SELLER BEWARE!!!!!! We entrusted the sale of our boat to Trenton Carroll, owner of Cruising Yachts. A nice guy -- or so we thought -- but once we signed the contract he NEVER marketed the boat as agreed before signing with him. In fact, he NEVER MARKETED IT AT ALL but he essentially forced us into selling the vessel to a client of his "associate" ... this after letting the boat sit for 3 1/2 months while catering to the whims of his "potential buyer" and NEVER SHOWING IT TO ANYONE ELSE!!! Since we had moved to Europe and were not there to monitor everything we were unaware that he never even put up "for sale" signs on the vessel for over two months or until we phoned him and were outraged with that knowledge. He changed the locks WITHOUT OUR AUTHORIZATION and then a boat neighbor told us he had seen someone on our boat KICKING BACK AND WATCHING THE LARGE SCREEN TV AT NIGHT!!!! I mean, maybe someone was living there for all we knew!!! Because of his constant lack of communication and the fact of NO MARKETING we were nervous wrecks for 3 1/2 months while he let the prime selling months of summer pass so his one potential buyer could go on an EXTENDED EUROPEAN VACATION -- while he just left us dangling. From our nerve wracking experience we would advise potential boat sellers to go elsewhere if looking for a reputable boat broker.

I took a very well constructed and maintained boat to to docks Cruising yachts rent in Alameda to sell. The borker Jeff Jorgensen was more concerned in servicing the buyer he found then representing my interest. I paid a $10,000 commision to the broker. The buyer paid zero yet he get all his points shoved down my throat by the broker. If you have a boat to sell you can do better.

I recently purchased a boat from Cruising Yachts, Jeff Jorgensen was my rep. He did a great job. Nice guy, very knowledgeable, knows how to sail. Follow-up service is great thus far as well. I can understand sellers having issues because most want too much money for their boat even after they fail the survey. Especially in this sellers market. This was my third survey and it was clean as Jeff said it would be. The other two surveys were with different brokers that I will not mention because one was down right dishonest. Jeff is honest and to the point and don't even think otherwise.

If you are looking to buy a boat, look no further and contact Dinah and Roger Goodsell at Cruising Yachts. Dinah and Roger know boats inside out and offer incredible professionalism and impeccable service. They are a dream to work with and to top it off, fantastic people. My husband and I would give them a six out of five star rating!

In June 2013, we contracted with licensed yacht broker John Kuony of Cruising Yachts / Sail California to market and sell our 70 LOD motor-sailer. Our main partner had unexpectedly passed away and the sale of the vessel was important to fund his estate and relieve the other partners of an asset that required the decedent's attention. Mr. Kuony accepted the brokerage commission, and suggested a sales price that took into account the urgency of the sale. Based on the conditon of the vessel and our desire for a quick sale, the sale price was set at $775,000, about half her surveyed value. Mr. Kuony also required that the vessel be moved to Marina Bay Yacht Harbor, adjacent to his office, to facilitate showing the vessel by Mr. Kuony. A conditon of placing the vessel adjacent ot his office in Alameda was the payment of monthly berthing charges of $1120 per month, starting July 1, 2013 (to hold the slip, he said). Despite paying the berthing charges from July 1, when the vessel was moved to Alameda on August 15, 2013, the paid-for slip was occupied by another vessel. Five months later, after payment of over $5,000 in berthing charges, the yacht broker has not listed the vessel on his company's webpage, has not advertised the vessel at all, has required the vessel to be moved from his slip (without any set-off in berthing charges) for a local boat show, has prepared no brochures, no boat show showings, no marketing emails, no photos while under sail (he canceled the one time the vessel was crewed and underway), no "For Sale" sign, nothing.... It appears the Mr. Kuony only wanted the vessel placed adjacent to his office to defray his continuing obligation to pay berthing charges for slips he may, or may not, be using. He has produced no prospective buyers, at all.
