  1. S2 9.2

The 9.2 stands for 9.2 meters, as with the company's other boats (7.3, 7.9, 10.3, etc.). S2 stuck with the classification for a long time, only advertising the 9.2 as the S2 30 after it had been in production for years (not to be confused with the later S2 30 designed by Graham & Schlageter). The boat overall is 29′ 11″, the most common ...

  2. S2 11.0

According to the BUC Used Boat Price Guide, a 1981 model S2 11.0 (in both center- and aft-cockpit versions) has a retail value range today between $48,000 and $52,000 (Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region). There's a good deal of information on S2 boats on the Web.

  3. S2 9.2 Boat Review

Sailing the S2 9.2 is a treat. In 15 to 17 knots, it heels sharply under the mainsail and 150-percent genoa before settling in to make 5 or 6 knots upwind. Weather helm is noticeable in stronger gusts, but the boat is generally well balanced and always manageable, even in lumpy seas. All in all, the S2 9.2 is a well-designed, tough, and able 30 ...

  4. S2 7.9

The 7.9 was a pricey boat for her size. Equipped with sail handling gear, four sails (main, jib, genoa, and spinnaker), outboard motor, speedo, and compass, her 1985 price was about $27,000. For comparison, a comparably equipped J/24 of the time would run you around $21,000, an Olson 25 about $22,000.

  5. Used Boat Review: The S-2 9.2A/C

The boat was built in two configurations, from 1977 to 1987. The 9.2C was a center-cockpit version, and the last one built was hull number 427. The 9.2A was the aft-cockpit version, and the last one built was hull number 520. The 9.2 was designed by Arthur Edmunds, who was S2's "in-house" designer. Beginning in 1981, S2 built a number of ...

  7. S2 9.2 Used Boat Review

A recent comparison of published values of the S2 9.2, Catalina 30 and Sabre 30 show the S2 solidly in the middle. When the same model years were compared, the mean value of the S2 averaged 20% greater than the Catalina 30 and 25% less than the Sabre 30. The S2 9.2 offers solid construction, contemporary styling, acceptable performance and good ...

  8. Classic Plastic: S2 8.6 Sailboat Review

The sailboats are recognized for their performance, distinctive styling, and quality craftsmanship, and during its short history, S2 Yachts produced several sailboats that are still admired. The 8.6 was introduced in 1983 and built until 1987. Naval architect Arthur Edmonds, whose best-known production sailboat is the Allied Princess 36, is ...

  9. S2 9.2 A

Notes. The S2 9.2A was the aft cockpit version. Also offered was the S2 9.2C, (center cockpit). First boats came with Atomic 4 gas engine as standard equipment. Beginning in 1979, Yanmar or Volvo diesels were standard. Shoal draft: 3.92'/1.19m.

  10. Practical Sailor Magazine S2 9.2 Boat Review

In contrast, the 9.2s racing-oriented sister, the S2 9.1, a 30-footer, rates 50 seconds per mile faste at 140. The important thing is that both boats will sail to their numbers. The boat is easy to sail, with a balanced sail plan. The running rigging, deck hardware and overall deck layout are convenient and functional.

  11. S2 9.2C Thoughts

In reviewing the vast array of different sailboats, the S2 9.2C or 11C has caught my attention, primarily because of the cabin layout. The 9.2C (30') has probably the most liveable space of any 30' boat I have researched. Question I have is what are the general thoughts concerning S2 boats, and also center cocikpits in general.

Boat Reviews › S2 7.9 Used Boat Review; S2 7.9 Used Boat Review. Posted April 5, 2017. s2_7.9.jpg. Although quite tame by today's "sport boat" standards, the S-2 7.9 was designed as a high-performance model intended to compete, in the marketplace at least, with other boats of its era such as the J-24, Olson 25, and Evelyn 26. Like her ...

So he built a new plant which was, at the time, a model for production-line efficiency and strict quality control. In the late 1970s, S2 did start building powerboats again, and soon established its Tiara line. Slikkers was later able to buy back his old powerboat line, Slickercraft. Production of sailboats ended in 1989.

  14. S2 27'

Boat: (Cruiser Living On Dirt) Posts: 50,415. Images: 241. "S2" marketed the 27 footer (26'-7" LOA) as a "Performance Cruiser", of which they built 85 examples from 1985 to 1987, when Sailboat production was ended. All S2 cruising sailboats, including the 27', featured a solid fiberglass hull, and a balsa cored deck.

  15. S2 8.5 Meter

The S2 8.5 is a 28-footer cast in the company's traditional mold. Her hull dimensions, sail area, displacement, and general design characteristics put her square in the middle of the modern 28-footers such as the Tanzer 8.5, Newport 28, O'Day 28, and the Pearson 28. The boat's styling is conventionally modern.

  17. S2 Yachts (USA)

S2 Yachts (USA) The company, located in Holland, Michigan, USA, was founded by boating industry legend, Leon Slikkers, after he had sold his powerboat company, Slickcraft. As part of the sales agreement, he was precluded from the powerboat market for a number of years. There were no restrictions on sailboat building.

  18. S2 27

Anacortes, WA. Nov 3, 2020. #4. Like the S2 7.9, it was designed by Graham & Schlageter for S2 Yachts. The 27 was an entirely new design. The S2 27 has a lot of MORC and 7.9 influence in her hull lines, but with a more freeboard and cruiser intended interior and deck layout. The S2 27 was introduced towards the end of sailboat production at ...

  19. Opinions on an S2 8.0b

Re headroom - i am 5'8" - and head room was not an issue. $7.9K seems a little high - but then again its the asking price so you can get 10-20% off that. Hello S2ers! There's a reposessed 8.0b at my marina that's been listed for over a year now. The price seems decent ($7,900) and she looks to be in decent shape.

  20. S2 6.9

Notes. S2 6.9 GRAND SLAM. The same hull as the S2 6.7 (designed by S2 in-house designer Don Wennersten), with changes to the cabin, cockpit, and sailplan overseen by G&S. (Thanks to Bob Proctor for providing updated information on this yacht.)

  21. S2 8.5 Review in Practical Sailor

S2 8.5 Meter. The 8.5 is good for cruising the coasts in comfort and style--as long as you like the modern look. When Leon Slikkers founded S2 Yachts in 1973, much of the attention to detail that had previously characterized Slickcraft powerboats—Slikkers' earlier boatbuilding venture— traveled with him to the new boatbuilding company.
