The top 50 most exclusive yacht clubs in the world honored with platinum status.
Royal Yacht Squadron in England
The rich and famous are not merely looking for the best place to anchor their yachts; they are also seeking out exclusive memberships in stunning destinations, all offering luxury amenities and, of course, bragging rights. These exclusive yachting clubs with often outrageous initiation fees, provide luxurious clubhouses, and provide accommodations for yachties who want to get their land legs. Most of them provide high-end concierge service to its members as well as Michelin-star quality restaurants and more.
Yacht Clubs have been recognized in the Platinum Clubs of America elections for more than 20 years. According to the Platinum Club, “Recognition in the following categories is important in the selection of Platinum status; Tradition, history, and heritage, a respected membership, excellence in amenities, exceptional service, adapting to changing times, and overall experience.
I spoke with the President of Club Leaders Forum, David V. Smith, about the selection, and he says, “we created an alphabetical selection this time as opposed to by rank because we felt that it was challenging to compare a yacht club in Ireland with a yacht club in Singapore, as amenities, location and facilities do vary quite a lot. The yachting and boating world is a different and unique culture, typically a little more relaxed and not as formal as country clubs and golf clubs. However, many of the world’s finest yacht clubs have wonderful history and traditions, with a great sense of camaraderie among their members. Certain yacht clubs were selected by the Panel not necessarily for their facilities and amenities but in their recognition of hosting world class sailing regattas and events.”
Here are the top 50 most exclusive yacht clubs worldwide being awarded the ultimate Platinum Status for 2021.

Welcome to the biggest, friendliest and most inclusive yacht club on Lake Michigan, bringing together folks from all walks of life. While we have our blue-blazer traditions, no one ever called us stuffy. What you'll find is a more laid-back vibe that invites people to just be themselves, away from the pressures of life in general. We're a busy gathering place year round, unlike typical yacht clubs that go into winter hibernation.
Dues and slip fees are surprisingly affordable, in part because our passionate members help maintain the place. Being a major Great Lakes yacht club, we host an exciting sailing and power boating scene. Yet, a growing segment of members don't even own boats. For them, SSYC is all about fellowship, in the most romantic spot on Milwaukee's lakefront. Smack in the heart of the city's most happening neighborhood.
What's it like to be a member? It's different for everyone. You can carve out your own experience and pick your context. But we believe one thing is true across the board. Among private clubs in metropolitan Milwaukee, South Shore Yacht Club gives you one of the best experiences for the money.

I would recommend EYC to everybody. It is a great place to enjoy a reasonably priced meal while taking in a beautiful view. We had a reservation for Father's Day. We all enjoyed the time spent at the restaurant. They have a very friendly staff, especially, the manager named Mike. Can't wait to go back!
I have reciprocity from another marina. We sat for 20 minutes before finally going to the bar to ask if we could order. We got boneless wings and Moscow mules. Both were delicious. But the service was horrible. The waiter finally came out 20 minutes after we ordered from the bar. The bar people acted like we were craft asking if we could order from the bar yet they were all standing around talking and ignoring us as customers. Finally they kind of started waiting on us but mostly we had to go to the bar. The chicken was awesome so the cooks are good but everyone else ignores the customers. The other customers on the deck felt the same.
City view from Restaurant.
In terms of Cleveland area yacht clubs, Edgewater is one of the best. Located right next to Edgewater Metropark, the location is top-notch. Not only can you adventure around that beautifully kept park, but also the direct proximity to EYC makes for a lovely adventure. The EYC has a well-maintained pool, a restaurant that serves legitimate cuisine and skilled bartenders who are interested in making sure you're having a good time. There is also dedicated parking for members and guests. This is one of my few true happy nautical places in CLE. I love when Cleveland Race Week rolls through the EYC. But really, the good stuff: they do Junior Sail Teams and Race Camps, which I totally love. The Cleveland Sailing Association also has regattas there, which are a treat to either by a part of or simply enjoy from the patios. In general, there's always races or programming happening to get involved. It might be some of the best programming in the area. Docking your boat at the EYC is easy despite their limited space, and the views of Downtown Cleveland are unparalleled. Also, if you're not a boater/sailor, they also do social memberships.
I wish I could give this place a negative review. Laura (Karen basically lol), 'the manager', was so rude and screamed at multiple tables. I've never been more embarrassed to be at an establishment. So ridiculous for a club! Wish I could leave multiple bad reviews!
If I could leave the restaurant zero stars, I would. Management is very unprofessional. A manager named Laura I believe (she had short red hair) was very rude and told the table next to us to "shut up". That is very unprofessional. Coming from a manager that was the worst possible way to approach an issue. Will be taking my business else where.
Dining room, bar, pool side and patio food service available. Reasonable menus prices. Bar pub style food on regular menus with nicer specials in weekends. Closed most Mondays during the day. Service can be slow if you sit in a remote area, but walk up service in the bar is always available, prompt and efficient. On slow days sticking close to the menu basics is a good idea. On popular days everything can be good. Homemade soups and clam chowder. Big well prepared burgers and sandwiches. Several interesting salads and vegetarian selections. Special preparation requests are normally accommodated. Restaurant closes earlier than some other regular places. 8-9:00 depending on evening and time of year. Bar is always open. Stiff low priced drinks. Friendly people at lunch and dinner most night in bar. Easy place to be at for a meal or dinner alone.
It's great to see a Club that cares for it's Members and Staff when it comes to health and safety during these Covid-19 times! Sanitizing and cleaning are top notch. The Pool is very organized with it's safe distancing and booking reservations in place. You can't beat the fresh, made to order menu varieties for lunch and dinner. The Waters Edge Grille weekend menu has been the best ever with their fun and delicious themed menus!
I'm not a member and I'm not a boater, so maybe I have no business writing a review, but I won't let that stop me. :-) A friend of mine is a member and every time I go, I'm struck by the friendliness and utter lack of pretension here. Drinks are stiff (albeit made with Paramount well). The food isn't great but the setting is. In the unlikely event that I ever had a boat, this is the kind of place I'd keep it.
We sailed over to Edgewater to grab some lunch the other day. There was only one other couple eating there, but we seated ourselves and waited for a server. It must have been 15 minutes before somebody acknowledged us...and that was after one of us went inside to ask if anybody was going to help us. Finally somebody came with some menus (the same woman serving the other table, who had walked past us several times). After perusing the menu, I decided on some sort of avocado chicken wrap and chose the sweet potato fries as my side. The food didn't take too long, and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. My wrap was very good, as were the sweet potato fries. The 2 stars is for the restaurant only...I may give it another shot, but it won't be first on the list.
I love this place. My friend has a membership so we frequent the pool and restaurant. It has an amazing view of Cleveland and all the members are very friendly. The food is really good. They have a quite a variety of options from a club sandwich to seared tuna with seaweed salad. The pool is great. It is always kept clean and having a bar out there is great too. It's also a great location for families and kids.
