The primary stipulation of the owner of the 47.30-metre Vava was that he should enjoy the most peaceful long-distance cruising possible. In response, Feadship managed to surpass previous standards of sound-attenuation by building certain of the hull’s structural elements stronger than necessary. Noise transmission was also reduced via vibration breaks in the pipework and the establishment of a sound resistant box around the engine room. Furthermore, void spaces were specially sized to reduce airborne noise, while the entire interior ‘floated’ within the hull, mounted on rubber strips built into the structure.
