Before we get into the list, first let’s talk about some things you need to know before going on a sunset cruise in Key West! From what to wear to when to go, preparing for your sunset cruise will make sure you have the best experience!

How long are Key West sunset cruises?

Most of the sunset cruises in Key West last around 2 hours – some a little less, some a little more. Surpsingly, most of the ones that include dinner last 2 hours as well. More on that later!

Where do Key West sunset cruises leave from?

Almost every single sunset cruise in Key West will leave from the Key West Historic Seaport shown in the map below. This seaport is just outside of historic Old Town, so if you are staying nearby, walking shouldn’t be a problem.

When you book a tour, they will give you an address and meeting point. Most of the tour companies have small booths around the marina where you can check in, and then they will give you more detailed instructions on which boat to get on!

What time do Key West Sunset Cruises Depart?

The answer is… it depends! What time your cruise departs will depend on which tour you choose and what time of the year you are visiting! For example, in the summertime, sunset may not be until 7-8pm, so you can expect the cruises to leave around 6-6:30pm.

However, in the wintertime, the sun sets much earlier, so cruises may leave as early as 4:30pm! You can use this website to check the exact time of sunset on a specific date.

If you’re taking a longer sunset cruise, like this one that also includes snorkeling, you will probably leave even earlier to allow time for the additional activities!

Every sunset cruise is unique in what they offer and how much they cost! For example, some of the cruises include full buffet dinners, which are going to be closer to the $100 per person range. Some cruises offer unlimited alcoholic drinks and no food, while others offer passed appetizers in addition to the drinks! Most of them will also have live music, which is a huge plus!

What should I wear on a sunset cruise?

Sunset cruises in Key West are pretty casual affairs. I’ve seen people in jean shorts and flip flops, but most people dress in resort casual.

For women, remember that it will be windy once you’re out on the water, so I don’t recommend skirts or dresses that can blow up easily! Also, leave the high-heeled shoes at home.. you won’t need them on a boat.

For men, anything from shorts and a t-shirt to jeans and a polo is acceptable. I would expect most men to be in shorts – you are in the Keys after all!

What’s the drinking age in Key West?

The drinking age in Key West is 21 years old. However, that does not mean you have to be 21 to go on a Key West sunset cruise! Almost all of them allow children and minors. Just expect to be carded if you are planning to drink!

It also does not include hard liquor, just champagne, sangria, wine, and beer. However, it has great reviews and you can’t beat the price!

However, you won’t have a full half day in the water on this cruise (like other snorkel trips), since the entire cruise is 3 hours long.

Wind and Wine Sunset Sail with Danger Charters Price : $109 Duration : 2 hours Rating : 5 stars Those looking for something more luxurious for their Key West sunset cruise need to check out Danger Charters. Brian Kirkpatrick has been a professional chef for the past thirty-five years. He has lived in Key West for the last ten years, and formerly worked as a sous chef for the Marquesa Hotel, one of Key West four star hotels.

Chef Brian is also available for catering private parties or weddings. The gourmet meun includes appetizers, a delicious entree, decadent desert, and unlimited beverages. Beverages for the evening include soft drinks, wine, beer, and water.

Departing from the Garrison Bight Marina, your sunset cruise will take you on a unique path away from the rush of boats leaving downtown Key West. This exclusive cruise is a great way to start your night out, celebrate a special occasion, or bring your stay to a close with an easy-going route through the Key West Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico. You’ll look for Key West’s favorite attraction: the Southernmost Point buoy marking the southernmost location in the United States. You’ll also cruise past the Civil War-era Fort Zachary Taylor and the historic navigation point that marks the route to Cuba.

The Seabreeze provides ample bench seating along the deck with more than enough room for all on board. We operate year-round at reduced capacity for a more intimate experience for our guests. You’ll get to know our crew and maybe meet some friendly travelers along the way. We also have a full marine head (bathroom) for your convenience.

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Any trip canceled before 24 hours in advance will be refunded in full. Our captains assess the weather on the day of the scheduled activity. If they determine that the trip will be unsafe, the trip will be postponed or canceled. We will immediately try to reschedule our guests’ activity if possible, but we will issue full refunds if need be.

The food was very very good. The drinks were mixed well and properly. No overpours, drinks were well balanced. The entertainment (unfortunately I do not know the man's name) was the best! He played steel drums and sang reggae. It was amazing. I forgot to view the sunset I was having such a good time. I will use Sunset Watersports my next KW visit!

My husband I booked the sunset dinner cruise to see Key West from the water. We had our option of dining upstairs (outside) or downstairs, and chose downstairs (inside) due to the heat and limited seating upstairs. The buffet dinner was good, and we had our own table. After dinner we went back upstairs and enjoyed the views while listening to a very energetic musician. He kept the crowd entertained and involved, and the drinks kept coming. Highly recommend!!

This was the most fun we had while in Key West. The Dinner Cruise was amazing and romantic. The staff went above and beyond to be hospitable, funny and friendly. We will cherish the memories for a lifetime!!

Staff was professional, well organized, personable and relaxed. Interacted in a "real" sense with passengers, because they wanted to, not expected. Food was very good and service was well organized. The music was a perfect mood setter, not too loud and the singer was personable and a good singer. Got the crowd going but at the right level. Oh, thanks for the perfect sunset. This evening was our best experience at Key West!

We did the Sunset Dinner Cruise. It was a fabulous time! The rum runners were great! We really enjoyed the singer! He was very personable and made the experience memorable! A great entertainer? Absolutely!!! I would HIGHLY recommend this trip to anyone wanting a dinner cruise. We were having way too much fun up top!

There is a small step, however, over the years we have perfected assisting guests with wheelchairs onto our trips. Once on the boat, a wheelchair can easily navigate the lower deck, front and back of the boat to enjoy the dinner buffet and sunset. Our friendly waitstaff will bring you drinks and the live music will flow from the top deck, all throughout the boat.
