85m superyacht O’PTASIA delivered from Golden Yachts

Causing a sensation in Greece this week, the 85m/279ft motor yacht O’PTASIA was spotted around the remarkable island of Mykonos following her delivery and entry to the charter fleet.

With excitement for her delivery growing at a healthy rate since her launch back in April, superyacht O’PTASIA has now officially been handed over from the Greek yard to her discerning owner.

Visiting one of the hottest spots in the Mediterranean along her maiden voyage, the motor yacht unsurprisingly made quite the impression amongst onlookers who caught side of her along the coast of Mykonos.

An ideal charter choice for families and friends, O’PTASIA is capable of sleeping up to 12 guests across a total of 11 cabins, with accomodation available in a master and VIP cabin as well as 6 doubles, and 3 twins.

The award-winning O’PTASIA yacht is the $100 million vessel designed by Studio Vafiadis and built by the Greek shipyard Golden Yachts.

The magnificent O’PTASIA yacht features interior design from Studio Vafiadis . She has a modern contemporary style, with Art Deco influences featuring light and dark complementing designs. Style designs include wood, crisp lines, and eye-catching details.

She has accommodation for 12 guests in 10 cabins, with the master suite located on the upper deck and offering 180-degree views.

The upper deck is also host to two double cabins, a twin cabin, with the full-beam VIP suite located on the main deck.

Five more cabins can be found on this deck, with a guest elevator providing access between the lower deck and the bridge deck.

She features accommodation for 26 crew members. O’PTASIA features amazing entertainment features like a pool and outdoor cinema.

The pool on the sundeck offers plenty of sunbathing options. She has a touch-and-go helipad that makes it easy for guests to arrive on board.

The spacious beach club has a steam room, massage room, and bar, which offers the perfect spot for guests to relax on the water level. A hydraulic ladder adds easy access to the ocean to the yacht’s features.

The O’PTASIA yacht has a fully equipped selection of water toys that include jet skis, towable toys, water skis, seabobs, wakeboards, kayaks, and bikes.

She also has four tenders on board, the most notable being a 9.75m Onda Limo tender.

The exterior of the O’PTASIA yacht also features a design from Studio Vafiadis, with Giorgio Vafiadis at the helm. It was built by the Greek shipping company Golden Yachts and delivered in 2018.

The yacht has a striking exterior with a white steel hull and aluminum superstructure. The underwater exterior of the superyacht features underwater lights that illuminate the vessel at night.

O’PTASIA was built by Golden Yachts as a custom yacht to be sold upon completion.

Specifications

The O’PTASIA is an 85m superyacht with a draft of 3.6m and a beam of 13.8m. Her two Caterpillar engines give her a cruising speed of 14 knots and a top speed of 17 knots.

She has a displacement of 2342 gross tons. She won the prestigious International Superyacht Society award in the Power 65 plus category in 2019.

A touch and go helipad is located on the foredeck for convenient access and can be converted to an observation platform or games area.

Styled as contemporary with Art Deco influences, O’PTASIA’s interior features a blend of dark woods, paired with a light colour palette that evokes a sense of calm. The large, open plan main saloon hosts two seating areas and a separate dining area forward, while the upper deck saloon features a comfortable lounging area and bar.

Accommodating up to 23 guests in 10 cabins, O’PTASIA’s master suite is located on the upper deck forward and offers 180-degree views from the master cabin. The upper deck also hosts two double cabins and a twin cabin. The full-beam VIP suite is located forward on the main deck with a private lounge area and his and hers walk-in wardrobes. Four more double cabins (two of which are convertible to twin cabins) and one twin cabin can also be found on this deck. A guest elevator provides access between the lower deck to the bridge deck, as does the magnificent staircase, thus allowing guests to move about with ease.

Powered by twin 3,386hp Caterpillar diesel engines, O’PTASIA has a top speed of 20 knots, a cruising speed of 16 knots and a maximum range of 10,015nm. Her zero speed stabiliser system ensures a smooth cruising experience, both underway and at anchor.

One of the largest yachts available for charter and featuring an award-winning design by Studio Vafiadis, it’s certainly not hard to see why.

Made for charter from day one, O’Ptasia comes with an outdoor cinema, a spacious gym and a huge beach club complete with hammam, massage room and sauna.

Up to 12 guests are accommodated onboard across 10 spacious cabins. The owner’s suite is a particular highlight and spans 85 square metres with private panoramic views. Just as impressive is the 95 square metre VIP cabin, located on the main deck, as well as four double cabins and one twin cabin on the main deck.

The Captain

Captain Vangelis Berdos commenced his ocean career more than two decades ago on board motor tankers before completing a captain stint on the Hellenic Navy’s Ferry Ios. He has extensive experience helming M/Ys Sapphire and O’Neiro and running M/Y Suncoco for eight years. Trilingual in English, Greek and German, Captain Vangelis prides himself on ensuring that your every need and desire is met while on board and in his charge. His interests include martial arts, kart racing, sailing and watersports.  

The Experience

The experience of O’Ptasia revolves around the finer things in life. A touch-and-go helipad ensures seamless adventures at sea, while there’s plenty to enjoy on board. She comes fully equipped with a host of exciting water toys, including a custom 9.75 metre limo tender, 6 metre Novurainia catamaran, an 8 metre Chris Craft tender and a range of personal watercraft, towables and inflatables for the whole family to enjoy.

With O’Ptasia’s crew of 29 having extensively travelled the Mediterranean, you are assured of always dropping anchor in the best spots. “In my opinion,” says the captain, “Greece and the southern coast of Turkey are two of the best cruising destinations in the world. There you can find tranquil bays, natural parks and ancient ruins, all within just a few miles of one another.”

When not enjoying the treasures of the Mediterranean coast, life on board is everything you could want and more. One of O’Ptasia’s highlights is undeniably the vast beach club complete with a bar, oversized seating areas and a full spa experience, including a massage room, sauna and steam room. There’s also a fully-equipped gym and an outdoor cinema for movie nights under the stars.

The Cuisine

Born and raised in Greece, Chef Valentina Argyropoulou studied culinary art in Athens before working in high-end restaurants across Europe. Her signature style is fresh, seasonal, and traditional with a twist. “I prefer cooking with seasonal ingredients to create the perfect dish - I always go to the local markets for fresh products,” she says.

Bringing her Greek heritage into her menus is not just about Mediterranean flavours and fresh ingredients, however. For Chef Argyropoulou, it’s all about creating food with heart and soul. “My mother taught me that through food, you could express your feelings and make people around you happier,” she explains. “Food creates memories. I love the opportunity to meet so many different people and cultures on board and to create these memories through my plates.”

Recalling one of her favourite culinary experiences on board, Chef Argyropoulou describes a dessert to remember. “One of my signature dishes is the Chocolate Sphere filled with chocolate mousse, Caramelia Valrhona, and berries. The hot chocolate is poured over the top, melting the sphere right in front of the guests!”

Accommodating up to 22 guests in 11 cabins, O’PTASIA’s master suite is located on the upper deck and affords guests’ 180-degree views. A twin cabin is located adjacent to the master so that the lead charterer’s children can be accommodated close by. The upper deck also hosts a further two double cabins. The full beam VIP stateroom is located forward on the main deck with a private cinema room, and a further four double cabins (two of which are convertible to twin cabins), can also be found at this level. Guest and crew elevators provide access between all four decks, as does the magnificent guest staircase and separate crew staircase, thus allowing the crew to move about with ease without disturbing guests.

Powered by twin 3,516hp Caterpillar diesel engines, O’PTASIA has a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots. The built-in stabilizer system ensures a smooth cruising experience, both underway and at anchor.

Video: Golden Yachts 85m flagship O’Ptasia delivered

The 85 metre steel-hulled superyacht  O’Ptasia  has been delivered in Greece, becoming the flagship of Golden Yachts' fleet and  one of the 200 largest superyachts in the world .

O’Ptasia  was launched in April 2018 and has set out on her maiden voyage after successfully completing her sea trials in the Aegean, recently being spotted in Mykonos.

Styled inside and out by  Studio Vafiadis  with naval architecture by N Hellas,  O’Ptasia  is now offered for charter through  Atalanta Golden Yachts .

Her accommodation is comprised of 11 staterooms, including an upper deck  owner’s suite  that measures 95 square metres and comes with a private study, walk-in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom. Two double cabins and a twin complete the layout on this level, while two doubles, two convertible cabins, two twins and a VIP suite on the main deck further add to the extensive hosting options.

A grand total of 18 crew cabins ensure that every whim can be catered to, including a bridge-deck captain’s cabin. The central  superyacht elevator  provides quick access between all four decks, while the foredeck helipad allows guests to arrive in style.

On-board entertainment options are plentiful, with a 16-person dining table in the main deck saloon and a bridge deck gymnasium. Another star feature is her spacious  superyacht beach club , complete with steam room and massage area.

There is also a helipad for a quick getaway on the foredeck and a pool for cooling off on the sundeck.

Power comes from a pair of 3,386hp Caterpillar 3516C engines for a top speed of 16 knots, while the built-in stabiliser system should ensure a smooth cruising experience, both underway and at anchor. Guests looking to take to the water should head to  O’Ptasia ’s central  tender garage , which houses three Seadoos, a six metre Novurania catamaran, a 4.4 metre Avon RIB and an eight metre Chris Craft tender as well as a plethora of water toys.

O’Ptasia ’s delivery comes hot on the heels of the launch of Golden Yachts’ 57 metre _ O’Mathilde  _which is also due for delivery in time for the summer season.
