How Much Do Superyachts Cost?

who owns rio rita yacht

When it comes to superyachts, the sky is the limit when it comes to cost.

These luxury vessels come with hefty price tags that can range from anywhere between $30 million to over $400 million.

So, if youre in the market for a superyacht, youre looking at an investment that could easily break the bank.

The cost of a superyacht is driven by a variety of factors, including size, amenities, and customization.

Generally, the larger the yacht, the more expensive it will be.

Superyachts typically range in size from 100 feet to over 200 feet, and they can be as wide as 40 feet.

The bigger the yacht, the more luxurious features and amenities it will have.

Amenities also play a significant role in the cost of a superyacht.

While some owners prefer to keep their yachts out of the public eye, others have made headlines with their extensive amenities.

From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, the sky is the limit when it comes to customizing a superyacht.

The more amenities a superyacht has, the more expensive it will be.

Finally, customization is another major factor that will drive up the cost of a superyacht.

Many luxury vessels have custom-designed interiors that are tailored to the owners tastes.

From custom furniture and artwork to lighting and audio systems, the cost of a superyacht can quickly escalate depending on the level of customization.

In short, the cost of a superyacht can vary widely depending on its size, amenities, and customization.

While some may be able to get away with spending a few million dollars, others may end up spending hundreds of millions of dollars on their dream yacht.

No matter what your budget is, its important to do your research and find out exactly what youre getting for your money before signing on the dotted line.

Keeping Superyachts Out of the Public Eye

When it comes to owning a superyacht, some owners prefer to keep their vessels out of the public eye.

Understandably, these individuals are concerned with privacy and discretion, and therefore tend to take measures to ensure their yachts are not visible to outsiders.

For instance, some superyacht owners opt to keep their vessels in private marinas, away from the public areas of larger ports.

Additionally, some yacht owners may choose to hire security guards to patrol and protect their vessels while they are moored or sailing.

In addition to physical security, some superyacht owners also use technology to keep their vessels out of the public eye.

For example, a yacht owner may choose to install a satellite-based communications system that allows them to keep their vessel completely off-radar.

This system works by bouncing signals off satellites rather than transmitting them, making it virtually impossible for anyone to track the yachts movements.

Finally, some superyacht owners also choose to limit the number of people who have access to their vessels.

For instance, the owner may only allow family members and close friends to board the yacht.

Additionally, the owner may choose to employ a limited number of staff to help maintain the vessel and keep it running smoothly.

These individuals may be required to sign non-disclosure agreements to ensure they do not disclose any information about the yacht or its owner.

Overall, while some superyacht owners may choose to keep their vessels out of the public eye, there are still plenty of other ways to show off the opulence associated with owning a superyacht.

From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, there are many luxurious amenities that can make a superyacht the envy of any jet setter.

Final Thoughts

Superyachts are a symbol of luxury and status, and the list of yacht owners reads like a who’s who of billionaires.

From the Emir of Qatar’s world-record breaking $400 million yacht to Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s vessel with a helicopter pad and on-board spa, the amenities of these luxury vessels are truly stunning.

With prices ranging from $30 million to over $400 million, owning a superyacht is an expensive endeavor.

Whether you’re looking to purchase one or just curious to learn more about the owners and their amenities, this guide will provide you with all the information you need to stay up to date with the superyacht scene.

On Board 62m M/Y Rio with Capt. David Kirkbride

M/Y Rio running shot

Kate got her start in the yachting industry working as crew. She spent five years cruising the Bahamas, Caribbean, New England, and Central America, then segued that experience into a career in marine journalism, including stints as editor of  Dockwalk  and  ShowBoats International .

Light, bright, and fun, Rio is the embodiment of the modern superyacht — her colorful, casually stylish interior and contemporary exterior seem to personify the ever-younger owner demographic. The fully custom 62-meter CRN was drawn by Omega Architects with strong horizontal lines that culminate at a plumb bow. Her amenities include all the musthaves: from a beach club with hammam to an owner's deck with private foredeck lounge. Floor-to-ceiling windows facing cutaway bulwarks let the sunshine in unimpeded, and communal spaces inside and out are open-plan, flowing effortlessly from one social area to the next.

For her captain, David Kirkbride, she's a dream job. After joining the industry 19 years ago, the 39-year-old has been working as a captain since he got his master's ticket at age 31. His commands until now have been 50-meteryachts, so Rio represents a nice step up in length and volume.

He met the owners when he was their charter captain. "They were fun clients, which made those two weeks fun for everybody," he says. "The chemistry was there .. .it clicked straight away. We kept in contact and they always said they were keen for me to come work for them if they ever bought a boat." When he received a message from them with the brochure of Rio saying, "We're thinking of this. Are you interested?" his "yes" came quickly.

Rio 's owners got involved late in the build after the commissioning owner pulled out. They set to work with Pulina Exclusive Interiors to conceive an interior that matched their personality and chose a cheerful palette of carnival-esque colors. "It suits the name Rio," says Kirkbride.

While the interior was being redesigned, Capt. Kirkbride took his time hiring crew, a strategy he says paid off. "I didn't want just anybody because knowing how the family are and how they entertain, they want a family environment around them and I want that environment around myself as well. I want a happy crew. I want a crew that work well together and a crew that work well on their own. And I've ticked all those boxes, in my eyes."

Since delivery in May, Rio spent the summer cruising the Med, mainly being enjoyed by the owners, plus one successful two-week charter. "There's not one area on board that doesn't get used," says Kirkbride, "from the Jacuzzi on the owner's deck forward to the Jacuzzi on the bridge deck. Even the kids have taken over the beach club as their evening area to watch TV, listen to music, and fish off the stern."

Rio 's accommodations are particularly comfortable. In addition to the forwardfacing owner's suite on the upper deck, there are two generous VIP suites that stretch the full beam, one on the main deck and one on the lower deck, where three more guest cabins and a gym are also found. The crew quarters are relatively commodious, too, offering plenty of storage. The bridge deck hosts both the captain's cabin and an officer's cabin. Down below, "the smallest cabin, the most forward one, is still better than the cabin I had as a chief officer on a 63-meter," says Kirkbride.

Propulsion-wise, Rio is straightforward; a bulbous bow leads the displacement hull through the water at up to 15 knots, pushed by two 3512C ACERT Caterpillars. At double the gross tonnage of a 50-meter, her heft means that Capt. Kirkbride has to think ro steps ahead instead of five, he says, since she takes longer to respond, but he praises the way the boat handles at sea and how she maneuvers in port.

When asked what he likes best about his job, Capt. Kirkbride answers, "I like who I work for and the people I work with. My crew are a family and we all look after each other."

Can't ask for more than that.

Originating from the The Feadship De Vries Shipyard yacht builder in the Netherlands the RIO RITA is 56 m 183 (foot) in length. RIO RITA is s classic 52m Feadship built in 1984, and purchased the next year by her current Greek owners. When 21 years old, the yacht was then refitted by Amels who carefully modernized this beauty. Amels replaced the square transom stern with a swim platform and symmetrical curved stairs to the main deck which stretched RIO RITA from 52 to 56 meters and increased her top speed from 15 to 16 knots.

De Voogt Naval Architects was the naval architect involved in the professional nautical composition for RIO RITA. A fairly shallow draught of 2.83m (9.3ft) selects the list of certain harbours she can enter, contingent on their minimum characteristics. She had refit maintenance and changes completed by 2006.

Bespoke 204-foot superyacht Rio was launched by its builder CRN last week in Ancona, Italy.

Superyacht launches tend to be private affairs, a celebration of the relationship between owners and the shipyard. Typically, it involves the owners and their families, the executives of the yard and the workers who built it. Depending on the yacht’s size, it can be one of the largest get-togethers on the docks, consummated by the owner breaking a champagne bottle breaking across the bow.

Italian custom builder CRN gave its new 204-footer, named Rio , a welcome worthy of Carnival, complete with fireworks and confetti, as it was launched last week. The bespoke superyacht, named Project C138 during the three-year build process, made its debut at CRN’s Ancona shipyard.

The four-deck yacht, with a 37-foot beam, was designed to accommodate 12 guests across six staterooms. They include a full-beam owner’s suite, two full-beam VIP staterooms—one on the main deck forward and the other on the lower deck—and three more lower-deck suites, including two doubles and a twin. An elevator connects all four decks, which includes a private deck for the owner. The yacht has plenty of glass along its three top decks, along with portholes in the lower deck.

Superyacht launches are celebrations, but Rio’s was more Brazilian Carnival than just breaking a champagne bottle across the bow.  Courtesy CRN

The design came from CRN’s in-house team, with collaboration on the exterior and naval architecture from Omega Architects. Pulina Exclusive Interiors handled the interior styling.

Rio mixes sporty exterior lines with a vertical bow that gives it a handsome, contemporary look. The owners wanted a mixture of privacy and gracious outdoor living, so the design team combined three large exterior decks with aft overhangs on the first and second decks, and left the rear of the fourth deck open, but with an enclosed salon. The sizable beach club at the rear lower deck also has a lounge and fitness zone.

The newest CRN will undergo sea trials and final fit-out before being delivered to her owner.

crn motor yacht rio exterior

First look: Inside 62m CRN superyacht Rio

Italian shipyard CRN , a brand of Ferretti Group, has unveiled the first images of its 62 metre superyacht Rio ahead of her premiere appearance at the Monaco Yacht Show 2022.

Delivered in May , Rio was designed by CRN in partnership with Omega Architects and is the first collaboration between the pair since the 73 metre Yalla in 2014.

The yacht was built under the management of TWW Yachts and is a full-custom build with a steel hull, aluminium superstructure and  "supremely sporty" exterior that’s defined by a near-vertical bow, gentle arches in the superstructure and long lines of glazing.

Pulina Exclusive Interiors has helmed the yacht’s interior styling. Natural light is a key design point on board, and the Italian design studio ensured a bright and airy ambience with far-ranging views available across her decks.

This is particularly notable in the “luminious” main saloon, which the yard has described as a "single eye-catching space encapsulating all the elements of style that define the yacht's design."

The yacht follows a contemporary, yet playful theme that appeals to all generations. The designers haven’t shied away from vibrant colours and tropical patterns, fulfilling the owner’s request for  “bright, colourful spaces and a happy atmosphere for the younger family members to enjoy”.

A high level of detail is evident across the yacht's spaces, with hand-painted panels in the owner’s lobby, custom artworks in the saloon and a bar made from a slab of highly sought-after Azul Macauba marble that welcomes guests as they step in from the exterior decks.

Elsewhere, the design team has used a mix of white lacquered oak, delicate cotton wallpaper and warm Crema d’Orcia limestone to add character to the contrast. In the central lobby, a staircase made of bleached pickled oak and ice-white leather takes pride of place.

Pops of seafoam green and fuschia pink make an appearance on board Rio , but crisp blues and sharp navy maintain an air of sophistication throughout.

Alongside the “palatial” main saloon, guests will find a bespoke round drum table that seats up to eight and an American bar that blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Accommodation is for up to 12 guests across one owner’s suite and five guest cabins. These are comprised of two full-beam VIPs – one on the main deck forward, the other on the lower deck - and three suites on the lower deck. There are also nine cabins for the 15 crew.

The owner’s suite has been conceived as a “haven of privacy”, which offers 180-degree views and private amenities including a study area with a desk that can be rotated 90 degrees. The suite also benefits from a freestanding bathtub that allows the vistas to be soaked up from the comfort of a bath.

At the bow, an open-air lounge, spanning 115 square metres, is directly accessed from the master cabin. Here, the owner or principal charterer can make full use of a recessed dip pool during the day, or turn it into a dancefloor by nightfall.

One of the yacht’s clever design twists is the mooring area below the owner’s deck, which has been created so that crew completely avoid the owner’s private spaces when they require access.

Tender storage is located in the foredeck, where there is space for two jet skis, a collection of toys and an 8-metre 8-metre Pascoe Beachlander tender. A second tender of almost 5 metres is on hand for the rescue, and there is also a 14 - meter SACS Rebel 47 tender chase boat in her arsenal.

In terms of wellness, Rio plays host to a Hamman, shower and fully-equipped gym. Adjoining this area is a multi-purpose waterfront lounge area with a TV that doubles as a whiteboard for games and other entertainment.

The yacht has a top speed of 15 knots and cruises at 12 knots, powered by her twin Caterpillar engines. The yacht is IMO Tier III-certified1, assuring drastic reductions of 70% in harmful emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the engine exhaust, according to the yard.

Four fully custom yachts are currently under construction at the CRN shipyard: the 72 metre CRN 139 , 60 metre CRN 141 , 52  67 metre CRN 143, and the recently launched 52 metre superyacht Ciao .

CRN Successfully Delivers 62m RIO to Her Owner

By Heather Collier

The 62m Rio has now left her Ancona Superyacht Yard as she prepares to make her Mediterranean debut. She remains an outstanding example of the Ancona yard’s meticulous craftsmanship and supreme design and build expertise.

After a successful launch in January and subsequent sea trials, she has now been delivered to her owner, an individual deeply passionate about onboard life.

Rio was designed and built by CRN  in close collaboration with design and architecture studio Omega Architects, who created the exterior concept, and designers Pulina Exclusive Interiors for the interior styling.

She boasts a sporty, sleek personality, with flowing hull lines and near-vertical bow; a fully bespoke opus with a strong Artisanal signature.

TWW Yachts is representing the buyer, while TWW Yacht Management has provided integral technical consultancy with survey and project management oversight throughout the final stages of construction.

At 62m with an 11.2m beam, this 4-deck superyacht can host up to 12 guests across the span of 5 guest suites and an owner's suite; comprised of 2 full-beam VIPs – one on the main deck forward, the other on the lower deck – and 3 suites on the lower deck. The upper deck is the owner’s exclusive, private oasis that can also double as a social zone.

Rio is the perfect vessel for a shared cruising experience with family and close friends, with large, bright indoor and outdoor living areas. Her generous full height windows on the main and owner decks compliment her opulent exterior architecture, creating an encapsulating play of light and reflected shimmer from the water.

She will be unveiled to the industry in her world premiere at the world-renowned Monaco Yacht Show , from the 28th of September to the 1st October 2022; promising to be a key highlight of the event.

Rio is now available for charter exclusively with TWW Yachts . She will be cruising in the Mediterranean this summer and October onwards in the Caribbean. CRN is currently building another 4 fully custom yachts: the 72m CRN M/Y 139, the 60m CRN M/Y 141, the 52m CRN M/Y 142 and the 67m CRN M/Y 143.

We would like to congratulate all parties involved on her smooth launch and delivery.

10 of the most impressive superyachts owned by billionaires

From a sailing yacht owned by a russian billionaire industrialist to the luxury launch of the patek philippe ceo, here are the best billionaire-owned boats on the water….

Words: Jonathan Wells

There’s something about billionaires and big boats . Whether they’re superyachts or megayachts, men with money love to splash out on these sizeable sea-going giants. And that all began in 1954 — with the big dreams of Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis.

Onassis, keen to keep his luxury lifestyle afloat when at sea, bought Canadian anti-submarine frigate HMCS Stormont after World War II. He spent millions turning it into an opulent super yacht, named it after his daughter — and the Christina O kicked off a trend among tycoons. To this day, the world’s richest men remain locked in an arms race to build the biggest, fastest, most impressive superyacht of all. Here are 10 of our favourites…

The new 62m superyacht rio: a fully bespoke nautical work of art..

27 July 2022

who owns rio rita yacht

This true-custom yacht with an unmistakable pursuit: to make on-board life uniquely pleasurable   Delivered in May of 2022, the magnificent CRN M/Y RIO is the latest true-custom steel and aluminium superyacht by CRN, an entirely bespoke nautical work of art. The taut, flowing hull lines and near-vertical bow bear striking testament to her remarkable elegance and dynamic, sporty personality.   The new 62-metre beauty is the fullest expression of the Ancona yard’s artisanal skill, design expertise and fine construction quality. She was designed and built by CRN in close collaboration with design and architecture studio Omega Architects , who created the exterior concept, and designers Pulina Exclusive Interiors for the styling inside.   TWW Yachts is representing the owner, while TWW Yacht Management has provided integral technical consultancy with survey and project management oversight throughout the final stages of construction and onward through her operational management.   Created to her owner’s vision, CRN M/Y RIO exudes a supreme harmony between the ample interior and exterior spaces, evoking a strong sense of fluidity, an impression of even greater volume and a perceptual and functional unity between inside and out.   The generous full-height windows form a visual continuum in sync with the elegant exterior architecture. They offer a delightful play of reflected shimmer, bathing the spaces in light and enabling constant direct contact with the sea. The main aft deck profile revels in the harmony of designer Frank Laupman’s signature arches, which protect the deck and assure guests’ privacy while framing superb views from the side and stern.   At 62 metres long and 11.2 metres in the beam, this 4-deck yacht comfortably accommodates up to 12 guests in the owner’s suite and 5 guest cabins. These are comprised of 2 full-beam VIPs – one on the main deck forward, the other on the lower deck – and 3 suites on the lower deck, namely 2 doubles and a twin, served by a lift to all decks. There are also 9 cabins for the 15 crew.   This true-custom yacht has an unmistakable pursuit: to make on-board life uniquely pleasurable. The owner can enjoy the harmonious distribution and quality of the spaces, with a smooth, fluid layout designed specially to unite the many large indoor and outdoor living areas seamlessly in masterly style, where natural light reigns supreme.   The magnificent outdoor spaces are conceived as multipurpose areas for relaxing and sociable moments. This wealth of spaces includes the stern lounge with bright, airy al fresco dining facilities or the lounge at the bow on the owner deck with a generous spa pool and sun area for fitness use and parties. Not to mention the wellness lounge with water toys aplenty at the beach club, or the huge spa pool and cinema zone aft on the wheelhouse deck. All these areas are ideal for spending memorable moments enjoying the open-air lifestyle to the fullest with family and friends. The entire superyacht is tailored to create an extraordinary personalised cruising experience steeped in freedom and privacy. The owner can savour the seclusion of their own private deck or dive into the buzz of the sizeable social areas.   CRN M/Y RIO reflects an advanced contemporary concept of on-board living. The comfort is set off with sublime details selected with absolute care, where exquisite materials mingle with specially developed colour combinations. The owner expressly requested bright, colourful spaces and a happy atmosphere for the younger family members to enjoy. A vibrant concept has been developed with a tropical mood, where the prevailing upbeat white tones, pure lines and natural materials are set off by a judicious mix of lively pops of colour and vivid décor inspired by exotic motifs. The white walls harmonise with the marine palette, from pastel turquoise to the varying shades of azure for the furnishings and textiles in custom textures. And delightful details – in tones of blue and fuchsia or green and grey – further embellish every deck.   The preferred woods are American walnut and white lacquered oak in staves, selected respectively for the floors and walls all through the yacht. Crema d’Orcia and Calacatta Vagli Oro marbles grace the bathrooms, chiming with the predominant light hues. The most vivid notes come from other marbles: the blues of the Azul Macauba in the saloons and the mossy Irish Green in the outdoor American bars light up the spaces with colour combinations in marine-inspired moods.   Imaginative stylish details and custom artworks permeate all the decks with character. Sumptuous wallpapers and jungle-style decorations, like the hand-painted panels in the owner’s lobby, create vibrant, joyous, endlessly fascinating effects.   The yacht’s interiors are by Zago S.p.A , a Ferretti Group company established over a century ago as a small artisanal carpentry workshop. Zago is now a major player in bespoke naval furnishings and a champion of Italian manufacturing excellence.   As with the owner suite, all the guest areas and cabins come with the very latest smart-automation technology. This allows guests to control and personalise the air conditioning system, the opening and closing of the curtains, the lighting – from the brightness to switching on and off – and, naturally, all the audiovisual kit. MAIN DECK   The main-deck spaces are fully integrated inside and out in a harmonious flow that bestows a clear sense of openness and continuity. The finishes and decoration form a seamless continuum throughout, in areas that are relaxing yet hospitable for a social experience that runs through the yacht.   The cockpit hosts a large, comfortable open-air living space with a versatile layout that highlights the owner family’s desire for quality time together. This lounge and welcome area features furnishings by contemporary Italian design brands with a colour palette that plays with natural elements like the sea and sky, fusing in unison with the tropical mood.   A sliding glass door unveils the palatial main saloon. This multipurpose space makes a superb social and dining area; a remarkable emblem of this 62-metre yacht’s character, it offers a strong, immediate sense of spaciousness. The many full-height windows afford spectacular sea views and make this an especially luminous space. Among the sophisticated materials, the white lacquered oak takes pride of place on the walls alongside some magnificent cotton wallpapers in shades of white, framed by understated pastel turquoise lacquered profiling. Like a neutral tableau enlivened by splashes of colour, the white furnishings juxtapose with elements in shades of azure and strikingly colourful jungle-inspired custom artworks on the walls to create an exuberant, dynamic feel.   Guests are welcomed by an American bar at the entrance, which becomes a bridge between the indoor and outdoor lounge areas. Made of sought-after Azul Macauba marble with blueish veining, it harmonises to perfection with the prevailing palette. The dining area is designed for more formal moments. Its centrepiece, an impressive totally bespoke round drum table, seats 8 people and can swiftly extend to accommodate up to 12. The single central element at the base supporting the dark-oak top is finished in sublime white leather, setting off the leather chairs with backs in dark-brown tones and seats in two shades of white for an attractive play of chromatic allusions. At the far end of the main saloon, the living area with welcoming sofa and 83" TV is an ideal spot for guests to relax and for the youngsters to play games uninhibited.   Further along the deck, the central lobby revolves around the elegant staircase in bleached pickled oak. Linking all levels of the yacht, this object of design is functional yet beautiful, embellished with white-leather wall coverings with continuous stitching for an extremely smooth quilted look. Also in the lobby, the lift serving all decks has mirrored walls with a decorative 3D effect and an American walnut floor with Crema d’Orcia marble inlay.   A short corridor leads to the VIP cabin and past the large, highly functional galley with professional equipment, as used by top Michelin-starred chefs. The full-beam VIP cabin is grand enough to be considered a second owner suite. Here, a capacious walk-in wardrobe opens on to another very luminous space in white tones and bright-blue profiling, complete with relaxation zone and desk area. Guests can work there in absolute comfort and peace even while cruising – an amenity offered in all the larger cabins, at the owner’s direct request.   In the middle, the king-size bed has a white-leather headboard with 3D fish-scale effect, a detail that appears in different guises on the bedheads in every cabin. The eye is drawn to the distinctive wallpaper made of bamboo interwoven with silver thread and cotton, a symphony of nuanced blues with a delectable texture. Rounding off the VIP cabin, the twin bathrooms each feature a shower and full amenities, set off with prime materials like Crema d’Orcia marble.   At the bow, the full-beam garage accommodates two jet skis, an array of toys for all the family and guests to enjoy, an 8-metre Pascoe Beachlander tender and a second tender of almost 5 metres for the crew that also acts as a rescue boat. In addition, there is also a 14 - meter SACS Rebel 47 tender chase boat.   LOWER DECK   On the lower deck, the beach club is a multipurpose lounge area looking right on to the sea, equipped with a spectrum of water toys for unrivalled aquatic enjoyment. Designed to offer moments of togetherness and fun, both indoors and out, the area receives extra illumination from the four large lanterns in the floor of the deck above, which light up the blues and greens of the marine-style furnishings and nature-inspired wallpaper. Besides the wellness area which house a hammam and shower, there is a lounge with bright, cheerful floating poufs shaped like starfish for guests to enjoy with a large TV that doubles as an interactive whiteboard for games and other entertainment.   Down from the main-deck lobby to the lower deck, a fully equipped gym forms a keep-fit zone in combination with the bow area. The 4 guest cabins with private bathroom comprise 1 full-beam VIP, 2 identical doubles and a twin with third Pullman bed, all with white lacquered-oak staved walls pepped up with dashes of colour. In seamless harmony with the various decks’ interior style and materials, each guest cabin is finished differently, personalised with its own colour scheme – red/brown, green/blue and pastel green – for the wall panels, profiling and furnishings. In the bathrooms, the Crema d’Orcia marble echoes the relaxing light tones that pervade the entire yacht. Special mention must be made of the large, luminous full-beam VIP cabin: a walk-through wardrobe partitions the sleeping area complete with ample study and a bathroom with twin sinks.   The spacious crew quarters toward the bow are laid out along a central corridor, including a pantry and 7 generous cabins with contemporary fittings, finishes and materials.   OWNER DECK   With 323 sqm for the owner’s exclusive use, this deck is notable for its harmonious symmetries, its great openness to the sea, and its eclectic blend of spaces with privacy uppermost in mind.   To the stern, a fabulous al fresco dining area links to the sky lounge for an unforgettable indoor–outdoor experience. The area includes a lounge zone for relaxed interactions and features some of Italy’s most prestigious design brands. The centrepiece is a custom-made round dining table identical to the one in the main-deck lounge. Ideal for breezy lunches and dinners, the table is a unique piece made with outdoor-friendly premium materials and finishes, like the bright steel apron and natural-teak top. The greens and whites of the furniture and fittings provide a custom look, recalling the colours of the American bar top with barbecue in exquisite Irish Green marble with striking bright-green veining. Linked via sinuous walkways both aft to the main deck and wheelhouse deck and to the outer deck at the bow, the area transforms easily into an open-air party zone with DJ console. With the console connected to the ship’s Domotics system, the audio can be broadcast throughout the yacht, indoors and out, in a controlled way. A custom designed RGB lighting installation completes the party effect.   Automatic sliding glass doors unveil the huge sky lounge, another space with a layout that reveals the different facets to its character. Bathed in light from the hull windows, it offers breath-taking sea vistas for the eye to dive right into. This multifunctional living space can be used as a social zone and cinema for relaxation and fun, as a games room for younger guests, or as a meeting room to work in complete comfort and privacy. As in the main saloon on the deck below, the walls and furnishings here also have neutral and white background tones. Superb details, finishes and features in shades of pastel turquoise – like the Azul Macauba marble top on the furniture unit at the bow and the exquisite raffia wallpapers – add to the marine mood running through the yacht.   Towards the bow, the owner suite lobby draws the eye with 3 magnificent hand-painted artworks on the walls. Created at the owner’s direction, these bespoke concept pieces depict a veritable jungle full of colourful animals.   The exclusive owner suite is a sophisticated haven of privacy. These palatial spaces with 180° windows offer peerless sea views, creating a powerful sense of openness and glorious luminosity. At the entrance, a walk-through wardrobe leads to a beautifully lit bathroom made with premium materials, from Calacatta Vagli Oro marble on the walls to the Crema d’Orcia marble floors. A unique feature is a spectacular tub by the windows for enjoying the view from the comfort of a warm bath. In the owner’s suite, the white tones of the lacquered oak on the walls set off the various shades of bright blue in the finishing and furnishings, like the antique-blue leather top on the furniture running around the windows. At the heart of the room, the fully custom king-size bed features a white-leather headboard with a 3D effect from the vertical petrol-blue leather inlay. To port, the study area has a desk made to the owner’s precise specifications: it can rotate by 90 degrees into an L-shape, so he can always enjoy a sea view while he works.   At the bow, the striking entirely open-air lounge spanning 115 sqm leads directly off the master cabin. Full privacy is always assured, as the area is secluded and out of the crew’s eye line. Here, a lounge area features a teak pool, recessed for privacy from the helm station and to be out of the wind when cruising; a canopy protects it from the sun when required. This great multipurpose outdoor space can also be opened up to guests and for parties, as a stunning dance floor under the stars.   The deck’s raison d’être – total privacy – is underlined by the design of the mooring area below, conceived so that on-board staff must access it directly from the crew zone, avoiding the owner’s private spaces.   WHEELHOUSE DECK   The wheelhouse deck hosts a spacious outdoor area for guests to relax in the spa zone and have fun in the sun. The fully custom pool is a welcome feature, raised and with a conveniently integrated sun pad along one side. This highly versatile area becomes a fully equipped open-air private cinema with a big screen and projector that slide down from the ceiling; it can also host lively karaoke evenings with friends. The outdoor lounge with comfy sofas includes an American bar with waterside seats; the beautiful Irish Green marble top forms a chromatic continuum with the one on the owner deck below.   Forward through the lobby past the captain’s cabin, the integrated helm station has a commanding position and excellent visibility. It vaunts 5 interchangeable screens and all the latest on-board technology; sliding panels on the Fenix top conceal the instruments when not in use. The helm leads to the spacious first officer’s cabin.   The yacht has a top speed of 15 knots and cruises at 12 knots, courtesy of her twin Caterpillar 3512C ACERT engines outputting 1,230 kW @ 1,800 rpm. The yacht is IMO Tier III-certified [1], assuring drastic reductions of 70% in harmful emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the engine exhaust.   M/Y RIO will make her debut with a world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show from 28 September to 1 October 2022.
