I have stayed here for maybe 4,5 times. My favorite little Inn at north end, Boston. Today I see snow. This place has only 11 rooms. Or is it 9? Anyway just small Inn. The staff will go home around 6:00ish. So if you arrive after the hour, there is the way to come in. Only one person stay for the security purpose all night long. (I think) But not staying at the front desk. They do have a complimentary breakfast. They do have an incredible view! And feel little isolated in a great way because this inn on the edge of the bay, but not really isolated physically. I will be staying here if the room is available every time I will come to Boston. I am hesitated to announce this jewel. I almost want to hide. But if you have chance enjoy staying here. If you need attention all the time from the staff, this may not be your place. When the staff is around, they are such a friendly kind staff. I love them.
Boutique hotel on the marina with unparalleled views of the harbor, attentive & friendly staff, recently renovated rooms with most amenities, complementary bottle of wine on arrival & breakfast is included, well appointed Captains Lounge with floor to ceiling glass for optimum harbor views, security guard at the gate, easy 9 min walk to the NE Aquarium & subway. We'll be back! (Limited on-site parking so check in early during busy season.)
Sunrise from the Captains Lounge
My wife treated to night in Boston for my 40th birthday and so happy we chose to stay at the Boston Yacht Haven Inn. It was located so close to the North End, The Pointe, as well as Shopping. The General Manager Mike, and maintenance guy Renea were so great! We had a beautiful room that looked out at the harbor. The inn was decorated so tastefully and had beautiful wooden beams and and furniture. We really enjoyed our experience and will be coming back soon!
This inn not only has the perfect location, but the staff is amazing and accommodating. Room is spacious and clean they provide free breakfast, free biscotti upon arrival. Will definitely be our new go to location.

We had the most beautiful time here for our wedding anniversary! We decided to splurge and got room 210 and it was an absolute dream, worth every penny for those beautiful views all the way around! The front desk was always so kind and helpful, especially the sweet younger girl. The only con was that the parking situation was weird, but apparently the parking nearby was $30/day anyway which was cheaper than theirs, so not really an issue just something to be aware of. We like to walk, so we loved that it was apart from downtown but still close enough to walk everywhere too. Perfect location, perfect views, perfect room, perfect stay!!!
Boston Yacht Haven is all about quality first. Great rooms, clean common areas & facilities, friendly staff, not to mention the best view of Boston Harbor you can get. The marina is kept remarkably well which is why yachts come from all over to stay. Whatever you are looking for in an an Inn + Marina you will find at BYH
I made a booking with Boston Yacht Haven Inn & Marina on 1 April through the inn's website. The promotional rate was for a specific room, and the completed booking was for one night in August 2021. The next day I received a call and email from the inn's general manager. The email stated the rate I booked through the hotel website was an error, and I could either pay the hotel 5 times the rate I booked, or they would cancel my reservation. I replied saying that I regretted their booking system had an error, but I would like to keep the booking I paid for at the rate that was agreed to when I booked it. The Yacht Haven Inn's general manager replied back and reiterated that I could give them 5 times what I had already paid (and implied that I should be grateful for even that deal), or he would cancel my hotel reservation if I hadn't paid the additional amount within 24 hours. Needless to say the experience felt like a hustle, and it is not one that I would wish on any guest or customer. Boston has a lot of options for hotels, and I recommend choosing one of the many others the city has to offer. Shouldn't be hard to find a place with better customer service.
We had an excellent stay at the Boston Yacht Haven. The staff, Cheryl and Rick, were extremely hospitable. They make you feel comfortable and welcomed with their friendly and helpful demeanor. Our room was spacious and had all of the comforts of home such as table/chairs, couch, coffee maker, waters, hairdryer, iron/board,etc...The best part about the room is the view of the harbor. Windows are scattered all over to ensure you see all of the sights on the water. You have an even better view when you step out on your giant patio. The patio is HUGE. We loved taking pictures, drinking coffee, and watching the boats go by on it. Staying here was a truly special one of a kind experience and I highly recommend it.

We've stayed here many times - and will continue to stay here many more times! We typically come in the off season - but would love to spend a night when there is a high traffic of boats coming in and out of the marina, I'm sure it would make the stay that much more pleasurable. The accommodations are unbelievable. On our latest stay, we did not have a ton of activities planned throughout the trip, and I couldn't have been happier to have been stuck on this hotel during the snow/ice storm. It had everything we could have wanted and more. We had a corner room which had phenomenal views a huge bathroom with a large shower, there isn't a bar so we brought a few bottles of wine and snacks, and relaxed in the room/downstairs lobby simply enjoying the amenities of the Inn. The next morning we were a little hung over but the homemade breakfast was a perfect fix. The only thing that I struggle with, is that it is off season and there were zero cars in the parking lot - and they couldn't even assist with parking... It would be nice in the winter when the members are quite as frequent to allow your few guests to park right outside of the hotel, at least a car per room (which I believe there are only 8 of anyways). Regardless, we are looking forward to returning for another enjoyable stay.
A gorgeous Inn overlooking Boston harbor. Our room was great- renovated a few years ago, timber peg wood, high ceilings and huge windows to let the sunlight in. Everyone we encountered who works here were very friendly and helpful. There's complimentary coffee, chips and chocolate. Mini fridge and microwave in the room too. They have a nice continental breakfast with small sandwiches, bread pudding, quiches, fruit, yogurt and different toasts. They don't have a liquor license so there's no bar inside and no room service but Joes is walking distance if you want a drink. The only thing we didn't love is if you want to park in their almost always completely empty parking lot they charge you $45 a night-outrageous.

The Morning
Affirmative action news is coming.
We’re covering college admissions after the Supreme Court’s decision.
By David Leonhardt
The Supreme Court’s affirmative action ruling last year upended admissions at selective colleges. Because they could no longer consider race, admissions officers — with oversight from their lawyers — had to overhaul their processes.
In coming weeks, we will learn about the results. With students back on campus, more colleges will report the racial makeup of their freshman classes. The colleges already have the data; they just haven’t yet announced it ( with the exception of M.I.T. ).
I’ve spoken frequently with university administrators about this subject in recent months. Today, I’ll offer a preview of the post-affirmative action landscape, organized around four points.
1. Variation is likely
Because M.I.T. reported its results first and experienced a sharp drop in Black and Latino students, it may be natural to assume that M.I.T. will be the norm. I’m not sure it will be, though.
M.I.T. isn’t a typical elite college. It focuses on STEM — science, technology, engineering and math — an area where Black and Latino underrepresentation is stark. M.I.T.’s recent announcement also contained a statistical anomaly that may have exaggerated the decline in Black and Latino students (as I explain below).
As more colleges report data, people inside higher education expect a wide variety of outcomes. Some colleges will probably have big declines. Others may have only modest changes.
2. Diversity isn’t cheating
Many conservatives are worried that colleges will cheat by continuing to consider race. Admissions decisions, after all, are subjective, and colleges often know an applicant’s race even though there is no longer a box to check. An article in The Atlantic last year even urged universities to defy the Supreme Court .
But it would be a mistake to conclude that any college that maintains high diversity levels has broken the law.
The court’s decision explicitly allows colleges to weigh the effects of race. “Nothing in this opinion should be construed as prohibiting universities from considering an applicant’s discussion of how race affected his or her life, be it through discrimination, inspiration or otherwise,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote. The key, Roberts added, was that the student “must be treated based on his or her experiences as an individual.”
Remember, there are huge racial gaps in the U.S. — in health, wealth, school resources, incarceration and more. Any college that truly accounted for socioeconomic disadvantage, as more now promise to do , would end up giving credit for overcoming adversity to many underrepresented minorities. That wouldn’t be breaking the law; it would be following Roberts’s orders.
Of course, it’s plausible that some colleges did cheat and secretly gave extra credit for race itself. The distinction is likely to be the subject of future lawsuits.
3. Class isn’t race
There was a detail in the numbers M.I.T. released last week that might seem surprising: Even as Black and Latino representation in this year’s entering class fell sharply, the number of lower-income students rose modestly. About one quarter of M.I.T.’s first-year students come from the bottom half of the U.S. income distribution.
Together, this data suggests that the Supreme Court’s decision may have most hurt upper-income Black and Latino applicants at M.I.T. — and most benefited lower-income Asian applicants. (The number of Asian students rose significantly.)
I’ll leave it to others to argue about whether this combination is good, bad or some of each . It’s certainly complicated.
4. The 120% anomaly
M.I.T., like many colleges, allows students to identify as having more than one race. As a result, its racial categories add up to more than 100 percent; any mixed-race student — both Black and Asian, say — counts in both categories.
Still, there was a strange pattern in M.I.T.’s data. The number of mixed-race freshmen this fall plunged compared with previous years, as you can see from these numbers:
M.I.T.’s Changing Demographics
Share of M.I.T. students who identify as each race
Classes of:
(current freshmen)
Black/African American
International
Asian American
How could this be? There are two leading possibilities.
First, a disproportionate number of the upper-income minority students whom M.I.T. didn’t admit this year may have been multiracial. Mixed-race families are increasingly common in well-off high schools. When these students were admitted in the past, they were counted twice in the data. And each one who no longer enrolls looks like two students in the data.
Second, the timing of M.I.T.’s data collection changed this year in a notable way. In the past, M.I.T. asked students to list their race when applying . This year, it asked about race only after students decided to enroll . It’s possible, then, that students who had a real claim on being a minority but didn’t identify strongly with that group — a white student with one parent from Argentina, say, or a multiracial student with some African heritage — might have been less likely to identify as Black or Latino this year than last year, when race-based affirmative action existed.
The numbers suggest that this anomaly might explain fully half the decline in underrepresented minorities. Regardless, the Black and Latino shares fell significantly, but the drop was probably smaller than the top-line data suggests.
The bottom line
If the overall number of Black and Latino students at selective colleges plummets this year, it will be cause for consternation. It would aggravate racial inequality because these colleges provide big economic benefits and have an outsize role in shaping the American elite. For now, the full picture remains uncertain. As we get more information, I’ll update you.
