Introduced by SoroSuub in Year 4 CGT, the Horizon-class Star Yacht quickly became a crowning achievement in starship design. Tasked with diversifying the PLY product line, the Sullustan shipwrights of "Project New Horizons" incorporated successful design elements into a completely original configuration that was critically acclaimed as an engineering marvel. Manufactured in very small quantities for market trials, the Horizon-class became a sensation after being prominently featured in the holovid series "Girongo the Hutt", which followed the half-fictional exploits of the outlaw celebrity and his crew. Even today, many people still believe that Girongo designed the Horizon himself. While the future seemed bright for this innovative luxury model, the Horizon-class was discontinued when SoroSuub was folded into Incom. However, following the New Republic's demise in Year 21, a number of Horizon-class datacards began to circulate on the industrial market.
One departure from the standard PLY design was to include a starfighter-style cockpit in place of the more traditional bridge seen on other yachts. With room for only a pilot, a co-pilot, and a navigator, the Horizon is designed to be run by a small crew, giving a more hands-on feel when piloting the ship. The Horizon is more heavily armed than previous yacht models, with twin heavy lasers flanking the cockpit. It is also fitted with a ventral tractor beam to aid in loading and unloading the ship's docking bay. Its inner, strut-mounted pods house the twin ion engines that propel the ship during sublight travel, and its outer, wing-mounted pods house suites of advanced sensors, giving the ship a remarkable detection range. The interior of the ship is lavishly decorated with hardwood floors and stonework features. Typically, the Horizon's fixtures are adorned with precious metals.
With a unique combination of luxury and practicality, the Horizon is usually preferred by those looking to travel swiftly and in style. While not particularly suited to any one purpose, the Horizon's speed, weaponry, and docking capabilities make it highly adaptable. For this reason, the Horizon is able to fulfil a variety of roles, making it the ideal home away from home for wealthy sentients across the galaxy.

Description.
The Horizon-class Star Yacht was an engineering triumph. While certain design aspects were built off the themes visible in SoroSuub's line of Personal Luxury Yachts, the Horizon-class was a true paradigm in design. While both ships were designed with luxury in mind and featured an upper level observation deck, one major difference between the two models was the cockpit. While the PLY 3000's cockpit was more of a bridge structure, one level below the observation deck, the Horizon was designed with a dorsal cockpit, more like that of a starfighter than a yacht. Another of the Horizon's unique design features were the two equipment pods on the wings which could easily be configured to hold incognito weapons!

Originally commissioned by Girongo the Hutt, infamous and charismatic outer-rim pirate, the Horizon Star Yacht is touted by many as the epitome of luxury. An engineering marvel, the Horizon featured in a popular self-titled holovid series in which Girongo the Hutt portrayed his exploits in a highly romanticized fashion. This high-profile exposure helped to inflate the Horizon Star Yacht's reputation as a high quality ship. Girongo the Hutt is believed to have profited greatly from his holovid's advertising of the Yacht.

Still a Stub? [ ]The article I just wrote is entirely based on the image and the Jade Shadow article. I still consider it a stub, since it doesn't provide a lot of real data, or a stat box, but I think it's a better stub than the previous one.-- Thorvindr 03:03, 4 December 2006 (UTC) I think its fine...I'm going to remove the stub. I took off all the armaments, as well as everything else the JS article said was added to the ship. I took a little liberty in certain places. I added a little cargo capacity to account for several ship systems no longer existing, as well as added the capacity for an additional passenger for the same reason. I considered changing the crew compliment, as well as the consumables, but decided against it. I also did not change the starfighter compliment, as the Jade Shadow article is unclear as to just how the docking bay was modified: whether it was enlarged, adapted, re-equipped or simply re-painted. I also made the assumption that the astromech station is standard, though I have no fact on which to base that, other than that this is a luxury yacht, and I think it ought to have one. Granted, that's not a great justification, but a decision had to be made, and I'm the only guy presently at the keyboard. I removed the roles of scout and boarding craft from the list because this is obviously nothing more than a cruiser, with little or no combat ability. I wasn't sure why the class was "shuttle" and not "transport," but the stock model should definitely be classified a yacht. I think those are all the changes I made from the Jade Shadow infobox. Oh. I don't know WHAT I did to screw up the title of the infobox, but if somebody who knows the code better than I do wants to clear that up, I'm sure evryone would appreciate it. -- Thorvindr 11:41, 6 April 2007 (UTC) infobox/grammar [ ]Okay. If you're going to take out the starfighter capacity, you can't possibly also reduce the cargo capacity AND the passenger capacity. The amount of space it takes to house an X-Wing has to be re-allocated to either cargo or passenger capacity. Otherwise, this ship can hold one starfighter or shuttle in its docking bay. Also, the skeleton crew is not one pilot and one astromech. It's one pilot OR one astromech. And what is your justification for removing this ship's hyperdrive capability? Reduce it if you want to. I was expecting that. But this ship is a yacht. It has a hyperdrive. And why are you adding markup coed where you don't need it? I can't believe someone actually took the time to change
In the interests of efficiency, I removed the unnecassary tag (you have to actually look at the code to see that waste of time here). Seriously. Don't edit on a whim. It's just stupid. If you're sure something in this article is wrong, then change it and justify it in discussion. Otherwise, go vandalize somebody else's article. Since there was no justification for almost any of these changes, I've changed them back to reflect sensible data. I have no problem with you editing "my" article (I know it's not really MINE, but since I wrote it from scratch, I'm very protective of it), but I'm not going to allow it to be carelessly vandalized. And I'm not kidding about my grammar. I promise you it's perfect. Don't touch it.
