The Najad 490 was the first Najad yacht involving designer Judel/Vrolijk & Co. Together with Najadvarvet this yacht was the beginning of a long-term cooperation between the companies which has resulted in numerous world class Najad cruising yachts. Compared to most previous Najad models, the Najad 490 has a more efficient hull shape, keel and rudder design, resulting in fantastic sailing characteristics, especially in lighter winds. The Najad 490 is a dream to sail on the oceans, yet relatively fast and easy to handle for coastal sailing.

All sail handling is easily done from the centre cockpit, which is equipped with a solid fixed windscreen with a stainless steel frame and a sprayhood, allowing for greater protection from any cold, windy and rainy weather. The wide side decks together with numerous solid grab rails makes moving around on deck both safe and effortless. On the forward deck is a large sail locker, making the handling of Code 0 and a gennaker very efficient. The teak deck is not only nice looking but also offers good anti slip functionality as well as some extra insulation.

Najad 490, MEMENTO VIVERE is the last 490 built of this successful model. She was delivered in 2008. She was specified for sailing anywhere and is well equipped with almost everything you woud require.

The layout includes an aft owner’s cabin with a wide centered double berth, en-suite heads / shower and plenty of storage for long term live aboard. The galley, which is located directly to port of the entrance, is longitudinal and extends aftwards. Directly to starboard of the entrance you will find a large navigation area, which also can work as an office. The saloon has a sofa to port, a solid table and two very comfortable chairs to starboard. In front of the mast bulkhead you will find a guest cabin with bunk beds to port and heads with separate shower compartment to starboard and the forward cabin with a double berth.

Owner’s Comments

This boat is a dream to sail even in low winds, and of course, when the winds get stronger you still feel comfortable. In addition, she is very easy to sail single-handed, because of good technical solutions. This is the nicest boat interior we have ever seen, true Orust craftmanship and design.

We have been sailing mainly on the Baltic Sea and stored the boat at Orust Yacht Service in Henån, during the winter. During 2023 we sailed from Sweden to Cascais, Portugal where the yacht is currently located. The Furuno plotter + radar + satellite compass are absolutely the best you can get, and are what coast guard and SAR and even many military boats are usually equipped with. The user interface is the quickest to grasp among all the brands, resulting in safety at sea. Docking is very easy with side-power proportional thrusters with “hold function” and remote control.

Very well maintained Najad 490 from 2002. She has a unique blue hull, is very well and completely equipped. short keel version, electric winches and electric and hydraulic furling sail systems, partly new navigation system. Large saloon, master cabin with island bed and 2 guest cabins. comfortable cockpit all combine to make her feel very stately, This Najad 490 is a yacht for bluewater cruising par excellence - she’d take you almost anywhere without you needing to break a sweat.

Målet med den framgångsrika designen av Najad 355 var att skapa en exklusiv och komfortabel segelbåt med utmärkta seglingsegenskaper. Precis som de andra modellerna i Najads flotta kan den hanteras effektivt och säkert av en liten besättning. Den ergonomiskt utformade och bekväma sittbrunnen har en fast vindruta som skyddar samtidigt som den ger bra sikt. Däckslayouten är genomtänkt och utrustningen är av högsta kvalitet från för till akter. Najad 355 erbjuder en fin känsla vid rodret och är rolig att segla.

Interiören är tillverkad med bästa möjliga finish och passform av Najadvarvet – praktiska lösningar kombinerade med enastående hantverk! En ljus och rymlig salong ger dig tillgång till både en navigationsplats, ett L-format pentry och ett ljust badrum med dusch och våtgarderob. I fören finns en V-koja, och akterut finns en rymlig dubbelkoj. Båda kabinerna har garderober och gott om förvaringsutrymme.

Denna Najad 355, O´mera, är en av de sista 355:or som lämnade Najadvarvet, och vi kan med säkerhet säga att det är den finaste på marknaden. Hon seglar med sin första ägare, och har under de senaste åren genomgått en omfattande renovering med uppgraderingar och en ”ansiktslyftning”. O´mera, har förutom en hög utrustningsnivå från varvet, bla fått ny bottenbehandling, nya akter- och bogpropellrar, självklart infällbara med variabel hastighet och hållfunktion. Nedgången har slipats ner och nylackerats, vilket gör att den är som ny. Vinscharna har blivit elektrifierade och både masten och Furlex sköts med tryckknappar. I sittbrunnen finns två nya plottrar från Raymarine, och batteribanken har nya AGM-batterier. UK Sails har levererat nya X-drive segel, och det finns en ny solpanel på rufftaket. Båten har också fått nytt åskskydd.

Vi kunde inte låta bli att le när vi först såg denna vackra båt, som kombinerar svensk Orust-båttradition med modern design. Genom åren har det leendet aldrig försvunnit – vi känner fortfarande samma glädje varje gång vi ser henne. Hon, “O´mera”, plockar snabbt upp fart och hanterar hårt väder pålitligt, vilket gör henne både rolig att segla och mycket säker. Sittbrunnen är helt perfekt; det är en fantastisk upplevelse att sitta i en av pulpitbänkarna medan båten seglar genom öppet vatten och se hur hon kraftfullt och effektivt skär genom vågorna. Vi har aldrig ångrat vårt köp av denna vackra, härliga och mycket praktiska segelbåt. Vi är övertygade om att den nya ägaren kommer att njuta av henne lika mycket som vi har gjort.
