No, this is not Monaco ... All these lounging super-yachts on a luxury marina, a luxurious promenade and luxurious apartment buildings, polished restaurants and shops are located in Tivat, Montenegro. Once a modest and ordinary city, Tivat survived a major reconstruction of its marina and surrounding area, and today it is a place where many tourists live and relax in the summer . Tivat, Montenegro is not on the list of the most popular travelers. There is no beautifully preserved Old Town in Tivat, such as Budva, and its center is not remarkable. But for us, Tivat was an ideal place for relaxation, work and, unlike the nearby city of Kotar, which is a major tourist center, gives a real feeling of everyday Montenegrin life.

Well, I understand that I just said that Tivat really does not have the Old Town. And this is not so. At least there are no well-preserved walled cities that can be found in most other major cities of the country. (Believe me, Kotar and Budva are just the beginning of some of the cool Old Towns that are worth exploring in Montenegro.) But technically, Tivat also has an Old Town. Tivat may be a small middle-class city, but Porto Montenegro in Tivat feels a little more ... how to put it ... as if you stumbled upon a set that mimics the French Riviera .

A walk to Donji Lastva is one of the best activities in Tivat (especially if you feel the need to select all seafood that you will definitely enjoy in the city.

If you are looking for a longer stroll, consider going to Gornia Lastva, the “twin village” of Donja Lastva. This ancient settlement is characterized by a picturesque combination of renovated stone houses (used mainly as summer houses), ancient ruins and olive groves. The olive mill operating in the village continues to be used today, and its beautiful 14th-century church, St. Mary's, serves as the center for events and festivals that take place in Mountain Lastva during the summer months. On a small hill above the village is a much older church St. Vida, built in the 9th century. We definitely recommend that you hike to St. View. (Follow the wide path, then follow the narrow shale road to the church.) From the top you can see breathtaking views of both sides of Kotar Bay, as well as distant mountains that remain snowy for most of the year. Ask us where to find the most beautiful sunsets in the world, and I will point you to El Nido, Palawan in the Philippines. But the sunsets over Kotar Bay are no worse. And considering that there is not a single big mountain along this path, as in the city of Kotar, I think it’s clear why we think that taking the time to enjoy the sunset is one of the best activities in Tivat.

Park in one of the many hotels or cafes along the bay, order a cold beer or (our personal favorite) ridiculously available coffee with milk and watch the sky turn pink and purple .

We had a great day on Azi’s boat. The listing was exactly as pictured and we spent the day at various swimming locations enjoying the sun! Azi was amazing, would definitely book again.

Dean was easy to work with, and his dad who was our skipper for the day was so kind and passionate about the water and also willing to share a lot of interesting history about the area! We thoroughly enjoyed our day on the boat. We saw some touristy areas like the blue cave, as well as some small quiet villages for a lunch. Great day with great company! You'll enjoy your boat day if you book with Dean!

Dean was extremely helpful. Due to bad weather we were moving the reservation 2 times, and Dean made it happen. Boat was exactly as described, everything working perfectly. The Kotor Bay is buetiful. I recommend.

Perfect rental experience , will defiantly use Dean again with our next Montenegro holiday ! Easy booking and professional communication, we loved cruising Kotor bay!
