Shipyard review: Absolute, Italy’s inland innovators

  • April 22, 2021

Located over 100km inland of coastal cities like Genoa and yacht-building hubs like La Spezia and Viareggio, the Absolute facility is a self-contained hub of in-house innovation, automation, craftsmanship and friendly, family-style management. By Clare Mahon.

Absolute is situated outside Piacenza, situated 60km southeast of Milan in northern Italy

I’m driving around looking for the Absolute shipyard, my instincts and my navigation app at war. There’s not a body of water in sight. A green sea of freshly ploughed fields is all around me and the aroma is of farmland, not low tide.

Feeling I must be way off track, I pull over to see what’s wrong. Suddenly, a truck loaded with Volvo Penta IPS engines passes me. Follow that truck, I tell myself, and soon I’m there.

The entrance to the five-hectare production facility

Sergio Maggi and Marcello Bè founded Absolute in 2002 in an area outside of Piacenza where the other major industry is … tomato canning. After all, Piacenza is in northern Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region, renowned for its local produce including ham, salami, cheese and pasta, as well as wine.

This, plus the fact the Med is about 100km south, make it an unusual location for shipbuilding, but Maggi and Bè are locals and wanted to stay close to their roots and the hardworking local talent.

The two had met while employed at Cantieri Nautici Gobbi, but when the company was sold, they decided to branch off and establish a yard of their own. Four years later, looking for ways to increase automation in their production lines, they asked former boss Angelo Gobbi to join them at Absolute.

“We started with nothing much more than a good first boat,” Maggi says. “Going forward, we had an idea of what we wanted, but we didn’t know how to get there. Angelo is our visionary. He had the knowhow and guided us to where we are today.”

Absolute is all about teamwork and efficiency, not ego. Gobbi happily joined his former employees as a partner and put his skills to work creating a state-of-the-art facility spread over almost 50,000sqm – imagine seven football pitches – where boats are built using an optimised production chain called Integrated Structural System or ISS.

Hulls are hand-finished while their corresponding interior structures are precision cut by robotic arms using CNC technology. Dedicated teams then assemble the interiors in modules and lower them into the hulls.

After the interiors have been mounted and sealed, the hulls are taken out of their moulds and the running systems are installed. The organisation and automation are astounding, and the shipyard works around the clock.

After the human workforce goes home, robots and computers take over, fetching supplies from a large and recently expanded automatic warehouse then setting them up for the next day’s work.

While Absolute is open to every kind of software upgrade and technological improvement, Maggi says that building a yacht will never be a fully automated or entirely industrial process.

Automated machinery in the warehouse

“We can try to organise delivery and production to the highest degree, but there will always be a lot of handwork involved in laying a hull and mounting running systems. We design everything in 3D and nothing is left to chance, but we will still always need humans to do quality control,” Maggi says.

It’s this blend of humanity and technology that makes Absolute Yachts special. Everything at Absolute is done in-house by a tightly knit team headed by management and ownership that are one and the same. “And we’re here all day, every day,” says Cesare Mastroianni, CCO and Vice President of Sales.

The shipyard staff is like an extended family, but unlike most families, they work well as a team and seem to like each other. This all-in-it-together approach allows Absolute to move quickly and stay flexible.

“We have invested in our people,” says Mastroianni. “We don’t need to have a lot of meetings. Sometimes we just discuss ideas by the coffee machine.”

IN-HOUSE CREATIVITY

Maggi, who on top of being a co-founder also heads the design department, echoes Mastroianni’s words.

“We believe in staying independent and doing everything in-house. Yes, maybe you miss having people bring you new ideas from outside, but if you do that, you’re always trying to chase a new concept, looking for solutions to new problems,” Maggi says.

Absolute uses 3D printing and modelling in their yacht designs

“Absolute’s approach is more like adaptive evolution because the team that has created all the best features of previous yachts know which ones to apply to new models. We’re building on our experience and the suggestions we get from our owners and dealers.”

Absolute works with a ratio of about one stylist to three engineers. “The stylist does their part, then shows their work to the engineers and they take over the project,” Maggi says.

“This means we have a perfect synergy between our production and our style departments. They go hand in hand, and this helps us to guarantee quality. We don’t go for impact or extras – everything is functional.

The bodywork department

“Maybe an owner who’s looking for a status symbol won’t like what we do, but an owner who wants to live aboard and enjoy their yacht in safety and comfort will find what they’re looking for in an Absolute.”

Keep in mind that these are Italians, so style, even if it’s functional style, is always part of the package, as are bon vivant touches like wine cellars and stemmed glasses designed to adhere magnetically to tabletops. And in a yachting market that’s constantly changing, Absolute likes to stay a step or two ahead.

“We try to come up with two new boat designs per year because the market is changing all the time,” Maggi says. “It usually takes us about a year to develop a model, but in my head right now I’m thinking of four or five new projects – two we’ve just begun, two in the final stages of planning and one that’s still to come. The cycle is continuous and keeps us busy.”

One thing that seems like it will never change is Absolute’s love for a certain propulsion system, Maggi confirms. “Volvo IPS forever! When we were designing our first model, we heard that IPS was coming and we contacted Volvo right away. I think we were the first to use them.”

From a builder’s point of view, Maggi loves how IPS works with industrial production methods and can be mounted in a smaller aft space. And he also likes the client comfort that comes with reduced noise and vibration, as well as the improved fuel consumption.

FROM LAND TO SEA

While Absolute’s ultra-sophisticated build technology seems to know no limits, the dimensions of Italy’s autostrada expressways pose some strict ones for a yard located quite some distance from the sea. Yachts over 52ft are divided into hull and superstructure before being trucked down to the open water, otherwise they wouldn’t fit through tunnels or under overpasses.

where are absolute yachts built

The superstructure of a 60 Fly is prepared to be lowered onto the hull

“We have a lot of experience in designing for the maximum possible size for overland transportation and we’re very quick at dissembling and re-assembling our yachts,” Mastroianni says.

“I can’t reveal any secrets, but over the years we’ve perfected a kind of plug-and-play system for re-joining the electrical and hydraulic systems between hull and superstructure. We can have a yacht up to 58ft ready to go in just 36 hours, whereas larger yachts are ready with all commissioning systems tested in 10 days.”

Just as Absolute’s production system is all in-house, its sales network is entirely run by their own dealers, which in Asia include Hong Kong-based Absolute Marine, whose orders for the city include the new Navetta 64, set to arrive in late 2021.

“We invest in the yard, its technology and in new models but we also invest in our dealers, backing them up and keeping them informed,” Mastroianni says. “We began working in the Far East in 2012 in China and then in Hong Kong. Later, we began working in Japan and Taiwan and lately in Singapore. We have recently appointed a dealer in Thailand.

“Thomas Woo [of Absolute Marine] in Hong Kong is one of our top dealers, both for the volume of boats that he sells and for the fact that he sells consistently well across our entire range. It’s a niche market, but he knows his business.”

Boarding an Absolute yacht, you may find yourself curious about the unusual, volume-maximising lines, but rest assured that you’ll step back to shore impressed by the build quality and the planning and intelligence that have gone into getting the most liveability out of every millimetre.

SUNNY FUTURE

Absolute is constantly updating its range to keep on top of market trends and is still receiving acclaim for the Navetta 64 that debuted late last year, due in large to the innovative option of a convertible aft cabin beside the swim platform.

This year’s new models will be the 48’ Coupé and the 60 Fly, the former introducing a new series featuring solar power, while the latter offers the option of solar panels on the hardtop.

Absolute 60 Fly features forward master The upcoming Absolute 60 Fly features a full-beam master cabin forward on the lower deck, following the designs on the Italian builder’s larger models.

Maggi says: “The 60 Fly will be a new reference point for flybridge yachts, a boat that will establish the parameters for this typology of yacht in the years to come.”

Not surprisingly for a shipyard that loves engineering as much as design, Absolute set up a mini solar energy plant to find the best type of solar panels to mount on its yachts, with the system to be rolled out on the 48 Coupè.

where are absolute yachts built

The master cabin on the 60 Fly is forward

Translucent solar panels in the roofing will produce energy for running the boat’s hotel systems while also letting light, but not heat, filter into the saloon. You can drop anchor, turn off your engine and generators, and enjoy the clean air and silence. Interestingly, Maggi says the Coupè design is more reflective of Absolute’s earliest ranges (Sport Cruiser, Sport Yacht, Sport Line) than the subsequent Fly and Navetta lines.

“The 48’ Coupè is the modern heir to our first boats, but things have changed in the meantime. Clients used to want something fast and glamorous, and didn’t really care about living on the water. Now, on top of moving fast, our clients want a comfortable boat where they can entertain and stay aboard for extended periods of time. Now, you need function and ease of use,” Maggi says.

Absolute 60 Fly features forward master Italian builder plans to debut 48 Coupé at Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2021

“The Coupé still has a sporty soul and delivers on the water, but it’s also comfortable and sustainable. We designed extra-large windows that open and close like car windows, so there’s as much fresh air moving through the boat as possible. The aft section has openings in the gunwales and glass under the aft railing so you can see the water at all times.”

Ironically, the Absolute shipyard doesn’t have such views of the sea, but it does have a management team with a crystal-clear vision of what they want for their clients and how to deliver it. www.absoluteyachts.com

The numbers of success: Absolute Yachts talks about itself and unveils the 2020 novelties

Absolute Yachts talks about itself: the numbers, the new boats and the best dealers

The Italian shipyard joined the last Cannes Yachting Festival with 11 boats: docked next to each other, they formed a long white line that successfully dominated the scene in the crowded Port Vieux.

But if having signaled the large turnout in the booth of the Italian shipyard had not been enough, Absolute Yachts has wanted to dispel any doubt: the shipyard has taken off its mask and showed all its number s. The growth is constant and continuous.

The growth numbers

Absolute Dealer Meeting

In 2013, the turnover of the Italian shipyard increased by 23% compared to the previous year while 2015 ended with a 57.4% increase in the turnover compared to 2014. In 2016, the growth reached 38.5 % while 2018 registered a 25.4% increase compared to 2017. This year, Absolute Yachts has already grown with a 19% increase in revenue while waiting for the final budget.

Another interesting element that clearly indicates the growth of the company is, undoubtedly, the virtuous circle of sales. Progressively with the turnover increase, Absolute Yachts has registered an increase in the sales of big boats , as a proof of the quality of its yachts: this has enabled the company to grow even more and set even more ambitious goals.

Absolute in the world

Absolute Yachts awards and growth

The important international success of Absolute Yachts is also to be attributed to its dealers, which have proved to be effective and skilled both during the sale and the post-sales services.

This is why Absolute Yachts, at the end of the conference, gave the Absolute Yachts Top Dealer 2019 Award to the two figures that stood out the most during the year: Michael Costa (SeaNet) for the Best Brand Ambassador category, and Gimmy Valente (Adriatic Wave) for the Best After-Sales Services category.

Absolute Yachts Awards

Absolute Yachts has built its success thanks to a strong team, made up of talents with a clear and shared philosophy linked the pursuit of the absolute and of perfection.

Absolute 47 Fly

The Absolute company counted several equally prestigious mentions: “Export2Succeed” , as export leader, in the initiative launched by UPS in collaboration with L’Imprenditore , among the “500 Champion” of growth in Italy in the research carried out by the financial analysts of L’Economia del Corriere della Sera and among the 350 companies “Leader of Growth” in the study conducted by the Sole 24 Ore . A palmares of great satisfaction forn a company that was born and grown in Italy.

The novelties unveiled

During the conference at the Cannes Yachting Festival, Absolute Yachts also announced some of its new models. Waiting for further details, the company therefore unveiled the upcoming protagonists of the sea: a restyling of the Navetta 52 fitted with D6 IPS 650 propulsion and the new Navetta 64 .

You’ll have to be a little patient: both boats will be unveiled in 2020.

Absolute Reviews

absolute-yachts-logo

Founded by Marcello Bè and Sergio Maggi, the yard’s range of 40-73ft Navetta, Flybridge and sport yachts is internationally renowned and it has a prominent presence at all of the world’s leading boat shows.

It’s name and motto (Reaching for the Absolute) reflects its desire to achieve the finest standards in both build quality and seakeeping. What’s more, Absolute is continually striving for environmental improvements, by fitting the most efficient and low-impact Volvo Penta propulsion systems.

Absolute’s inland location means that all the fibreglass hulls and decks have to be transported by road prior separately to joining and launch – a logistical hurdle that means every yacht is built to exacting standards to ensure it will stand up to the journey. Once launched, Absolute Yachts are easily maintained, with the yard ensuring that all key components are easily accessible and can be removed without the need for invasive processes.

Absolute Yachts, when the made in Italy model is a success

where are absolute yachts built

In its just 18 years of existence, the Absolute Yachts shipyard has grown to be one of the most interesting players on the global nautical scene

by Francesco Michienzi

Absolute Yachts is one of the few shipyards in the world that can boast a financial statement, which displays a nice and round zero under the item “debts”. This is where you need to start if you want to understand the continuous ascent of this all-Italian company, which has made financial rigour into its strength.

The double A bank rating, the 63 million Euro turnover, an Ebitda of 19.5 per cent, and 19 million in liquidity, allow it to face international markets with the necessary serenity . The economic and financial aspect, however, is only the premise of an entrepreneurial philosophy based on concreteness and on the idea of a cohesive society. The people who work in the shipyard are part of a large family where each member is called upon to make his or her contribution and to be fully aware of the importance of the role they play. Workers, craftsmen, employees, designers, and managers all move in harmony to obtain the very best.

Absolute Yachts

Marcello Bè and Sergio Maggi founded Absolute in 2002, strong with their long experience in the industry and with their futuristic vision of how to do business in the nautical industry. The great turn of events came with a series of new entries into the company: Patrizia Gobbi , Paola Carini , Giuseppe Bertocci and Angelo Gobbi , who took on the presidency in 2007.

The partners all work in the company and each one deals with a specific aspect of the business, without saving either physical nor intellectual energy. The results are immediacy and sharing on every level, a clear awareness of the goals and methods established to obtain them, and the satisfaction of working in a cohesive team. In an environment like this, it is only natural to find material and immaterial elements of both individual and collective gratification .

Absolute Yachts

Over the past ten years, the company has acquired international fame, wit h about 90 vessels produced per year, divided into four lines ranging from 40 to 73 feet , Flybridge, Sport Line, Sport Yacht, and Navetta . Thanks to 40 dealers, the brand is now distributed in 20 countries all over the world. We had the pleasure of visiting the plants exactly ten years after the construction of the new shipyards. Already then, it looked like the offspring of an innovative vision, thanks to certain choices that clearly showed an industrial development aimed at quality – both on the site and in terms of the people working on it.

The general feeling we had was a mix of amazement and admiration. Boats are products that require a great amount of manual work, which needs to be carried out by expert hands, and the industrial process must take this into consideration. In fact, to reach ideal results, both from the point of view of quality and from the point of view of financial competitiveness, everything needs to be strongly based on a valid project.

In Podenzano we had the pleasant feeling of standing in an authentic industry, where everything was thought through down to the smallest detail to obtain the very best result from every action. Over the past ten years, the automated vertical warehouse and ventilation systems in the lamination department have been doubled.

Absolute Yachts

The facilities have moreover been equipped with an automatic resin feeding system and a new CNC work centre for the carpentry department and for the storage and automatic movement of plywood. The construction of a new pool to test all the on-board equipment is planned for 2019. Absolute Yachts independently manages every single stage of their boats’ life cycle : concept, design, engineering, modelling, creation of moulds and setup of the production, lamination, and structural assembly, installation and assembly of equipment and furniture, tests, delivery logistics, and final setup of the boat. The covered surface of the plant dedicated to production is 30 thousand square metres within an overall area of 58 thousand.

Angelo Gobbi is particularly proud of the flattering results obtained in recent years:

«We want people to understand who we are and where we are going, the nautical world has changed. When sacrifices were required, our company actually implemented what no other entrepreneur in the nautical business even envisioned: we invested even more financial resources in order to oil and fix the machine anew» .

Even during the toughest moments of the global financial crisis, when the consumption of luxury goods experienced significant reductions, the company stood strong: «We adapted, we changed our models and diversified in new countries where we could distribute our boats. In 2013, there was a significant recovery in our turnover, we conquered new markets and allowed the turnover to keep growing constantly. Today, 240 people work in our plant and offices producing about 90 vessels per year».

Absolute Yachts 52 Fly Reviewed

  • By Phil Draper
  • July 31, 2024

Absolute 52 Fly

The Absolute Yachts 52 Fly shares design cues with its recently launched sisterships, the 56 Fly and 60 Fly . These yachts are easily recognized by their snub bows, chopped transoms, sculpted hulls and topsides, and big hullside windows, which give away the location of their owner’s staterooms.

As with the flybridge, the 52 Fly’s cockpit terrace is left bare so owners can choose from a range of exclusive modular furniture by Absolute or from other sources. The vessel’s glass balustrade, which tops off the transom, and the fretted bulwarks aft make for even stronger visual connections to the sea and provide great views for seated guests.

Absolute 52 Fly

The 52 Fly’s foredeck is also a welcome retreat, especially with the sunshade and side screens up. The space accommodates an island sun pad, as well as a low dinette with double sofas. The flybridge is similarly splendid, and the hardtop comes standard with solar panels that contribute 1.35 kW of peak power, enough to cover the yacht’s basic hotel loads (not air conditioning) without the generator or shore power.

With nearly 360-degree views, the salon consists of an aft galley to port with Corian worktops, and a view between them and the cabinets above. An amidships lounge has a dinette to port and a three-seat sofa to starboard. The vibe is cool and contemporary, with drop-down electric windows on each side. They help keep the temperature moderate when the air conditioning is off.

The two-seat lower helm is to starboard, with great ergonomics and unobstructed visibility. Garmin touchscreen displays provide all the essential information, and other controls are conveniently situated. A side-deck door allows a proper connection with the outside world. A second two-seat helm station up on the flybridge is to port. That means there’s always a fresh-air connection available for the skipper, no matter which side he needs to see when close-quarters maneuvering. An optional third docking station can be added in the cockpit, with joystick and thruster controls for stern-to docking.

Absolute 52 Fly

Like the rest of Absolute’s portfolio, the oomph for the 52 Fly comes from a pair of Volvo Penta diesels and IPS pod drives. The 52 Fly’s 600 hp D8-IPS800s deliver a nominal top speed of 30 knots and a 25-knot fast cruise. I saw a top-end average speed of 30.5 knots on reciprocal runs with the trim assist on, the Seakeeper gyrostabilizer off, and the boat lightly loaded. Only four people were aboard, with no tender or stores, 26 percent fuel, and 44 percent fresh water in gentle swells.

Underway, handling is surprisingly responsive. Spin the wheel hard over when running flat out, and the yacht heels gently into a relatively tight turn without scrubbing off much more than 3 knots of speed. The turning circle is not much more than three boatlengths.

At my favored cruise-forever dawdle of 10 knots, the diesels burned just 14 gph. Given the tank capacity of 475 gallons, that means a range of 340 nautical miles. The yacht is least efficient at 13 to 15 knots, with fuel burn around 73 gph. Once over the hump, the cumulative burn tracks down gently from 2.5 gallons per nautical mile at 14 knots to 2.25 gallons per nautical mile at 30 knots, so you may as well rush. At a continuous fast cruise of 25 knots, range should be around 225 nm.

Absolute 52 Fly

Noise is not an issue. I recorded just 64 decibels at the helm at 20 knots (65 decibels is the level of normal conversation). In the owner’s stateroom at the same speed, the tank buffer for the engine room meant just 72 decibels. It was 75 decibels in the double-berth stateroom aft.

Both heads that serve the three staterooms have windows and opening portholes. The owner’s en suite stateroom occupies the full beam forward, with big bow windows and plenty of space around a forward-facing queen berth. There’s also full-standing headroom here. Amidships is the VIP, also with a forward-facing queen and its hullside windows. The guest stateroom has twin berths that convert to a double. It’s good to see there’s enough space in the lobby beneath the companionway stairs for a washer-dryer.

There’s also lazarette space aft that includes a head-shower compartment, but it can alternatively be specified as a single-berth overspill stateroom or a crew cabin. (A teenager would love it.) As on some of the other newer Absolutes, it’s accessed discreetly from the hydraulic swim platform via a pantograph-style door in the transom and a half-hatch.

Absolute 52 Fly

There’s a lot to like about the Absolute 52 Fly: solid performance, a high level of personalization, and a pugnacious build to cruise across blue water. Add its luxurious flourishes, and you get a family-friendly owner-operator yacht that should have broad appeal.

How It’s Made

Relatively complicated hull and superstructure shapes dictate a wet lay-up build rather than resin infusion. Interiors, including the bulkheads, are assembled outside the hull. They are built up from CNC-cut flat panels before being moved by crane and then bonded to the hull walls and stringer system. Then the superstructure is placed.

Where It’s Made

Absolute Yachts is based in Podenzano, Italy, between Genoa and Milan. Employing around 300 people on a 500,000-square-foot site, the company builds around 90 boats a year. The average length is about 60 feet.

Absolute Yachts’ 14-model lineup ranges from 47 to 75 feet, with seven Navetta models, six Fly models and one Coupé yacht. Production is split about evenly between the Navettas and the planing models. The next new models are expected to be the Navetta 53 and Navetta 70, with debuts planned at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

Inside the shocking Sicily yacht tragedy that left 7 people dead

There was a violent storm, but even then, luxury yachts are built to weather such events. so why did this boat sink off the coast of sicily, leaving seven people dead, by natalie finn | e news • published august 24, 2024 • updated on august 24, 2024 at 10:34 am.

But what was supposed to be a routine pleasure cruise aboard a superyacht turned deadly all the same on the morning of Aug. 19 when the 184-foot Bayesian got caught in a storm and sank off the coast of Sicily .

"I can't remember the last time I read about a vessel going down quickly like that," Stephen Richter of SAR Marine Consulting told NBC News . "You know, completely capsizing and going down that quickly, a vessel of that nature, a yacht of that size."

Of the 22 people onboard, including crew, seven people died. The last of the bodies was recovered Aug. 23, an expectedly sad coda to what had already been a tragic week as the search for answers as to how this happened got underway.

And to be sure, every minute of the Bayesian's ill-fated outing is being fiercely scrutinized, starting with the general seaworthiness of the vessel itself.

Because, frankly, this was a freak occurrence.

"Boats of this size, they’re taking passengers on an excursion or a holiday," Richter explained. "They are not going to put them in situations where it may be dangerous or it may be uncomfortable, so this storm that popped up was obviously an anomaly. These vessels that carry passengers, they’re typically very well-maintained, very well-appointed."

But in this case, a $40 million yacht sank, seven people are dead—including a billionaire tech mogul and his 18-year-old daughter—and morbid fascination doesn't need a second wind.

Here is how the story of the Sicily yacht tragedy has unfolded so far:

What happened to the yacht that sank off the coast of Sicily?

The Bayesian had set off from the Sicilian port of Milazzo on Aug. 14 at capacity with 12 guests and 10 crewmembers aboard.

The aluminum-hulled vessel was built in 2008 by Italian shipbuilder Perini Navi and registered in the U.K. Cruise sites listed it as available for charter at $215,000 per week, per the Associated Press.

On the morning of Aug. 19, the superyacht was anchored off the coast of Porticello, a small fishing village in the Sicilian province of Palermo (also the name of Sicily's capital city), when a violent storm hit.

The vessel "suddenly sank" at around 5 a.m. local time, seemingly due to "the terrible weather conditions," the City Council of Bagheria announced shortly afterward, per NBC News .

At the time, only one person was confirmed dead—the ship's chef—but six others were said to be missing. The 15 survivors—who managed to make it onto an inflatable life boat, according to emergency officials—were rescued that morning by the crew of another yacht that had been nearby when the storm hit.

"Fifteen people inside," Karsten Borner, the Dutch captain of the ship that was able to help (the Sir Robert Baden Powell), told reporters afterward, per Reuters. "Four people were injured, three heavily injured, and we brought them to our ship. Then we communicated with the coast guard, and after some time, the coast guard came and later picked up injured people."

When the storm hit, his boat ran into "a strong hurricane gust," Borner said, "and we had to start the engine to keep the ship in an angled position."

They "managed to keep the ship in position," he continued, but once the storm died down, they realized the other boat that had been behind them—the Bayesian—was gone.

The wreck ended up settling 165 feet below the surface, according to Italy's national fire department.

Fire officials said that divers, a motorboat and a helicopter were deployed to search for the missing.

Meanwhile, footage was captured of the ship capsizing on closed-circuit TV about a half-mile away from where it was anchored.

In the video obtained by NBC News, the illuminated 250-foot aluminum mast of the ship appears to list severely to one side before disappearing completely. Survivors recalled having just a few minutes to literally abandon ship.

Who were the seven people who died when the yacht Bayesian sank?

The tragedy initially became headline news because billionaire tech mogul Mike Lynch—"Britain's Bill Gates," some U.K. media called him—was among the missing. His body was ultimately recovered Aug. 22 .

"They told me that suddenly they found themselves catapulted into the water without even understanding how they had got there," Dr. Fabio Genco, head of the Palermo Emergency Medical Services, told NBC News Aug. 22. "And that the whole thing seems to have lasted from 3 to 5 minutes."

Genco said he got to Porticello about an hour after the Bayesian capsized.

Survivors "told me that it was all dark, that the yacht hoisted itself up and then went down," he said. "All the objects were falling on them. That’s why I immediately made sure, by asking them questions, if they had any internal injuries."

Why did the yacht sink?

Italian prosecutors are investigating to determine what transpired before the boat went down, according to NBC News.

Meanwhile, the CEO of shipbuilder Perini's parent company The Italian Sea Group defended the vessel itself as "unsinkable."

Perini boats "are the safest in the most absolute sense," Giovanni Costantino told Sky News Aug. 22 . What happened to the Bayesian "put me in a state of sadness on one side and of disbelief on the other," he continued. "This incident sounds like an unbelievable story, both technically and as a fact."

Costantino said it had to have been human error that led to the boat sinking, declaring, "Mistakes were made."

"Everything that was done reveals a very long summation of errors," he told newspaper Corriere della Sera Aug. 21, in an interview translated from Italian. "The people should not have been in the cabins, the boat should not have been at anchor."

The weather was "all predictable," he continued, adding that the storm "was fully legible in all the weather charts. It couldn't have been ignored."

The yacht's captain, identified as James Cutfield of New Zealand, was taken to Termini Imerese hospital for treatment. From there, he told La Repubblica, per Sky News , that he didn't see the storm coming.

Borner, the captain of the ship that rescued the 15 Bayesian survivors, told NBC News that he noticed the storm come in at 4 a.m. local time, and saw what looked to him like a waterspout, a type of tornado that forms above water.

The International Centre for Waterspout Research posted on X Aug. 19 that it had "confirmed 18 waterspouts today off the coasts of Italy. Some were powerful waterspouts, one of which may have been responsible for the sinking of a large yacht off of Sicily."

Borner said he didn't know why the Bayesian sank so quickly, guessing "it may have something to do with the mast, which was incredibly long." (A tall mast, even with its sails down, means there's more surface area exposed to wind, which can result in tipping.)

Confirming that one person was dead and six unaccounted for immediately following the wreck on Aug. 19, Salvo Cocina of Sicily's civil protection agency told reporters that a waterspout had struck the area overnight.

"They were in the wrong place at the wrong time," he said.

The 59-year-old founder of software firm Autonomy had been on the trip with his wife Angela Bacares and their 18-year-old, Oxford-bound daughter Hannah to celebrate his recent acquittal in the U.S. on fraud and conspiracy charges stemming from the $11.7 billion purchase of his company by Hewlett-Packard in 2011.

In a bizarre turn of events, Lynch's co-defendant at trial, Stephen Chamberlain, the former vice president of finance at Autonomy, died after being taken off life support following a road accident on Aug. 17. Chamberlain's attorney told Reuters Aug. 20 that his friend and client had been out for a run when he was "fatally struck" by a car.

Meanwhile, multiple people who contributed to Lynch's defense were on the cruise with him and his family.

The bodies of Morgan Stanley International Chairman Jonathan Bloomer—who testified on Lynch's behalf—and his wife Judy Bloomer, as well as lawyer Chris Morvillo, a partner at the U.S. firm Clifford Chance, and his wife Neda Morvillo, a jewelry designer, were recovered on Aug. 21 .

In a LinkedIn post thanking the team that successfully defended Lynch, Morvillo wrote, per Sky News , "And, finally, a huge thank you to my patient and incredible wife, Neda Morvillo, and my two strong, brilliant, and beautiful daughters, Sabrina Morvillo and Sophia Morvillo. None of this would have been possible without your love and support. I am so glad to be home. And they all lived happily ever after…"

The first casualty confirmed Aug. 19 was the ship's Canadian-Antiguan chef, later identified as Recaldo Thomas.

"He was a one-of-a-kind special human being," a friend of Thomas told The Independent . "Incredibly talented, contagious smile and laugh, an incredible voice with a deep love of the ocean and the moon. I spoke to him nearly every day. He loved his life his friends and his job."

Hannah's body was the last of the missing six to be found , with divers bringing her remains ashore on Aug. 23.

Lynch and Bacares, who was rescued, also shared a 21-year-old daughter, according to The Times.

While awaiting trial, Lynch—who maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings—had spent 13 months under house arrest in San Francisco. Back home in London afterward, he admitted to The Times in July that he'd been afraid of dying in prison if he'd been found guilty. (He faced a possible 25-year sentence.)

"It's bizarre, but now you have a second life," he reflected. "The question is, what do you want to do with it?"

8 Fascinating Facts About ‘Koru,’ Jeff Bezos’s Bonkers 410-Foot Sailing Superyacht

Superyacht Koru Jeff Bezos

According to the latest Forbes ‘s Real-Time Billionaires List, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is currently worth around $204 billion, making him the second-wealthiest person on the planet, just behind Tesla CEO Elon Musk .

So handing over an estimated $500 million for his 410-foot Koru , the world’s largest sailing yacht , another $75 million for Abeona , its 250-foot support vessel, and then paying the $30 million or so a year to cover running costs for both, should be well within his budget.

Bezos surprised the boating world when he opted for a classically styled, three-masted sailing yacht instead of some flashy mega motoryacht. What’s more it has a buxom wooden sculpture on the forepeak, typical of 19th-century sailing vessels. And since taking delivery last year, he and his fiancé, Lauren Sánchez, have been using the yacht to cruise the world in style.

While secrecy still shrouds Koru , especially its interior and many of its technical features, we take a closer look at what makes it, arguably, the most interesting sailing superyacht in years.

Designed as a Modern Classic

where are absolute yachts built

Koru would never be described as sleek, or elegant even. But she does have a classical style. Designed by the Dutch masters at Dykstra Naval Architecture, the boat is distinguished by its towering navy-blue steel hull, snowy-white, two-level aluminum superstructure, sweeping canoe stern, and a trio of soaring masts. Her design inspiration is said to be the triple-masted schooner Eos , built by Germany’s Lürssen Yachts in 2006 for American media mogul Barry Diller. And, ignoring the current trend of oversized windows, Koru ‘s hull sides are dotted with traditional portholes with smaller-than typical windows for the upper decks (no doubt helping to protect guests from paparazzi lenses). Little is known about the yacht’s interior design, other than it’s the work of London-based Mlinaric, Henry and Zervudachi studio. Oceanco’s website describes the interior as a “timeless, contemporary style, with natural wood tones complemented by a palette of warm neutrals and beautifully patterned textiles.”

Claiming the Prize for Size

where are absolute yachts built

At 410 feet bow to stern and with a beam of 56 feet, Koru is the largest sailing yacht in the world. Some might argue the title should go to the 468-foot Sailing Yacht A . But that quirky, Philippe Stark–designed triple-master is considered a “sail-assisted motoryacht” rather than a true sailing yacht. Koru is also big inside, with a reported internal volume of 3,300 gross T=tons, that offers room for up to 18 guests in nine cabins and accommodations for a crew of 36.

A True Sailor

where are absolute yachts built

Full credit to Jeff Bezos for ignoring his fellow billionaires’ penchant for giant, diesel-guzzling superyachts. (Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg recently took delivery of his 387-foot Launchpad , powered by quadruple MTU engines packing a combined 23,400 hp.) With its giant, more-than-20,000-square-foot sail plan (including three mainsails and three, cutter-style headsails), Koru has been regularly photographed cruising under sail. It’s also believed the yacht is making an effort to focus on sustainability, from reports of it testing out a prototype kinetic energy recovery system that converts wave-induced motion into electrical energy. The vessel is also believed to feature a hybrid power system with large battery banks that run its systems at night while at anchor.

Its 250-Foot, $75 Million “Tender”

where are absolute yachts built

The challenge with sailing yachts, even one that’s 410 feet long, is that it’s nearly impossible to land a helicopter on the deck. So Bezos commissioned a 250-foot support vessel, named Abeona after the Roman goddess of travelers. The largest shadow vessel ever built by Holland’s Damen Yachting, this explorer comes with a rear-deck helipad and hangar big enough to accommodate an Airbus ACH-135 helicopter. There’s also space aboard for a small armada of water toys and tenders, plus accommodations below decks for up to 45 crew and support staff.

Built Under Total Secrecy

Tasked with taking Koru from concept to reality was the superyacht builder Oceanco, based south of Rotterdam in Alblasserdam, Holland. The famed yard, owned by billionaire Mohammed Al Barwani, who also owns Turquoise Yachts in Turkey, recently completed Steven Spielberg’s new 357-foot superyacht Seven Sea s, and the similar-sized Bravo Eugenia , launched in 2018 for Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Koru was reportedly first commissioned in 2018 as Project Y721 and delivered to the Amazon founder in Gibraltar in April 2023.

What’s in a Name?

where are absolute yachts built

While a betting person might have predicted that Bezos would have given his sailing yacht a more Amazon-connected name, like Prime, Deliverance, or even Blue Origin after his space company, he picked Koru . The name is said to be Maori for “loop” or “coil” and resembles the spiral shape of an unfurling silver fern frond. It’s said to be an integral symbol of New Zealand Maori art that symbolizes new life and new beginnings. Look closely at the wooden figurehead on Koru ‘s bow and the necklace around the woman’s neck features a pendant shaped like the koru symbol.

A Bridge Too Far

where are absolute yachts built

As Koru was nearing completion in 2021, word got out that builder Oceanco had approached the city of Rotterdam in Holland, offering to pay for the partial disassembly of the historic 97-year-old Koningshaven lift-bridge, which was too low for the yacht with its triple 230-foot masts in place, to pass under on its way to the North Sea. The city reportedly consented, but the move resulted in a huge public outcry with threats to plaster Koru with eggs as it passed through the bridge. Oceanco withdrew its application and instead towed the yacht to Rotterdam’s Greenport shipyard west of the city, transported the masts by barge, and installed them there.

The Places You’ll Go

where are absolute yachts built

Hot on the heels of Koru ‘s handover in Gibraltar in April last year, the superyacht has seemingly been cruising non-stop. It was spotted exploring Spain’s Balearic Islands, anchored off Cannes during the film festival, and moored at celebrity hot spots like Saint-Tropez, Capri, Portofino, and Porto Cervo, Sardinia. Bezos reportedly proposed to Sánchez on the bow of Koru off Cannes in May last year, followed by an engagement party aboard in Positano, Italy with a guest list that included Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kris Jenner, Toby Maguire, and Queen Rania of Jordan. Then Koru cruised the 4,000-plus miles across the Atlantic to Fort Lauderdale for a re-fuel and re-supply before heading to the Caribbean for winter cruising. This summer it was back to the Mediterranean for more island-hopping.

These container units perfectly match the design of existing TF units and have the same ease of handling. They can be used for storing various materials, such as outdoor furniture covers, mooring lines and so forth. They are self-draining, so they are suitable for wet items.

TF Storage Modules, like the rest of the range, feature clean, linear forms that seamlessly fit to Absolute’s contemporary iconic style of marine architecture. They are built to last, made using prestigious materials sculpted into shapes of timeless design that feel right and look right. In short, form follows function in these modules, and they are ideally suited to the unique atmosphere of a luxury yacht, whose space and interiors are designed primarily to constitute a privileged pedestal from which to admire the beauty of the sea and the coast. Like Absolute’s yachts, the TF modules express meticulous attention to detail, sensitivity to the environment, and a constant quest for refined comfort.

where are absolute yachts built

Absolute is pleased to announce the official press presentation of the Navetta 70 , a totally new yacht whose  originality, architecture, design and detailing make it a trend-setting, iconic craft that represents a new direction not  only for Absolute but for the entire luxury yacht industry. The keyword that Absolute has chosen for the Navetta 70 is  “ allure ,” in reference to the magnetic attraction exerted by its innovative, modern yet classical appeal, based on its  architecture, its charismatic interior design, its performance at sea and its vocation for luxury. In fact, it is the result  of a totally new design concept .

The Navetta 70 presents all the distinctive characteristics hallmarking Absolute yachts, such as the stylish open lateral  gunwales, covered walkways, extensive glazing on main and lower decks. Inside, freedom of movement is ensured by  minimal use of steps, high ceilings and sliding doors. At the same time, it also has a wealth of innovative features that  mark the start of a new series. For example, the interiors feature a classic though highly contemporary interior design   style, based on bleached timber in sophisticated shades ranging from white to grey and black, with rounded corners  on the furnishing accessories, and bronzed details for sleek and glamorous looks. The saloon presents a new circular  ceiling motif that is repeated in other areas of the yacht, a free-standing table, and an enlarged galley area. This area  connects directly to the vast cockpit terrace aft, where an icemaker and a third mooring station are located.

From the cockpit terrace, a covered staircase leads up to the flybridge , which feels like part of a far larger yacht, with  spaces optimised for a table that can comfortably seat up to 8 guests, enjoying the shade offered by the hard top. It  can assume two different configurations depending on the customization selected: it can either be openable if one  opts for coverage by a sunshade, or fixed if one prefers the integration of solar panels . This second option is  particularly relevant to Absolute, which has always paid considerable attention to sustainability , even to the point of  integrating this issue into its corporate ethos, characterized by a deep love and respect for the marine environment.  The solar panels, which are light, efficient, flexible, and resistant to the effects of salt water, are equally useful while  sailing and during marina stopovers, enhancing the comfort of guests and crew on board. As in all of Absolute’s  Navetta yachts, the flybridge is a multi-functional space with a sequence of seamlessly integrated areas, from the  forward helm station to a wet bar, outdoor galley, and the leisure area astern with designer furniture that can be  rearranged to suit the occasion.

The allure of the Navetta 70 derives from the intense design work that has been dedicated to all parts of the yacht,  right through to the generously sized crew quarters comprising two berths and a separate galley. Its attractive  appearance is enhanced by Absolute’s unerring talent for colour selection and the exquisite crafts skill of Italy’s finest  artisans.

Welcome aboard the Navetta 58, “The Absolute Leader”

The Navetta 58 is a masterpiece of spatial engineering, with interiors that seem far larger than those of its competitors, and exteriors that bring everyone on board into contact with the marine environment. Its performance makes it a perfect cruising yacht with excellent range. It is described as a leader by virtue of its solidity and harmony, strength and grandeur, manoeuvrability, and technology.

The flybridge is an outdoor lounge offering a privileged viewpoint, a highly-liveable, multi-functional space with a well-equipped helm station surrounded by settees, a dinette with sofa, outdoor galley, grill and wet bar, and further aft, a terrace whose generous size can accommodate two loungers. The hard top with opening soft top incorporates an electrically-operated canopy for shade.

The sunbathing area in the bows is equally dynamic, with loungers that can be converted into settees, and a sofa that can become a comfortable setting for impromptu dining. It is accessed by means of walkways of generous width with ergonomic handrails, protected overhead and running back to the cockpit. The latter area is supremely flexible, with loose furniture that can be arranged as desired. The entire cockpit is roofed, providing shade and privacy for guests on board. A staircase on the port side leads up to the flybridge.

The main saloon is a symphony of Italian design, with leather upholstery, a crystal-topped side table, and immaculate finish, with a generous use of timber on walls and floor. The dining area, with U-shaped seating around the table, and the exceptionally well-equipped galley on the starboard side, is surrounded by Absolute’s signature windows, very large and providing panoramic, 360° views. Further forward, the main helm has a leather seat with flip-up bolster, comprehensive instrumentation with two 17-inch multi-function displays, air-conditioning vents and beverage holders, an electrically-actuated vertically-sliding window, and a side door that can be used to access the starboard walkway. In fact the digital throttles and shift, joystick and bow thruster controls are cleverly positioned so that the owner or captain can manoeuvre the yacht while standing on the side-deck for perfect visibility.

The sleeping area below is a paragon of luxury, with three cabins and three bathrooms. The owner stateroom is placed midships, with a double berth accessible from three sides, a desk, a vanity area, and a sophisticated bathroom. The VIP suite in the bows is equally impressive, with the ample interior space made possible by the hull’s distinctive design with near-plumb bow. The third twin-bedded cabin has berths that can be electrically united to form a double. The liveability of these accommodations is enhanced by sliding doors, another distinctive Absolute trademark.

The crew quarters are accessed from the transom, and comprise two berths with a head and shower, storage, portlights, and a door leading into the engine room. Here, a pair of Volvo Penta D8-IPS800 engines provide all the power and manoeuvrability needed for cruising and mooring, easily controlled by means of the wheel and IPS joystick at the helm stations. The luxury of accommodation is accompanied by all the latest technology, including a Dynamic Positioning System and a Seakeeper gyro stabiliser to minimise rolling in heavy seas.

In conclusion, the Navetta 58 is a true leader for its sector, ideal both for coastal cruising and more ambitious voyages made possible by the craft’s range, in the unique style of designer luxury that the world of yachting has come to expect from Absolute.

The Navetta 64 is immediately recognisable as a typical Absolute yacht. The exterior is hallmarked by the massive area of glazing enclosing the saloon and main helm, along with equally generous hull windows corresponding to the owner and VIP cabins, and the elegant, dynamic motif formed by the side rail with its open gunwales and raked columns. All this glass and open space serves to bring the seascape into close connection with the interior, to the benefit of the guests on board.

In fact the exteriors of the Navetta 64 reveal many different ways of experiencing the sea. A remarkable piece of design innovation can be seen in the Beach Club, with a cabin looking onto the stern platform. Enclosed by glazing, this space can be used as a beach-club lounge, with a generously-sized sofa, or as a normal double stateroom, with a bed created by folding down the settee back, for use by two lucky guests. The bed itself is at a level slightly lower than the stern platform, giving guests a superb view of the sea, reminiscent of an infinity pool.

Just a few steps up from the Beach Club brings you to the cockpit terrace, another spacious outdoor area, with a table, settee, bar facilities and extensive storage. Covered overhead, with the possibility of extra privacy provided by vertical roller shades, the cockpit terrace has a staircase up to the flybridge, and lateral walkways leading to the bows with its sundeck and dining area. The foredeck terrace has extensive cushioned sunbathing areas, with a dining table and settees.

The flybridge is another space celebrating the connection with the sea. Far wider than the flybridge of any other yachts in its category, it offers an all-day setting with multiple, seamlessly-linked areas, from the helm station where the owner can pilot the yacht in the company of guests, to a dining area and galley, with shade offered by the hard top with retractable canopy, and a stern area for relaxation. If required, the flybridge can be completely enclosed with folding transparent walls running on rails around the hard top, creating another cooled space.

Inside, the accommodation is designed with the same taste for innovation, with the constant objective of heightening comfort and practicality. The owner stateroom in the bows is at a level slightly higher with respect to the other cabins. Its position with respect to the waterline, along with the size of the windows, ensures superb views of the sea. The stateroom has a vanity unit, a desk, ample storage space, and a magnificent full-beam bathroom, with surfaces in marble, timber, steel and glass, and all the amenities that will make you feel perfectly at home. Midships there is another double VIP stateroom, and a twin-berth cabin with day head. The two-berth crew cabin is accessible directly from a door on the starboard side, an arrangement normally found on larger yachts, and one that ensures comfort for the crew and privacy for owner and guests.

The saloon benefits from Absolute’s trademark use of extensive glazing, with 360° views, from the reverse-slope frameless curved windscreen right back to the transom doors. The galley is positioned for convenient use serving both the saloon dining area and the cockpit terrace. Furnished with Absolute’s masterful design skill, the saloon features a warm colour palette enhanced by natural materials such as Canaletto walnut, solid elm, crystal glass and marble. The main helm is raised a couple of steps above the saloon floor level, ensuring perfect visibility for the owner at the controls, while retaining connection with the main living space. A door to starboard provides rapid access to the walkway during docking, and a vertically-opening window on the other side offers natural ventilation.

The keyword utilised by Absolute for the Navetta 64 is “pathfinder”, and, considering the wealth of innovative design lavished on this yacht, this is an apt description. In addition to guest comfort, the Navetta 64’s utilities are planned for convenient and practical use, with services that include a laundry room, and a corridor providing access to deep stowage compartments. Last but not least, the yacht’s technical systems are state-of-the-art, with two Volvo Penta D13-IPS1350 engines providing a total of 2000 HP power, and Garmin multifunction displays at the main and flybridge helm stations.

There is a docking station on the cockpit terrace, along with another typically Absolute design touch: a hidden tube specially for boat hook stowage, incorporated into the structure of the port window. In fact, no other shipbuilder has created a specific housing for this simple but very important piece of onboard equipment, logically stowed close to the docking helm so that it is immediately on hand, ready for use during mooring manoeuvres.

Without doubt, the Absolute Navetta 64 is sailing a course towards the future of luxury yachting.

Absolute has dedicated attention to sustainability for decades, long before it became such a topical theme. For our company, building the finest yachts on which to enjoy the marine environment has always gone hand-in-hand with the need to protect this natural resource from the impact of human activities, which of course include navigation on luxury yachts such as ours.

Solar panels are therefore an important part of our approach to marine architecture and engineering. In many marinas all over the world, the presence of at least one person on board is mandatory for a mains electrical connection. Solar panels on the other hand make it possible to keep the yacht’s batteries fully charged when the yacht is moored in the marina with no-one on board and no mains connection. They are also very useful when cruising, enhancing comfort for the owner, guests and crew, when the boat is at anchor in a secluded bay. The solar panels provide enough power to continue running essential services , so that the diesel generator can be switched off, reducing emissions and offering total silence and absence of vibrations .

While we would never wish to claim primacy in the adoption of solar panel technology, there is no doubt that Absolute was the first shipyard to combine solar panels with very large openable windows permitting significant natural ventlation . While the energy produced by photovoltaic panels is sufficient for refrigerators and on-board infotainment systems, switching off the generator means going without air-conditioning, and the air flow made possible by appropriately-designed windows helps maintain a comfortable climate on board.

The solar panels built into the flybridge roof on many of our models are products specifically designed for the marine sector by the Solbian company co-founded by champion yachtsman Giovanni Soldini . Their specifications comprise reduced weight , high flexibility , efficiency , shock resistance and the ability to withstand the effects of salt water , in addition to the same approach of sustainability championed by Absolute. In fact, Solbian’s solar panels are designed not only to generate clean energy, but also to reduce any negative effects on the environment during all phases of product life, from the sourcing of raw materials, to manufacture and right through to final disposal or recycling.

Absolute’s use of solar panels reflects the corporate ethos, hallmarked by an infinite love and respect for the ocean environment, and the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability , not for marketing purposes but because this has always been a distinctive feature to our approach to shipbuilding. The company’s energy-saving technology used on its yachts reduces fuel consumption and emissions and increases the comfort of guests and crew. We are happy to be able to say that our customers increasingly share our eco-sensitivity. Today, more than ever before, safeguarding the environment is a challenge that we cannot afford to lose.

Exports continue to drive the growth in Italian GDP, sustaining the high reputation of Italian-made products around the world. Absolute Yachts , already included in the Campioni dell’Export (Export Champions) ranking in the year 2022, took 36th place in 2023 , among a total of 200 companies selected for this prestigious award. In fact, Absolute’s export quota reached 89,53% , generated by exports.

For Absolute Yachts, based in Podenzano, near Piacenza, this result is in a way a winning position . In fact, Absolute is the first and only yacht builder included in the ranking. It exports yachts of the highest quality in the Navetta, Flybridge and Coupé ranges, offering its customers the very best of Made in Italy, based on quality materials and superb levels of craftsmanship.

Campioni dell’Export (Export Champions) 2023, compiled by Italian business newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore and the German multinational market data platform Statista, is a list of the 200 companies with the highest export performance in 2021, taking into consideration enterprises that manufacture goods in Italy and export them internationally. To be included in the 2023 ranking, a company has to fulfil a number of criteria: a turnover of at least €1.5 million in 2021, a maximum turnover of €500 million, and a production hub in Italy. The calculation of the export share is the ratio of turnover from export activities with respect to the company’s total turnover in 2021. The minimum share considered for the ranking is 31,2 per cent.

“The very high quality of the materials we use,” says Cesare Mastroianni , Vice-president Sales & Chief Commercial Officer at Absolute S.p.A., “and the unparalleled artisanal expertise that has always hallmarked our products, are two components that have ensured our success on the global market, confirming just how important attention to detail is in reinforcing the reputation of Italian products.”

Other important factors underpinning Absolute’s success on the international market include innovative design to increase comfort and the quality of the on-board experience, the ability to customise yachts according to customer requirements, and a strong focus on sustainability at all stages of the product life cycle.

For Absolute Yachts, this recognition follows its success in the same ranking in 2022, as well as the awards won by its boats at the world’s most important boat shows. “Our position in the Campioni dell’Export 2023 ranking provides further confirmation that the strategy undertaken by our shipyard in recent years is taking us on the right course,” says Cesare Mastroianni.

A prestigious setting for the world premiere presentation of the 52 Fly

15-19 february 2023.

Absolute Yachts returns to Miami for the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show , the largest boat and yacht event in the world with over 1,000 exhibitors and thousands of boats. Absolute’s presence in Miami will be hallmarked by the world premiere presentation of the new 52 FLY , plus the 56 FLY , the 60 FLY , the Navetta 64 and the Navetta 75 . Taking place from 15 to 19 February 2023, the glamorous show will feature, in addition to the boats, a series of live concerts, interactive boating experiences, the latest innovations in aquatic recreation, and the legendary Miami parties that go on until the small hours.

The Absolute 52 FLY is the latest arrival in the brand’s Flybridge range . The keyword chosen by Absolute to describe the 52 FLY is “direction”, and in fact it constitutes a new way forward in the world of yachting, offering space and features impossible to find in other boats of this size. All its features were designed to guarantee a comfortable cruising experience , enhanced by the ample headroom, a minimal use of steps, and endless thoughtful design details that make life on board a pure pleasure. The open-air areas provide innovative ways of enjoying the marine environment at all times of day, from breakfast on the spacious cockpit terrace, through to sunbathing on the bow loungers and cocktails on the stunning flybridge , complete with dining table, galley and bar unit. Inside, the saloon offers 360° views by virtue of the extensive glazing. The galley has everything that even the most demanding chefs need, and it includes a spacious pantry , unusual in this category of yachts. The full-beam owner cabin is located in the bows for optimum peace and tranquillity. A midships VIP cabin is in every way comparable to a second master cabin, a true surprise for its space and en-suite bathroom. The third guest cabin has an electrical system for seamless transformation from twin berths to double. In addition, there is a multi-function crew cabin .

The 56 FLY , at its premiere presentation in the USA, is a compendium of versatility, innovation and excellence, packed with thoughtful features that make it perfect for extended travel at sea. The basic concept underpinning the 56 FLY is “charisma”, a characteristic emerging from the yacht’s extraordinary attention to detail . The separation between the yacht and the marine environment is minimised by transparent parapets and open gunwales. Absolute’s masterly use of modular furniture ensures that spaces for relaxation at the bows and in the cockpit area can be personalised according to the occasion, from breakfast overlooking the sea right through to cocktails with your friends at sunset.

The 60 FLY is a model with characteristics normally associated with much larger craft. Its exterior design facilitates use by both guests and crew, with two lateral stairwells from stern cockpit to swim platform, and seamless transitions between saloon, galley and cockpit that enhance liveability. The keyword for the 60 FLY is “prism”, and this expresses the yacht’s uniquely multi-faceted aspect, its ability to provide many different ways of enjoying the sea by means of an incredibly versatile layout. The aft cockpit is exceptionally spacious and comfortable, and its furnishings can be tailored according to user requirements. The flybridge becomes a lofty open-air space, itself combining different settings, from the ultra-accessorized fly helm station to the dining area with galley, and a stern platform for total relaxation.

The Navetta 64 shares all the Navetta DNA, but with some remarkable innovations. Saloon glazing is uninterrupted to offer 360° views from the saloon, and here the original feature is the reverse-raked windscreen in front of the helm station, giving the captain greater visibility and creating a distinctive, aggressive design touch. Another point of strength is the optional beach club , with a cabin looking on to the stern platform and a double sliding glass window at sea level. The flybridge is an experience in itself, with a space for relaxation at the stern, a dining area with bar and grill at the centre, and a helm station flanked by two C-shaped settees. Throughout, the Navetta 64 features Absolute’s signature artisanal skill , with materials such as solid walnut and elm timber, crystal glass and steel.

The flagship Navetta 75 embodies all the characteristics that hallmark Absolute yachts. For this reason, its keyword is “sphere”, a reference to its all-round perfection . It offers a sensation of generous space , achieved by features such as the extensive use of sliding doors , and exceptionally large windows . For example, the owner cabin , located in the bows for maximum silence and privacy, has large hullside windows that optimise light and views, a centreline queen berth accessible from three sides, a walk-in closet and a full-beam bathroom. The cabins also comprise two doubles with en-suite bathrooms, and a twin-berth cabin at midships. Crew quarters offer generous space for up to three, with separate galley and laundry room, features typical of much larger yachts. The design innovation lavished on the Navetta 75 includes a system of stairs and passageways that enables the crew to operate in total discretion without having to pass through the salon or other guest spaces.

Absolute’s yachts will be moored at One Herald Plaza – stand HP B33 . For information on the show, see https://www.miamiboatshow.com .

Absolute Yachts is pleased to announce the return of Boot Düsseldorf , the world’s largest sports trade show with a vast range of exhibits, from dinghies to superyachts. The 2023 event takes place from 21 to 29 January , once again on the international calendar after the two-year break caused by the Covid pandemic. It will be held at the Messe Düsseldorf trade fair district, easy to reach by public transport.

Absolute will be present at Boot Düsseldorf with four yachts , 47 FLY , 50 FLY , 60 FLY , and the new 56 FLY . In fact the two latter models, exhibited for the first time in Düsseldorf, have been nominated for two prizes, for which the winners will be announced at the Boot show: European Powerboat of the Year (56 FLY for the “Up to 20 metres” category), and the MBY Awards (56 FLY for the “Flybridges up to 60ft” category, and 60 FLY for the “Flybridges over 60ft” category).

While the brand has chosen to focus on the Fly range in terms of the yachts physically present, visitors will also find comprehensive information on yachts in Absolute’s other two ranges, Navetta and Coupé , with our dealers on hand for personalized advice and appointments.

56 FLY continues the revolutionary features of Absolute’s Fly range, hallmarked by technological innovation and Italian design. It fully merits its defining word “ charisma ”, as it evokes admiration at first sight. Comfort and versatility are enhanced by the unparalleled detail design, while the boundaries between the yacht and the sea are blurred by transparent parapets and open gunwales. Absolute’s masterly use of modular furniture ensures that spaces for relaxation at the bows and in the cockpit area can be personalised according to the occasion, from breakfast overlooking the sea right through to cocktails with your friends at sunset. Attention to sustainability and user-friendly engineering can be seen in the solar panels built into the hard top, providing advanced levels of energy independence and silence, and enabling you to enjoy your favourite bay without the sound of a generator humming in the background. The interiors are flooded with natural light , whether in the superb saloon with its ultra-modern kitchen, in the stunning full-beam owner’s cabin in the bows, or in the VIP cabin midships, virtually a second master cabin. Throughout, steps are reduced to a minimum, and headroom is optimised.

The second Absolute innovation at Boot Düsseldorf is the 60 FLY , a model with characteristics normally associated with much larger craft. Its exterior design facilitates use by both guests and crew, with two lateral stairwells from stern cockpit to swim platform, and seamless transitions between saloon, galley and cockpit that enhance liveability . The word chosen by Absolute to describe the 60 FLY is “ prism ”, and this expresses the uniquely multi-faceted aspect of this yacht, its ability to offer many different ways of enjoying the sea. The flybridge becomes a lofty open-air space, itself combining different settings, from the ultra-accessorized fly helm station to the dining area with galley, and a stern platform for total relaxation.

The 47 FLY represents the perfect introduction to the Absolute world, a 14-metre yacht that showcases the design, spaces and materials hallmarking the brand’s larger models. Not surprisingly, its keyword is “ gateway ”, an introduction to a new style of life afloat. But with its beautifully-finished cabins, spacious exteriors and superbly-organised flybridge, the 47 FLY can in no way be considered a small boat. It has all the qualities that have made Absolute famous worldwide, such as excellent comfort on board, good manoeuvrability and low fuel consumption. Below deck, the 47 FLY has three cabins , the owner cabin in the bows with walk-around double bed, a VIP cabin midships, and another twin-bed cabin.

The 50 FLY represents yet another successful combination of dimensions and functionality. This yacht in particular benefits from the minimalist pillars supporting the hard top, heightening the sense of space on the flybridge which is amongst the largest for yachts in this class. The saloon similarly offers remarkably generous dimensions, with a comprehensively-equipped helm and massive windows that maximise the sea views. Functionality is enhanced by a galley with an electrically-sliding glazed partition for easy serving to guests, large sofas, a powerful air conditioning system, and superb entertainment facilities with quality speakers and a stereo installation.

A visit to the Absolute stand at Boot Düsseldorf provides an excellent opportunity to view the extraordinary attention to detail that has been one of the brand’s distinctive features right from the start.

Absolute will be present at stand B28 in Hall 6 .

52 FLY, the latest model in the Flybridge range, is a truly revolutionary yacht. Its keyword “ direction ” indicates Absolute’s intentions for the new 52 FLY: a ground-breaking direction for the market and an innovative point of reference for the entire sector. The company has used its heritage of industry-leading design and engineering to create this yacht, which has all the features of the Flybridge family , in a more compact size. It is a dazzling masterpiece of marine architecture, a highlight even in this particularly crowded area of the market.

The 52 FLY successfully incorporates all the enchanting Absolute hallmarks, such as a flybridge with a stern terrace , a spacious cockpit terrace linked to the saloon and galley, foredeck with settee, table and sunbed, and a full-beam master cabin in the bows. With its open gunwale design, a glazed parapet at the stern of the cockpit terrace, a three-leaf sliding saloon door and the vast windows – whose width far exceeds that of much larger yachts – the 52 FLY privileges unimpeded views of the marine setting. The outdoor spaces, accessorised with Absolute’s signature modular furniture , can be rearranged to suit the occasion.

Finish is at the highest levels throughout. The saloon ceiling features a circular motif with recessed LED lighting. Panelling and furniture are in light-coloured natural timber throughout, with leather trim. The galley , seamlessly linked to the cockpit, has everything that even the most demanding chefs need, and it includes a spacious pantry , unusual in this category of yachts.

The bow full-beam master cabin is generously-sized, with a large double bed surrounded by lots of walk-around room, high ceilings, ample storage space, and wonderful sea views provided by the exceptionally large windows. The VIP cabin midships is in every way comparable to a second master cabin, a true surprise for its luxury and space. The third guest cabin has an electrical system, fitted as standard, for easy transformation from twin berths to double bed. In addition, there is a versatile crew cabin with access from the stern platform for complete privacy.

In short, the 52 FLY, with remarkable technology, design and performance, is the perfect expression of Absolute’s direction: exploring new routes and navigating to the next level of comfort .

Absolute will be exhibiting at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show with two premiere presentations for the USA, the new Navetta 75 and the 48 Coupé , which will be present in-water, along with the 68 Navetta and the 52 Navetta . Another highlight will be the press conference presentation of the 52 FLY , with preview images of this revolutionary yacht in advance of its debut scheduled for the Miami International Boat Show in February 2023.

With over 1,300 boats on display and a public of 100,000+ visitors, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) is the largest in-water boat show in the world. After its record-breaking 2021 edition, this year’s event will take place from 26 to 30 October in the sunny South Florida location, with water-taxi services offering a convenient mode of moving throughout the seven show sites.

The Navetta 75 , Absolute’s new flagship, will arrive in Florida fresh from its success at the Cannes Yachting Festival (6-11 September 2022) where it won the 2022 World Yacht Trophies Prize in the “ Best Interior Design ” category. Its keyword “ sphere ” expresses an all-round quest for perfection, optimizing the cruising experience. Absolute’s mastery of marine architecture maximizes the space and gives the impression of a yacht far larger than its 75-foot length. Sliding doors and extensive glazing optimize the sense of contact with the outside world, placing you at the very center of your own personal beach club. On the signature cockpit terrace, sea views are given pride of place by a glazed balustrade and a discreet stainless steel guardrail. Bespoke modular furniture can be arranged and rearranged as desired, for a space that accompanies you throughout the day, from close contact with the sea on the beach platform, a relaxed lunch in the shade of the retractable canopies, right through to aperitifs and even an impromptu disco. On the Navetta 75, everything has been carefully studied right down to the smallest details, so that every moment offers opportunities for enjoyment. Whether it is the comprehensive entertainment equipment, the interior lighting, the beautiful furnishings crafted by skilled Italian artisans in prestigious materials that give them the fragrance of absolute quality, or the expertly-sculpted space that ensures ample headroom throughout, Navetta 75 is a constant source of positive surprise for the owner, guests, captain and crew.

The sporty, dynamic 48 Coupé opens up new horizon s for the brand. Its wide and spacious cockpit has no visual barriers or fixed obstacles, and the open gunwale design offers a direct view of the sea. The new glazed balustrades towards the stern further enhance scenic enjoyment, and visibility is maximized even in the saloon and helm station, offering a breath-taking 360-degree panorama . The 48 Coupé demonstrates Absolute’s commitment to sustainability , with solar panels set in the roof, including a transparent panel for natural lighting . The electricity generated in this way enables owner and guests to enjoy a paradise bay without the hum of generators, with natural ventilation rendered possible by the electrically-opened windows. Below decks, three comfortable cabins with high ceilings offer unparalleled livability for a yacht of this size.

The Absolute 52 FLY , presented as a preview at the press conference while awaiting its physical presence at the Miami 2023 show – the first event in which it will take part – is the latest arrival in the brand’s Flybridge range. It presents all the revolutionary characteristics that hallmarked the preceding 56 and 60-foot models, in a more compact format but with the same incredible engineering commitment . It is no coincidence that the keyword chosen to describe the 52 FLY is “ direction ”: it represents a true “polestar” in the world of yachting, a new point of reference, offering space and features difficult to find in boats of this size. Its open cockpit and flybridge terrace offer innovative ways of enjoying the marine environment at any time of day or night, ideal for people who yearn for the sight of a sunset on the water and the fresh air of the coastal breeze. The groundbreaking interiors pamper guests in their favorite comfort zones, and they include a saloon of refined elegance, enhanced by the finest materials of nautical tradition. The galley has everything that even the most demanding chefs need, and it includes a spacious pantry , unusual in this category of yachts. The full-beam master cabin offers many unique features, and its position in the bows guarantees peace and tranquility. A midships double is in every way comparable to a second master cabin , a true surprise for its luxury and space. The third guest cabin has an electrical system for seamless transformation from twin berths to double. In addition, there is a multi-function crew cabin. It is no exaggeration to say that Absolute’s 52 FLY indicates a new direction for the world of luxury yachting.

We look forward to meeting you at FLIBS and showing you around these state-of-the-art yachts. Please contact us for further information and appointments: [email protected]

Absolute will be exhibiting at Bahia Mar Convention Center, Face Dock #5F.

Absolute’s prestige position in the luxury yachts sector was confirmed at Cannes by the 2022 World Yacht Trophies prize , awarded to the Navetta 75 in the “ Best Interior Design ” category.

In fact the Navetta 75 , Absolute’s new flagship, presents all the brand’s interior design hallmarks, a combination of style, comfort and functionality in interiors that can be modulated according to the occasion. For example, the galley can be continuous with the saloon, or separated, by means of a vertically-sliding mirror panel. Another distinctive design feature can be seen in the system of stairs and passageways that enables the crew to operate in total discretion, without having to enter guest spaces.

Absolute’s choices for interior design are always in function of optimal comfort: for instance, the full-beam master cabin is in the bows, for privacy and tranquillity. Throughout, Absolute’s matchless artisanal skill and the finest materials – timber, leather, glass, stainless steel, marble – can be seen in interiors expressing Italian design flair.

The Navetta 75 was a world premiere at the Cannes show from 6 to 11 September. At this event, Absolute also showcased yachts from the Fly (50, 56 and 62 Fly) and Navetta ranges, from the spacious 48 to the Navetta 68. The 48 Coupé , from Absolute’s third range, brought the total to nine boats afloat .

The second world premiere presented by Absolute at Cannes was the 56 Fly , which, like Navetta 75, won universal acclaim from the many visitors and journalists who took the opportunity of examining the brand’s expertise from close up. The 56 Fly revealed many ingenious details in the area of sustainability , an important value for Absolute, as exemplified by the use of solar panels, and saloon windows that slide down to offer natural ventilation for optimum liveability when at anchor.

The flybridge offers all the pleasures of life aboard a yacht, with a command post benefiting from optimal views, a wet bar complete with refrigerators and ice-maker, outdoor galley and dining facilities, sunbed, sunroof and stern terrace.

The press conference held on 7 September mentioned Absolute’s buoyant growth even in the two pandemic years of 2020 and 2021, and the authorisation for enlarging the plant in Podenzano, near Piacenza, to provide an additional 5,800 square metres for new models and equipment.

During the conference, the awards ceremony for Top Dealers was held. The Best New Entry prize was awarded to Yachting Partners Malta , for the immediate enthusiasm, involvement and effectiveness demonstrated by a new Absolute dealer in a challenging market environment. Best Brand Ambassador was awarded to Absolute Marine Ltd (Hong Kong) for the optimum presentation of Absolute’s products and prestige to demanding and qualified customers. The Best Absolute Friend award was dedicated to the memory of Mario Cakar from Adriatic Wave (Croatia).

Absolute’s next appointment on the international scene is the Genoa International Boat Show , from 22 to 27 September 2022.

The Genoa International Boat Show continues its voyage towards the future, with an entirely new exhibition space designed by Renzo Piano that will be completed for the 2023 edition. This year, the 62nd International Boat Show will be held from 22 to 27 September , with over a thousand exhibitors attracting both journalists and connoisseurs sharing a love of yachts and the sea.

After the success attained at the Cannes Yachting Festival – including the 2022 World Yacht Trophies prize awarded to the Navetta 75 in the “ Best Interior Design ” category – Absolute returns to Genoa with four yachts afloat, the Navetta 68 and 52 , and the 62 FLY , in addition to the new Navetta 75 .

An event such as the Genoa show is important because it offers the chance for visitors to experience the Absolute world first-hand. The “wow effect” that has become a customary occurrence for visitors boarding an Absolute yacht for the first time is guaranteed for the flagship Navetta 75 . This sensation is evoked by the interiors hallmarked by the finest materials – timber, leather, fabric wall coverings, stainless steel, glass – and the meticulously detailed design that reveals the brand’s absolute expertise in its field.

The size of the Navetta 75 enables it to express the brand’s mastery throughout, and in fact the keyword chosen for this craft is “ sphere ”, suggesting the concept of unrivalled perfection and balance . As for all Absolute yachts, the sense of space instilled by the Navetta 75 is exceptional and gives the impression of a far larger yacht. This is achieved by features that have become Absolute hallmarks, such as the use of sliding doors , very large windows , and the unobtrusive optimisation of every centimetre.

The Absolute yachting experience offered by the Navetta 52 lies in its appeal, its superb comfort and liveability, surpassing that of other similarly sized yachts. The saloon has 360° panoramic windows that ensure constant visual contact with the sea, with all the facilities that ensure unparalleled pleasure on board: a spacious galley, and a handy side door enabling the owner to supervise mooring operations. The saloon doors can be opened to create a functional open space overlooking the water. Absolute’s superb finish is found throughout the yacht, from the bow sun loungers to the comprehensively equipped fly and the spacious cabins.

The Navetta 68 offers a vision of the Absolute approach, as exemplified by the flybridge terrace . This extensive area invites relaxation in good company, with sofas alongside the helm station, an outdoor galley, dining table and sofas, in short, all that you need for quality time in a beautiful marine setting. Below decks, the master suite is in the bows for privacy and tranquillity, with a large double bed accessible from three sides, and an en-suite head and shower. Throughout, the materials are the finest available, assembled with state-of-the-art expertise and demonstrating Absolute’s signature Italian design flair.

Absolute’s 62 FLY  offers a very special alchemy, an artful combination of beauty, power, comfort and harmony. This is immediately evident from the exterior , featuring a streamlined, dynamic hull design with flowing lines and vast mirrored windows. The flybridge ensures a total outdoor experience, with a sun lounger, a double helm station, table and sofa, fridge, ice maker, barbecue, and a stern terrace. The saloon can be modulated according to the occasion by means of a retractable glass screen and a sliding access door. The command console in carbon fibre enhances the yacht’s sporty look, that benefits from the high performances of the Volvo Penta IPS engines.

We look forward to meeting you at the Genoa International Boat Show , where you can savour the Absolute experience at the Yachts & Superyachts area, pier E , booth YE09 .

Navetta 75 – The Absolute Sphere is the latest development of Absolute: the largest boat in the shipyard, “The Absolute Sphere”, is designed to expand the Navetta range. It is no coincidence that Absolute chose the sphere, a symbol of perfection and harmony, to describe a boat that embodies all the essential values and distinctive features that any new project should have in the Absolute shipyard.

The Navetta 75 incorporates the shipyard’s most unique features and style, the strengths that set it apart from competitors: in line with the new Fly range concept, the Navetta 75 project brings on board a terrace cockpit and the owner’s cabin at the bow . The new flagship includes also large windows , high ceilings and spaces designed on a single level, both on the main deck and on the lower deck.

Navetta 75 comes with two other highlights of the shipyard’s style: easy movement on board and ultimate privacy for the owners, their guests, and their crew. Indeed, from the main deck you can easily access the flybridge both from the aft and from the bow, thanks to two separate stairs. A dedicated crew area can be easily accessed from the cockpit, without interrupting the owners and their guests.

With Navetta 75, Absolute proves once again that research can be used to elevate design and meet every need on board, from sliding doors to generous storage compartments. The shipyard provides impressive solutions once again by offering beautifully designed external and internal areas for good times with friends and family and for absolute versatility in the flybridge and cockpit areas, with modular furnishings with no fixed structural elements.

The first boat of the shipyard’s new Coupé line, the 48-feet yacht stands out for a sporty character combined with comfort on board . Alongside maneuverability and cutting-edge technologies , the boat features ultimate liveability and versatility , panoramic views provided by large windows and a sustainable attitude .

Selection criteria for boats ranging between 14 and 20 meters (the largest among those evaluatedby the judges for the Awards), included the quality of life on board for trips lasting several weeks, the layout and distribution of spaces , along with performance .

The panel of judges consisted of expert test riders and editor-in-chiefs of leading motorboat magazines in Europe, with a coverage of over one million readers per month worldwide. Organized by German magazine BOOTE, the European Powerboat Awards are now one of the most prestigious awards for boating worldwide. The winners were announced during a virtual ceremony held on Friday 21 January.

Absolute Yachts confirms its international vocation by taking an excellent 39th place out of 200 companies selected for the 2022 Campioni dell’Export survey . The Piacenza-based shipyard is the only yacht builder to appear in the ranking.

The project was launched by Il Sole 24 Ore and the German multinational Statista to encourage exports and acknowledge the most virtuous Italian companies that stood out for their international business in various industries between 2020 and 2021, allowing the country to look to the future with a healthy dose of confidence.

The report was drawn up by selecting companies with headquarters and a manufacturing facility in Italy , founded by 2018, and not falling under any of the exclusion conditions provided for by art. 80 of Italian Legislative Decree. 50/2021. Another key selection criterion was that their 2020 turnover had to range between €1.5 and 500 million and feature high export volumes related to physical goods .

“This project about exports is a first for Statista: Italy is an excellent pilot country for this project, given its strong propensity for exports and the high reputation of Made in Italy products in the world”, said Thomas Clark, Senior Associate Partner at Statista. After all, exports play a central role in relaunching industrial growth, the recovery of the Italian economy and therefore national wealth and wellbeing.

Exports have always been especially important for Absolute Yachts, a Piacenza-based company that is proud to export Made in Italy quality worldwide through every detail of their boats, from workmanship to fine fabrics, furniture, and materials . The Campioni dell’Export 2022 recognition is a major milestone for the history of the shipyard, confirming their winning strategy and inspiring them to stay the course .

Now in its 62nd edition, the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show (FLIBS), “the largest boat show of the seven seas” for superyachts and superyacht enthusiasts, will be held in Florida from 27 to 31 October.

An unmissable opportunity for the American debut of the two new boats created in 2021 in the Absolute Yachts shipyard: 48 Coupé – the first boat in the new Absolute sports range – and 60 FLY , awarded for Best Layout in the 45 ‘- 60’ category during the Cannes boat show.

Through its large windows, 48 Coupé , ‘the Absolute Horizon’ , offers a boundless view of the sea, combining comfort, liveability and innovation with the bold lines of a sporty range. The large “terrace” cockpit accommodates versatile modular furnishings that can be easily rearranged to enjoy relaxation and leisure with friends.

Versatility has also inspired 60 FLY , also known as ‘the Absolute Prisma’ . Its roomy interiors allow for a full-beam owner’s cabin in the bow, a large relaxation area on the upper deck, and a spacious aft cockpit, without any fixed elements so it can be furnished as desired and needed. All of this is topped off with fine finishes, modular décor, glass rear parapets, and two ultramodern and functional steering consoles.

Representing the shipyard’s new Generation 2022 , both Absolute boats are completed with solar panels built into the hard-top, eco-friendly and silent, to ensure energy savings, clean energy and greater comfort and autonomy at anchor, powering on-board devices without using generators.

50 and 62 FLY boats will also be exhibited alongside the 60-footer, while the Navetta line will be represented by the 52 and 58 .

For twenty years, the shipyard in Piacenza, Northern Italy, has been a reference point for international boating. Here are the strengths of its luxury yachts.

Absolute yachts is an italian company that, since 2002, has been building luxury motor yachts between 47 to 73 feet . its three ranges— navetta , flybridge , and coupé —offer a high level of design and are the result of a completely internal production cycle focused on constant innovation..

Inside the Piacenza shipyard, the construction of luxury yachts revolves around three fundamental ideas: being a stimulus for the market by setting new ambitious goals; being able to surprise shipowners with increasingly higher levels of usability and autonomy; inspiring the shipyard itself in its constant effort to develop innovative models. This ambitious vision aims at combining beauty, design, and performance with other fundamental aspects such as livability, comfort, and safety.

Luxury yachts, Italian design

Thanks to the team of designers and the exquisitely skilled artisanal workers, the design of Absolute luxury yachts is recognized as an excellent example of Made in Italy . Valuable and exclusive characteristics define the exterior lines of all Absolute models. Such details are anything but trivial; the large windows without pillars offer, in fact, unprecedented views from both the salon and the cabins. Every year, this evolving design translates into new and intriguing features. To name a few: the charm of the side gunwales in the Navetta 64 , with sea views enjoyable directly from the cockpit; the glazed parapets on the new 60 FLY and 48 Coupé ; the solar panels and the side windows that can be widely open to convey the sea breeze inside the living room.

Versatile and livable luxury yachts

“What if you could sail away without ever feeling far from home?”

Beauty and practicality are the two essential requirements that find balance in our engineering and furniture solutions, making a luxury yacht the best premise for a vacation dedicated to family, friends, and total relaxation.

At a structural level, each space is designed to express its maximum potential and be fully enjoyable and exceptionally comfortable, especially when compared to yachts of similar or even greater size. For instance, the sliding doors below deck, the side door in the helm station—designed on all Absolute boats—and the large windows of the cabins and the salon are all remarkable engineering works that result from unique techniques and internal processes.

These luxury yachts express their highest value in usability. For example, their new modular furnishings allow you to configure the cockpit and the fly area according to your needs, the number of guests, and the time of day.

Absolute comfort for exclusive luxury yachts

Aboard the Absolute luxury yachts, accommodation is elevated to a higher level of comfort and elegance. The owner’s cabins become an actual owner’s quarter dedicated to relaxation, placed at the bow to offer maximum tranquility and privacy. These cabins are incomparably livable on every model of the Absolute range and are enriched by tasteful furnishings and refined details.

Luxury Yachts, reduced impact

Absolute makes luxury yachts with reduced environmental impact and solutions for making the boats one with nature. Aboard the new 48 Coupé, when in a roadstead, you can easily support the consumption of music, refrigeration, and other entertainment devices thanks to the solar panels integrated into the roof. At the same time, you will be caressed by the sea breeze in the living room by simply opening the side windows.

Innovation, sustainability, and the desire to transform onboard life have always been at the heart of the shipyard’s vision; however, they get a new face and strength today.

The 2022 nautical season starts having all this in mind. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Cannes Yacht Festival , a preview at the Absolute Weekend in Marina di Varazze revealed the new 60 FLY and 48 Coupé (the first model in the New Absolute Sports range).

These two new boats inherit the highest level of innovation achieved on the 2021 models: the 50 FLY and the award-winning Navetta 64. Moreover, they develop new top-notch features .

Enjoy the view aboard our new luxury yachts

Both on the cockpit and the fly area, the glazed parapets of the Absolute 60 FLY offer unparalleled views, while protecting incredibly roomy spaces, and are customizable with the new modular furnishings. The cockpit has no fixed elements and is configurable according to the actual use, so as to make every moment of the day perfect! Even below deck, the cabins are the ideal place to feel part of the landscape. The shipowner and the VIP cabin have large windows on both sides, obtained thanks to a special gluing match method between hull and deck that offer new solutions of the highest engineering value .

Absolute’s innovative and engineering efforts were fully rewarded in Cannes. Absolute joined the French boat show with its full Navetta range, two boats from the FLY range, and the two recent Generation 2022 boats: 48 Coupé , the first versatile and sporty creation in the brand-new Coupé line, and the multifaceted and spacious 60 FLY , which was awarded for Best Layout in the 45’ – 60’ category during the “World Yacht Trophies” ceremony.

Both boats surprised visitors for their unique design , the eco-friendly solutions consistent with the show’s strong focus on sustainability , and the functionality of the new modular furnishings .

A highlight of the event was the awards ceremony held for Absolute’s four Top Dealers 2021, loyal partners who have stood out for their collaboration, commitment and strategy this year.

A Croatian company with offices in Chioggia, Italy, Adriatic Wave is our Best Brand Ambassador “For the dedication and consistency in the promotional activities towards the brand, both on social media platforms and during private events, always carried out in elegant and engaging ways.”

A crucial dealer in Hong Kong, Absolute Marine Limited was named Best Strategic Dealer “For their foresight and strategy in managing the market in South-East Asia, and for their pioneering spirit that has always distinguished their business approach”.

The French Barcares Yachting was Absolute’s Best Growing Dealer “For the rapidity that has characterized the growth of the business within their territory and for the remarkable sales target achieved up to now”.

Finally, the American One Water Yacht Group was named Best Stocking Dealer, “For establishing a consistent and complete stock of yachts throughout the whole ranges, aimed at raising our brand awareness in their market”.

In the living room, the large electrically opening windows offer a boundless view of the sea, while a large “terrace” cockpit accommodates versatile modular furnishings that can be easily rearranged to enjoy relaxation and leisure with friends, while admiring boundless views of the sea.

Versatility has also inspired the 60 FLY , called ‘the Absolute Prisma’ for its multifaceted nature. LET CHARM AND PERSONALITY INSPIRE YOUR NEXT ROUTE

The result of engineering innovation, Italian design and a passion for details, the latest project by the Piacenza-based shipyard is called 56 FLY – The Absolute Charisma .

Featuring a strong, confident personality, 56 FLY was created to be noticed and to fascinate boat owners with a proven mix of comfort and fine design, but also innovation, functionality and on-board convenience.

“ Charisma ” encapsulates the essence of Absolute’s new craft, which brings together and builds on the most successful features of previous boats. With 56 FLY, Absolute has undertaken intense R&D work to enhance those hallmarks, including the revolution of the Flybridge Generation 2022 that began with 60 FLY – a new construction approach developed to ensure freedom of movement, ultimate versatility and liveability .

Along with a relaxing bow area with sun loungers and sofa, the outer aft areas are free of fixed elements , so they can be easily furnished as desired. To meet all needs, Absolute provides modular, versatile décor solutions for the entire range.

The visual boundaries between the boat and the sea vanish thanks to a transparent parapet in the cockpit, the open gunwales and the large windows with electric winder in the lounge area.

CONTEMPORARY DESIGN AND UNCOMPROMISED FUNCTIONALITY

The magnetic personality of 56 FLY is also expressed in its interiors, featuring comfortable, modern spaces, inspired by Absolute’s signature focus on ease of use.

Liveability culminates in a full beam owner’s cabin at the bow, designed to provide ultimate privacy and comfort , but also an outstanding view through panoramic windows; its interiors are embellished with sophisticated design, transparent details between cabin and bathroom and textural contrasts. As spacious as a second owner’s cabin, the VIP cabin is also full beam. The sleeping area is completed by a third full-feature cabin with single beds, complete with every comfort and with the same ceiling height as the other cabins.

Freedom of movement is the common thread throughout the interiors, connected by sliding doors and enhanced by surprisingly large windows for breath-taking morning views, with plenty of natural light flooding into the cabins.

There are numerous stowage areas to improve comfort in the sleeping area as in the living area, which also features a contemporary kitchen.

The dazzling bay on the Côte d’Azur returns to shine by reopening the most anticipated event among the Europe’s boat shows. In the heart of the city, the Provençal Vieux Port is preparing to welcome the world’s leading shipyards through elegance, luxury and high technology, marking a confident restart and an optimistic outlook for the industry.

Eager to participate, Absolute will display two new products to the general public for the first time – the brand new 48 Coupé and the 60 Fly – alongside a prestigious line-up of Fly boats ( 47, 50 and 62 Fly ) and the entire Navetta range, from the spacious 48 to the majestic 73.

Unveiled to the press during the Absoute Weekend in Varazze in late August, the 48 Coupé – the first-born of a fresh new range for the Piacenza shipyard – and the 60 Fly will have a place of honour on the moorings of the Vieux Port. Together, the two boats start a new generation of Absolute boats – “ Generation 2022 ” – the result of a year of extensive research and innovation.

Versatility has also inspired the 60 Fly , called ‘the Absolute Prisma’ for its multifaceted nature. The roomy interiors allow for a full-beam owner’s cabin in the bow, a large relaxation area on the upper deck, and a spacious aft cockpit, without any fixed elements so it can be furnished as desired and needed. All this is topped off with fine finishes, modular décor, glass rear parapets, and two ultramodern and functional steering consoles.

Absolute’s attention to sustainability completes Generation 2022 boats, providing renewable electricity and ensuring savings with the solar panels built into the hard top. This eco-friendly choice also serves as a way to improve the owner’s comfort and autonomy at anchor, powering on-board devices without using generators.

Absolute boats will be moored in the Pantiero Area – PAN 214, ready to welcome yachtsmen in their luxurious interiors. For more information on the Boat Show, get in touch with us at [email protected]. We will be happy to answer any of your enquires!

Absolute Yachts throws down the gauntlet to the luxury yacht industry with the new Coupé range : sporty, devoted to comfort, and highly versatile. The Coupé range has been completely re-invented by the Italian shipyard: the revolutionary ideas that have made Absolute’s models famous are back on board, enhanced by intriguing new features. For instance, they have been equipped with solar panels, large windows with panoramic openings, and a large “ terraced ” cockpit, in which new configurable layouts allow for maximum versatility of use.

The sporty lines preserve Absolute’s spirit and attention to the environment. Absolute 48 Coupé – The Absolute Horizon – stands out for her bold style, high level of usability, and a strong commitment to sustainability . For example, her roof is equipped with a set of solar panels, one of which is transparent to let in natural light without overheating the room. This offers a convenient and clean source of energy, which is particularly important while you are enjoying your surroundings at anchor.

In the salon, the large side windows envelop the entire deck and, together with the panoramic windshield, offer uninterrupted visibility. From the inside, this breathtaking view turns into an actual 360-degree panorama. Moreover, the windows can be electrically opened, letting in the sea breeze and creating a pleasant, natural air recirculation.

The cockpit is wide and extremely cozy, with no visual barriers or fixed obstacles. For this reason, its space can be adapted to multiple configurations, transforming itself to the desired way of life on board. The opening of the side gunwales offers a direct view of the sea and the new glazed balustrades towards the stern give an unparalleled scenery, even from the salon and the helm station. The outdoor furniture can be easily arranged in different configurations, adapting to the different needs onboard: perfect for either maximum relaxation or intriguing conversations.

Innovative and forward-looking engineering , to ensure a unique journey also below deck, where three comfortable cabins with high ceilings offer unparalleled livability for yachts of this size.

Absolute 48 Coupé will premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival, from September 7th to the 12th, 2021. The event will be preceded by a few special days for the press in August 2021.

Featuring IPS engines on all boats, Absolute Yachts is the first shipyard to provide the new Volvo Penta Assisted Docking system on its entire range.

Absolute and its engine supplier Volvo Penta build on their long-standing partnership to offer boat owners around the world the Assisted Docking system, the latest innovation launched by the famous Swedish manufacturer in 2021.

By collaborating the leading manufacturer of high-end engines, Absolute is now the only shipyard in the world currently able to offer the new system on its entire range of boats, from 47 to 73 feet, for Navetta, Fly and Coupé categories, equipped with Volvo IPS 10 | 15 | 20 | 30 engines and with the new Assisted Docking technology.

Always at the forefront of innovative, high-performance solutions, Volvo Penta has launched Assisted Docking to address the dual need to improve ease of use and safety.

The new technology was created to make docking easier and safer regardless of environmental conditions and the owner’s years of experience. Featuring innovative software that coordinates engine electronics, positioning, IPS propulsion and sensors, the system interprets and automates the captain’s intentions, automatically, compensating for dynamic variables such as wind and current, to ensure perfect docking.

The system consists of a joystick that controls the steering input, and a GPS-based dynamic positioning antenna. The captain maneuvers the boat with the joystick, informing the system which direction it should head and at what speed. Using the joystick, the software will hold the boat course automatically, adjusting for wind or current drift.

Enhancing the experience of all boat owners, the Assisted Docking system on Absolute boats will have global geographical coverage , from Europe to Asia, the USA and New Zealand, reaching Auckland with Absolute Navetta 58 and Fort Lauderdale with Absolute Navetta 73. Already available for boats with the IPS 10 propulsion system, Volvo Penta and Absolute are already testing the system on boats featuring IPS15 and IPS30 which are already arranged for Assisted Docking on board.

“Our collaboration with Absolute Yachts is an opportunity to test the Assisted Docking system on the entire range of Volvo Penta IPS-powered boats, in line with our Easy Boating philosophy. The goal is to add value to both the shipyard and the end user, by creating a truly integrated system from the propeller through to transmission and throttles” says Andrea Piccione , Head of Marine Sales for Volvo Penta.

For Europe, Varazze (Italy) will host a special world premiere on 27 – 29 August 2021 , when the Absolute 48 Coupé – also equipped with the Volvo Penta Assisted Docking technology – will be unveiled to journalists and a selection of international guests. The latest addition to the Absolute family, 48 Coupé will also be on display at the Genoa Boat Show and the Cannes Boat Show in September 2021.

“Our dialogue with suppliers is a great source of inspiration, especially strategic ones who share our values and objectives like Volvo Penta. Instead of following trends, we try to analyze and evaluate them, to set an evolutionary trend ourselves”, says Sergio Maggi , founding partner, Vice President and Director of the Absolute R&D department. The Assisted Docking system is clearly one of the solutions that will make it possible for us to meet the latest market needs by leveraging man-machine interaction, and to drive the shipyard’s evolutionary process.

Alongside the new 48 Coupé, the Cannes Boat Show will be an opportunity to get a first-hand view of the new system installed on the Absolute 47 FLY, destined for Hong Kong, and the Absolute 50 FLY, which will also be on display at the 2022 Mandelieu Show next spring.

Revolutionary choices and innovative solutions. Aboard Absolute’s motor boats, details are not the only thing that stands out.

On the one hand, in the production of our  luxury motoryachts , attention to detail is undoubtedly a fundamental requirement. Their thorough design takes into account several levels: the technical one that hinges on the high level of engineering; the technological one, continuously and quickly evolving; and that of the familiarity desired by the owners when they think about their boat. On the other, attention to detail is only one of the sides of our production process. Building high-level motor boats requires a contextual approach that includes a mix of exact design decisions, innovative choices, and constant collaboration with partners and suppliers.

Motoryacht and engineering

Each of our choices aims at a single purpose: the  complete satisfaction of both the shipowner and the guests . This can only be achieved through the realization of motor boats of the highest engineering quality.

The absence of constructive compromises  makes every design choice a strength for the shipyard, which is constantly committed to developing and evolving each model in comparison to the previous ones.

Successful choices often start with bold and resourceful decisions . For instance, the placement of the master cabin at the bow, a spacious and private area surrounded by panoramic windows without pillars, may seem normal from an external eye but it has been very challenging. The coupling of the hull/deck is the result of advanced research carried out by the designers of Absolute Yachts’ technical office.

Similarly, the  sliding doors below the deck  of   Absolute’s motoryachts  offer lots of room and improve the hallways, which are often narrow and uncomfortable on competitors’ boats.

A complete novelty for motoryachts “below 24 meters:” Navetta 64’s Beach Club

Absolute creates mega-yacht solutions even on motor boats ranging  from 47 to 73 feet . Engineering interventions, such as  the  Beach Club   aboard the  Navetta 64 , are true revolutions for motoryachts of this size. We thought of an elegant and cozy environment: perfect for both entertainment and relaxation in complete privacy.

From the door of the Beach Club, one enters  an actual VIP cabin , which is a truly groundbreaking element for motor boats of this size. Absolute wanted to offer the guests of the  Beach Club  a wide panoramic view that can be enjoyed all day long, as well as a spacious entrance opening. At the same time, similar solutions haven’t reduced the level of safety in all weather conditions and especially during navigation. Consequently, the front door was turned into  a work of high engineering . Fully glazed and a certified watertight door with a pneumatic seal. At rest the door is waterproof, but the seal expands during navigation, adhering to the metal frame and becoming completely watertight

Technology on Absolute’s motor boats

Aboard Absolute’s yachts, technology is developed for maximum efficiency, simplicity, and in order not to be cumbersome.

For example, our  compact and modern dashboards  are equipped with  all the necessary technology  to be safe and completely autonomous. Moreover, we often actively collaborate with our partners in the pre-launch stages of innovative technological products. By doing so, they can test their products aboard our boats. In this way, technology becomes the shipowner’s best friend and, thanks to the thorough planning of Absolute’s motoryachts, increases the pleasure of  navigating in complete freedom and control . This goal has been achieved with specific studies and smart engineering choices.

Among the specific studies that have developed our innovative solutions, we cannot but mention the windshield of the Navetta 64. Consisting of a single element that completely covers the entire width of the salon, this windshield has been curved to ensure maximum safety, avoid misleading reflections, and never hinder the view.

Motoryacht and comfort

Absolute technology and innovation are based on know-how and a design that are recognizable in all our motoryachts. These choices go hand in hand with comfort. Think, for instance, to the ergonomic air conditioning systems or to the cutting-edge audio and video entertainment systems. Thanks to these solutions you will be able to have fun in the salon and enjoy yourself in the privacy of your cabin.

Our  know-how  and  attention to detail  characterizes also the engine rooms, designed to enhance practicality, maintenance, and control. Equipped with high-level features and extremely technological, the engine rooms of our boats benefit from double insulation instead of a single one. This is another achievement of the collaboration between Absolute Yachts’ designers and architects.

Extreme livability and luxury boats: comfortable and innovative, technological and spacious. Welcome to Absolute’s “comfortable luxury.”

Make your yachting experience absolute : this has always been the ambitious goal behind the construction of each of our yachts. our construction process hinges on our shipyard’s vision  and manages to make your navigation experience truly absolute..

Absolute Yachts  produces luxury boats that are devised, designed, and built entirely within its shipyard. Therefore, its engineers and artisans can express a high degree of responsiveness and efficiency. These characteristics are the basis of the renowned qualities of Absolute’s boats:  innovation , attention to detail, practicality, firmness, and reliability. At Absolute, these elements are developed having in mind the shipowners, their life on board, and the essential balance between luxury, comfort, and maximum functionality.

Luxury but comfortable

Making possible what we have devised is at the heart of our philosophy. When dealing with an unprecedented, arduous challenge, we know how to find surprising solutions.

Our mission, which has gained  international recognition and awards , is about offering boats capable of expressing an increasingly high level of comfortable luxury. This is a stimulus for the whole market and for our own shipyard as it sets every time a new ambitious challenge.

Such a high level of innovation influences forms and design, raw materials and their processing, as well as the concept of  luxury  itself, which aboard an Absolute’s yacht is exceptionally cozy.

This is how the most refined and authentic Italian style finds an  optimal balance  with the concept of livability. The rooms and the construction elements are not selected and designed just for the sake of it. Everything has a functional purpose for the shipowner without ever giving up on the elegance that a luxury yacht should express.

Therefore, our shipyard is a fertile ground for extraordinary innovations, such as the original  ISS System  that aboard our yachts allows an incredible view through large windows without pillars. The 360-degree panorama will make you feel surrounded by nature, still offering complete privacy.

The open-minded engineering and harmonious design that inspire our works set no limits and offer features normally present on bigger luxury boats. On all our models, for instance, the side door next to the steering position offers the perfect access to the bridge from the driving helm, and vice versa. Another example is the presence of an actual  Beach Club  aboard the  Navetta 64  or even the shipowners’ quarters and guest cabins with their extraordinary size and height, all elegantly refined.

Luxury boats: when comfort enhances freedom

We offer comfort and livability on board of our luxury boats not only when at anchor, but also during navigation. Moreover, their full maneuverability and a high level of safety, for both the shipowner and their guests, fear no rivals.

Our driving helms are ergonomic and modern, with all the equipment you need to navigate in total autonomy. For example, their electrical panels, close to the driver’s seat, can be easily inspected. Furthermore, their large windshield ensures maximum visibility during navigation.

Our technologies  are designed and realized in collaboration with our partners. Leading companies in the luxury-boat industry find in Absolute the ideal partner for the development of their pioneering innovations.

Luxury as safety and comfort

One of the most important aspects of navigation is safety for the shipowner and their guests. Aboard on Absolute’s yacht, guests can move easily from the stern to the bow using wide walkways and ergonomic handrails, placed at the perfect height. Moreover, they can relax on the flybridge and sunbathe alongside the captain, since the piloting area is equipped with comfortable sofas.

In addition, each room has furniture with rounded corners. At the same time, electrical panels, engine rooms, and technical areas have been developed with the utmost accuracy, guaranteeing Absolute control of the yacht.

Luxury and comfort, fine materials and functionality, design and wide spaces: here is why Absolute’s Italian boats play the starring role on the world stage

When it comes to Italy, three concepts immediately come to mind: quality, style, and creativity. After all, these elements have contributed to the creation of the Made in Italy myth : a virtuous balance between competence, imagination, and artistry.

This also applies to the nautical sector where Italian boats have always occupied top-ranking positions in terms of  reliability ,  design , and  luxury .

Made in Italy in the boating industry: the role of Italian boats

On the one hand, the boating world is usually associated with lightheartedness and exclusive sea vacations. On the other, it is hard to realize how much work lies behind the realization of a luxury yacht, how much effort is put in defining the  concept , and how much time is needed for the design phases.

Absolute Yachts  devotes time and attention to all the construction phases, being aware of the responsibility that manufacturing Italian boats  implies: keeping up the Made in Italy name.

In this sector, our country has always proved its talent by creating iconic models, leading the market in its evolution, and setting high standards. The results achieved have increased Italy’s worldwide prestige and reliability.

Absolute’s vision? No compromise!

In the complex yet beautiful world of recreational boating, Absolute Yachts has been carving out a  leading role  since its inception.

In our opinion, it is not enough to design and build boats that express only one of the different navigation aspects, such as exclusivity. We decided to build boats able to combine luxury and comfort, quality materials and practicality, as well as high-level design and highly enjoyable spaces.

A real revolution for Italian boats, which used to offer these features separately, each one on a distinct model.

Absolute Yachts’ vision  consists precisely in creating space for everything in every model of the shipyard. We aim at  avoiding compromises : everything must be balanced so that the owner can enjoy an all-around yacht.

Numbers speak for themselves: Absolute’s Italian boats are a symbol of success

It is a well-known fact that one of the parameters used to attest the success of a company is its  financial soundness . Opposed to recklessness, the careful planning of investments – often associated with creativity, foresight, and the desire to innovate – is the winning move and distinguishes those who solely achieve short-term gains and those who constantly ride the wave.

We are proud of the results achieved. Moreover, our success has been recognized by numerous independent and renowned institutions that look closely at the trend of the market and the strategies of the most important companies worldwide.

In 2018, the London Stock Exchange Group – a company that controls both the London and the Italian Stock Exchange – included Absolute Yachts among  “1,000 Companies to Inspire Europe.”  In the same year, we also won the  “Export2Succeed”  award. In addition, we have been recognized among the Italian  “Aziende Champion”  of growth (in several editions of the study conducted by “L’Economia”   del   “Corriere della Sera”), as well as among the 450 companies  “Leader della Crescita”  in the study conducted by the German agency Statista together with “Il Sole 24 Ore”.

There is also a long list of  awards  won by our boats, among which the 50 FLY, 58 FLY, Navetta 58, Navetta 64, 70 STY, and Navetta 73 are all award-winning yachts in both Europe and Asia.

What are the pillars of Absolute Yachts’ success?

First of all: the constant focus on  innovation . Our cutting-edge systems, advanced technologies, and the engineering solutions we have developed allowed us to optimize onboard space and balance comfort, luxury, versatility, and refined materials.

The main outcome is the high quality. This added value comes from a well-defined and ambitious corporate approach that aims at obtaining independence in terms of creativity, design, and production.

This is possible because, at Absolute,  the production cycle  takes place entirely within the shipyard. Our yachts would not be 100% Italian if they were not completely manufactured in Italy, within our factory. In particular, the whole cycle takes place inside the Podenzano shipyard, from the first concept to the unveiling of a new yacht: including construction and quality tests carried out in the pool.

It is thanks to these elements that Absolute Yachts’ brand has become synonymous with generous and open-minded engineering, careful design, continuous innovation in the construction phases, and reliable relationships with the shipowners.

We are willing to go  beyond the limits , and this allowed us to achieve the desired results and support the development of the company in the long run.

This is the reason why in 2021 we have high expectations on the two newcomers:  48 Coupé and 60 FLY . They have been conceived with the usual passion, designed with the same attitude, and realized with the same philosophy.

Therefore, we are sure that they will both enter the successful range of Italian boats and be admired all over the world.

“Generous engineering” is the new paradigm that distinguishes Absolute Yachts’ models and shows them into “open-minded design.” The goal is the creation of a unique and objectively innovative product. It is a pervasive attitude that guides us in realizing and obtaining revolutionary solutions and new opportunities for all Absolute’s shipowners. This results in features that are usually accessible only on much larger models. The key outstanding characteristics of this generous engineering are  driving comfort  and  complete maneuverability  that make our yachts stand out on the market.

Generous engineering and  technology  go hand in hand when one wants to make the yachting experience innovative. Among the others, one example is the  EmpirBus  automation system that allows the integration of all the onboard system parameters within the GPS Chartplotter displays. Noteworthy are also  Raymarine’s  Augmented Reality and  Volvo Penta’s Dynamic Positioning System  and  Assisted Docking , all capable of enhancing different technologies and platforms whose synergies prove to be convenient supports for both open water navigation and low-speed maneuvering.

Developed by  Volvo Penta , the  Dynamic Positioning System  (DPS) is a unique technology that automatically maintains the direction and position of the boat. When refueling or docking, for instance, it is possible to prepare fenders and ropes without haste, while the boat stands still. Available on all Absolute models, the DPS is controlled by a software that integrates with   Volvo Penta’s  EVC electronic platform and operates thanks to the coordination between the GPS and IPS system.

In 2021, the launch of the  Assisted Docking , the latest novelty from  Volvo Penta , will represent an additional tool for the shipowner to facilitate mooring operations in all conditions.

The visibility of the  steering positions  on the main deck is certainly among the most appreciated features aboard any Absolute yachts. Thanks to the minimization of pillars in the windshield, which in some cases even completely disappear, the driving helm offers the best steering visibility in all conditions. From the main deck of our boats, the view is uninterrupted thanks to a windshield consisting of a unique element, curved to avoid reflections. Such a panoramic view is even more enjoyable from the ergonomic steering position and can be entirely appreciated both standing and sitting.

Designed to benefit the Absolute’s captains, numerous practical details characterize our boats’  dashboards : built-in air conditioning vents, adjustable and enveloping driving seats with comfortable footrests, and lights that improve visibility when navigating at night. Visibility and comfort are guaranteed also on the fly, thanks to special structural elements that protect the captain in any weather condition.

On all our models, a side door is designed next to the steering position on the main deck. This precious element, elegantly concealed in the glass windows, is extremely functional for boat  maneuverability  and represents an ideal solution to easily access the walkway. Thanks to the compactness of its pantograph design—which favors both the passage to the bow and the stern—communication with the crew and personnel on the dock is facilitated, allowing for fast and smooth maneuvering and mooring operations.

In case the shipowner chooses to steer an Absolute boat in total autonomy, the shipyard has implemented additional tools in support, such as the installation of additional  mooring stations  located in strategic points of the boat. At the bow, additional space is dedicated to  docking . Perfectly integrated with the wide sunbathing area, it is designed to simplify all mooring operations.

Particular attention is paid to the procedures of  boarding and disembarkation of both the crew and guest passengers. For instance, the side access doors are integrated into the pulpit or gunwale, just like on mega yachts, and the swim platforms have retractable ladders for easy access to the water, in any circumstances.

All these elements are part of Absolute’s generous engineering and at the service of our shipowners. The intense research carried out within our shipyard has developed innovative nautical solutions that promote safety, comfort, and practicality. At this point, our goal should be clear: making your yachting experience Absolute.

The Evolution of The Absolute Shipyard.

Absolute Yachts approaches the start of boating season creating high expectations for the Generation 2022 new models.   A very optimistic opening awaits our shipyard thanks to the launch of a brand new range, as well as two exciting new   models.

The first revolution will take place with the arrival of the 60 FLY, a completely new model called “The Absolute Prisma”.  A yacht that will redefine the range with new ground-breaking design elements never seen on a Flybridge boat of these  dimensions, such as the Owner’s quarter at the bow and the aft cockpit terrace , free from any fixed furniture  elements. As the prism reveals the several colors through the light, the 60 FLY by Absolute is the prisma revealing an  overturning of perspectives, an evolution for the range and for the owner, too. With the new 60 FLY, a versatile life on  board and liveability of the spaces are now ensured.

A new perspective is offered by the bow master cabin – thanks to the Owner’s quarter concept: a cabin which takes up the full beam of the boat, unprecedented on a 60/70-foot yacht. The cabin is raised from the lower deck, the ceiling is high, and the array of textures and colors chosen for the interior design will satisfy even the most refined tastes. The atmosphere is sophisticated and relaxed, dedicated to the owner’s comfort and privacy: the walk-in wardrobe, the vanity with a sea view, and the wide side windows to feel fully immersed in nature complete the ambience.

The exterior lines are now enriched by elegant transparencies, thanks to the glazed balustrades that offer breath-taking views from both the fly and the cockpit: the latter, thought without fixed elements, can be furnished at the owner’s taste for the first time.

From the aft cockpit there are two comfortable staircases, ideal to reach the wide platform to enjoy a terrace just above  the sea; the ample dimensions of the platform offer a comfortable entrance to the crew cabin, through the pantograph door concealed in the transom.

On the upper deck, the Fly area offers a second open-air salon totally immersed in the surrounding landscape, whose generous dimensions are just waiting to be lived: al-fresco galley and dining area, lounge space, high-tech helm station are framed by elegant design lines, color contrasts and refined finishes.

Even the bow area is designed for maximum versatility of use thanks to a comfortable sofa with table, a sunbathing area, and music: social boating and privacy, all in one, day and night.

The Absolute 60 FLY boasts the latest generation technology, featured in modern and ultra-accessorized dashboards,  with clear instrumentation always at your fingertips. Both helm stations on the main deck and flybridge have double  piloting seats, ergonomic and modern. From the main deck dashboard, a very wide windscreen, with minimized and  rounded side support pillars, guarantees an unobstructed view of the horizon. Even on the flybridge, a safe navigation  topped with conviviality is ensured, thanks to the sofa and sundeck placed next to the helm, allowing the captain to  drive with company. A third mooring station is also available at the stern, which can be integrated in a dedicated cabinet  in the cockpit on starboard side, equipped with joystick, bow thruster control and engines ignition panel.

Great care for the furniture as well: on board the Absolute 60 FLY modular furniture can be adapted to the actual use. The areas are dedicated to the social moments with family and friends, to enjoy panoramas in complete freedom: various configurations are available for the owner to choose from, in order to fully enjoy the on-board life as desired. The green attitude of the shipyard proves itself thanks to the opportunity of integrating the solar panels into the hard top to ensure a lower environmental impact. Moored at anchor, the owner can enjoy the silence completely immersed in nature, by using solar energy to operate the essential services on board, without the continuous use of generators. The safety standards fear no competition even with larger models, and the spaces usability is top-notch both for the storage and for maintenance and spaces inspections activities.

The rendezvous with the international press is planned for June at Marina di Varazze (Savona, Italy). It will be a preview  of the new Absolute 60 FLY, a first boating experience reserved to the press. The official presentation to the public will  take place during Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2021, where Absolute will also introduce the first model of  the new upcoming range, the Absolute 48 Coupé.

For the third consecutive year, Absolute Yachts is listed in the special leaderboard “ Leader della Crescita 2021 ”, drawn up by Il Sole24Ore and the German agency Statista: such list includes the 450 Italian companies that, in the three-year period 2016/2019, have recorded the highest growth rates in their turnover.

The shipyard based in Podenzano, in the province of Piacenza, records an annual growth rate of 16.81%, with a turnover, expressed in euros, that rose from 45,081,000 in 2016 to 71,862,000 in 2019.

The only shipyard in the prestigious ranking, Absolute Yachts gains the 13th place in terms of annual turnover 2019 and specifically the second place in the Industrial Products category.

This is an important result, achieved in a very immediate past, and the outcome of very precise strategic choices, aimed at constant innovation and continuous investment in the territory. A recognition that contributes to strengthening a position as an autonomous and independent company, not only from a design and construction point of view, but also in structural terms.

“Ours is a solid, concrete and reliable structure, and it is proving so even in a period of uncertainty and instability. We have many projects in launch phase, as many in the pipeline and we are sure that our proactive attitude will be the premise not only for further developments, but also for as many satisfactions, such as the one of today”.  (Angelo Gobbi – President of Absolute Spa)

On Thursday, November 19th, the Best of Boats Award 2020 award ceremony took place in Berlin, with the nominated yachts and shipyards.

Initiated in 2014, this is the only award in the motorboating world that aims at identifying the best yachts of the year based on fivecategories for differentuse: best for beginners, for family, for fun, for fishing, and for travel. Precisely in this last category, Absolute Navetta 64—The Absolute Pathfinder—has won the award in the “Best for Travel” category.

According to a jury of nautical journalists with great experience and passion for testing: “It’s one of the biggest 60-footer ever seen. Actually it has 64’5”, so the space on board is enormous, open and bright. Adding to the incredible master cabin the new Navetta has a beach club on the aft. It’s something special.”

The 18 international journalists of the jury, all coming from various publishing houses, were looking for the best novelties in terms of motorboating in Europe and announced the winners in the different categories among the 21 official finalists.

“It is always thrilling to be nominated for such an award and, above all, win it!” stated Cesare Mastroianni, Absolute VP Sales & CCO, in streaming from the shipyard’s headquarters in Piacenza, Italy. “The concept behind the Navetta’s line was born a few years ago: we wanted our boats to give the owner the possibility to travel anywhere without ever feeling far from home. We called this particular project ‘The Absolute Pathfinder’ because aboard the Navetta 64 you can really travel anywhere you want, without space limits.”

The 61st edition of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show has ended successfully, with over 500 boats on display. In spite of the numerous restrictions on continental travels, the number of visitors has not failed to meet expectations.

Despite the cancellation of the SuperYacht Village, the event was a triumph, also thanks to the prestigious Italian brands present. Among these, Absolute Yachts’ boats in the Face Dock #2, have registered a significant number of visits aboard the Navetta 52 , the Navetta 58 , and the 47 FLY . As always, precious was the technical support and the passion of our dealers Grande Yachts, JBYS, SeaNet, and Staten Island.

On October 23rd Absolute had the pleasure to host an online Press Conference addressing the worldwide trade press, speaking about the features of the 2022 generation along with an in-depht presentation of the two new current models. Navetta 64 and the 50 FLY has been presented in all their beauty and functionality.

Amongst the current models, Absolute introduced the new 60-feet Fly model and officially welcomed a new range of yachts with the 48 Coupé .

The 60 FLY project embodies the highest level of engineering of the Absolute house, both in terms of structure and technology, thanks to the great passion and innovative impulse usually characterizing new projects. The main feature of this vessel is the high level of versatility in defining the various possible configurations, both inside and outside, obtained by combining two different layouts for the cockpit and three layouts for the living. The new 60 Fly preview and the press sea trials are scheduled for the next summer, while the official launch is scheduled for the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2021.

Absolute 48 Coupé inaugurates a complete new range for the Absolute line of boat, which on one hand inherits the very best of Made in Italy as well as all the other models, and on the other hand it strengthens even more the green attitude that has always characterized the shipyard in Podenzano. The main novelties aim at inspiring a new concept of life aboard, with solutions to reduce the energy consumption and stimulating new levels of comfort and liveability. Propulsion will be entrusted to two Volvo Penta IPS engines. With regards to the 48 Coupé, Absolute Yachts will be proud to share more details with the press during the Boot Düsseldorf in January 2021 and to present it live to the public at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2021.

Sometimes we wonder if the real success is the one that makes you clap or the one that makes your heart beat. When talking about passion, well, the ambition could be to get both results.

Thus, after having successfully overcame the initial confrontation with dealers, media and the first shipowners on board, the new Navetta 64 has been awarded with a first important official acknowledgment, received during the 19 th  edition of World Yachts Trophies, as “Best Innovation Model” among 64’ and 80’.

Patrizia Gobbi – Absolute Yachts’ General Manager – was present on behalf of the whole Absolute team to receive the accolade, during the Gala Dinner which took place Saturday September 12th in the beach in front of Cartlon International, in the bay of Cannes, with more than 60 yachts finalists.

Here’s the motivation of the jury, including journalists, historians and experts of the nautical world:

“The Navetta range developed by the Italian manufacturer Absolute has been enriched by a new model with totally new features such as a beach club on the platform that allows you to enjoy a very nice living space near the water. To ensure that this place is perfectly watertight, Absolute has developed an automatic inflatable seal system as soon as the doors are closed. Three beautiful cabins plus once for the sailor share the lower deck, benefiting from a very nice outside view thanks to the presence of numerous glass surfaces. Another particularly interesting feature is that the main part of the fly can be completely closed.”

“We are very proud of this award, it is an acknowledgment that rewards the innate dedication of the shipyard when talking about innovation, research and development of new solutions. These are the contributions that we consider essential in order to ensure to the Made in Italy manufacturing production the deserved leadership role” (Patrizia Gobbi).

Success, beyond the most ambitious goals

With an excellent balance between size and functionality , as well as a large availability of room devised to foster comfort , Absolute 50 FLY – the Absolute Achievement – captures the essence of our ambition: offering amazing size, maximum comfort, and absolute livability. This dynamic and innovative yacht is decidedly captivating in the shapes, combinations of colors, materials, and finishing touches .

The lines of the exteriors highlight the wide uninterrupted windows —obtained thanks to the reduction of the typical

“sword”—and the windows of the cabins below deck, which are similarly without pillars.

Relaxation outdoors is assured by a comfortable and versatile aft cockpit , which can be directly connected to the galley, where the sofa easily turns into a sun lounger. The Fly area, among the largest in the range, offers a table surrounded by a sofa, a full kitchen area, and a double steering position with another comfortable sun lounger.

The third sunbathing area is located at the bow, easily accessible through a pleasant and well-protected walkway.

Spaces engineering: design in motion

The design and the new lines of chromatic contrast characterize the interiors of the main deck that appear to be bright and finely furnished. On the left side of the entrance, the galley is equipped with practical worktops in fine materials that can be separated from the rest of the living room thanks to elegant electric sliding glass. The furniture in front of this area has been redesigned to offer new stowage spaces and comfortable support surfaces. Furthermore, large sofas, furnishings, new air conditioning systems , and the entertainment area contribute to making the onboard experience truly immersive.

The steering position, ergonomic and well equipped, has a side door , which turns to be particularly helpful when maneuvering, and an switchboard for immediate access .

Elegance and exclusivity for an Absolute navigation experience

Located in the center of the boat, on the lower deck, the full-beam master cabin is very spacious, refined with elegant color combinations, and equipped with roomy cabinets and many stowage spaces. It offers an incredible view of the sea thanks to two side windows without pillars . The en-suite head is enriched with new coating materials and raw materials of great value.

The VIP cabin also covers the whole width of the boat. It is comfortable and bright and its ensuite head has double access both from the inside and from the hallway. Finally, the third guest cabin has two berths and a walk-in closet, and the aft crew cabin can be easily used for extra guests.
