Quanto costa uno yacht: dall’acquisto al mantenimento

Se escludiamo le imbarcazioni più piccole, l’acquisto di uno yacht di lusso è una spesa importante che comporta un grosso esborso iniziale e una costante spesa da sostenere per mantenere l’unità in acqua e soprattutto in efficienza. Quanto costa uno yacht? In questo articolo analizzeremo i costi a partire dalle misure più piccole fino alle navi da diporto.

Secondo wikipedia con il termine yacht (o panfilo) vengono indicate navi da diporto di modeste dimensioni e superiori ai 24 metri di lunghezza aventi alloggi eleganti e confortevoli.

Quanto costa uno yacht di lusso e perchè

Ma cosa fa di uno yacht un bene così costoso? Non solo l’esclusività di possederlo, ma per la sua costruzione sono necessari mesi (spesso anni) di lavoro, manodopera specializzata, materiali pregiati, motori potenti, strumentazione e accessori, abili designer, studi di stabilità e idrodinamica, adempimenti per la messa in opera e la sicurezza.

A parità di misura, uno yacht a motore è più costoso di uno yacht a vela perchè la componente motori ha un peso maggiore sia in termini di spesa che di struttura. Le dimensioni fanno lievitare il prezzo d’acquisto in modo esponenziale e non proporzionale. Se ad esempio tra un 48 piedi ed un 50 piedi (stesso cantiere) ci fossero 100 mila euro di differenza, tra un 50 piedi ed un 52 piedi potrebbero esserci 300 mila euro di differenza.

La nostra ricerca vuole essere ampia e a campione. Partirà da barche di circa 15 metri fino ad arrivare allo yacht più grande del mondo. I prezzi indicati si riferiscono a barche nuove , sono frutto di una nostra indagine, potrebbero non corrispondere con il valore esatto e si riferisco alle offerte “standard” e quindi optional esclusi.

Quanto costa mantenere uno yacht

I costi di mantenimento di uno yacht di lusso  sono elevati e difficilmente preventivabili a priori . Imbarcazioni così grandi (oltre i 22/24 metri) hanno bisogno dell’equipaggio (almeno un comandante e un marinaio) e di cure costanti. Come tutte le imbarcazioni necessitano di assistenza allo scafo, ai motori, agli impianti, agli interni. Spesso, durante l’estate, sostano in marina prestigiosi che hanno notevoli costi e consumano molto carburante . Bisogna inoltre considerare i costi di invernaggio e rimessaggio durante l’inverno.

Da 15 ai 18 metri

Entry-level per essere considerato uno yacht, la fascia tra i 15 e 18 metri è forse la più popolata. Troviamo imbarcazioni che offrono almeno 2 cabine comode e una terza più sacrificata.

Per comprare uno yacht incluso in questo range il budget deve essere abbondantemente sopra il milione di euro. Troviamo infatti unità costruite con assoluta maestria e che necessitano di tante ore di costruzione e ricerca.

Riviera 5800 Sport Yacht

Riviera è un cantiere nautico che realizza barche solide  dalle spiccate doti marine, capaci di affrontare qualsiasi condizione del mare. 19,30 metri per questo 5800 Sport (oggi fuori produzione sostituito dal 6000 Sport), 4 cabine e 3 bagni. Un design senza tempo.

Da 20 a 30 metri

Per comprare uno yacht incluso in questo range il budget deve essere abbondantemente sopra i due milioni di euro . Troviamo infatti unità costruite con assoluta maestria e che necessitano di tante ore di costruzione e ricerca. Al di sopra dei 24 metri non parliamo più di imbarcazioni ma di navi da diporto . Le navi da diporto sono assoggetate ad una normativa specifica e richiedono obbligatoriamente l’equipaggio (aumentando così il costo di esercizio).

Sunseeker 75

Questa vera è propria nave è stata costruita in meno di 3 anni ed appartiene a Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, presidente degli Emirati Arabi Uniti nonchè emiro di Abu Dhabi. Raggiunge una velocità di oltre 30 nodi che fanno di lui il super yacht più veloce al mondo .

Essere poveri é uno stato mentale xche vorremmo sempre ciò che nn possiamo possedere credo che Il proprietario ne vorrebbe uno più grande ancora di quello xche vogliamo sempre di più. C’è gente che nn sa nemmeno cosa sia avere qualcosa.. Nn è una critica ma un modo di vedere. Bisogna accontentarsi. E fare tesoro di quello che abbiamo.

in generale il costo complessivo per mantenere uno yacht (carburante, tasse , stipendio marinai, ecc) corrisponde al 10% annuo del prezzo di acquisto, qundi per uno yacht pagato 80 milioni di euro si spenderà circa 8 milioni di euro all’anno

Salve. Ma avete parlato solo del prezzo d’ acquisto… e della manutenzione e del mantenimento nada??

Sono un insulto alla Povertà di noi persone comuni che abbiamo salari mensili da vergogna!!!!!!!!! Con i soldi speso per uno di questi “appartamenti galleggianti” si sfamerebbero milioni di bambini del terzo mondo!!!!!! Che schifo pensare che ci sia chi muore di fame e invece chi vive per ingozzarsi…..!!!!! W gli umani!!!! (meglio gli animali)

questi gioielli sono capolavori d’ingegneria e e sono un vanto per il paese che li produce. Non sono un insulto alla miseria ma piuttosto opportunità di lavoro specializzato e benessere

per la realizzazione di uno yacht di 40-50 metri viene dato lavoro a circa 10-15 persone come marinai, e altri 100-150 per la costruzione, che impiega dai 6 mesi all’anno( in base alla grandezza ovviamente). Quindi questi yacht sfamano centinaia di persone per la costruzione e marinai che lavorano lì. Quindi sono un doppio bene perchè accontentano i ricchi che hanno sudato per averli e i ” poveri ” che non se lo possono permettere. È sempre meglio informarsi prima di scrivere cose a caso.

Purtroppo a sfamare le persone ci vorrebbero i governi……. Mi faccio il culo, studio come guadagnare tanto, certamente me la godo, come fanno da una vita i nostri governanti. E’ che non si avvera mai, mi sbatto per pochi spiccioli….. Beati loro che si sbattono per vivere bene… . e certamente avere belle cose e belle e brave persone intorno. In tv parlano sempre di poverta’ mentre un imprenditore vuole solo idee che non catturera’ mai dalla tv.

Comunque senza i ricchi non lavoreremmo…. aspetta che lo stato ci dia lavoro…. menomale che i privati esistono e ci danno benessere! Accontentiamoci di quello che siamo riusciti a fare ognuno nella e della propria vita. Ammirate il panfilo e godete della sua bellezza!

Mega Yacht: cosa sono, quanto costano, e quanto costa manutenerli

I mega yacht sono imbarcazioni di lusso che hanno fatto la loro comparsa sul mercato negli anni ‘80. Il primo della storia è stato il panfilo Nabila, varato nel 1979 e di proprietà del petroliere Kashoggi.

La loro caratteristica, come suggerisce il nome, è quella di avere dimensioni che superano di molto gli standard degli yacht tradizionali.

Mediamente infatti le lunghezze di un super yacht si aggirano sui 40 metri ma si spingono anche molto oltre, non essendoci limiti alle loro dimensioni e stazza, che non siano quelli stabiliti dai desideri e dalle possibilità dei loro proprietari.

Al momento il più lungo in assoluto è l’Azzam che misura 180 metri ed è super anche per il prezzo (500 milioni di euro) e la quantità di carburante che può contenere (un milione di litri).

Riassumendo…

Che cosa sono i mega yacht?

I mega yacht sono yacht di 40 metri e più di lunghezza dotati di finiture e optional di lusso. Alcuni celebri mega yacht sono:

• l’Eclipse, lo yacht di Abramovich spodestato dall’Azzam per il primato nella lunghezza, ancora insuperabile per le due piattaforme di atterraggio per elicotteri e un sistema di difesa lancia-missili.
• Il Mirage, lo yacht invisibile costruito in vetro se guardato a 50 metri di distanza.
• Il Custom Line Navetta 37  di Ferretti Group, capace di raggiungere, a fronte delle grandi dimensioni, una velocità di 12 nodi.
• CRN Chopi Chopi, il più grande mega yacht costruito ad Ancona.

Altri super yacht vantano piscine e spiagge interne, e spazi da far invidia alle costruzioni di lusso realizzate sulla terraferma.

Nel settore dei luxury yacht, queste “navi private” rappresentano circa 1/4 del mercato complessivo. Una porzione destinata a crescere e che, prevedibilmente presto, raggiungerà il 50% del totale.

L’Italia è uno dei paesi dove la costruzione di queste imbarcazioni di lusso di grandi dimensioni sarà strategica per l’intero comparto nautico e l’interesse per queste realizzazioni straordinarie è molto alto.

Ma quali sono per un potenziale armatore le voci di spesa di cui tener conto? Proviamo a vederle tutte.

Costo mega yacht: la panoramica completa

Il costo di questi super yacht, come è facile immaginare, varia al variare delle loro dimensioni. Se uno yacht di lusso tra i 30 e i 40 metri come il  Navetta Custom Line 42  ha un prezzo di listino di 18 milioni di euro, i modelli da 100 metri, invece, sfiorano, e a volte superano, i 100 milioni di euro. Fino salire ai 500 milioni del già citato Azzam.

Si tratta di veri mostri del mare, come quelli realizzati da Blohm + Voss, o firmati da designer come Francesco Paszkowski e Lenard Nuvolari, che richiedono disponibilità pressoché illimitate se si considerano tutte le spese che comportano.

Voci importanti di spesa riguardano infatti la gestione del personale, stipendi extra compresi, e quella per il corredo e i complementi d’arredo che saranno inevitabilmente all’altezza degli standard qualitativi di design e pregio, che caratterizzano fin nei dettagli qualsiasi yacht o mega yacht di lusso.

Vediamo quali cifre raggiungono le spese più ordinarie legate alla manutenzione di un super yacht.

Gli  yacht in vendita  di certo non mancano anche quando si parla di mega yacht, ma potrebbe essere utile sapere che i prezzi scendono di molto quando si opta per l’usato.

La scelta di modelli disponibili è ampia anche in questo caso.

Mega yacht: quanto costa manutenerli

La spesa complessiva prevista è di circa il 10%  del valore di acquisto a cui sono da aggiungere i costi di alaggio, sosta ed equipaggio.

Sono da tenere in conto poi i costi di manutenzione ordinaria che proteggono da umidità, sole e sale, e quelli di manutenzione straordinaria che tengono conto di altri piccoli incidenti straordinari.

Indicativamente possiamo ipotizzare un costo di 12.000 euro per alaggio e varo e altri 10.000 per la manutenzione dei motori.

Per finire, inciderà sul totale delle spese anche l’acquisto degli accessori che garantiscono di migliorare lo stato di salute dello yacht.

Molto rilevanti sono anche i costi di ormeggio. La  marina più cara in assoluto è Capri , dove va conteggiata quotidianamente una spesa addirittura doppia a quella del  Port de Saint Tropez : 2585 euro al giorno per uno yacht di 40+ metri, in alta stagione. Alla capolista italiana seguono le  marine di Porto cervo  e  Portofino , dove comunque non si scende al di sotto dei 2000 euro.

Anche in questo caso i costi aumentano all’aumentare delle dimensioni, sempre però che l’ormeggio sia consentito.

Tra queste ricordiamo la  marina di Mirabello a La Spezia, la quale è sicuramente una delle marine più adatte per l’ormeggio dei megayacht – è stata scelta da Giorgio Armani per la sua M/Y Main.

In genere però, come già accennato, non tutte le marine consentono alle imbarcazioni di lusso di grandi dimensioni: e dai 70 metri di lunghezza in poi l’unica possibilità è levare l’àncora al largo.

Un aspetto su cui prestare la massima attenzione sono i costi di mantenimento dell’imbarcazione. Alcuni sono fissi e si possono pianificare, mentre altri variano nel tempo ed è più difficile fare una stima precisa a priori. Se la spesa dovesse risultare eccessiva, si possono valutare diverse soluzioni, come il noleggio oppure delle strategie d’investimento ad hoc che potrebbero aiutare a realizzare il sogno di uno yacht di proprietà.

Costo yacht: quali sono i fattori da considerare?

Da cosa dipende il costo di uno yacht? Il primo aspetto da considerare è la lunghezza del natante, perché inevitabilmente al crescere delle dimensioni, sale anche il prezzo. Quando si superano i 24 metri di lunghezza, è obbligatorio assumere un equipaggio fisso, con tutti i costi che questo comporta.

Anche la tipologia di imbarcazione fa la differenza, infatti gli yacht a motore in genere costano il 30% in più di quelli a vela. Le personalizzazioni sono un altro fattore che fa lievitare il prezzo, come anche il costruttore dell’imbarcazione e i motori montati sul natante.

I costi di manutenzione sono spesso sottovalutati, ma sono una voce di spesa fissa e programmabile. Chi acquista uno yatch preso dall’entusiasmo di un buon affare, si scontra poi con la necessità di affrontare le ingenti spese di manutenzione, che corrispondono ogni anno all’incirca al 10% del costo dello yatch.

Quanto può costare uno yacht? Ecco una panoramica generale (da yacht piccolo a super yacht)

Visto che le variabili sono moltissime, definire con chiarezza quanto costa uno yatch è tutt’altro che facile, ma si può almeno individuare un range di prezzo in base alle dimensioni dell’imbarcazione .

Gli yatch tra i 15 e i 18 metri sono quelli più piccoli, ma dispongono in ogni caso di almeno 2 cabine, più una di dimensioni più ridotte, ma pur sempre dotata di bagno. Il prezzo per imbarcazioni di questa metratura si aggira intorno al milione di euro e accolgono con comodità fino a 6 ospiti.

Quando gli yatch raggiungono i 18 o 20 metri di lunghezza, sono dotati in genere di 4 comode cabine, realizzate con attenzione anche ai piccoli dettagli. Quanto può costare uno yatch di questa metratura? Il prezzo supera il milione e in alcuni casi anche il milione e mezzo.

Quando superiamo i 20 o i 30 metri, per comprare uno yatch occorrono più di 2 milioni di euro, ma il prezzo può anche superare i 5 milioni per le imbarcazioni più performanti, che combinano lusso e sportività. Le imbarcazioni dispongono di almeno 3 o 4 cabine, più i letti per l’equipaggio, indispensabile sopra i 24 metri.

Oltre i 30m

Gli yatch che superano i 30 metri sono spesso dei capolavori di stile e tecnologia e il prezzo si avvicina intorno ai 100 milioni di euro. Si tratta di navi da diporto che dispongono di più ponti e possono accogliere decine di ospiti e una trentina di membri dell’equipaggio.

Quanto costa uno yacht usato?

Il mercato dell’usato è molto vivace, infatti non è raro trovare delle vere occasioni, che aiutano a risparmiare rispetto agli yatch appena usciti dal cantiere navale. Se si resta sotto i 24 metri, è possibile comprare uno yatch usato anche per 150.000 euro , mentre il prezzo è nettamente più alto per quelli di grandi dimensioni.

Valutare uno yatch usato richiede una grande esperienza, infatti è preferibile affidarsi ad un perito navale, che sarà in grado di stabilire se il prezzo è appropriato e soprattutto quali sono i costi che bisognerà affrontare dopo l’acquisto.

Quanto costa mantenere uno yacht?

Abbiamo già accennato al fatto che i costi di manutenzione sono i più sottovalutati dagli armatori, che restano focalizzati sul prezzo di acquisto e poi rimangono sorpresi dei costi che richiede mantenere l’imbarcazione in buono stato. Rispetto al prezzo d’acquisto, si deve considerare che i costi di manutenzione corrispondono all’incirca al 10% su base annua.

Assicurazione

L’assicurazione è una voce di spesa che si può pianificare con un certo anticipo e per conoscere l’importo è bene chiedere dei preventivi alle compagnie di assicurazione specializzate. È possibile accedere a sconti interessanti quando si assicurano anche gli accessori, come gli estintori oppure gli strumenti elettronici che servono alla navigazione o alla sicurezza.

Le dimensioni dello yatch sono importanti e comportano costi elevati per l’ormeggio. Anche in questo caso è bene chiedere più preventivi, perché da un porto all’altro ci può essere una consistente differenza. Non bisogna dimenticare la spesa per l’invernaggio e il trasporto del natante presso il porto di ormeggio.

Manutenzione

I costi di manutenzione sono i più difficili da quantificare e dipendono dal tipo di barca e anche dalla sua età. L’epico superyacht Eclipse di Blohm+Voss, lungo 533 piedi, ha impiegato mezzo decennio prima di essere consegnato al miliardario russo Roman Abramovich nel 2010. All’epoca era il più grande yacht del mondo e certamente uno dei più costosi. Sono passati circa 20 anni ed Eclipse è ancora in cima a entrambe le classifiche, con un valore stimato di oltre 600 milioni di dollari.

Progettata da Terence Disdale, l’imbarcazione è dotata di 17 cabine, un ponte armatoriale lungo 185 piedi con una sontuosa suite armatoriale, una piscina gigante che funge da pista da ballo, una palestra, un beach club e una spa. Tra le altre cose, un hangar con spazio per tre elicotteri e un garage che può contenere fino a sei tender. Inoltre, Eclipse ha una velocità massima di 21 nodi e un’autonomia di 6mila miglia nautiche.

Lürssen: Azzam, 600 milioni di dollari

Lürssen si è dimostrato abile nel consegnare imbarcazioni di grandi dimensioni. Progettato da Nauta Yacht, l’esterno è caratterizzato da una lunga e slanciata area di prua e da una serie di livelli che salgono fino allo skydeck. Gli interni sono stati realizzati da Christophe Leoni e presentano un arredamento lussuoso ispirato allo stile Impero dei primi anni del XIX secolo.

L’Azzam non è da meno in alto mare, con una velocità massima di oltre 30 nodi. La costruzione del colosso ha richiesto solo tre anni, più uno di progettazione.

Lürssen: Al Said, 600 milioni di dollari

Un altro megayacht Lürssen a nove cifre sulla lista è Al Saïd . Consegnato nel 2008, il 508 piedi è costato al Sultano dell’Oman circa 600 milioni di dollari. Progettato da Espen Øino, l’esterno ricorda una nave da crociera, con le due ciminiere di scarico al centro della sovrastruttura.

Dotato di uno scafo in acciaio e di una leggera sovrastruttura in alluminio, lo yacht è in grado di raggiungere i 25 nodi in navigazione, con una velocità di crociera di 22 nodi. All’interno, invece, gli interni contemporanei sono stati realizzati da Redman Whiteley Dixon. Tra i punti di forza, una sala concerti per ospitare un’orchestra di 50 elementi.

Yacht più costosi del mondo: Lürssen A+ (Topaz), 527 milioni di dollari

Il megayacht A+ di Lürssen, precedentemente noto come Topaz , sarebbe costato circa 527 milioni di dollari (400 milioni di euro). È il quarto yacht più grande mai costruito dal cantiere tedesco ed è stato varato nel 2012. Si dice che lo sceicco Mansour bin Zayed al Nahyan, vice primo ministro degli Emirati Arabi Uniti e proprietario del Manchester City Football Club, abbia preso in consegna l’imbarcazione e ne sia l’attuale proprietario.

L’esterno di A+ è stato progettato da Tim Heywood Designs, mentre gli interni sono firmati da Terence Disdale. È dotato di cabine per 62 ospiti e 72 membri dell’equipaggio, oltre a due eliporti, una piscina e un’ampia piattaforma di nuoto.

Fincantieri: Serene, 444 milioni di dollari

Il primo superyacht di Fincantieri si è rivelato grande sia in termini di proporzioni che di prezzo. Il 439 piedi era il più grande yacht mai varato in Italia quando è sceso in acqua nel 2011 ed è costato circa 444 milioni di dollari (450 milioni di euro) per essere completato. Progettata da Espen Øino, l’imbarcazione a sette ponti è caratterizzata da un elegante scafo blu, una sovrastruttura bianca a contrasto e una tonnellata di curve audaci.

Include numerosi servizi, tra cui un giardino d’inverno per cenare in qualsiasi stagione, un garage per i tender abbastanza grande da ospitare un sottomarino e una piscina gigantesca per immergersi. Dispone anche di due eliporti e di un hangar per facilitare l’entrata e l’uscita. Gli spazi abitativi sono stati realizzati da Pascale Reymond di Reymond Langton Design.

Platinum Yachts: Dubai, 400 milioni di dollari

Dubai è stato costruito per i reali, con una spesa principesca di circa 400 milioni di dollari. Il superyacht era stato originariamente commissionato dal principe Jefri Bolkiah del Brunei come progetto congiunto di Blohm+Voss e Lürssen. Il duo riuscì a completare solo lo scafo nudo e la sovrastruttura scheletrica prima che la costruzione venisse interrotta nel 1998.

Il progetto fu poi venduto al governo di Dubai e trasformato in uno yacht reale per il sovrano del Paese. Il 532 piedi, rifinito da Platinum Yachts, è stato consegnato allo sceicco Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum nel 2006. Progettato da Winch Design, Dubai si estende su sette ponti e può ospitare 24 persone e 88 membri dell’equipaggio. L’imbarcazione dispone di una piattaforma di atterraggio per un elicottero Black Hawk, un garage per sottomarini, una discoteca e un cinema.

Blohm+Voss: Motor Yacht A, 300 milioni di dollari

La leggenda narra che l’architetto Philippe Starck abbia abbozzato il progetto del Motor Yacht A su un tovagliolo in pochi minuti. Blohm + Voss ha poi venduto il superyacht per circa 300 milioni di dollari. Commissionato dall’industriale russo Andrey Melnichenko, il 390 piedi è caratterizzato da un esterno minimalista e da una prua a pellicano distintiva che disegna una silhouette sorprendente.

Con un baglio di 62 piedi, la nave offre un generoso volume interno di 5.500 GT, con alloggi per 14 ospiti e 42 membri dell’equipaggio. Dispone inoltre di ben tre piscine, una delle quali con fondo in vetro. Melnichenko ha tenuto il Motor Yacht A per quasi un decennio prima di sostituirlo con il Sailing Yacht A di Nobiskrug. Il 468 piedi non è solo il più grande yacht a vela del mondo, ma anche il più costoso con un valore stimato di 578 milioni di dollari.

Yacht più costosi: Lürssen Radiant, 300 milioni di dollari

Si dice che il superyacht sia stato costruito per il magnate russo Boris Berezovsky a un costo di circa 149 milioni di dollari (148,5 milioni di euro). Quando il miliardario si trovò in difficoltà finanziarie, chiese a Edmiston di quotare l’imbarcazione per 352 milioni di dollari (350 milioni di euro) e alla fine la vendette per una cifra di poco inferiore.

Consegnata nel 2010, Radiant ha uno scafo in acciaio, una sovrastruttura in alluminio e uno splendido ponte in teak. Può ospitare comodamente fino a 20 persone in 10 suite e fino a 44 membri dell’equipaggio. Lürssen Pelorus, 300 milioni di dollari

Varata nel 2008, l’imbarcazione da 300 milioni di dollari è stata costruita per l’ex primo ministro del Qatar sotto la supervisione di Kusch Yachts nel cantiere Peters Werft in Germania. L’elegante esterno, disegnato da Tim Heywood, abbina un lungo scafo blu navy a una sovrastruttura bianca a contrasto.

L’ Aviva di Abeking & Rasmussen mostra che tipo di servizi sontuosi si possono ottenere con 250 milioni di dollari. Il 323 piedi, consegnato nel 2017, è dotato della palestra più grande di qualsiasi altro yacht, tanto da ospitare un campo da tennis a grandezza naturale.

Progettato da Toby Silverton e Reymond Langton Design, Aviva abbina un esterno blu curvilineo a interni moderni ed eleganti. È dotata di un sistema di propulsione ibrido che le consente di raggiungere gli 11 nodi con i soli motori elettrici o i 20 nodi con l’aggiunta di energia diesel.

Lo yacht sarebbe il successore di un altro Aviva più piccolo, consegnato al miliardario britannico Joe Lewis nel 2007 ed è stato varato solo 33 mesi dopo la firma del contratto, un’impresa impressionante data la complessità e la portata del progetto.

Lürssen: Octopus, 200 milioni di dollari

Varato nel 2003 al costo di circa 200 milioni di dollari, Octopus è stato costruito da Lürssen per il cofondatore di Microsoft, Paul Allen. Il 414 piedi viene regolarmente prestato per spedizioni e iniziative di ricerca scientifica. Vero e proprio esploratore, dispone di un centro immersioni con camera iperbarica, un sottomarino giallo chiamato Pagoo e un veicolo a comando remoto che può immergersi a migliaia di metri di profondità.

Octopus dispone di due eliporti, un hangar e sette tender per facilitare l’entrata e l’uscita. Tanto spazio a bordo, con 13 cabine, diversi bar, uno studio di registrazione, un cinema, una spa, una palestra, una biblioteca e un campo da basket. Nel 2019 la nave è stata messa in vendita per 325 milioni di dollari.

Lürssen: Rising Sun – 200 milioni di dollari

Rising Sun è stato progettato da una delle menti più brillanti del settore: il leggendario Jon Bannenberg ed è l’ultimo yacht che il designer australiano ha realizzato prima di morire nel 2002. L’imbarcazione, costata 200 milioni di dollari, è stata costruita da Lürssen e consegnata all’ad di Oracle Larry Ellison due anni dopo, nel 2004.

Il 138 piedi è caratterizzato da ampie vetrate che lasciano entrare i raggi del sole. Inoltre, offre 86mila piedi quadrati di spazio abitativo, realizzato da Seccombe Design. Rising Sun presenta nove cabine per un massimo di 18 ospiti e generosi alloggi per l’equipaggio fino a 46 persone. Al suo interno anche una palestra, un cinema, una cantina e un campo da basket.

L’imbarcazione promette una velocità massima di 28 nodi e una velocità di crociera di 26 nodi. L’ultimo refitting risale al 2011 ed è attualmente di proprietà del miliardario David Geffen.

Yacht Lürssen: Solandge, 150 milioni di dollari

Si dice che il Solandge di Lürssen sia costato 150 milioni di dollari e si vede. Consegnato nel 2013, il 279 piedi è ricco di materiali pregiati. Il pavimento, ad esempio, presenta non meno di 50 tipi di legno esotico. Progettato da Espen Øino, Solandge ha un esterno elegante e dalle linee pulite.

Gli interni di Aileen Rodriguez, invece, sono ricchi di servizi stravaganti. La Spa comprende più piscine su diversi ponti, oltre a un hammam e a una sauna. Inoltre, lo yacht dispone di un salone di bellezza dotato di un lavandino e di una gru, nonché di una palestra e di una sala massaggi.

Our yacht operating cost calculator is now on it’s third major revision. We start with actual yacht expense data from our yacht management accountants and then generate formulas to extrapolate out the budget for a wide range of yachts. We have been providing accounting services to large yachts for the past 18 years.

Our operating cost calculator is tuned for yachts from 80 to 600 feet. We find operating variables create the largest variances for yachts smaller than 100 feet and larger than 250 feet. We have tested the numbers the most in the range from 100 to 250 feet.

Our budget calculator factors in the fuel burn for a range of engine sizes typically seen installed on yachts by length. By dragging the green “fuel dockage” slider to the right you will increase the projected fuel burn rate and therefore the budget cost for fuel. Our default position would be for a typical displacement fuel burn. Position the slider in the 60-80% range for fuel projections for planning hulls.

Our default values produce a budget number that we believe is generous to run a yacht to a high standard. Perfect is a very expensive word to use in the yachting industry where standards are already high. Moving the crew and maintenance sliders to 80% will provide an “industry best” quality of crew and give them the maintenance budget to operate to a very high standard. If you need to go over the 80% area then you may have unusually labor intensive equipment on the yacht.

Yes, our yacht operating cost calculator can output a budget suitable for this situation. Adjust the owner use to 2 (minimum value), owner slider to 0, crew slider to 10%, Administration to 10%, Fuel and Dockage to 0, Maintenance to 10% and then Capital Repairs to 0. This will remove all of the large charges associated with owner use and vessel movement but leave the essential base maintenance and insurance in place.

Lift on and float in yacht transport is a popular way to transport yachts across large ocean passage. The yachts that this service certainly applies to are ones that may not have the motoring range or structural integrity for blue ocean cruising. The cost of transporting a yacht twice per year is put into our budget once the “Fuel Dockage” slider hits 75%. If your yacht has the range we recommend self-sufficient ocean passages whenever possible. Whilst the transport companies sell their services based upon reportedly well oiled operated schedules the reality is that your yacht may stay waiting for pickup for a week or more with no compensation due. When factoring in all secondary factors of self-sufficient passages (increased fuel, maintenance, potential storm damage, crew time off, extra delivery crew) compared with transporting your yacht (insurance, potential loading / unloading damage, loss of schedule control, no work whilst underway, crew flights, crew accommodation) we believe that there is a 100% premium associated with float in transport and a 75% premium with lift on transport compared with self-powered.

Abandoned yachts crash in value. We recommend that even if you are trying to sell your yacht that you use the yacht for a minimum of two weeks per year so that systems are tested and working every six months. There is nothing worse for a yacht than not being used. If you truly are not going to use the yacht then you should sell it immediately for the first genuine offer as every dollar you put into maintenance will not be recovered at the time of the sale.

We did not build this version with sailing yachts in mind. Early in our development of this version we decided to exclude sailing yachts as a few of the major cost drivers scale very differently for sailing yachts compared with motor yachts. For example: To calculate paint costs we reviewed the surface area of over 100 large yachts and created a formula for painted surface area to length. Sailing yachts just don’t scale in a consistent way. Similarly crew numbers don’t scale in the same manner that they do for motor yachts. If there is sufficient demand we may build a sailing selector switch into a future version of this tool.

We hate to hear when yacht owners were told by their broker to factor in 10% of the purchase price to operate the yacht. This over used saying is sadly right occasionally (particularly for newer yachts in the $20-30M range)… but just because a broken watch tells the right time twice a day you shouldn’t rely upon it to tell the time. As yachts get older their capital value decreases but their maintenance costs increase. There is no way that a fixed 10% of purchase cost rule can be true… if your broker told you this rule then you need a new yacht broker… we know some good ones. 😊

How Much Does a Yacht Cost?

To know the context for how much does a yacht cost, we define some important terms.

Yacht Terms

• Yacht: A sailing or powered watercraft between 39 and 78 feet in length, accommodating up to 6 guests.
• Superyacht: A luxury yacht ranging in size from 78 to 200 feet in length, accommodating 6 to 12 guests.
• Megayacht: A luxury yacht greater than 200 feet long holding more than a dozen guests.
• Cabin Cruiser : A luxury powered boat between 23 and 38 feet in length.
• Day Sailing Yacht: Small yachts, often with a retractable keel, daggerboard , or centerboard and no cabin.
• Weekender Yacht: Medium-sized yachts, typically up to 31-feet long. Usually, they have lifting keels or twin keels allowing shallow-water operation for two-to-three-day journeys. Normally, weekender yachts have a simple cabin sleeping two to four passengers along with a small galley.
• Cruising Yacht: The most common private yacht, with good handling, onboard comfort, sufficient interior space, and capable performance. Typically, they have a teardrop-planform hull with a deep single-fin keel.
• Luxury Sailing Yacht: Larger yachts powered by wind and engines, with many luxury features.       Typically, yacht makers construct these boats with fiberglass hulls and plenty of automation, lighting, navigation aids, hot water, and more.
• Racing Yachts: Yachts optimized for fast sailing, with heavy and deep bulb keels, tall masts, and large sails.

Average Cost of Yacht

New yachts over 100-feet long have an average price of a yacht equal to $1 million per 3.3 feet in length. In other words, a 100-foot yacht will, on average, cost more than $30 million. Older yachts below 85 feet are less expensive. For example, an 84-foot yacht originally built in 2002 and renovated in 2015 sold for $1.45 million.

The average price of a yacht that is preowned, entry-level, and in the 30 to 35 foot range, is about $100,000.

How much does a superyacht cost.

Superyacht prices are high but variable. For example, the world’s most expensive superyacht (the History Supreme) has a price of $4.5 billion. And at only 100 feet, it is too small to qualify as a megayacht, even though it certainly has a mega-price! On the other hand, a world-famous golfer purchased a 155-foot superyacht for $20 million, a sweet deal. The average price of a superyacht is $275 million.

How Much Does a Megayacht Cost?

The most expensive megayacht, measuring in at 536 feet, cost $1.5 billion. A 1990, 344-foot megayacht can be yours for $210 million. So, the prices of megayachts can vary greatly. In other words, there is no clear answer to how much does a mega yacht cost.

Additional Costs of a Yacht

A few states don’t have sales tax: Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon — and to some extent Alaska. If you buy a yacht in any other state, you’ll owe state sales tax. On a $1 billion yacht purchase, a state like Texas with 6.25% sales tax will collect $62.5 million. You can buy a yacht in a state without sales tax and use it in another state. However, you will eventually have to pay a use tax. Florida caps yacht sales tax at $18,000, but California has no cap.

Municipalities that charge local sales tax could add a percentage point or two to your tax bill.

Most states also assess property taxes on yachts. Marinas may assess a tax on boat slips. Some states will refund fuel taxes on yachts since they don’t use roads.

Yachts with bathroom, eating, and sleeping facilities qualify as second homes. You can deduct the interest on the yacht’s mortgage, but national tax law caps the deduction at $750,000.

A yacht purchased for business purposes is a capital asset that you can depreciate. This would apply to a charter, rental, or fishing yacht that you use to generate income. If you buy a used business yacht for $1 million or less, it might qualify as Section 179 property. If so, you can deduct the full price in the year of purchase.

There are some minor fees you may have to pay when you acquire a boat. For example, you may have to register your yacht with the International Registry, which has fees of $550 to $1,500. Also, you may pay an annual tonnage tax, a ship radio station license fee, and certificate of insurance. Other fees include those for :

• An annual Maritime Security and Compliance fee
• Private Yacht Limited Charter Compliance Certificate
• Minimum Safe Manning Certificate
• Continuous Synopsis Record (CSR) Document
• Annual Yacht Service
• Intended Registration and Vessel Under Construction Registration

Cost Breakdown

When you want to know how much does a yacht cost, you need to know the cost factors. A yacht’s price directly ties to its construction costs, which include:

• Design: The design requires expertise in marine and mechanical engineering. For example, the designers must undertake many stability and hydrodynamic studies. Also, the design must be esthetically pleasing.
• Construction: It can take many months to construct a large yacht. You must factor in materials, equipment, and labor. Luxury-yacht buyers may want expensive and/or rare materials. One yacht, the infamous History Supreme, contains dinosaur fossils and meteorite stone! But less outlandish materials, such as fine woods and precious metals, still contribute to high construction costs.
• Engine: The number and power of yacht engines can greatly impact cost. Naturally, all things being equal, a sailing yacht should cost less than a comparable motor yacht. It requires huge power to propel a large megayacht, and an elaborate engine room to operate those engines.
• Interiors: Large yachts have many rooms, including galleys, heads, bedrooms, meeting rooms and more. In addition, electronics are important cost items.

Mid-level yachts cost about $25 to $35 per pound to build. Higher-level-yachts have average construction costs pf $45 to $65 per pound. The top vessels built with exotic materials and hi-tech systems can cost $80/pound to build.

How much does a 60-foot yacht cost?

A 60-foot yacht is about the largest size that an owner operates. A new Hatteras M60 can easily cost around $3 million. However, you can get a 2007 60-foot Sunreef 62 for $735,000.

How much does a 100-foot yacht cost?

Superyachts in this range contain many amenities. You can buy a new 100-foot AB 100 for just over $8.8 million. But let’s face it, you can spend hundreds of millions on big yachts. Your only limits are your imagination and most importantly, of course, your wallet!

How Much Does a Yacht Cost?

We hear the question, “How much does a yacht cost?” on a regular basis, and it’s a difficult one to answer. Much the same as with houses, the prices vary in a surprising way depending on size, style, age, and finish (not to mention location). We’re talking millions of dollars in price difference for yachts, as well, because there are yachts of many different sizes with all the same variations. But first, let’s tackle the more fundamental question, “What is a yacht?’

What Classifies as a Yacht?

To begin with, a yacht can be a sailing yacht or a motor-powered yacht. Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines it as “any of various recreational watercraft: such as a) a sailboat used for racing; b) a large usually motor-drive craft used for pleasure cruising.” Size is not technically part of the definition, but in modern practice, size has a whole lot to do with it.

Many in the industry classify a boat as a ‘yacht’ from 40 feet up to 70 feet, although there are others who will include vessels as short as 33 feet. Not too many years ago, yachts as small as 80 feet (24 meters) were considered superyachts, but with the proliferation of much larger yachts, 130 feet (40 meters) is a more common yardstick. Beyond that are megayachts, variously defined as beginning at 165 feet (50 meters) or 200 feet (60 meters). 

The point is, there are no hard-and-fast rules, and what may be one person’s pretty little 20-foot sailboat may be another’s luxury sailing yacht. And any shiny, private vessel 40 feet and up will be called a yacht by almost everyone.

While size is the main determining factor in labeling boats as yachts, amenities aboard also play a role. For example, yachts frequently have cabins and heads below allowing for overnight stays, as well as a galley, and plenty of deck space for leisure. 

The term ‘yacht’ has become synonymous with luxury, especially with the boom in huge superyachts across the world. But a yacht doesn’t have to be fancy. A sprightly 30-foot trawler yacht might look to some like a luxury palace, but Jeff Bezos and the guests aboard his brand new $500 million sailing yacht Koru would probably see it differently. 

Cost of Buying a Yacht

Looking for an average price across all types of yachts isn’t helpful either, with sizes of yachts varying from 30 to 300 feet. And that doesn’t take into account whether a boat is new or used.  Broadly speaking, in the United States you can often buy a small used sailing yacht for $15,000 or less, and you can expect that figure to go up to $50,000 or $100,000 for a small motor yacht. A larger motor yacht, or even a new 40-foot day boat, can easily run up to $1 million or more. Superyachts, of course, will cost multiple millions of dollars. 

Cost of Owning a Yacht

The cost of owning a yacht goes far beyond the initial purchase price, and even if you’re in the market for a small yacht, you’ll need to factor in the annual costs which include:

• Marina fees: These will vary depending on your location and the size of the boat. Expect to pay from $5,000 for a yacht at the smallest end of the scale up to tens of thousands for larger yachts.
• Insurance: As a general rule, you can expect to pay around 0.5 percent of the value of the boat annually. Check out our guide to boat insurance for more information. 
• Maintenance and repairs: As a rough estimation you can expect to spend around 10 percent of the value of the boat on upkeep each year. This might be lower if it’s a new yacht.
• Fuel: This will vary depending on how far you cruise and how large the yacht is.
• Crew: Yachts up to 70 or 80 feet often don’t require a crew, but the larger the yacht, the more crew it will need. Crew salaries range from $3,200 per month for junior crew to $10,500 per month for captains and chief engineers. In general, a yacht of 80 to 100 feet in size will require a crew of between two and eight, while yachts between 100 to 200 feet will require between 8 and 20 crew members.
• Depreciation: Brand new boats depreciate the most and the quickest, with most depreciating by 40 to 50 percent of their initial price over the first 8 to 10 years.

Types of Yachts per Cost

When we talk about yachts and their values, we usually refer mostly to the length of the yacht as that tends to be the identifying factor, but the style, engine size, and finish also play a huge role in determining how much they cost. Here we take a look at the average price differences between new and used yachts in the United States at varying sizes. 

How much is a small yacht? (25 to 40 feet)

A small yacht around 40 feet (often referred to as a cabin cruiser) is often considered an entry-level yacht, but a big step up from much smaller day boats. These are likely to have cabins, heads, and a small galley, and most offer the chance to spend weekends onboard. Prices will vary widely depending on whether it’s a used or new boat, and depending on the model, finish, and engines. New and recent-model yachts around 38 to 40 feet may cost anywhere from $250,000 to over $1 million, while the price of older models is often substantially lower. The average price in the United States for all new and used yachts sold between 36 feet to 45 feet was $238,000 according to the Boats Group Market Index of 2022.

When we’re looking at smaller yachts around 25 to 30 feet, these are unlikely to have cabins and so are considered day cruisers. Motor cruisers between 25 and 30 feet range from $70,000 for an almost-new model to well over $100,000 for a brand new one. Of course, yachts with smaller engines and simpler layouts will have considerably lower price tags, but those with premium finish and accommodations may cost much more—for example, a new Ranger 29 (pocket trawler) starts at over $350,000. See our guide to the different types of boats for a better understanding of what is available and what might be right for you. 

How much is a medium-sized yacht? (40 to 70 feet)

Mid-sized yachts that fall within the 40- to 70-foot category vary in price from around $250,000 to well beyond $4 million, a figure that depends on the size, model, finish, engines, and extras, as well as whether it’s a brand new boat or used. According to the Boats Group Market Index of 2022, the average yacht price in the United States of vessels 46 to 55 feet was $467,899 with 2,273 boats sold, while the average price for yachts in the 56 to 79 foot category was $1.18m with 997 sold in 2022. 

Yacht prices vary a lot depending on whether the yacht is new or used. As an example, the base price for a new Viking 58 is $4.1 million, a three-year-old model can be purchased for $3.5 million for, and a 10-year-old model for $600,000. Check out our new and used luxury yachts for sale on Rightboat for more comparisons. 

How much is a sailing yacht?

Long before the combustion engine was invented, yachts (or sailboats) graced our oceans for centuries. While these days we tend to think of yachts as the luxurious motor vessels that far outnumber their sailing counterparts, sailing yachts have their own class. As we’ve seen with motor yachts, the size, age, and finish of a sailing yacht will determine the price tag, with prices ranging from $5,000 to several million dollars—and much more for superyachts. The largest sailing yacht in the world is Sailing Yacht A , which cost an estimated $600 million and measures 470 feet in overall length. 

When referring to larger sailing yachts—and by larger we are talking about 100-foot yacht prices—there is a “rule of thumb” estimate of $1 million per 3 feet in length. So a 100-foot yacht may cost in the region of $30 million. But sliding back down the length ladder, it’s possible to pick up a small, used sailing yacht for a fraction of that. A 55-foot yacht that has been sailing for a few years may sell for around $700,000, whereas a new one could easily retail for $2 million or more. How much is a luxury yacht or superyacht?

Superyachts are some of the most luxurious vessels on the sea, and they don’t come cheap. As mentioned, yachts above 78 feet (24 meters) are accepted by many as superyachts; when they range up over 165 or 200 feet, some in the industry refer to them as megayachts. This term is still debated in some quarters, so you may hear yachts over 300 feet referred to as superyachts too.

Superyachts require a full time crew to manage them, and this adds considerably to the overall cost of running such a large vessel. Given that, how much does a superyacht cost? The costs vary, with some estimates of up to $1 million per foot of length to build a new top-of-the-line custom superyacht. Used superyachts will cost less than a new build, and you may be able to buy a 10-year-old, 90-foot superyacht for around $2.5 million—although most owners will engage in a significant and costly refit every 10 years. How much is a megayacht?

When we reach megayacht status, prices skyrocket along with the length of the vessels and the volume of the interiors. The largest megayacht in the world is currently Azzam, 590 feet long at a cost of $600 million to build. Yachts in this class are the most luxurious in the world, and feature large swimming pools, helicopter pads, huge guest and crew accommodations, beach clubs, and much more. The upkeep of vessels of this size can run to $20 million or more for the crew fees, fuel, mooring fees, insurance, food, and maintenance. Prezzi e Costi per uno Yacht di Lusso

Quanto costa uno yacht? Tutti i diportisti (e non solo) hanno sognato almeno una volta di navigare a largo su uno yacht di lusso, grande abbastanza da dominare i mari e fornito di tutti gli optional. Ma per la maggior parte delle persone, questo resta per l’appunto un sogno , visto i prezzi esorbitanti di queste imbarcazioni esclusive. Eppure la curiosità resta: quanto costano queste enormi barche di lusso ? E se si guardasse invece a uno yacht usato ? Qui vedremo i diversi prezzi in base alla tipologia di imbarcazione e soprattutto in base alla dimensione , per poi prendere in considerazione anche i principali costi di gestione e di manutenzione.

Definizione di yacht

Prima di vedere quanto costa uno yacht, è bene capire quando si può iniziare a parlare di yacht. Con questa parola si tende a indicare qualsiasi imbarcazione di lusso di una certa dimensione. Ma qual è il confine tra semplice barca da diporto e yacht? Non esistono regole assolute, e ci sono barche che, situandosi a metà strada tra i due mondi, possono essere definite in entrambi i modi. É bene però sapere che quando si parla di yacht l’attenzione è posta non solo sulle dimensioni totali della barca, ma anche sullo spazio a disposizione e più in generale di livello di comfort garantito, nonché alla grande cura dei dettagli .

Quanto costa uno yacht?

Dunque, vediamo quale può essere il prezzo di uno yacht. Il tetto massimo, praticamente, non esiste. Lo yacht Dubai , progettato per il principe del Brunei Jefri Bolkiah ma poi acquistato dallo sceicco Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, conta stanze per oltre 90 ospiti e lusso sconfinato , con un prezzo di ben 350 milioni di dollari . Lo yacht di Rowan Abramovich, battezzato Eclipse, costa 1 miliardo e mezzo di dollari. Noi però vogliamo scoprire quanto costano gli yacht “normali”. Ecco, è bene sapere che il prezzo aumenta in modo non proporzionale con la dimensione di queste imbarcazioni: un 50 piedi di un noto cantiere potrebbe per esempio costare 80.000 euro in più del fratello minore da 48 piedi, ma il 52 piedi potrebbe invece costare 150.000 euro in più del modello da 50. Va peraltro detto che il prezzo di vendita è sempre mediamente maggiore per i modelli a motore rispetto a quelli a vela.

Detto questo, gli yacht più piccoli, intesi con misure di poco superiori ai 15 metri , possono essere messi in vendita nuovi a partire dai 600-700 mila euro. Ma questaa tende a essere la base minima per una barca che possa essere definita yacht- Già il Cranchi 56 HT , per esempio, con i suoi 17 metri abbondanti, 3 cabine e 2 bagni, costa più di 1 milione e 100 mila euro.

Guardando ai modelli tra i 18 e i 20 metri, il prezzo si aggira solitamente sul milione e mezzo di euro , mentre oltrepassando la soglia dei 20 si finisce quasi inevitabilmente per superare i 2 milioni, con i modelli da 25 metri che non di rado superano i 4 milioni di euro.

E se volessimo sapere quanto costa un super yacht , così come sono generalmente chiamati gli yacht oltre i 30 metri? Ebbene, qui non ci sono davvero limiti. Si pensi a quello che attualmente è lo yacht più grande tra quelli realizzati da CRN, capace di ospitare 12 persone e con la bellezza di ben 5 ponti: qui siamo o ltre gli 80 milioni di euro

Il prezzo di uno yacht usato

Si è visto che il prezzo degli yacht li rende di fatto irraggiungibili per la grandissima parte delle persone. Si potrebbe quindi accarezzare l’idea di guardare al mercato degli yacht usati. E qui ovviamente le variabili in gioco sono ancora di più. Oltre alle dimensioni, allo spazio a disposizione, alla tipologia di barca e al comfort assicurato entra in gioco anche il fattore età . Detto questo, andando a mettere nel mirino degli yacht non particolarmente recenti è possibile di tanto in tanto individuare delle offerte di yacht di circa 20 – 22 metri a prezzi più accessibili, a partire per esempio da 150.000 euro . Ovviamente qui è necessario calcolare nel modo più preciso possibile quali saranno gli eventuali costi per eventuali riparazioni e per la manutenzione dell’imbarcazione. Non ci sono dubbi: valutare il prezzo esatto di uno yacht usato non è affatto facile, e anche il diportista più informato avrà qualche difficoltà. Meglio quindi affidarsi a un perito navale , che potrà supportare la stima con dei calcoli esatti e partendo da informazioni oggettive.

Gli altri costi da considerare

Nel pensare a quanto costa uno yacht, va sottolineato, è bene non fermarsi sulla sola cifra necessaria per l’acquisto: si parla di barche molto importanti, che in quanto tali presenteranno successivamente delle spese di gestione e di manutenzione altrettanto alte. A quanto ammontano queste spese? Difficile fare una stima precisa su due piedi, ma per comodità si tende spesso a calcolare ogni anno il 10% del costo totale della barca. Si tratta ovviamente di una stima a braccio, ma che ben rende l’idea di quanto oneroso possa essere questo aspetto.

Gli elementi da tenere in considerazione sono davvero tanti. Pensiamo per esempio agli yacht con dimensioni superiori ai 24 o ai 26 metri: qui sarà praticamente obbligatorio poter contare su un equipaggio di professionisti , i quali quindi rappresenteranno un ulteriore costo. Si pensi poi alle normali spese di manutenzione, dall’ antivegetativa per degli scafi enormi per arrivare alla messa a punti dei motori, nonché al fatto che regolarmente ci saranno da sostituire cime , vele e via dicendo. E, visto che si parla di imbarcazioni di lusso, è bene non dimenticare la manutenzione del ponte e degli interni, dalla manutenzione del ponte in teak in poi. Impossibile dimenticare il carburante , avendo a che fare con delle barche molto pesanti, con dei motori ovviamente potenti. E ancora , i costi di ormeggio e di assicurazione di uno yacht sono inevitabilmente superiori – e di parecchio – rispetto a quelli di una normale barca da diporto.

Io penso che con le nuove imbarcazioni sarà tutto dimezzato poiché entro una certa misura sarà possibile ridurre sua la manutenzione ordinaria e gestire anche i carburanti poiché vi stiamo avviando ai motori elettrici e sempre meno velature tradizionali certo i costi x tali yacth saranno superiori ma c’è la qualità dei materiali stessi molto più performanti leggeri e di facile manutenzione….

Buongiorno, certo, la speranza è che il progresso tecnologico possa portare sia a costi di manutenzione minori, sia a consumi più contenuti, aumentando allo stesso tempo anche la sostenibilità ambientale della navigazione.

Since we opened our doors in 2002, United Yacht Sales has worked with thousands of boaters who hold aspirations of owning a yacht. A yacht can mean different things to different people, especially when discussing the difference between intended use such as fishing, day boating, entertaining, and long-distance cruising. Just as there are many applications for how you plan to use your boat, there are also many boat builders working to design the perfect yacht to meet a specific niche in the marketplace. With nearly 1,000 transactions completed each year, United brokers commonly hear the same questions asked as new boaters begin their research into finding the perfect vessel. The yacht's purchase cost isn't the only expense though and other factors need to be considered.

What does it cost to own a yacht? "The cost of ownership for a 60-foot, $1 million yacht is going to be about 10% of its value, or $100,000 per year if it's over ten years old," said Peter Schmidt , Founder of United Yacht Sales. "You can pretty well estimate that for a later model boat of this size, in the Florida market, your general costs are going to be in that range. This would include things like routine maintenance, repairs, dockage, additional supplies, and the cost of either a professional captain or a yacht manager. If it's a newer boat, the annual costs will be less, however preventative maintenance is still very important."

If you're new to boating and this is your first yacht purchase, it makes sense to discuss these questions with your yacht broker:

• Where do you plan to keep your yacht?
• Are you going to run the boat yourself or will you need a captain?

How much does it cost to maintain a yacht?

• How much does it cost to fuel your yacht?
• Is buying a yacht a good investment?

The answers to these questions vary with many factors influencing the cost of each. Simply the location of where you plan to keep and use your yacht can raise or lower your monthly spend to keep your boat maintained in the best possible condition.

How much does it cost to store a yacht at a marina?

One of the first and most important questions to answer before you buy a yacht revolves around storage. If you own a water-front home with a dock big enough to safely store your yacht, the savings are substantial. However, if you plan on keeping your vessel at a marina, those costs need to be included in your annual budget. United Yacht broker Christopher Cooke  owns his own yacht management company and often helps his clients find a space at a marina. "The cost of keeping your yacht at a marina really varies by location," said Chris. "You are charged per foot, but that cost can change not only depending on what county you're in, but also how many amenities are at the marina."

"In Florida, the marinas in Martin County for example, can be half the cost of Miami-Dade," continued Christopher. "It really all depends on your boating plans, where you live, and how far you're willing to travel to be at your boat."

Sailfish Marina of Stuart is a popular yacht storage facility in Martin county that is the closest marina to the St. Lucie Inlet also with accommodations for a 60-foot and over boat. There is a fuel dock at the marina as well as a tackle shop.  If you purchase a slip for a full year on an annual contract, the cost is $20-$22 per foot of your "Length Overall" . This is important, because while some boats might be called a "60", they may very well be 62 feet in length and cost more. Additionally, if you want electricity, water, and waste removal, it can cost you an extra $175 per month for one 50amp line.

Just 40 miles to the south, in the heart of Palm Beach County, sits Palm Harbor Marina. With over 200 slips, some of which can accommodate a 250-foot superyacht and state-of-the-art Marinetek concrete floating docks, the cost is much higher. Using the same example of a 60-foot cruising yacht, the cost of storage is approximately $5,760 per month, along with a $500 per month utilities fee. "With a place like Palm Harbor Marina, boaters are paying for the amenities and the location," continued Chris. Palm Harbor Marina features a yacht club with a hospitality bar and media center, a complete fitness center, game room, deli, concierge, as well as being right next to the best restaurants and nightlife in Palm Beach.

"For a yacht that's 60-feet, later model year, and with average usage, you can expect to pay $60,000 per year in preventative maintenance costs ," said Cooke. "And by average use I mean 150-200 hours per year. But that's assuming nothing goes wrong and has to be replaced. Typically you're looking at $4 per foot to have someone dive it, another $4 per foot to have it washed regularly, and then another $1,000 or so to go through and do a full systems check. These costs can definitely vary though depending on the boat and location. Because of inflation with the price of materials and labor, these costs have really gone up over the last 2 years." 

The best advice Christopher has for boat owners of this size is to hire a yacht management company. Yacht Management companies often oversee anywhere from 10 to 50 boats at any one time, Christopher currently has 30. The yacht manager will ensure the boat is clean, all systems checked like transmission and generators, the running gear checked, oil changes are done, and that nothing is starting to fail. Preventative maintenance can save thousands of dollars in the long run of yacht ownership and will end up paying for itself. Many yacht owners have work or other hobbies that take their time away from being able to devote to the proper maintaining of their vessel. The result can be negligence in the upkeep of the boat, causing systems to fail, and end in more costly repair bills. If you're going to spend the money on a nice yacht, a yacht management company is a smart choice.

How much does it cost to insure a yacht?

Joshua Giordano of Global Marine Insurance Agency is no stranger to insuring boats from New York to Florida. In fact, In fact, with over 20 years in the marine industry Joshua offers a unique understanding of marine insurance as it pertains to personal watercraft, boats, and yachts. This knowledge and experience allows him to find the best boat & yacht insurance at the best price.

"We get asked all of the time how much it costs to insure a yacht and the answer is it really depends on where you live and keep the yacht," says Joshua. "For a 60-foot yacht in the Northeast, you're looking at between $6,000 and $8,000 per year for insurance. Come down to Florida and that same boat is going to be $10,000 to $12,000 to insure assuming it's for private use only. If you plan to put your vessel into a yacht charter program in Florida, then costs go up $14,000 per year."

How much does it cost to fill a yacht with fuel?

Trying to budget your annual expense for fuel can be difficult. Not only do some yachts have larger fuel capacities, but their fuel burn and range can also vary. This also then dependent upon how much you use your boat and how hard you will be running the engines. Cruising at lower rpm's at around an 8-10 knot speed can mean better fuel efficiency with longer running times between trips to get more fuel.

Assuming your 60-foot yacht has a fuel capacity 1,200 gallons and with an average fuel price of $5.50, and it will cost $6,600 to fill up. For new boaters, it's really difficult to gauge how much fuel you might use in a year and only personal experience and time on the water can help narrow down that annual cost.

Fuel costs per location also can change depending on where you are boating. The Waterway Guide offers up-to-date pricing on fuel at major marinas through the United States. For example, diesel fuel in Jacksonville, Florida is currently ranging from $5.40 to $5.90 depending on which marina you stop at. In comparison, stopping for diesel in the Florida Keys will start at $4.90 and could be as high as $5.30 per gallon.

Can you finance a yacht?

Finacing a yacht is very common," says Shana White with OceanPoint Marine Lending. "There are many attractive programs out there that can be tailored to fit the bueyer's needs. The boat loan approval process usually takes between 24 and 48 hours to receive an answer." Things like your income-to-debt ratio, credit score, credit history, and asset verification all go into whether or not a bank will loan you the money for a yacht.
