Electric Discharge Pump: Sealand T24 discharge pump 24 volt with auto/manual switching. Pump inlet to draw within 1″ (2.5 cm) of the absolute bottom of the tank. Pump to discharge overboard through anti siphon loop
Level Switch: ULTRA Junior pump switch (float type) Model WPS-02-24/32, 24 volt to auto start and stop the gray water pump in the AUTO mode. In AUTO mode, switch to start pump at 2-1/2″ (6.4 cm) depth and stop pump at 1″ (2.5 cm) depth

Oil Change System

A.C. Electrical System: Vessel is fitted with two (2) 240 volt AC. House shore power is fed through a 12KVA isolation transformer. Current is distributed through custom PAE electrical panels containing 240 volt AC and 120 volt AC sections, volt and amp meters and individual breakers for functions
Two (2) Outback # VFX3524 3.5 kW 24 volt battery charger/inverters with remote control panels. Inverters are installed in a “series/stack” configuration enabling the vessel to have 120 volt AC and 240 volt AC inverted power. Electrical panel is fitted with an inverter bypass switch in the event of failure

Two (2) Glendinning shore power cord retrieval systems with barrels located in the transom. One (1) each for the 240 volt house shore power and air conditioning shore power. Each system to be provided with 85′ (25.9 m) of useable shore power cable from the transom

24 volt DC house battery bank – consists of twelve (12) 8D, 12 volt “Lifeline” AGM @ 255 Ah each. Two (2) groups of six (6) batteries each are connected in parallel. The two groups are connected in series to provide a total battery bank rating of 1,530 amps at 24 volt. Includes Link 10 battery monitor
12 volt DC power is supplied to the pilot house distribution panel by one (1) Group 31 “Lifeline” AGM @ 105 Ah battery. A Xantrex 12 volt DC 20 amp three bank output battery charger charges the batteries through the inverter
Main engine starting – two (2) 4D “Lifeline” AGM @ 255 Ah each connected in series for 24 volt starting. Switching logic to parallel with 24 volt house bank for emergency starting
Generator starting – two (2) Group 31 “Lifeline” AGM @ 105 Ah each connected in series for 24 volt starting. Switching logic to parallel with 24 volt house bank for emergency starting

24 volt battery charging is provided in the following ways:
Outback inverter/chargers provide a total of 170 DC charging amps at 24 volts
One (1) “Skylla” 100 amp charger – TG 24/100 (1+1), part number SDTG2401003. This charger is a back up to the inverter/charger and serves as a battery charger when the vessel is in a 50 Hz environment
Main engine starting battery bank is charged from the house bank thru a diode isolator
Onan 27.5 kW generator has its own 20 amp 24 volt alternator which charges its starting battery
Wing engine has its own 100 amp 24 volt alternator which charges its starting battery
Battery cable: to be sized per electrical drawing and color-coded per PAE drawing
When possible wiring to be color coded per ABYC standards
All wiring to be “tinned” copper

For those of you that have them, is there real value for a Portuguese Bridge on a 50' or under trawler? Storage is nice, but do you take solid water over the bow significantly? Are there other pluses I'm missing?
Sitting on the bow is my favourite place while cruising, so I would love to have one. Most that I have seen are open at the aft end so are self draining. If designed properly they would reduce the risk of a big wave taking out the pilothouse windows. On the right boat they look good, but they don't suit every boat.

The big plus for us is passengers and crew or protected be hind the bridge. We canvas enclosed between the bridge and pilot house roof which makes the area dry and protect area like the stern deck. There is a teak seat in front of the pilot house Windows. The Roughwater 58 was designed but Ed Monk to be a Pacific coastal cruiser so with that in mind a bridge would be an advantage.
The captain of the big seiner we chartered did the docking from the Portuguese bridge. All other activities, including operating the vessel when I set was done from the wheelhouse. Jim Sent from my iPad using Trawler Forum
I've always liked the sort of boat that has a portugese bridge. I think they look really good forward of a pilothouse with wannabe windows. I suspect that the vast majority of boats have them for aesthetic, rather than practical purposes, but that's just an assumption.

I am very fond of bow seating of which most on trawler size boats are Portuguese bridges. It just expands the usable outdoor space and gives another separate area. It especially comes in handy when you find yourself docking stern-in.
I can't speak to having a Portugese bridge on a boat under 50' as we are 58', ebut I love ours. WE have a control station at the front starboard which helps greatly in a lot of docking situations. We have been in water rugh enough to have the bridge serve its original purpose and with a bit of luck we never will be. But there is a bit of a safety feature to us. We are an asymmetrical saloon, so our walk around is only on the starboard side. But, you can walk from the cockpit all the way around to the door on the port side of the pilothouse and be behind a high, solid bulwark the entire time. With the front deck access doors closed, it is fully enclosed, so the dog cannot escape and go overboard and neither can any kids. And it does provide some additional storage as well as the two seating benches, with storage beneath, on the bow.
I have always like them. It gave you another area on the boat to look out over the water. May not be practical, but they sure do look nice. We don't have one. When we were shopping any boat that had a wood (teak) walkway was a disqualifier for us.

Since the question was limited to 50' and under, I held off on responding, but our PB is almost as popular as the galley. I wish I had pics. With wing stations on both sides, all docking and close quarters maneuvering is done from there.

Great social area Not sure how efficient mine is, does stop a lot of seas. We had over 25-30kts in 6-8ft seas in the spring on the way to the BVI's. Not Bad seas or weather but the wave frequency did mean we dipped our bow occasionally, not bad at all, but it does what it supposed to do and stops seas rolling down the side decks. On another point it does seem to be a great collection point for the humans on board when on passage, where they can lean on the caprail and watch the world go by.
I think it's a great feature. The best treatment I've seen for a Portuguese bridge is deFever's. Whether in its earlier form used by American Marine on some of its Alaskan series of wood boats, on deFever's built under that name by various yards over the years, or on the Flemings that Tony Fleming "derived" from the Alaskans, I think deFever did a better job of incorporating the PB than anyone else.
They are a great vantage point for guests, it enables them to be forward and safe. From my perspective I also really like the storage. Good for anything volatile as the storage is not connected to the boat interior, and is vented at deck level as well.

My takeaway is that folks like them for seating and additional, semi-protected outside space - but that for most folks they don't serve the purpose of deflecting solid water that comes over the bow. ..makes sense. Can't believe that being in conditions where a Nordy (for example) is taking solid water would be a lot of fun, regardless of the ability of the boat to handle it safely.
The increasing popularity of power catamarans means more boaters are discovering the brand Horizon Power Catamarans, which has been building for this market for 37 years. Its latest model, the PC68 , blends sea-kindly performance with a high level of luxury in a strong build.
Horizon Power Catamarans has done a lot to optimize the space that this yacht’s 24-foot-6-inch beam affords. The sheer size felt impressive when I boarded from either hull platform (they flank a high-low hydraulic platform) or via the side gates. The cockpit has a 9-foot-long high-gloss wood table that seats eight guests, with real estate to move around unimpeded. The wet bar here has a Corian countertop, a fridge and an ice maker. There is still plenty of room to get to the curved staircase to port, providing access with grab rails to the flybridge.
The salon is through a 6-foot-wide glass door with a stainless-steel frame. Inside is an average of 7-foot headroom, which feels like walking into an upscale club. To port is a sofa, accented by a custom wood-and-metal coffee table. Across from there is the low-profile, open galley with three stools at a center island for informal dining. The galley has Miele appliances, including a four-burner cooktop, a convection oven and a fridge, along with a dishwasher and a cooling drawer by Fisher & Paykel. Corian countertops wrap around the island for added panache.
Forward is the primary gathering spot, with a deep, soft, L-shaped sofa. It’s surrounded on three sides by windows. A custom coffee table houses dual ottomans. This area can also be set up as an on-deck master stateroom (see sidebar).
Dismiss the thinking that lower staterooms on a multihull yacht are small and constricted. Horizon Power Catamarans performed some design magic and created four spacious dwellings. In the starboard hull, the master stateroom has a private entrance with a walkaround king-size berth athwartships in the peak, giving the owner an exterior view via a frameless hullside window. The master’s en suite head has his-and-hers sinks and a shower stall. A vanity, cabinets and cedar-lined, full-height closets are included.
The en suite VIP stateroom in the port hull has a queen-size berth. Two additional en suite staterooms, each with twin berths, are in either hull.
Sizable entertaining space is on the flybridge. Most of this deck is open for rest and relaxation, with the helm to port. Twin Stidd helm seats allow for a companion to assist in navigation or take in the views underway. Three 22-inch Garmin multifunction displays show navigation data, camera feeds, engine specs and more, while individual displays for the MAN diesels are neatly laid out in the dash, along with switches, thruster joysticks and throttle controls. Helm air conditioning is via two outlets.
Two windshields are split by a pass-through electric door. Guests can also enjoy the ride from the forward benchseat to starboard. A filler cushion can be used to make this a lounge-pad area.
Abaft the flybridge helm are a tiered bar, three chairs, Corian countertops, cooler drawers, an ice maker and a wet bar. Across from there is a C-shaped settee for several guests with a fold-out wood table. The seating is a touch higher than I expected, but Horizon builds in a raised footrest to ensure folks are comfortable. The height adds to the visibility.
This space also has a sky lounge option with side windows and an after bulkhead, but the versatility of the open bridge with Sea Crylic curtains for the sides and aft provides the best of both worlds.
What is really exciting is the PC68’s Portuguese deck. Through the flybridge forward door are two L-shaped settees with high-low tables. Guests can easily transit from the flybridge without having to walk around the boat’s sides. Also, the tables lower and have fill-in cushions that convert them to sun pads and loungers. A portside staircase leads guests to the foredeck with pulpit seats at the bow. All these areas have railings up to 33 inches high, in stainless steel, for safety.
Aft on the flybridge is room for a 17-foot tender with a 1,750-pound-capacity crane. There’s also room for lounge chairs. A grill station is in one corner, and a day head with a shower is in the other.
“I’m very pleased with the way the 68 came out,” Richard Ford, Horizon Power Catamarans founder and CEO, says with a grin, adding that production will never be mass-scale because the company wants to ensure quality control and resale value. “We don’t build a lot of boats. We don’t want to.”
Quality, he adds, promotes reliability—so much so that he gives each owner his personal cell number. The commitment to quality is also evident everywhere on board the Horizon Power Catamarans 68.
As an option, the standard salon space forward can be ordered as a full-beam master stateroom with wraparound windows, a centerline king berth and an en suite head in the lower port hull. In this layout, the two twin-bunk guest staterooms belowdecks remain, as does the VIP, which is relocated to starboard.
Powered by twin 850 hp MAN i6 diesel engines spinning five-blade Veem props, the PC68 cruises easily at 19.7 knots, burning 52 gallons per hour and offering a range of approximately 644 nautical miles based on the 1,500-gallon fuel capacity. At wide open and 2,400 rpm, this power cat hit 24.8 knots, burning 82 gph with a range of 514 nm. Pull back to 10 knots at 1,200 rpm for a 1,417 nm range at a miserly 12 gph.
Multihull yachts ride differently than monohulls, often counteracting the sea’s motion for a smoother, more stable ride. On the PC68, sharp hull entries make head seas seem gentle, and a Humphree stabilization system with blades reduces roll. Portuguese bridge cushions

Recently, Sand Sea and Air welcomed a 134-foot luxury motor yacht built in 1988 to San Juan, Puerto Rico. It was designed to cruise in lavish comfort and classic elegance. The large exterior deck cushions below the bridge were located in an ideal space for lounging while cruising, yet over time, some cushions had blown away and the new fabric color did not match the existing Navy Sunbrella ® cushions. This article details our approach to replacing the cushions.
A “Portuguese bridge” is a walkway behind the foredeck, in front and to the sides of the pilothouse windows, separated from the foredeck by a (generally) waist-high bulwark. The bridge deflects green water from the foredeck up over the superstructure top rather than slamming against the forward windows of the pilothouse. It gives a semi-sheltered area outside the pilothouse while underway. It also provides a “safe area” during inclement weather. and provides additional storage space.
Step one: Secure individual back and seat cushion combos.
The individual back cushions were designed to attach via a 2-inch Velcro flap band sewn along the length of each of the five mesh bottom back areas of the cushions. This flap was joined to a 2-inch Velcro tape piece on the mesh underneath each of the five seat cushions. This system securely joined each of the five back/seat combinations so they would stay in place.
Step two: Define the final height area for the back cushions.
The original cushions had a poor layout that did not visually align with the lines of the vessel. The back cushions were all fabricated at the same height of 20 inches, which did not look visually pleasing against the hull height variation of almost 3 inches.
Our solution was to design the seat backs to install parallel to the upper lines of the vessel to give an overall visual consistency from the center back cushions toward the port and starboard corners. The top edges of the new navy cushions contrast nicely against the white fiberglass hull.
Step three: Design overall method to secure the cushions.
We chose Costa Track ® for the tops of the back cushions and Velstick ® (a semirigid male Velcro tape) to secure the front edge of the bottom cushions, since the seat front was the area that would receive the most “liftoff” while underway.
Back cushions: We sewed a length of keder welt into the back edge of the upper back band. This would provide a secure contact for the back cushions to the Costa Track, which was installed at an equal distance of 2 ½ inches from the fiberglass edge below the windshield.
Seat cushions: We sewed a 2-inch width of polyester Velcro tape along the front leading edge. We use polyester Velcro tape for marine applications because it withstands the elements much better than nylon tape, even though the cost of polyester tape is almost double the price of nylon.
We installed sections of Velstick (available in 1 by 48 inch lengths) near the front edge of the fiberglass seating. We use male Velstick tape because it withstands the elements better than female Velstick tape. The new cushions will ensure secure and luxurious seating for years to come.

We were in the process of looking for a new 65-70ft cruising yacht that we could keep on the east coast.
On a recent trip to Roche Harbor we met Robert Fiala, who was just closing the display of their new Endurance 658. We expressed an interest to view it and without hesitation he offered to open the boat and let us have a look. It was clear that Robert was very knowledgeable and as we walked through the yacht we became more excited, the Endurance had every feature we were looking for, virtually no compromises.
As we developed more interest, Robert canceled his return flight home and extended his trip to accommodate a sea trial, which shortly lead to a contract and completed sale.
We want to compliment Robert and his HYG team. They are extremely professional, responsive, transparent and honest. They also addressed every detail with speed and efficiency and made buying a yacht easy.
We are thrilled to be the new owner of an Endurance 658 and excited to be part of the Hampton family.

This is my experience with buying and building my Hampton Endurance 658.
The reason I chose a Hampton yacht is because of the quality and performance of the Hampton Endurance. I use my yacht in the Caribbean where the sea is pretty choppy and the Endurance is made for these conditions.
One of the important things for me on my yacht was the the layout and looks. I prefer the more European look and open plan.
After visiting the Yard in Shang Hai with a good friend of mine and working for 3 days with you and Jeff on the looks and layout we managed to work out a good floor plan. The flexibility of the Yard and Jeff’s and your cooperation gave us this result and it came out exactly the way we liked it. My yacht looks very good, open, clean and European.
After almost 2 years of using my yacht in the Caribbean I still love the handling of the Endurance and the comfort she gives us.

This letter serves as a thank you on behalf of the professional services I have received with Hampton Yacht Group and Robert Fiala.
It has been a dream of mine to own a yacht that I could one day call my own. I knew that being able to find a dealership that could accommodate my specific needs and expectations would be a daunting task, and I would be lying if I admitted that I wasn’t nervous when searching for the right one. My wife Emma and I visited quite a few dealerships, but we just were not able to locate one that we both felt comfortable in doing business with. And then we came across Hampton Yacht Group in Seattle, which we had flown into from our home in Miami. We felt comfortable with Seattle’s Hampton Yacht Group from the very beginning; from the warmth & hospitality to the professional knowledge and services.
One individual who stood out for me in particular was Robert Fiala. Mr. Fiala is a stand up man who I felt completely comfortable with in making this deal happen to purchase my new Endurance 658 yacht. As a businessman myself, who has made deals with hundreds of people and personalities, I can recognize when someone upholds a high level of professionalism. From start to finish, I could not ask for a better individual and a more pleasant person to get this deal done with. Mr. Fiala always made himself available to me and was able to make the whole process smoother than I thought ever possible. It is my recommendation that Hampton Yacht Group strive to hold their employees to the utmost highest standard and professionalism, with Mr. Fiala being a prime example of the type of person that makes a business succeed. Continuing to build on professionals like Mr. Fiala within your group is a fantastic way to distinguish yourselves among the competition. It is with my hope that I can continue to have such a good business relationship with HYG.

The Selene 45 is an entirely Next Generation Selene. She is the smallest model of the popular and proven Selene Pilothouse Trawler line. Designed and built like her larger sisters, she is a serious passage-maker , and a superlative coastwise and inland cruiser. The galley on the new Selene 45 can be offset to starboard providing a spacious salon with an L-shaped sofa in genuine leather and a hi-lo table that can be extended to a large dining table, or the center galley is still an option. The raised pilothouse watch settee offers a commanding view for the crew with a fixed table and an optional helm chair can be installed! The Selene 45 is an evolved version of the original Selene 43.
The design features the new Deep Hull design with its Cruiser Stern™ that provides a longer water line and less wake drag, as well as more storage space inside the lazarette. It also adds nearly 12″ of height in the engine room to 66’’, which allows for 200 more gallons (757 l) of fuel! All this is done without increasing the draft, and the LOA is half a foot longer than the first generation Selene 43. Safety is always a priority on all Selene yachts: access to the deck is from the pilothouse port and starboard doors, with sheltered side decks, as well as a Portuguese bridge which keeps the crew safe no matter what the ocean conditions are. On the interior, the next generation design translates to a bigger salon and more comfort and luxury, not to mention a cavernous commissary under the aft end of the salon which can take a huge amount of provisioning, spare parts, dive gear and even a second deep-freezer.
