Dilbar is the largest yacht in the world in terms of volume. At Port Vauban, you can recognize her by her size of course, but also by her characteristic off-white color. She was built in Germany and delivered to Alisher Uzmanov, an Uzbek-born Russian investor, in 2016. The features of her 3,800 m2 interior space remain a secret but you can see two helipads and a 25m-long pool outside. She has a capacity for 40 passengers with more than 80 crew members.

Le Dilbar est le plus grand yacht du monde en tonnage. Au Port Vauban, il est reconnaissable par sa taille bien sûr, mais également par sa couleur caractéristique blanc cassé. Il a été construit en Allemagne et a été livré en 2016 à Alisher Uzmanov, un investisseur russe d'origine ouzbèque. Les aménagements intérieurs de ses 3,800 m2 restent secrets mais à l'extérieur, on peut voir deux héliports et une piscine de 25 m de long. Le yacht peut accueillir 40 passagers et plus de 80 membres d'équipage.

Delivered in 2016, Dilbar is the largest motor yacht in the world by gross tonnage. She is one of the most complbuilt as and challenging yachts ever built, in terms of both dimensions and technology. At 15,917 tons, the 156-meter superyacht features entertainment and recreation spaces never before seen on a yacht. The exterior design, a classic profile with a light ivory hull and bronze accents, was developed by Espen Øino International. Superyacht DILBAR Impresses Crowds In Antibes

Causing quite the wave of excitement as she arrived in France earlier this week, the 156m/512ft motor yacht DILBAR is currently berthed in Antibes harbor next to the similarly impressive 99m/325ft superyacht ‘Madame Gu’ .

The largest delivery from Lurssen to date, DILBAR has remained something of a talking point amongst those keen to identify the world’s largest yacht.

Of course, it’s not the longest yacht- an enviable title held by the 180m/591ft superyacht AZZAM , but is expected to be the largest in gross tonnage.

In an interview last year, Peter Lurssen alluded to this fact, explicitly stating that she will be ‘in tonnage, the biggest in the world, with amazing features’.

Though attracting a considerable amount of onlookers, her interior, designed by the world acclaimed Andrew Winch , remains something of a mystery.

Providing a superb chance to get a look at the exterior lines created by the estimable Espen Oeino , her current position is also sure to get everyone taking notes.

Launched by German shipyard Lürssen in 2016, Dilbar is a record-breaking superyacht. Her builder has even claimed that she “is one of the most complex and challenging yachts ever built, in terms of both dimensions and technology.” This standout superyacht was delivered to her owner Uzbekistani billionaire Alisher Usmanov as a replacement for Usmanov’s previous yacht of the same name, which has since been renamed Al Raya . Information about the super-secretive yacht is scarce but the figures that have been revealed are impressive. Read on to discover the 10 most incredible facts about Dilbar …

1. Dilbar is the fourth longest yacht in the world

At 156 metres, the Espen-Øino designed Dilbar is one of the longest superyachts in the world. She was a step up from Usmanov’s previous Dilbar yacht, now renamed Al Raya , which measured only 110 metres.

2. She can accommodate almost 100 crew members

Dilbar is normally run by a crew of 80 that help maintain the superyacht and wait on her guests. When necessary, this crew capacity can be increased to a maximum of 96 crew members, meaning Dilbar can carry as many as 120 people at full capacity.

3. The largest yacht in the world by gross tonnage

While the title of largest yacht in the world by length goes to the 180.61 metre Azzam , the 156 metre Dilbar has the greatest interior volume of any yacht ever delivered, boasting an impressive gross tonnage of 15,917. This translates into 3,800 square metres of living space for 24 guests styled by Winch Design with rare and exclusive luxury materials and extended by fold-out balconies.

4. Dilbar has the largest swimming pool ever installed on a superyacht

Measuring 25 metres long, the swimming pool on board Dilbar can hold an impressive amount of water – 180 cubic metres of water in fact. The swimming pool on Dilbar is reportedly the largest pool to ever be installed on board a superyacht.

5. There is a garden on board

For guests missing the shore, Dilbar is equipped with an expansive garden complete with a specially developed variety of grass that tolerates salt air. The designer of the garden, German architect and founder of Yacht-Green Axel Massmann, disclosed that plants from “Mediterranean areas” were chosen because “ Dilbar tends to be between the South of France, northern Spain and sometimes Cyprus.” By choosing plants grown within EU waters, Dilbar was also spared the headache of customs regulations that forbid the import of foreign plants.

6. The yacht is powered by a 30,000KW electric diesel power plant

Opting for an electric-diesel hybrid power source helps reduce Dilbar’s emissions while still providing a top speed of 22.5 knots. Her builder Lürssen claims that the 30,000 KW power plant on which Dilbar runs is the most powerful to ever be fitted on a superyacht.

7. Over 1,100km of cables were installed on board

Dilbar was a technical feat. A total of 1,100 kilometres of cabling (almost the same length as the total land borders of the country of Bhutan) was stretched throughout the interior to power all of the amenities and facilities on board.

8. There are two helipads

Helipads are a key asset to helping owners and guests make smooth and swift journeys from ship to shore. Dilbar however is equipped with not one but two helipads where the H175 helicopter can land to drop off or pick up. The first is located forward at the bow of the yacht, while the second is situated aft on the top deck flybridge.

9. Dilbar was built in just 52 months

From the time of signing the contract to delivering the superyacht to her owner, Lürssen and the designers working on the project managed to construct and complete Dilbar in just over four years.

10. The interiors feature over 1,000 sofa cushions

The amount of living space on board meant that Winch Design had to decorate the interiors with plentiful soft furnishings. Dilbar has been outfitted with over 1,000 custom-made sofa cushions on board, with each and every one uniquely designed to fit the interior scheme.

Previously known as Project OPAL, the massive and outstanding 110m (361’) mega yacht DILBAR was spotted by Gustav from ‘GTBOARD.com’ in the fantastic French Riviera yacht vacation location – Antibes on Friday, April 17, 2015. Currently ranking as the 26th largest superyacht in the world, luxury motor yacht DILBAR was launched by the leading German shipyard Lurssen to a design by acclaimed Tim Heywood in 2008.

Beautifully designed by Alberto Pinto , the breath-taking interiors of superyacht DILBAR provide deluxe accommodation to up to 20 guests. There is also accommodation for a numerous crew of 47 members.

Built to the rules of Germanischer Lloyd, super yacht DILBAR (Project OPAL) represents the world’s first vessel with particle filters on the main engine exhausts. Powered by twin MTU diesel-electric main engines, she can achieve a top speed of 21 knots.

Olbia Vedere uno specchio d’acqua pieno di yacht significa sognare ad occhi aperti. Sognare le cifre, sì, ma molto più concretamente gli interni di quelle ville galleggianti. Il “Dilbar” dell’oligarca Alisher Usmanov è da record. Con i suoi 153 metri di lunghezza, in questi anni è stato spesso il superyacht per eccellenza in Costa Smeralda. Un valore di oltre 600 milioni di euro che lo ha candidato a imbarcazione più costosa. Ma il rapporto stretto con Vladimir Putin è costato caro a Usmanov. Nel 2022 nell'ambito delle sanzioni conseguenti all'attacco russo dell'Ucraina, ha subito anche lui il congelamento dei beni. E il “Dilbar” è stato sequestrato dalle autorità tedesche nel porto di Amburgo dove si trovava per alcuni lavori di manutenzione. Alternativo e megalomane in tutto, Jeff Bezos si è fatto costruire un superyacht a vela unico nel suo genere. Si chiama “Koru”, una parola maori che vuol dire anello, si usa per riferirsi ai nuovi inizi. Un gigante dei mari con tre alberi che arrivano a 70 metri di altezza, l’imbarcazione ha una lunghezza di 127 metri ed è riconoscibilissima. Tra i dettagli, la polena del veliero ha viso e busto a immagine di Laura Sanchez, la compagna di Bezos. Il “Koru” vale almeno 500 milioni di euro ma non si muove mai da solo.

Ad accompagnare il veliero c’è sempre una nave di supporto, “Abeona” , superyacht con tanto di pista di atterraggio per elicotteri. Tra i più noti nelle acque sarde, “ Al Mirqab”, 133 metri, di proprietà dello sceicco Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, emiro del Qatar, capo di diverse multinazionali e proprietario del Paris Saint-Germain. Valore di “ soli” 250 milioni di euro, ma le stime sono in continuo aggiornamento. Qualche dettaglio che può farne capire la maestosità: a bordo ha un equipaggio di 60 persone, può ospitare 24 passeggeri, al suo interno ci sono 10 suite e 2 suite esclusive. Ognuna con bagno, soggiorno e camera matrimoniale. A bordo, un cinema, bar, piscina, jacuzzi, pista per elicotteri.

Dilbar: 7 Facts

You’ve probably all heard of the yacht “Dilbar”. She is, after all, the world’s biggest yacht! Dilbar was built by Lurssen in Bremen, Germany. A feat of engineering, she is absolutely unbelievable. Just check out these stats.

1. Dilbar has a displacement tonnage of 1230: equal to around 186 Elephants .

Your average African Bush Elephant weighs just over 6000kg. There are (more or less) 907 kg in one US ton.

So, if we know that an elephant weighs 6.62 tons, we can also conclude that Dilbar is truly as heavy as a whole load of Elephants.

2. She has a colossal amount of cabling onboard…

…1,100 km worth to be exact; which is longer than the drive from the very North to the southern-most point of France (a mere 962km). For a yacht 156m long and 23m wide, that’s seriously impressive. Ooh-la-la! ??

3. Owner & Guest living space onboard is spread over 3,800 square metres, or 104 London apartments .

According to the Guardian newspaper, the average London flat covers 46 square metres- meaning Dilbar is much, much larger than your flat (and your friend’s flats, and their parents flats, and their neighbors flats, all rolled into one).????

4. Lurssen says that the 156m Dilbar only took 52 months to build.

To put this into perspective, it took around 100,000 slaves over 20 years to build the Great Pyramid : a stone structure of average height with no diesel engines or advanced audio-visual system.

5. Reportedly, you could actually fit the owner’s previous boat ONA inside Dilbar with space to spare.

This one doesn’t need much more explaining. The owner is Russian though, so it could be that he’s playing some sort of yacht-version of matryoshka dolls… ??

6. There’s a 25m swimming pool onboard, which is the largest superyacht pool in existence.

Dilbar has a beam (width) of 23m and a draft (depth below the water) of 6m, so this pool is relatively massive! Our sources tell us that the pool is around 6m across and around 2m deep, falling to 1m at the shallow end. Therefore we can perform a variable depth calculation to find the volume- which results in an estimated requirement of 225,000 liters of water to fill the Dilbar swimming pool.

Now, a typical Shell or BP Oil Truck can hold 11,000L (see where I’m going here…?). You would need 21 Oil Trucks filled with water just to fill the Dilbar swimming pool.

What’s even more incredible is that, due to the pesky free-surface effect, this pool probably has to be drained every time the boat is moved in order to maintain stability. The watermakers onboard would have to work at an incredible speed and efficiency to get this filled in time for the owner to take a dip once the anchor is dropped!

7. You definitely wouldn’t know all of your colleagues for quite some time if you were new onboard Dilbar…

The average human (never mind a hardworking yacht crew member) consumes 2kg of food a day. This means that the Dilbar chefs cook a whopping 73,000 kg worth of crew meals a year to keep their hungry colleagues’ ship shape and ready for work.

Mind-blowing.
