About Adriatic Sea

Why is Adriatic Sea a good sailing destination?

The Adriatic Sea, a radiant jewel of Europe, has long been the muse of sailors, poets, and explorers. Its allure is undeniable, and with Yachting.Rent, we aim to unveil the reasons behind its magnetic pull as a premium sailing destination.

The Adriatic is a unique blend of history and untouched beauty. Spanning from the Venetian canals to the dramatic cliffs of Montenegro, it offers sailors a timeline of civilizations past. As you glide along its waters, you’ll encounter ancient towns that seem frozen in time, bearing Roman ruins, Byzantine churches, and Venetian fortresses. Each harbor and bay tells a story, providing an unparalleled journey through epochs and empires.

But history is just the beginning. The Adriatic’s natural beauty is breathtaking. Over a thousand islands dot its expanse, ranging from densely forested landscapes to secluded beaches only accessible by boat. These pockets of paradise, many untouched by modern tourism, offer sailors an exclusive experience of the Mediterranean’s pristine beauty. The sea itself, with its crystal-clear turquoise waters, is a dream for divers, swimmers, and marine enthusiasts. With the gentle Mediterranean climate ensuring balmy summers and mild winters, the Adriatic offers an extended sailing season compared to many other destinations.

Yachting.Rent recognizes that modern sailors seek more than just scenic views. The Adriatic delivers in culinary delights, vibrant festivals, and a rich tapestry of cultural experiences. From the seafood feasts of Dalmatia to the truffle-rich regions of Istria, your taste buds are in for a treat. The coastal towns, with their bustling markets, folk festivals, and local music, provide an authentic glimpse into the region’s living traditions.

In essence, the Adriatic Sea isn’t just a sailing destination; it’s a multi-sensory experience that enriches the soul. With Yachting.Rent, you’re assured not only a vessel to navigate its wonders but a trusted companion in your exploration. Come, unfurl your sails in the Adriatic’s embrace, and discover why it remains, decade after decade, a sailor’s dream destination.

What Choose

Sailing boat or Catamaran, what to sail in Adriatic Sea

The Adriatic Sea, stretching its cerulean embrace across the southeastern coast of Europe, offers a diverse sailing experience that few places can match. When you’re looking to explore its vastness, the question often arises: sailing boat or catamaran? With Yachting.Rent, we provide insights tailored to help you make the perfect choice for your Adriatic adventure.

Sailing boats, with their classic charm, promise an authentic nautical experience. They echo the traditions of old-world sailing, giving you a genuine feel of the sea. As they gracefully cut through the Adriatic’s waves, these boats offer a more intimate connection with the water. Their keel design provides stability, making them excellent for longer passages and venturing out into the open sea. With their narrower beam, sailing boats can access some of the Adriatic’s more secluded harbors and anchorages, allowing you to explore hidden gems off the beaten path.

On the other hand, catamarans have gained immense popularity for several reasons. Their dual-hull design grants them stability, reducing the chances of seasickness. With a broader deck space, they offer more room for relaxation, sunbathing, and onboard activities, making them ideal for families or larger groups. Their shallow draft is perfect for the Adriatic’s coastline, allowing you to get closer to beaches and navigate shallow waters with ease. Plus, the panoramic views from a catamaran are unparalleled, giving you an unobstructed 360-degree view of the Adriatic’s splendor.

Yachting.Rent understands that every sailor’s preference is as unique as their journey. Whether you’re seeking the romantic allure of traditional sailing or the spacious luxury of a modern catamaran, our fleet caters to every whim. Our expert team is on hand to guide you, ensuring you select the vessel that aligns with your vision of the perfect Adriatic voyage.

In essence, whether you lean towards the elegance of a sailing boat or the comfort of a catamaran, the Adriatic Sea’s magic remains constant. With Yachting.Rent, every choice leads to unforgettable horizons, sun-soaked memories, and the thrill of discovery on this iconic sea. So set sail, and let the Adriatic unveil its wonders to you.

Luxury Yacht Rental in Nova Scotia

Luxury yacht charter guide to nova scotia.

A servant to the sea, the shores of Nova Scotia straddle the line between quaint fishing village and thriving summer destination. With its beacon bright lighthouses, whale tails in the water, glowering russet cliffs, deep blue waters and locals waving from the trails that crisscross the coast, it's easy to be charmed. These Celtic heritage lands are bursting at the seams with secret coves, seafront restaurants for shucking oysters, specialist vineyards, and historical sites, boutiques and galleries that capture the bright and tapestried history.

Reasons to Charter a Yacht in Nova Scotia

Amazing islands.

Home to one of Canada’s best islands, the green and blue summer shores of Nova Scotia are all innocent fun for sailors. Drop anchor at Cape Breton Island for a glorious round of golf or to explore the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The islands that dot Nova Scotia offer some of the best outdoor adventure playgrounds in the world.

Seafood Central

Nova Scotia is the lobster capital of Canada and charter guests who love nothing more than cracking claws will be in their element. Sail to Barrington where the lobsters are so good they even become the star of their own summer festival during the month of June. Beyond the buttered lobster there’s always sublime scallops, wild blueberries, rapple pie, oatcakes and the Greek inspired local Donair to keep you satiated.

Sip and Swirl

In the far reaches of Canada it seems unlikely that you would find yourself sitting in a pretty vineyard sipping an award-winning glass of Riesling. Whether it's that gulp down fresh mountain air or the salt whipped wonder of the ocean, Nova Scotia has an impressive boutique winery scene. With eleven wineries to explore, start at L’Acadie to taste organic bliss before delving deep into the bottles of Gasperau.

Where to Visit in Nova Scotia

The hip and happening heart of Nova Scotia has to be Halifax. This seaside city has plenty to offer including a great glut of museums and galleries celebrating its artistic side and maritime history. Duck into the Halifax Citadel and see the clocktower to learn all about Halifax’s fascinating past. The vibrant harbor is a buzzing place to soak up the social delights of Halifax with its homely breweries, bright restaurants, and delightful shopping scene.

Cape Breton

Beaches, vantage points, waterfalls and no less than 26 trails mark Cape Breton as being one of the best islands in Canada for the active charter traveler. Be sure to rent a car and take The Cabot Trail, said to be one of the most scenic drives in the world as it tapers along the sapphire blue coast and serves up mind boggling vistas. 18th century seaports, golf courses, and lush lodges also await.

Bay of Fundy

The beautiful Bay of Fundy is a yacht charter dream. Boasting one of the world's highest tides you can soak up endless sea centric vibes. These waters are home to no less than twelve different species of whale. Whether hiking, watching from your charter deck with champagne in hand, or kayaking alongside the magnificent giants of the sea, the Bay of Fundy serves up unsurpassed natural beauty drenched in salt.

When to Charter a Yacht in Nova Scotia

The summer months are the best time to set sail for Nova Scotia especially if you want to make the most of the scenic hikes, the whale rich waters, and the best seafood suppers imaginable. While the direct summer months serve the most consistent weather and balmy temperatures, as long as you steer clear of winter, it should be smooth sailing. May through October also serve up the shoulder season months and there are plenty of festivals to be had in the spring and autumn.

Am I expected to leave a tip for our Captain or Tour Guide?

Our crew do not expect guests to leave them tips. That said, our captain and tour guides are allowed to accept tips if offered to them, so if you feel that someone on your tour deserves a tip and you wish to give them one, you are more than welcome to do so — and we thank you for your generosity!

If you wish to leave a tip for your Guide and/or Captain but do not have any cash on hand, ask them about their “digital tip jar” that allows you to send them a tip using your credit card.

We will always do our best to make sure you are comfortable. The cabin is not fully enclosed, so on cooler, drizzling days, please come prepared for the day’s weather. While there is no heater on board, we have blankets for your use should you need them.

Generally speaking, dress appropriately for the weather, and keep in mind it tends to be a little cooler and breezier on the water and can be quite cool in spring and fall.

Harbour Tours are suitable for everyone, of all ages. There is no substantial physical effort required to enjoy our tours, but please note that there is a ramp between the wharf and the dock, and a small step up is necessary from the dock into the boat. Of course, we can offer a helping hand. Most able-bodied Guests have no problem with this. Kids LOVE our tours, and so does the rest of the family. We promise!

1. Halifax Harbour Hopper Tour

⭐5/5 (680+ Reviews)

The Harbour Hopper Tour is one of the most unique boat tours in Halifax because it uses an amphibious Vietnam War vehicle that can travel both on land and in water!

I actually lived along the route so I always heard it. When my mom came to visit it was our first stop so I could learn what else they said on the route.

You’ll visit several important sites, including St. Paul’s Cathedral and Citadel Hill.

The guide narrates the entire journey, telling you what to look for and interesting facts about each landmark!

Once the land portion of the tour is complete, you’ll head down to the harbor, where the captain will launch the vehicle directly into the water. Then, you’ll enjoy a short boat tour of Halifax Harbour before returning to land, where the tour concludes.

This tour is great for families with children. (Even grown adults who are big kids at heart will find this amphibious tour a lot of fun.

As one of the most popular tours in Halifax, there are multiple departure timeslots each day.

“Our Captain Kirk and First Mate Matt were absolutely amazing! The trip was very informative and told a lot of history we did not know. We highly recommend this tour.” – Jennifer C.

2. Adventure Yacht Sailing in the Halifax Harbour

⭐5/5 (65+ Reviews)

Prefer sailing on a yacht? This Halifax luxury yacht tour is the only wind-powered sailing tour in Halifax.

The coolest part is that you can even participate in the sailing process. The crew will guide you on how to lend a hand on board the ship with the sails and other tasks.

But there’s no obligation. If you just want to chill, you can hang out at the bow of the ship and simply take in the sights as they pass.

You can also grab a glass of complimentary wine or beer from the bar on board and enjoy a luxurious skyline view of the Halifax Harbor!

“Our sailing trip was thoroughly enjoyable. We got to enjoy the Halifax harbour while also learning about how a sailboat works/operates. The staff were very friendly and helpful and answered any questions that we had. It was a wonderful way to spend a sunny afternoon.” – Erin G.

3. Sunset Wine and Cheese Yacht Sailing

⭐5/5 (75+ Reviews)

Imagine sipping fancy wine and sailing through the harbor during golden hour. Not only is it a unique way to spend the evening, but it is also one of the best date night ideas in Halifax!

Once you board the yacht, your captain will sail down the narrows of the Northwest Arm during sunset and share some interesting insights about the harbor along the way. You’ll also get to sample four different types of local wine, cheese, and other charcuterie items.

The best part is that, because it’s a small group boat tour, you won’t have to share the moment with crowds of other tourists. The maximum number of people on each yacht tour is 12.

If you’re a wine enthusiast or a couple traveling to Halifax, this is a great way to spend an evening on the water!

Note: Guests must be 19 years of age to take this tour.

“If I could rate this tour 6 stars, I will. We had an amazing experience. The wine selection was extraordinary, the navigation in the ocean made me want to be a sailor, the crew was gentle and knowledgeable. The hours spent flew by and the scenery with wine and cheese couldn’t be better. Thank you for making our Halifax visit so joyful.” – Olga S.

4. Tall Ship Silva Sailing Cruise

⭐5/5 (150+ Reviews)

The tall ship Silva is an imposing 130-foot (40m) schooner, but it looks even more impressive when you’re a passenger on board.

On this boat tour, you’ll enjoy sailing on one of the most beautiful boats in the harbor and learn all about the rice maritime history of Halifax. The tour sails near many local points of interest, including Harbour Bridge, Fort George, McNab’s Island, and Point Pleasant Park.

Towards the end of the tour, there is an optional part where you can join the crew manning the sails, tying knots, or even taking a turn at the helm. This is particularly fun for families with young children!

The tour does have a lot of people, but since the ship is so large, it rarely feels overcrowded. There’s plenty of room to find a spot and enjoy the boat tour!

“The young tour guide was great. The weather was beautiful. The wind and seas were calm. An exciting way to spend a couple of hours viewing the Halifax Harbour.” – Alvin B.

8. Morning Family Sailing Experience in Halifax

⭐5/5 (25+ Reviews)

This boat tour in Halifax caters to families traveling to Halifax and want to go sailing together. It starts first thing in the morning (around 10 AM) and uses a 45’ wind-powered vessel!

The kids will learn so much from the crew on board, including gybing, tacking, setting the course, and turning the winches. The team works hard to make it a quality educational opportunity for everyone on board!

The captain will even provide each child with an Official Crew Member Certificate!

But don’t worry, this is an excellent tour for big kids, too (ahem, adults)!

There’s plenty of space to spread out and feel like you have your own space, even when a couple of families are on board, and reviews praise the team for giving personal care to each passenger.

If your kids love spending time on a boat, another memorable experience for families in Halifax is going whale watching!

“Kind, knowledgeable and fun staff. Clean, well maintained boat. Children friendly! All ages fun! I would recommend to anyone.” – Laurie S.

Canada Travel Planning Guide

🚑  Should I buy Canada travel insurance?

100% YES!  — Canada has “free” healthcare but it’s only for citizens! Foreigners visiting need travel insurance in case anything happens on their visit. I recommend World Nomads – starting at just $5 a day!

💧 Can you drink the water in Canada?

Yes  — In all major cities in Canada, you can drink the tap water. There are very few, rural areas that you can’t. However, you should never drink river or lake water anywhere in the country! I recommend a Brita Water Bottle for long hikes and backcountry camping to stay safe and hydrated.

🚙💨  Is it safe to rent a car in Canada?

Yes  — Renting a car is a necessity in most of Canada! If you want to go on road trips or adventures outside of the major cities, you’ll need to rent a car. ( Read more )

📲  Will my phone work in Canada?

Maybe  — Some American companies work in Canada, but many will not. If your phone doesn’t work in Canada, I recommend getting a Canadian SIM card so you can get around and stay in contact with loved ones. We don’t have a lot of free WIFI in Canada, so you’ll need your phone for maps.

🏩  What’s the best way to book my Canada accommodations?

My go-to for Canadian hotels is Booking.com . For hostels, I use Hostel World . If you want a home-y feeling, check out VRBO (which is cheaper and safer than Airbnb).

Or get free accommodations with Trusted Housesitters!

✈️  What’s the best site to buy Canada flights?

For finding cheap Canadian flights, I recommend  Skyscanner .

🎫  Do I need a visa for Canada?

Likely Not  — US, UK, and EU passport holders don’t need Canadian visas. However, some other countries do ( check here! ). And if you plan to stay for more than 4 weeks (an average tourist visa length), you will need to look into visas to live in Canada.

I rented Faizan’s boat when regular tourist charters were not able to navigate to a certain location where my dad wanted his ashes scattered. He was thoughtful and respectful and navigated our group to the spot over some choppy Atlantic waters. Would recommend Faizan for whatever the occasion.

I chartered a boat with Faizan on Saturday, June 29th, for my boyfriend’s surprise birthday party. Coordinating the surprise required having our friends arrive before us, and Faizan was extremely helpful and accommodating throughout the process. Having never rented a boat with a captain before, I was initially worried about potential scams. Faizan promptly agreed to meet with me beforehand to alleviate my concerns, showing me the boat and providing reassurance. His easygoing, friendly demeanor, and extensive knowledge of boating and boat safety made the experience smooth and enjoyable. We had ten friends on board, and every single one of them expressed their intention to rent with Faizan in the future. I highly recommend Faizan if you want to have a fantastic time on the water with the best captain around!
