Come aboard for lots of fun in the sun on this high-value, 5-hour excursion that’s both relaxing and action-packed.

Leila is a 50-foot long, 28-foot wide motorized sailing catamaran that was built right here on Kauai, by a crew led by our company’s founder. Leila’s sleek design was ahead of its time when she was constructed in the 1990s and she’s aged like a fine wine, having been meticulously maintained, modified, and updated with the latest marine technology all these years. Sailboat enthusiasts will appreciate her design that doesn’t just look beautiful but is functional as well– her skinny hulls and low center-of-gravity provide superior stability and comfort in comparison with top-heavy, double-decker boats. There’s plenty of room to spread out on Leila , lots of shade, two bathrooms, and even a slide off the stern!

Once on board, we’ll enjoy a continental breakfast of cheesy scrambled eggs, breakfast pastries, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate as we motor west and north out of Port Allen, along Kauai’s beachy and arid westside. Your captain will narrate the journey with authentic stories, legends, and facts about Kauai’s history and geology and our friendly crewmembers will be right there to anticipate your needs and help you have the best day ever—taking your picture, taking your plate, answering your questions, showing you to the bathroom, etc.

All day, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for ocean wildlife such as Hawaiian spinner dolphins, green sea turtles, flying fish, pelagic sea birds, and seasonally (December – April)—humpback whales that have migrated more than 3,000 miles from Alaska to Hawaii for their winter breeding and calving season.

After we pass the longest stretch of beach in Hawaii, Polihale Beach, we’ll begin to enter the heart of the sacred Napali Coast Hawaii State Wilderness Area. Here, your jaw will drop, and your heart will swell as your eyes behold one of the most stunning places on the planet. Words don’t do justice to the magnificence that nature has created over more than five million years of volcanic activity and erosion. Her 4,000-foot cliffs, dozens of waterfalls, pristine beaches, sea caves, sea arches, and general astounding beauty will have you feeling all the feels and then some.

Somewhere along the way, your Captain will use their discretion, taking into account the day’s particular ocean conditions, in choosing where to stop for Kauai snorkeling. We have quality snorkel gear in all sizes for everyone, including masks, fins, goggles, and flotation devices. Your crew members will cover basic snorkeling instruction before jumping in the water with you, on paddleboards, to be sure everyone’s having a safe and enjoyable swimming and snorkeling experience. Conditions permitting, we’ll spend about 50 minutes in the water and of course, anyone that doesn’t feel like snorkeling is welcome to stretch out on Leila and simply enjoy being out on the water, with nothing but the peaceful sounds of waves lapping against the hulls.

After sightseeing and snorkeling, it’s lunch time! We have a fresh, colorful, and satisfying lunch of build-your-own sandwiches, crisp veggies with ranch and hummus, noodle salad, and fresh baked cookies. Holo Holo Charters is the only Kauai boat tour company to be certified Ocean Friendly by the Surfrider Foundation, and all our meals are served on “real” plates with real silverware and reusable cloth napkins. No single-use serving ware here folks! Beverage-wise, we’ve got water, juices, sodas, and a nice selection of domestic and Hawaii craft beers, hard seltzers, and wine spritzers that you’re welcome to enjoy after snorkeling.

Heading south, back towards Port Allen, is typically when Kauai’s trade winds are favorable for downwind sailing. Your crew members will hoist Leila’s main sail and unfurl the jib sail, and Captain will turn off the motors, allowing us to travel along solely by the power of the wind. Sailing is such a feeling–  so peaceful and yet so powerful! As the wind allows, we’ll typically enjoy about 30 minutes of sailing before it’s time to motor back to Port Allen, returning safely and on time.

The Morning Na Pali Tour starts with check-in at 6:30- 7:00 a.m. It may be a little cooler than our afternoon tour, so bring a windbreaker just in case. This Na Pali Coast snorkel tour will showcase the beauty of Kauai, as well as its Hawaiian marine life. 

We depart Hanalei Bay around 7:30 a.m. and return approximately 4 hours later at around 11:30 a.m. Snorkel equipment and floatation devices are provided, as well as a waterproof dry-bag.

Please note that we do not guarantee snorkeling or entrance into sea caves. Our goal is always to provide the best tour possible, given the day’s weather and ocean conditions. Safety is priority #1 always.

While our winter tours will be 3 hours long, as opposed to our standard 4-hour tours during peak season, the focus will be on captivating sightseeing and wildlife viewing along the Na Pali Coast. Please note that lunch is not provided, as we aim to reduce waste in the event of a tour cancellation. Snorkeling and sea cave exploration are less likely during the winter months, but our captains will always monitor the conditions and may have opportunities to incorporate these activities if the weather permits. Your safety is our priority, and you can rest assured that our tours will be conducted in the safest and most responsible manner possible. Our seasoned captains and crew members are committed to ensuring your well-being at all times, and we will not hesitate to cancel any tour if the conditions are deemed unsuitable. This five-hour tour along the majestic Napali Coast takes you to see some of the most impressive natural wonders in Hawaii. The lush green cliffs and razor sharp ridges are the result of centuries of volcanic power paired with rain, storms, and the endless motion of the sea. Rising to 3500 feet above the sea, these steep cliffs are mostly inaccessible from land and can be best appreciated from a short distance offshore, aboard a sailing vessel.

Embark on an unforgettable adventure along the stunning Na Pali Coast with the Na Pali Explorer Power Catamaran Scenic and Snorkel Tour. This tour is perfect for those who want to experience the beauty of the Na Pali Coast without the physically strenuous parts of other tours.

The tour begins with a mandatory check-in at Kikiaola Boat Harbor, where you will board the Marina A, the fastest large-scale catamaran that departs from the harbor. As you journey towards the Na Pali Coast, you will have the opportunity to spot Hawaii’s amazing marine wildlife, including dolphins, sea turtles, and humpback whales in the right season.

Once you reach the coastline, the captains will take you up close to waterfalls and sea caves at the base of Kauai’s 3,500 ft tall sea cliffs. You will also hear about the amazing history of the Na Pali Coast and stop at the best possible photo spots to capture this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The adventure continues to Makole, a pristine snorkeling spot along the base of the Na Pali Coast, where you will experience a wonderful blue ocean snorkel complete with Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles and a vast array of beautiful reef fish. Description

For true tradewind sailing on Kauai join the crew of Holoholo Charters on the Leila Na Pali Snorkel Sail tour. You will sail aboard "Leila", a beautiful 48' sailing catamaran. When the winds permit, they sail while having you are enjoying a continental breakfast on the way to the Na Pali Coast. As you head toward your destination the crew will be entertaining you with stories of the Hawaiians who once lived in this beautiful area. Considered to be "The Jewel of Kauai" with 3,000 foot cliffs, green valleys, hidden beaches, secluded waterfalls and breathtaking beauty, the Na Pali coast is a sight to be enjoyed from sea level.

Reservations: Advanced reservations are necessary! A credit card is required to confirm your tour date as Holoholo Charters will charge for this event when your reservation is finalized.

Tour includes: Snorkel gear, locally made reef safe sunscreen, continental breakfast, deli lunch. Free beverages all day — with beer and wine served after the snorkel.

Restrictions: No pregnant women, no one with neck or back injuries, and no children under 5 are permitted. Full face snorkel masks are not allowed.

What to Bring and Wear: Wear swimsuits and bring a towel.

Minimum Notice for Cancellations / Changes: For parties of 1-5, cancellation must be made at least 48 hours before the start of the event. For parties of 6 or more, cancellation must be made a minimum of 7 full days prior to tour date.

The Na Pali coastline is truly breathtaking ... because of the scenic beauty and open ocean exposure, these trips are often better for sightseeing than for snorkeling. This is especially true during winter when this area gets big swells. Sailing catamarans have a wonder feel to them ... and Holoholo's "Leila" is likely to sail for at least part of the trip. There is nothing like the silence of cutting through the water without the roar of a diesel engine! Lying on the trampoline at the front of the boat you'll find yourself saying "Job? What job???"

Some Sailing Catamarans in Hawaii are really just power catamarans that happen to have a mast and sail that is more ornamental than functional. We've seen masts and sails that consistently go unused on many tours. This definitely is NOT the case with Leila. She is a true sailing catamaran with great sailing performance and they will sail on every tour if conditions are right!

"The 35’ Deluxe Catamaran “Cadillac of the Caves” was AMAZING! Do not miss this when you’re in Kauai. Brian and Capt. Nate were fun, kind, knowledgeable, patient…all the things. They personally made sure every single person was comfortable and having fun the whole time. They shared tons of knowledge about Kauai and the Napali coast, played music, made us laugh, and were obviously capable and at ease on the ocean. The deluxe catamaran was big enough to be comfortable, but small enough to fit in caves and be an exciting ride. My husband and 7 year old sat in bench seats in the middle of the boat, while my 10 year old and I rode up front for a more exciting ride. We stopped to snorkel and they provided good equipment. They also put out snacks and drinks while we were in the water. They made sure everyone had enough time in the water and didn’t feel rushed back. Our family all took Dramamine the night before and again about an hour before we got on the boat, and we all felt fine the whole time. Do take similar precautions if you’re at all worried about sea sickness. I cannot recommend this company and experience highly enough. It was one of my favorite days ever! It was the experience of a lifetime to take in the gorgeous scenery in such a fun and exciting way. The experience and memories are worth the price. Book it!

Experience the majestic Na Pali coast, Kauai, on the custom-built catamaran “Lucky Lady”. Snorkel, sail (conditions permitting), view towering sea cliffs, waterfalls, sea caves, pristine beaches, and remote wilderness coastline. Captains narrate Hawaiian history & legends. Encounter Spinner Dolphins, Turtles and Humpback Whale watching in season (Dec.-Mar.) Join us for the best day of your vacation! We provide quality gear, instruction, and safety snorkel vests. Snorkeling gear & swim vests provided.
