This modern ocean racer RM1260 is winner of the 2013 European Yacht of the Year award (family cruiser) and is launched in May 2014. She is designed to be fast, well balanced and has an excellent performance under sail. She is also very suitable for longer stays on board. Experience elegance and performance with the RM Yachts 1260, a stylish and sleek blue water cruiser designed by the renowned Marc Lombard. Constructed in La Rochelle, France in 2013, this modern vessel boasts a beautiful plywood hull reinforced with external Kevlar coating for robust construction and painted with Awlgrip Desert Sand and Awlgrip Cream, further enhanced with a copper coat in 2017/18 for an extra touch of class. The RM1260 meets the needs of sailors looking for comfort on board and exceptional sailing performance. With hard chines that add to her sporty appeal, she's not just a fast boat, but also incredibly comfortable with spacious, well-lit interiors that are both inviting and accommodating. Perfect for entertaining, the boat features a large cockpit and an interior layout that comfortably houses up to seven berths in three cabins plus a saloon. The forward cabin offers a customised centre line double berth with wooden slated base for optimal ventilation, and there are hanging lockers and shelves on either side. The light and airy saloon enhances the luxurious experience with comfortable settees and the folding saloon table easily seats six. A well-equipped, U-shaped galley with various modern amenities such as double stainless steel sinks with pressurised hot and cold water and a manual seawater tap, a fridge with two compartments, and a two-burner Eno cooker/oven is portside to enhance your culinary experiences on board. A forward facing chart table and seat with an electrical panel are on the starboard side, while a full-size shower cubicle, washbasin and head lie beyond. The technical cabin with a single berth aft of this is to starboard and a good sized double aft cabin lies to port with plenty of light and storage locker. Equipped with a deck shower in the cockpit and sugar scoop transom, you can enjoy refreshing dips without compromising on convenience. The boat is powered by a 2013 Volvo Penta, 40hp engine which has only been used for 322hrs and was last serviced in 2022. With a fractional cutter rig and deck stepped aluminium mast and boom, it offers dynamic sailing performance fitted to perfection with Dynema running rigging, slab reefing mainsail with lazy stack pack and Facnor furlers for the genoa and staysail 2018. The boat is fitted with advanced mechanical and electrical systems including three 100 amp AGM house batteries and a 100 amp engine start battery, a 2 x 100w solar panels in the aft cockpit with plug-in and regulator, and much more. About this RM Yachts 1260

The RM1260 designed by renowned Marc Lombard is a stylish and sleek looking blue water cruiser that will appeal to sailors looking for comfort on board but also excellent sailing performance. Her hard chines only add to her sporty appearance. This is a fast boat. But don’t be deceived, the RM1260 has one of the most comfortable interiors- inviting and accommodating. The large cockpit and spacious layout below are modern and bright and great for entertaining. Hitchcock has been well maintained to the highest standards.

Accommodation

The layout offers up to seven berths in three cabins plus saloon. There is full standing headroom and good ventilation throughout. The forward cabin has a centre line double berth with custom mattress and wooden slated base for good ventilation and hanging lockers and shelves on either side. The saloon is light and spacious with comfortable settees (with lee cloths) on either side of the hull with shelving outboard of this. The folding saloon table can easily seat six. To port, the U-shaped galley has double stainless steel sinks with pressurised hot and cold water and manual seawater tap, fridge with two compartments, two-burner Eno cooker/oven and plenty of storage lockers. The forward facing chart table and seat and electrical panel are on the starboard side. Followed by full-size shower cubicle, washbasin and head. Aft of this to starboard is the ‘technical cabin’ with a single berth. A good sized double aft cabin lies to port with plenty of light and storage lockers. Deck shower in cockpit and sugar scoop transom.

The 2013 Volvo Penta, 40hp engine has only 322hrs and was last serviced 2022. Volvo Penta saildrive drives a three-bladed feathering “ J-prop”.

Construction

"Hitchcock" was built in La Rochelle, France by RM Yachts in 2013. She is the fin keel, twin rudder version. Plywood hull reinforced with external Kevlar coating for a very robust construction. Her hull is painted with Awlgrip Desert Sand and Awlgrip Cream. The hull was copper coated in 2017/18

Registration

Hitchcock has a French registration and there are no outstanding mortgages or encumbrances.

The RM 1260’s hull design is inspired directly by ocean-racing yachts: power and stability are the outstanding features. Note that the obvious bilges in the hull promise rigidity, stability and performance.

The hull was designed to accommodate two design options:

• Bi-keel / mono-rudder to keep the draft to a minimum, with the ability to beach or tie-up at the quayside
• Mono keel / bi-rudder to give maximum performance, with or without a carbon mast
