Spielberg’s 357-footer is an Oceanco superyacht built in the Netherlands with umpteen amenities and luxe features, all of which cost a bomb to maintain.Even when not moving, a yacht that spans 357 feet can easily burn 700- 800 liters of diesel per hour. According to the WSJ, a 250-foot-long ship consumes 500 liters per hour, costing $550 in the first ten minutes alone.

The film director, who said he is ‘terrified’ of global warming, has been termed eco-hypocrite several times. Last year, the award-winning movie maker clocked 16 trips spanning 17,000 miles on his Gulfstream G650 in one summer. In layperson’s terms, that’s no less than t $116,159 worth of fuel. ‘I’m terrified of (global warming),’ Spielberg said in a 2018 interview for his film ‘Ready Player One.’ ‘Global warming is a scientific reality. It’s not a political trick. It’s a true piece of real, measurable, quantifiable science.’

The mammoth vessel, built in 2022, accommodates 14 guests in 7 suites and gets her power from twin MTU 20V 4000 M73L diesel engines that allow the ship a top speed of 20 knots.

Omani billionaire businessman Mohammed al Barwani bought the luxury shipyard back in 2010 (he also owns Turquoise Yachts in Istanbul).

Hargrave motor yacht Seas the Day sold

The 30.8-metre Hargrave motor yacht Seas the Day has been sold with Joe Foggia of Northrop & Johnson representing the seller, and Arney Mendez of FGI Yacht Group introducing the buyer.

The raised pilothouse model was built in GRP in Taiwan by Hargrave Custom Yachts and delivered in 2016. She was refitted in 2021 and received a number of modifications and maintenance works in 2022 before joining the brokerage market.

Seas the Day is finished in high gloss walnut and zebra wood with a custom Greek key ceiling inlay and white Calcutta marble surfaces. Accommodation is for eight guests in four suites, including a master cabin and VIP suite, with provision for a crew of five. White deckheads, cream-upholstered sofas and armchairs, together with light carpets, serve to contrast the deep wooden tones throughout for a warm and homely interior. 

A formal dining table is located forward in an open-plan saloon and comfortably seats the full party of eight, though the social centre on board is the flybridge, which can host as many as 24 guests. 

The flybridge houses a cooking area, a teak bar with bar stools and a Jacuzzi. A large hardtop provides shade and dining tables that convert to cocktail tables can make the deck work for intimate gatherings or larger parties.

The aft deck, with its wet bar, fridge and icemaker, also has a large ten-seater dining table. It is finished in gloss teak with driftwood inlays with refreshments run from a country-style island galley.

Seas the Day is powered by twin 1,800 hp Caterpillar C32A engines, providing a maximum speed of 23 knots and cruising speed of 20 knots. The former yacht for sale also benefits from zero speed stabilizers for maximum comfort at rest. She was designed by naval architects J.B.Hargrave Yacht Design with an interior by American designer Shelley . 

Seas the Day was asking $5,475,000.

The 26.49m/86'11" open yacht 'Seas The Day' was built by Azimut in Italy. Her interior is styled by Italian designer design house Carlo Galeazzi and she was completed in 2008. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Stefano Righini.

Seas The Day has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests in 4 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 4 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Seas The Day is built with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel MTU (V16 2000 M91) 16-cylinder 2,000hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 37 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 42 knots with a range of up to 290 nautical miles from her 7,200 litre fuel tanks. Her low draft of 1.02m/3'4" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Her water tanks store around 1,100 Litres of fresh water.
