Rob is from Dorset in the UK, and has grown up sailing dinghies from a young age. He raced competitively through school and university, while working at his local marinas during his holidays. He has been working full time on yachts for seven years, five of which were spent on the J Classyacht Hanuman, cruising and racing in New England, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. When not sailing, Rob enjoys spending his time travelling, kite-surfing or up in the mountains. Beth is originally from Plymouth, Massachusetts where she was raised in and on the water. Studying marine biology in University afforded Beth the opportunity to combine her interest in marine science with her long term passion of SCUBA. Being highly influenced by her father who was a commercial fisherman and world traveler, Beth eventually took opportunities to work on many different types of vessels around the world including research vessels, dive live a boards and luxury charter yachts. With these experiences came a new found passion for cooking and she has had the opportunity to work for and learn from other highly experienced chefs along the way. Beth loves SCUBA, competitive sport fishing, music, traveling and learning about foods from around the world. Jennie grew up in the coastal town of Falmouth in the UK, she has never been far from the sea. From a young age, she raced dinghies and keel boats with father and brother, as well as cruised around the South of England on her family’s boat, and has a degree in Silver-smithing and Gold-smithing,and worked for a professional jeweler for two years after graduating. However, the call of the sea proved too much, so the yachting industry has been her home for the past five years, four of which were spent on the 140’ Ketch Rebecca. Known as “Chico”, he is from Albufeira in south of Portugal. He grew up with the sea and since a very early age sailed dinghies and swam.During school vacations he worked in different jobs, all related to the sea, lifeguard, deckhand, skipper. He graduated in Marine Electronics Engineeringfrom the Portuguese Maritime College and decided to jump in a leap of faith andsee the world. Jay has been sailing all his life starting in the north of England with small sailing dinghies, then onto more serious racing and competing in world championships before moving onto super yachts in 2006. He has traveled extensively on land as well as on the sea. He completed his dive master qualification in the crystal waters of Borneo where the amazing underwater sea life ignited a passion for underwater photography. Jay takes every opportunity to hone his skills with the goal of entering competitions. He enjoys sending guests home with souvenir photos of their snorkeling expeditions. Jay grew up in the countryside and has a love of the outdoors with mountain biking being a big passion, along with other action sports including windsurfing, skiing, snowboarding an drafting. He is responsible for keeping Kawil’s water toys ‘at the ready’ for guests and is a cheerful, patient instructor. Growing up on the sunny beaches of Cape Town, Robyn's love for the ocean started at young age, however sailing was something she wasn't introduced to sailing until a lot later in life when living in the UK. Whilst working for a yacht design company just a stone’s throw from where she lives in the New Forest, Robyn was swept up in the world of super yachts and very quickly became intrigued by a life style she knew she'd love - traveling, sailing and working with people. After landing a role as a deckhand/stew she learned the ropes very quickly and went on to work in both the modern &classic sailing yacht world before taking a break & moving to Central America to follow another passion, surfing. Returning to yachts, for an itch that couldn't be scratched whilst living in one spot, she is eager to keep exploring and learning. With a love of scuba, water sports, learning Spanish& yoga, Robyn hopes to combine it all to keep living her incredible adventure. DestinationsFrequently Asked QuestionsHow much to charter kawil. Five yachts competing at the 2023 Superyacht Challenge AntiguaAs the Superyacht Challenge Antigua returns to the island this week (6-12 March), we take a look at the line-up of yachts vying for the top prize – a barrel of rum – in one of the first Caribbean regattas of the year... No regatta is complete without a Huisman-built sailing yacht charging through the field and Action is a familiar face on the regatta circuit. The 37.3-metre sailing yacht will be competing in this regatta for the second year in a row and will showcase the best of her Dutch creators Dykstra Naval Architects and Royal Huisman . After winning her class last year she is the defending champion and will undoubtedly put up a tough challenge to her competitors in 2023. Catalina is part of the history of the Superyacht Challenge Antigua, as her former owners, the Gosnells, donated the ship’s bell which is now the only trophy awarded at the event. The Gosnell Trophy is won through a peer vote for the yacht which has “competed in the spirit of the regatta." Previously named Timoneer , the 44.8-metre yacht was built at Vitters with exterior design and naval architecture by Dubois Naval Architects . Catalina has been cruising around America since competing in last year's event and has scaled the west coast of the US in the past six months. Gitana was built-in New Zealand by Fitzroy Yachts and delivered in 2009. Previously known as Salperton and Palmira , she has been a regatta winner since she left the shipyard and has been nominated for multiple awards in her lifetime including Best Sailing Yacht 45m+ at the 2010 World Superyacht Awards. She received a refit in 2017 and 2020 ensuring her already well-equipped sloop has been kept in racing shape. Exterior design and naval architecture on the 45 metre are courtesy of Dubois Naval Architects . The Sparkman & Stephens sailing yacht Kawil is another regular on the superyacht regatta circuit. She has travelled far and wide to compete in some of the most prestigious events around the world and even lifted the first-place trophy at the New Zealand Millennium Cup regatta in 2020. Kawil started life in America at the Derecktor Shipyard and can sleep six guests in three cabins with a spacious pilothouse that provides wind and sun protection. Having missed out on first place in her class by a mere point last year, she will no doubt be back with a vengeance at this year's event. Zig Zag is entering the Superyacht Challenge Antigua for her seventh year in a row and has previously won the Gosnell Trophy at the 2020 regatta. She was built by Southampton shipyard Oyster to a design by Humphreys Yacht Design and is one of 17 Oyster 82 models built. At 25 metres long, she is one of the smallest yachts competing in this year's regatta, but this British beauty certainly packs a punch having just won the 2022-2023 Southern Ocean Racing Conference in Port Canaveral. 34m charter yacht KAWIL storms to victory at New Zealand Millennium Cup 2020- Share this on Facebook

By Katia Damborsky 4 February 2020 A new entrant to the competition, the 34m/111ft sailing yacht KAWIL took home the gold at the NZ Millennium Cup . Held between 29 January - 1 February, the 2020 NZ Millennium Cup saw a fleet of five sailing yachts take on a challenging course around the Bay of Islands off the southern coast of New Zealand. After three days of racing it was KAWIL which came out on top, followed closely by the largest yacht in the fleet; 55m/179ft sailing yacht ADELE . Other participants in the race included 34m/110ft charter yacht SILVERTIP and Royal Huisman’s 34m/112ft sailing yacht SASSAFRAS . The pair enjoyed a well-timed start to the races on the final day, with plenty of sharp turns and well-executed maneuvers to keep onlookers entertained. The winner of the 2017 edition, the 39.7m/130.5ft superyacht ‘Janice of Wyoming’ was also participating in the races this year, but incurred a penalty on the final day for sailing too close to, and subsequently crossing, the starting line. The prize-giving ceremony saw the crew of KAWIL take home first place. They are expected to be returning to the Bay of Islands for next year’s regatta, which is due to take place between February 15-18 2021. They will be joined by Sassafras, Janice of Wyoming, Silvertip and last year’s winner Tawera. To learn more about a regatta charter, please get in touch with your preferred yacht charter broker .
