The concept

A new racer – a new approach to sailing! With a retractable keel and rudder this 25 racer is holding its own against the best. With an estimated weight of just 850 kg this sportsboat will be easy to transport and can be easily launched and rigged without the use of a crane. In addition, the X-Treme 25 is designed with value for money in mind! The new X-Treme 25 is the ideal combination between a flat-out racer and a fast and easy to sail daysailer.

The design Designed by the renowned Lutra studio in close co-operation with G-Force Yachts, top performance and easy handling were the ultimate goal whilst creating this sportsboat. The boat can be easily trailed and launched and even short-crewed sailing is not a problem. With a symmetrical spinnaker, 105% jib, a furling code 0 on a fixed bowsprit and spectacular specifications this boat is a high performance racer and at the same time an easy and fun daysailer. With a weight of only 850 kg (excluding sails) this sportsboat is easy to handle and does not require a 4×4 vehicle for transportation.

The building process Due to the state-of-the-art specifications only the finest, high-quality materials are used during the building process. The X-Treme 25 is built entirely in a high quality vacuum bagged Epoxy-based sandwich construction.

The performance The X-Treme 25 surfs at speeds over 20 knots. The light hull weight and the powerful sail plan makes this sportsboat extremely fast under all wind speeds and angles. As part of the unique sail plan, the X-Treme 25 has a symmetrical spinnaker, a Code 0 on a fixed bowsprit and a 105% jib which will make easier and faster handling for optimal performance possible under all conditions. Due to it’s outstanding performances the X-Treme 25 is widely considered as the fasted sportsboat on the market.

The deck layout is designed in such a clever and simple way that it is an absolute pleasure to step aboard and cast off. The end-result is a very powerful, super-fast sportsboat which can perform equally in down- and upwind conditions – ideal for inshore, round buoy racing as well as day sailing.

  • Description

Seller's Description

X- Treme 25 was the 2011 Sail Magazine Best Boat winner, used as a demo for one season. Sails rolled and stored in climate control along with running rigging. Twin axle alum. trailer. Main, Jib, Code 0 and Spinnaker

Rig and Sails

Auxilary power, accomodations, calculations.

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Classic hull speed formula:

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

  • SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
  • D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Ballast / Displacement * 100

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.

D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³

  • D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
  • LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.

Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam 1.33 )

  • D: Displacement of the boat in pounds
  • LOA: Length overall in feet
  • Beam: Width of boat at the widest point in feet

Capsize Screening Formula

This formula attempts to indicate whether a given boat might be too wide and light to readily right itself after being overturned in extreme conditions. Read more.

CSV = Beam ÷ ³√(D / 64)

Gennaker: 25 m² The first five boats were raced in the ports where the Volvo Ocean Race had stopovers (2005). The model has become a One Design Class sailing the iShares Cup. Four more boats were built in 2007 and until the season 2009 nineteen boats have been completed and delivered.(2010)

Video: 6 of the best heavy weather sailing videos

  • Harriett Ferris
  • June 18, 2017

Watch our pick of the most dramatic heavy weather videos

extreme 25 sailboat

This first video of heavy weather sailing is our from our Storm Sailing Series with Skip Novak . It was probably the most ambitious project Yachting World has ever undertaken: to head for Cape Horn with high latitudes doyen Skip Novak to make a series on Storm Sailing Techniques . Here is one of our most popular videos, rounding Cape Horn in Storm Force 10 conditions…

Hallberg Rassy are known for being heavy, sturdy, seaworthy boats.  This video shows Hallberg Rassy 48 Elysium in heavy weather off Cape Gris Nez, northern France in 2014. The yacht seems to be handling well, able to use a Raymarine lineair 7000 autopilot depsite the conditions.

This compilation is from the BT Global Challenge round the world race, a crewed race westabout the prevailing winds in one-design steel 72-footers. It took amateur crews upwind through the Southern Ocean from Cape Horn to New Zealand and from Australia to Cape Town. This footage shows some of the weather they experienced and what the crews endured – and watch out for some footage of the race leaders fighting it out under trysail during a severe storm in the Cook Strait in New Zealand.

Single-handed sailor Berthold Hinrichs sailing in Hinlopenstretet. It is the 150km long strait between Spitsbergen and Nordaustlandet in Svalbard, Norway and can be difficult to pass because of pack ice.

A fun compilation video of sailing in strong breeze including 2 wipeouts, 1 dismasting and 1 guy going for a swim…

Our last example comes from popular YouTube channel Sailing SV Delos , as the crew tackle a 50-knot gale on the crossing to Madagascar. Skip to 8:00 for the stormy stuff:

Design No. 268: X-Treme 32 for G–Force Yachts

The latest collaboration between G-Force Yachts and Reichel/Pugh Yacht Design is the fast and fun X-Treme 32 - A high performance design for inshore and offshore racing.

The latest collaboration between G-Force Yachts and Reichel/Pugh Yacht Design is the fast and fun X-Treme 32 - A high performance design for inshore and offshore racing. The briefing to the Reichel/Pugh team was to develop a flat-out racer that delivers the thrill of a high-performance design as well as the ability to capture podium positions.

The X-Treme 32 hull form is honed to deliver performance across a wide wind range. The hull lines minimize wetted surface in low-heel situations but maximize hull form stability when heeled. The maximum beam is carried well aft at the deck to insure crew weight is as far outboard as possible, providing maximum stability and straight heeled waterlines.

extreme 25 sailboat

The deck geometry and hardware layout is optimized for efficient crew work while keeping windage to a minimum. Controls for the main trimmer are led to the cockpit floor centerline, just forward of tiller. Backstay winches are angled inboard to allow the crew to trim the backstay with feet outboard hiking.

The cabin geometry allows for optimized jib trimming at narrow lead angles. The slightly raised companionway houses an oversized hatch to allow for easy movement of sails to and from below decks, and conceals underdeck runs for halyards and controls lines from the mast and foredeck. The foredeck hatch has a soft rounded edge to facilitate smooth takedowns with an integrated line system for dousing spinnakers.

X-Treme 32 construction complies with the CE category A regulations. It is delivered with a 12hp inboard diesel engine and easily removable keel, making delivery around the world by open top container an easy choice.

G-Force Yachts and Reichel/Pugh Yacht Design are widely considered as leading experts in producing and developing high performance sailing yachts, which are true world-beaters in their segment.

The X-Treme 32 builds on the successful collaboration that produced the X-Treme 37.

MAJEK 22 or 25 EXTREME

  • Add to quote

looking for a bigger boat and thinking about an extreme. I have a 18 Kenner and we out grew it so on the hunt for new boat. The hard part is looking to take the family (5 people and lab) to canyon lake one weekend, father and sons trip to the coast (wade fishing and some runs to the rigs) following, and then the guys trip back to the coast. Just wanted to see if folks see big ride diff in the 22 vs 25 and would they get a raised console or not lastly is there another boat recommendation you have. any input would be appreciated

Majek Extreme I have owned both of them. Give me a call and I will answer any questions you may have. My cell number is 361-947-1813 or feel free to message me. Russell

We were looking at a 22 extreme and I have fished many times out of a 25, they are very different performing boats. They are both great but for us we didn't want a 25 footer. We sold our 18vx kenner on 2cool about 4 months ago and ended up at waypoint marine in Rockport leaving with a blazer bay 2220. If you want to stay in the 22 foot range I really think the blazer bay is a better riding boat than the 22 extreme and the guys at waypoint cant be beat. Do your self a favor and stop in and talk to Jared, Eddie, or Josh in Rockport. That being said, make sure you ride in all of the options you are considering see what works best. I love the blazer we ended up with... Take a look at the haynie 23 mag/24 ho too (I think they perform better than the 25 extreme)

extreme 25 sailboat

I had an older 22' extreme and fish almost identical to your situation. We live within 15 mins of Canyon lake and generally when we are not there we are at the coast, Rockport area. Moved out of the extreme to a Stoner Fury and it was the best decision we could have made. Ride, handling, speed and shallow water performance are all better. Adam isn't making them any more but still def worth a look.

any chance since your in the area I could take a look or you could send some pics of the fury

Ive always wondered how the Fury Performed... Ive seen the videos and truthfully for the money it is a better buy than the majek. You can get one fully rigged with a 200 for under 50 which is hard to find in this market (Maybe Impossible). Im glad you are enjoying yours. The Guys at Texas Water Craft and Marine still make them and they look like a well made boat.

For what you want, I would think a liner boat like a Skeeter or Nautical Star with a tunnel would fit the bill nicely. Or maybe a haynie Magnum or HO. I’ve fished a ton out of a 22 majek extreme and 5 guys is tight unless you are wade fishing. Not a very shallow boat either.

extreme 25 sailboat

There is no substitute for size. Fishing 5 with a dog is going to be tight on a 22’ boat regardless of make. I went from a 23’ Haynie to a 25’ Xtreme and the difference in fishing room and ride quality are substantial.

My buddy has a 22 extreme. I have a older (97) 18.6 kenner. We went fishing together one time and tied the boats together and his boat did not seem all that much longer than mine. It is definitely faster with that 250 but I think with four or five people and a dog you would be much better with a 25 foot boat.

extreme 25 sailboat

i run a 22 xtreme. if i were in your position, id go 25 no doubt.

extreme 25 sailboat

Ive had the 22 extreme and the Fury 22 fast rough lack of storage Fury fast smoother has more V new builder of the hull no idea. 25 extreme lots of storage and if has raised console tons of storage.

I’m running a liner Fury with 250SS Suzuki and love it. Handles Trinity Bay chop good and runs fast. Boats 3 yrs old and I’m Looking to build another.

extreme 25 sailboat

I have rode in or have owned the above, Trim tabs on the 22' , it turns into a total different boat. The 25' is a big fishing machine, probably more suitable for your needs.

extreme 25 sailboat

I run a 23 Fury i built last year. I put a 250 pro xs on it, and have been more than pleased. Boat is fast, smooth, and runs pretty skinny considering the hull. If you want more info on the Fury’s talk to mike at Texas Watercraft and marine down in corpus. They are a dealer for coastal custom boats who make the Fury. Their Facebook page has several just built furys you can look at.

extreme 25 sailboat

Have a 22.. With your needs, 25 no doubt. Max people to go with me is 3 people (including myself) and even that can get a little crowded

The sexiest thing about this speed machine is its distinctive hull form. A modest chine runs forward from the transom to the chainplates and the forward

  17. MAJEK 22 or 25 EXTREME

My buddy has a 22 extreme. I have a older (97) 18.6 kenner. We went fishing together one time and tied the boats together and his boat did not seem all that much longer than mine.
