The Yacht-Master’s new Oysterflex bracelet, developed by Rolex and patented, offers a sporty alternative to metal bracelets. The bracelet attaches to the watch case and the Oysterlock safety clasp by a flexible titanium and nickel alloy metal blade. The blade is overmoulded with high-performance black elastomer which is particularly resistant to environmental effects, very durable and perfectly inert for the wearer of the watch. For enhanced comfort, the inside of the Oysterflex bracelet is equipped with a patented longitudinal cushion system that stabilizes the watch on the wrist and fitted with an 18 ct Everose gold Oysterlock safety clasp. It also features the Rolex Glidelock extension system, designed by the brand and patented. This inventive toothed mechanism, integrated beneath the clasp, allows fine adjustment of the bracelet length by some 15 mm in increments of approximately 2.5 mm, without the use of tools.

To preserve the beauty of its pink gold watches, Rolex created and patented an exclusive 18 ct pink gold alloy cast in its own foundry: Everose gold. Introduced in 2005, 18 ct Everose is used on all Rolex Oyster models in pink gold.

The Yacht-Master’s bidirectional rotatable 60-minute graduated bezel is made entirely from precious metals or fitted with a Cerachrom insert in high-tech ceramic. The raised polished numerals and graduations stand out clearly against a matt, sand-blasted background. This functional bezel – which allows the wearer to calculate, for example, the sailing time between two buoys – is also a key component in the model’s distinctive visual identity.

All Rolex watches are assembled by hand with the utmost care to ensure exceptional quality. Such high standards naturally restrict Rolex production capacity and, at times, the demand for Rolex watches outpaces this capacity.

Behold the  new rose gold Rolex Yachtmaster with the Rolex Oysterflex Bracelet: Rolex's 1st Rubber Strap

With the new rose gold Rolex Yachtmaster, Rolex watchmakers held no punches and put in nearly every great idea they ever had into one amazing watch. The Rolex Yachtmaster has been around since the early '90s and came in an assortment of materials from gold and steel all the way up to platinum. They are known for being shiny and luxurious from one end to the next. So it comes as no surprise that the world was taken by a storm when they decided to use rubber to introduce the new Rolex Yachtmaster watch reference #116655 . Was it a step up or a step down for the series? PrestigeTime.com bloggers believe that pictures speak much louder than words.

The new men's Yachtmaster from Rolex is a 40mm 18k rose gold case watch with a black dial and accented in Rolex's very own Everose gold. Just like their proprietary 18kt rose gold alloy, Rolex will always prefer to create the status quo and not have to rise to meet it because of anyone else.

In the new rose gold Rolex Yachtmaster, they held no punches and put in nearly every great idea they ever had into one amazing watch.

At the core lies their in-house Rolex movement, the automatic caliber 3135 which resonates at 28,800 vph containing 31 jewels and has a whopping 50-hour power reserve. Of course, it would not be complete without their "Cyclops" magnifier. The new rose gold Rolex Yachtmaster is also known as the m116655-0001.

Rolex is also no stranger to trending luxury watches. They tend to be the first in doing and introducing many things. While rubber has been around for a long time and has been used on many watches over the years, both high-end luxury watches and everything else. Rubber had no place on a Rolex watch until now. Rolex waited this long to introduce this material into their products not because they were hesitant to be part of the trend, on the contrary, 

they wanted to revolutionize the rubber watch band before using it on their first-ever rubber strapped watch. Creating the best rubber bracelet was something Rolex obsessed about until its perfection. Enter the new Rolex  Oysterflex bracelet which we hope to see on more of their men's watches. A rubber-coated two-piece titanium bracelet with a patented cushioning system. The black elastomer coating is a similar substance to what you see on the Apple Watch. The bracelet has an Oysterlock clasp in solid 18k Everose gold which seals the deal. Rolex held nothing back in reinventing and over-engineering the perfect rubber bracelet that has the same elasticity as a metal bracelet without the initial cold feeling of a metal bracelet when first placed on a wrist. Now it's just a matter of time before a platinum Rolex comes with a rubber Oysterflex bracelet.

In 2015 Rolex introduces the Rolex Yachtmaster watch model #116655, the first Rolex watch with the all-new rubber Oysterflex band with an 18k rose gold clasp. After its creation, they saw all that they have made …and it was good.

Most recently this watch has been upgraded with a new movement and new reference number that we sell new, in its original box, with a warranty, and with free shipping to the United States. The new Rolex 126655 Yachtmaster 40mm is essentially the same watch with a few improvements. Specifically, the caliber inside has been replaced with the Rolex in-house caliber 3235, a Superlative Chronometer with exceptional precision, 31 watch jewels, Paraflex shock absorbers, and a substantially longer power reserve duration of approximately 70 hours.

Description

The Yacht Master first came out in 1992 under the reference 16628 and was made in yellow gold. It was conceived as the deluxe version of the Submariner. A few years later, in 1999, Rolex introduced the Yacht Master 16622 the Roselium (steel and platinum), as exemplified by the present lot. Combining for the first time stainless steel (main case and bracelet) and platinum (bezel and dial), this model has since been considered as The Yacht Master watch. Includes Rolex box.

Condition Report

The watch is in overall very good condition with minor wear throughout commensurate with age. The movement is running at the time of cataloging, however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Here’s the Impressive Rolex Collection Patrick Mahomes Has Built Up in Recent Years

When he was first picked for the Kansas City Chiefs, 10th overall, in the 2017 NFL Draft, the wristwatch that 22-year-old Patrick Mahomes’ wore for the event was nothing to write home about – a clunky and inexpensive looking two-tone gold and steel “fashion” chronograph. However, in the seven years since, as Essentially Sports recently pointed out , as his fortunes have changed Mahomes’ watch collection has vastly improved; and by our calculation, he has added a major example from Rolex watches at the rate of about one per year. 

The three-time Super Bowl winner – a fourth might well be in the cards for 2025 – who recently signed a 10-year contract with the Chiefs valued at $477 million with an additional $26 million in potential bonuses, can certainly afford a little wrist candy. And aside from a rose gold OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra he wore on the cover of GQ , and a skeleton dial Cartier Santos which he wore to the Met fashion gala, he has wisely opted for some of Rolex’s most desirable models.

There are some signs that Mahomes might be looking to be more blinged out now that his net worth is approaching nine figures; over the summer the star quarterback was spotted sporting an iced-out rose gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ref. 26322OR adorned with nearly 1,000 diamonds. A temporary lapse in taste, or so we hope. Here’s a rundown of the more elegant Rolexes he’s acquired in recent years:

Yacht-Master 126655 and 116680

The 18k rose gold model Rolex 126655 and the Rolex 116680 might just be the ultimate iteration of Rolex’s regatta timer; but for good measure he also has the better-known 44mm version in steel with the blue bezel. These timepieces showcase Mahomes’ appreciation for both luxury and functionality in his watch collection.  Now he just needs a yacht. 

GMT-Master “Batgirl” 126710BLNR

The black and blue bezel is self-explanatory; the jubilee bracelet makes it a Rolex Batgirl and not a Rolex Batman . Its practicality for a globe-trotting athlete like Mahomes is undeniable, making it a smart addition to his collection.  It certainly is a connoisseur’s choice, and handy for keeping track of multiple times zones while traveling. 

Daytona “Rainbow” 116595

The Rolex Daytona Rainbow is definitely the showstopper of the collection, this bejeweled beast retails for almost $450,000. It’s now been worn by so many celebrities that it no longer looks quite so outlandish as when first released. Its scarcity and high value also underscore Mahomes’ status as a serious watch collector.

By contrast, Mahomes also owns the least expensive Rolex 16523 Daytona on the market, the basic two-tone gold and steel version which preceded his acquisition of the Rainbow. This more accessible Daytona continues to be a chronograph that offers versatility and timeless appeal to newer collectors. Hey, we all have to start somewhere.

The other six-figure Rolex in Mahomes’ collection is the diamond-set platinum Day-Date with an ice blue dial. The overall effect is fairly subtle, a low-key flex firmly in the “if you know, you know” category of the Rolex Day-Date watch. This piece showcases Mahomes’ refined taste, opting for a watch that exudes quiet luxury rather than flashy ostentation. The platinum construction and diamond setting make this Day-Date a true collector’s item, further cementing Mahomes’ status as a serious watch enthusiast.

For those at sea, staying on course is a constant challenge. When dealing with the elements, nothing is certain and constant reaction is required to stay in the right direction. Since its launch in 1992, the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master has been equipped with a bidirectional rotatable bezel that facilitates the calculation and reading of navigational time. Elegantly combining functionality and nautical style, this watch has made its mark well beyond its professional realm.

A shared quest for precision

Knowing where you are in space and time, setting a course and sticking to it are vital in navigation. Given its function, the watch is an essential tool for sailors to assess their position. Regarded as the most precise horological instruments in the world, marine chronometers have been certified by astronomical observatories since the 18th century. At the time, the ultimate authority for measuring chronometric precision was the Kew Observatory in Great Britain.

In 1914, the founder of Rolex, Hans Wilsdorf, had one of the brand’s watches tested by this very observatory, which certified it as a chronometer: a first in the watchmaking world for a wristwatch. Since then, renowned sailors, such as Sir Francis Chichester and Bernard Moitessier, have navigated the seas with Rolex wristwatches serving as onboard chronometers.

Matching the precision of marine chronometers was fundamental to Rolex’s watchmaking.

Designed for navigators

Sailing occupies a special place in the world of Rolex. In 1958, the brand partnered the New York Yacht Club, creator of the legendary America’s Cup. Rolex then formed partnerships with several prestigious yacht clubs around the world and became associated with major nautical events – offshore races and coastal regattas.

These strong ties culminated in 1992 with the launch of the Yacht-Master. Boasting the robustness and waterproofness of our Oyster case, this chronometer is fitted with a bidirectional bezel with raised 60-minute graduations to enable navigational time to be calculated and read.

Available in three diameters – 37, 40 and 42 mm – and in various precious versions – 18 ct yellow, white and Everose gold – as well as in Everose Rolesor and Rolesium versions, the Yacht-Master is unique in the world of Rolex professional watches. An elegant watch with a sporty character, it was the first to be paired with an Oysterflex bracelet in 2015.

In 2023, after testing under real-life conditions by acclaimed helmsman Sir Ben Ainslie, Rolex launched a new version of the Yacht-Master 42. It is made of RLX titanium, a high-performance material, at once light, robust and corrosion resistant.

A veritable ally at sea, the Yacht-Master also elegantly adorns the wrists of navigators once back on solid ground. With many different versions, it is a model that transcends its seafaring origins.
