- Katy Stickland
Lord Alan Sugar is asking €14 million (£12.34 million) for his superyacht Lady A. The craft was put on the market last summer after undergoing a year-long refit. See inside this exclusive yacht
The Apprentice star Lord Alan Sugar put his luxury superyacht – Lady A – on the market last summer, after the stunning craft underwent a year-long refit.
On sale through the superyacht brokers Edmiston , the British business magnate and Apprentice star is asking €14 million, around £12.34 million, for the 181-foot vessel.
When the superyacht was first put on sale in the summer of 2017, it cost £12.65 million, but the weaker pound means that if snapped up now, the new owner would save £300,000.

The Jon Bannenberg designed Lady A has gone through an intensive year-long refit at Burgess Marine.
The work has included an extension to the aft end of the upper deck to increase the exterior seating and social spaces, a redesigned and refitted interior, new paintwork and the installation of zero speed stabilizers.
Lady A was first launched in 1986 and was built in Japan by Nishii Zosen-Sterling for the Australian tycoon, Alan Bond, who named the vessel Southern Cross.

The Lady A: inside Lord Sugar's superyacht, for sale for £12.2million
Alan Sugar's 181ft superyacht, with Jacuzzi, two dining areas and space for 12 people to sleep is for sale for £12.2 million.
But while it waits for a buyer, the superyacht was spotted cruising the Thames moored near Tower Bridge during the bank holiday heatwave, according to MailOnline .
Lord Sugar bought the luxury vessel in 2015 and renamed her Lady A, after his wife of 50 years, Ann.
The billionaire businessman then gave Lady A a total refit, which cost £11.8 million and took 10 months.
The party ship now features marble sculptures, glass walls to make the most of the views, walnut cabinetry and solid timber floors.
There are six luxury en suite cabins sleeping up to 12 people.
The Owner's cabin on the lower deck complete with a private study, own Jacuzzi, shower room and dressing room. There are three further guest cabins on the lower deck, all with double beds and an inside dining room where guests can dine in privacy.
On the main deck, sailors can enjoy a seating area with a lounge, large dining space and plenty of comfortable seating, with an additional covered seating area if the weather turns.
A VIP guest cabin and twin guest cabin make up the rest of the rooms on this floor.
The top deck features a spacious lounge area as well as a vast space for sunbathing, and further aft deck dining and lounge area. A second Jacuzzi, a bar and sun awnings offer further opportunities to relax.
The superyacht has been on sale since late last year and has already received a great deal of interest, according to Nicholas Edmiston, of Edmiston , who are brokering the sale.

“Her heritage and recent refit mean that she represents a fairly unique opportunity; a modern classic design that is ready to go,” he says.
“Lady A’s guest areas are perhaps her most notable feature, from the main salon with its curved window-line to the vast sun deck, flanked by Bannenberg’s architectural wings.”
The yacht was originally built in 1986 and designed by Jon Bannenburg, arguably the world’s premier yacht designer.
“A feature of Bannenberg’s design is the innovative use of glass, with radius, circular and full-height sections adding both stylistic elements and also great views,” says Edmiston.
Lady A was refitted in 2017 to include an extension to the aft end of the upper deck to increase the seating areas further as well as given a comprehensive refit indoors.
The asking price for the yacht is £12.2 million .

Shandor - the mother of all expedition yachts
Back in 1986, a 46 metre superyacht called Margaux Rose created waves in the superyacht world when she was launched. But it was not the spectacular style of her launch – complete with hot air balloon rising from her foredeck and helicopter alighting exactly on the H of the helipad – so much as the yacht itself. Not only did her layout flout convention but she also looked like a commercial ship. Most surprising of all, she had been conceived by Gianni Agnelli, chairman of Fiat, billionaire bon viveur and a man of supreme style, grace and sartorial splendour.
A passionate sailor, Agnelli is better remembered for his sailing yachts, among them Tiziana , Extra Beat and the inimitable Stealth , but he had the foresight to envisage and build what was probably the first example of today’s world-roaming expedition yachts – an innovation that created a new class of yacht specifically built for voyaging the world in safety, comfort and luxury.
For her design, Agnelli turned to renowned German naval architect Gerhard Gilgenast, while designer of the day Jon Munford undertook her interior design. Schweers, the shipyard chosen to build her, was also the best of its kind, specialising in naval gunships and long-range fishing trawlers.
Such an unprecedented yacht required a hardcore engine, and none other than a MAK would do. This marine version of a power station generator is designed to run continuously and is routinely fitted to single screw fishing trawlers and coastguard vessels. It is the engine that she still has to this day.
Equally over-specified were her bespoke hull – evaluation of thousands of commercial seagoing ships and freighters resulted in an efficient single screw design with the ability to withstand the worst possible weather conditions – and equipment, while her 100,000 litre fuel capacity ensured a 5,600 nautical mile range at 14 knots and, if she slowed down, up to 7,200 nautical miles. Indeed she has a trans-Pacific range, which translates into the potential ability to cross the Atlantic and back on one tank of fuel.
Unlike other yachts of her day, she stowed her tenders forward in a well deck, while instead of a lazarette, her stern contained a spacious dining room and a discotheque lounge on a slightly lower level that gave direct access to the bathing platform.
The well deck, or boat deck, is a special feature of this yacht that topped Agnelli’s list of requirements. He wanted crew, tenders and their work to be removed from guests, and so as well as tender and equipment stowage this area serves as access to the crew quarters and working areas in the bow, and is easily managed by the captain from the bridge. However, with the tenders launched and a live band positioned on the raised foredeck it makes a fantastic party area too.
Agnelli’s second requirement was an elevator which runs from the lower cabin deck to the sun deck. It is used by crew to speed up service but also allows less agile guests to move easily between decks. When the yacht is under way, the elevator locks into its lower position, thereby enhancing stability.
Gianni Agnelli was only the first in a small but illustrious line of owners – among them UK businessman and Labour peer Lord Alan Sugar, who named her Louisiana , and US media mogul and game showman Merve Griffin, who christened her The Griff . Her present owner bought her in 2003, naming her Shandor after a family dressage horse, and she has remained in family use ever since, cruising and circumnavigating the world as she was built to do.
Shandor still has her stern disco – a veritable party room that could also serve as a nightclub, cinema or even gymnasium. With its bathing platform access this area has been used as a cocktail reception area, most notably during the Monaco Grand Prix. The sliding doors to the adjacent dining room can be opened to enlarge the area even further.
Up from the split-level dining room/disco the bridge deck offers a more sedate living and dining area that opens aft through wide doors to a shaded aft deck, complete with a large alfresco dining table and comfortable seating around the edge.
The spacious owner’s suite is located on the main deck where it spans the full beam amidships with a separate en suite bathroom, dressing room and study aft.
Four further guest cabins are situated on the lower deck – two doubles and two twins with Pullmans, allowing for a party of up to 12 guests at a time.
The crew of 11 occupies the two-deck crew quarters, while the captain has his own cabin aft of the bridge. Also adjoining the bridge is the original radio room which lends itself to being converted into a dispensary, sick bay, office or staff cabin.
The sun deck itself is a unique area with a bar (often used for meals, too), a spa pool, sunloungers, massive cushioned areas and a forward observation area covered by parasols, where guests can dine or relax on comfortable banquettes.
Refits in 1994, 2000 and 2008 have kept Shandor in peak mechanical condition and increased her length to 49.95 metres. Her original interior has also been refreshed in a modern classic style by designers H2.
As well as being supremely seaworthy, Shandor is also a comfortable ride. She does not go much faster than 16 knots but at her optimum cruising speed of 13.5 knots she is stable and quiet. Although not ice-classed, Shandor ‘s Lloyd’s certification to travel in any waters was renewed at the time of her last refit in 2008. Shandor was sold again in 2012 – she was asking €6,975,000.

Businessman Alan Sugar shot to mainstream fame when he appeared in the Apprentice
Alan Sugar is so proud of his wealth that he recently shared with his fans a photo of a cheque he had written to the taxman for a staggering £59 million.
However, I can reveal that Lord Sugar of Clapton has put his most treasured possession on the market amid great mystery.
He is selling his 181ft superyacht, named Lady A after his wife, Ann, with a price tag of £12.6 million.
The glitzy gin palace includes a Jacuzzi and sleeps up to 12 guests in en-suite luxury.
Alex Koersvelt, at Edmiston Luxury Yacht Brokers, confirms the sale, but declines to discuss Lord Sugar’s reasons for putting it on the market.
No doubt he fears The Apprentice star telling him: ‘You’re fired!’ Sugar, who could not be reached for comment yesterday, was spotted in June aboard Lady A in Puerto Banus, on Spain’s Costa del Sol, shortly after he had spoken publicly about his tax bill.
Posting a picture of his £58,646,028.44 cheque to the taxman, he wrote: ‘To those who have responded to my advice not to vote for [Jeremy] Corbyn saying I want to avoid paying tax.’
According to the Sunday Times Rich List, the 70-year-old tycoon, who is based in Chigwell, Essex, has a fortune of £1.25 billion.
Alan Sugar is selling his 181ft superyacht, named Lady A after his wife, Ann, with a price tag of £12.6 million
Sugar bought the yacht in 2015 for an undisclosed sum and renamed her Lady A, even though his wife, Ann, should correctly be referred to only as Lady Sugar or Lady S.
The couple have been married since 1968 and have two sons and a daughter.
The yacht has marble sculptures on the top deck, one twin guest and four double cabins, plus a state room that seats 12.
It was built in 1986 and named Southern Cross by its first owner, Australian tycoon Alan Bond, who sold her when he went bankrupt.
Perhaps Sugar plans to follow the example of Donald Trump, who presented the U.S. version of The Apprentice, and stand for election? The yacht could go down badly with hard-pressed voters.
Now over-sexed Spencer swaps ring with lover
Is Pippia Middleton’s brother-in-law, Spencer Matthews, who has boasted of sleeping with more than 1,000 women, including his best pal’s girlfriend, finally settling down?
The former Made In Chelsea star, who turned 28 yesterday, has been going out with Irish model Vogue Williams for five months (an eternity for him) and the couple have now exchanged rings.
Spencer Matthews has been dating Irish model Vogue Williams for five months and the couple have now exchanged rings
This weekend, the Old Etonian took Vogue, 31, on a romantic trip to Amsterdam, above left, where they showed off gold bands engraved with their initials, ‘S’ and ‘V’, right.
‘Yes we are that couple!’ gushed Vogue, who thanked the jeweller who had created the rings.
Not only does roly-poly retailer Sir Philip Green have the worry of his daughter Chloe courting ‘hot felon’ Jeremy Meeks, but now his most persistent critic has been commissioned to write a book exposing his colourful past.
I hear Penguin is to pay journalist Oliver Shah, whom Green called ‘a disgusting individual’, a whopping £100,000 for the biography.

ALAN sugar’s luxury £12million superyacht complete with a Jacuzzi and six cabins has been spotted on the Thames.
The billionaire’s 181-ft long Lady A was seen moored near Tower Bridge in central London.
The prized yacht - named after The Apprentice boss' wife Ann - can easily sleep up to 12 guests in luxurious en-suite quarters.
Lady A – which is reportedly still up for sale after being put on the market last year - has marble sculptures on the top deck and inside features a state room capable of seating 12 people.
It was built in 1986 and named Southern Cross by first owner Alan Bond, who sold it after he went bankrupt.
Lord Sugar snapped up the superyacht in 2015 after buying it from StealthGas CEO Harry Vafias.
The vessel also features a private study and the upper deck has been extended to fit more seating.
Speaking in 2017, Alex Koersvelt, at Edmiston Luxury Yacht Brokers, confirmed to Mail Online that the yacht has been put on the market for £12.6 million.
It comes after The Apprentice host shared an image of a £59million tax bill he paid to the Government in
He said: "To the people who have responded to my advice not to vote for [Jeremy] Corbyn saying I want to avoid paying tax. I paid this personally in January".
Lord Sugar, who was previously a Labour peer, later said that voters “cannot be serious to place the UK in the hands of Corbyn and the likes”.
