7 Best Character Breakfasts at Walt Disney World

character breakfast at disney yacht club

Character breakfasts are a fun way to meet many characters at once while enjoying a delicious meal. Instead of standing in line to meet your favorite characters at the parks, they come right to your table to sign autographs and take pictures. There are dozens of character meals available at Walt Disney World inside the four theme parks and at various resorts around the WDW property. Here’s our list of the top character breakfasts at Walt Disney World in 2024.

7. Cape May Cafe —Disney’s Beach Club Resort

This character breakfast is a hidden gem at the Beach Club side of Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort. Join Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Daisy as they prepare for a day at the beach at Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast. The characters are decked out in retro beachwear while you dine on a traditional American breakfast buffet. This small restaurant allows the characters to spend plenty of time with you, and reservations are easier to get than other character breakfasts. The breakfast menu features breakfast buffet staples like Mickey waffles, egg dishes, pancakes, french toast, and an omelet and carving station. Don’t forget to try their famous salted caramel “beach buns,” which are brought to your table when you’re seated.

6. Tusker House—Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Tusker House is home to the only character dining at Animal Kingdom. During this safari-themed adventure, adventure-clad Donald Duck hosts friends Mickey and Goofy at an African marketplace. The breakfast buffet features traditional American favorites and African flavors like Safari bread, Zebra coffee cake, and Simba waffles.

5. ‘Ohana Best Friends Breakfast — Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

This restaurant is all about family. Breakfast selections are served on huge family-style platters with Mickey waffles, bacon, ham and pineapple, eggs, and more. You’ll be visited by Lilo, Stitch, and friends like Mickey and Pluto. The Hawaiian-themed restaurant also offers beautiful views of Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom.

4. Hollywood & Vine— Hollywood Studios

Hollywood and Vine is the only place on Disney property where you can dine with Disney Junior characters. During the Disney Junior Play n’ Dine breakfast, your little one will enjoy visits from Disney Junior stars like Doc McStuffins, Roadster Racer Goofy, Fancy Nancy, and Vamprinia. The breakfast buffet is traditional American fare with omelet stations, Mickey waffles, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, pastries, and even a breakfast taco station. It’s a great way to start your day if you’re visiting Hollywood studios with preschoolers.

There is a separate character dining experience at Hollywood & Vine for lunch and dinner. The lunch and dinner buffet features interactions with Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and Daisy with theming that changes every season.

3. Chef Mickey’s—Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Chef Mickey’s is one of the most popular and well-known character breakfasts at WDW. Located on the main floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, this open-air feeling restaurant offers floor-to-ceiling views of Bay Lake, Seven Seas Lagoon, and the Magic Kingdom resort area. For an extra treat, you’ll see the monorail zoom above your head as you dine. You’ll greet the Fab 5 (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto) in chef’s attire. This is another staple WDW breakfast buffet that features classic American breakfast dishes (and, of course, Mickey waffles). The Magic Kingdom is only a short monorail ride away, so this is a great dining location to enjoy before a day at the park. Plus, you’ll save time on character meet and greets once in the park since you already met them at breakfast!

Chef Mickey’s is also available for dinner reservations.

2. Akershus Royal Banquet Hall —EPCOT

Tucked into the Norway Pavilion, Akershus provides enchanted princess dining for breakfast and dinner. Akershus offers a suitable alternative to the princess dining available at Cinderella’s Royal Table at Magic Kingdom and generally has more reservation availability. Princesses that may stop by include Belle, Jasmine, Tiana, Snow White, Aurora, and Ariel. Breakfast options are much more kid-friendly than the traditional Norwegian feast available at lunch and dinner. The menu includes breakfast pastries, potato casseroles, bacon, sausage, and Norwegian-style waffles.

1. Topolino’s Terrace – Disney’s Riviera Resort

Breakfast á la Art is our favorite character breakfast at the parks! This character dining experience is also a favorite with many of our clients, which makes it our top pick. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy are dressed in stunning outfits that pay tribute to European artists like painters, poets, and dancers. The restaurant’s rooftop location offers impressive views of WDW property, and the prix fixe menu includes European-style pastries, quiches, and waffles. Reservations are limited for this dining experience, so contact your Wishing On A Star Travel® advisor if you’re interested in this dining location for your next Walt Disney World vacation!

How to Book Cape May Café Reservation

Restaurant Logo

Cape May Café is a trendy restaurant, so you'll want to be sure you snag a reservation as early as possible. While our review reflects the character experience, it is also open for dinner. Breakfast is served from 7:30-11:30 am and dinner from 5:00-9:00 pm. If you're curious about other character breakfasts, we have all you need to know in our Disney World character dining guide.

If you don't get a reservation right away, don't panic! Reservations open up regularly, so be persistent and check the My Disney Experience app regularly. You can get lucky and find a reservation that meets your needs! From our experience, the character breakfast is usually more challenging to book, so keep that in mind while planning. Note that the characters do not come out during the dinner service.

Pricing, as with all character meals, is certainly not inexpensive. Breakfast prices are as follows:

  • $47 per adult, plus taxes and gratuity
  • $30 per child, plus taxes and gratuity

For dinner, prices are as follows:

  • $27 per child, plus taxes and gratuity

Cape May Café Restaurant Vibe

character breakfast at disney yacht club

The restaurant is located just off the lobby and showcases a soft color palette with soothing beach vibes. You can expect to see many soft whites, creams, and coral colors. You'll also notice many beach touches and nods to a turn-0f-the-century coastal resort. While it's not the biggest restaurant, it is undoubtedly decently sized, with many seating options for small and large parties. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the recently refreshed colors and decor.

Cape May Café Review - booth

The restaurant comprises one large general seating area with the main buffet in the center. However, a small overflow room is located just behind the hostess area. While the decor is just as lovely in there, it does feel a bit tucked away and removed from the action, so if that is a problem for you, it's fair to request a seat in the main dining area.

Cape May Café Review - buffet

Upon entering, you'll also notice a make-your-own omelet station. This was a nice perk, and the lines were never too long. They offered lots of toppings and mix-ins, so make the perfect omelet!

Cape May Café Review: Meal Experience

Upon arriving at your table, you'll find an adorable keepsake postcard with all the characters you'll meet during the experience. We find touches like this lovely, especially given the hefty price tag!

Cape May Café Review - postcard

You can choose from various beverages, including coffee, orange juice, milk, and guava juice. If you're a fan of ‘Ohana, you'll instantly recognize that the guava juice is also the Pog juice from that restaurant!

We also need to mention the famous Salted Caramel “Beach Buns.” These were brought out to the table right away and were delicious! They're served with a warm vanilla sauce that oozes down the yummy bread. Once we had a bite, we knew it would be hard to resist!

Cape May Café Review - bread

The waiter clarified that you won't have to worry about getting up to go and meet any of the characters. Instead, she explained that the characters would make regular rounds and go to each table. While you hear this a lot for character meals, we were pleasantly surprised that this was indeed the case. All of the characters made sure to get to each table. More on that later!

Cape May Café Food Review

Let's talk food! After all, this is still a meal, and while we were excited about the characters, we were also hungry and were looking forward to a filling meal before hitting the parks.

Cape May Café is a buffet-style restaurant that allows you to eat all you care to enjoy. When you look online, you won't find the menus too helpful as buffet selections can change, but it does give you an idea. The breakfast menu can be found here, and dinner here .

We found the offerings to be plenty. Since it was a breakfast service, we anticipated the usual eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. However, we were also happy to see a fruit and yogurt bar and some unique breakfast options, such as breakfast tacos and crêpes!

Cape May Café Review - classic food

Enjoy the sights of the buffet!

Cape May Café Review - biscuits

And lastly, yes, there were Mickey and Minnie waffles! We may have eaten more than we care to share, but they were so good and always fresh! Upon seating, the syrup was brought to the table, so you never went without it.

Cape May Café Review - mickey waffles

Now for the quality and taste. Did we find that the food was good? Yes! Again, breakfast options only go so far, but the food was delicious. All the options were fresh and warm and did not feel like they had been sitting for a while. We noticed that the serving platters were turned regularly, which helped keep it tasting fresh.

Drinks were also refilled very quickly! They are also all you care to enjoy, so it was nice not to have to worry about rationing any of that delicious guava juice!

We did not try the omelet station, but the smells from the station were delicious and popular. This leads us to believe that they were just as good. We did not have enough space in the tummy after those mickey waffles!

Cape May Café Review Disney Characters

Alright, now for the fun! This is a character experience, after all. After being seated, the first character only took about 15 minutes to reach our table. Up first, we met Donald Duck! Dressed in his beach attire, he was fun to interact with and happy to pose for pictures!

Donald Duck

Honestly, this is where we felt the magic. We noticed that not once did any of the characters feel rushed. Each time, we decided when it was time for them to move on after pictures and some fun “conversation.” We've experienced other character experiences that felt rushed, so this was a refreshing pace.

Up next, Minnie made her way over to us! This was when we noticed all the characters wore the outfits we first saw in the souvenir postcard waiting at our table. We had a lot of fun seeing the looks come to life before us! Minnie was a lot of fun and also spent plenty of time at our table and posed for as many pictures as we wanted.

Minnie Mouse Disney World

Daisy soon followed, and we also had much fun with her. It's neat to see their different personalities come out and compare how they engaged with us. We found Daisy to be very playful and a bit spicy!

Daisy Duck at Disney World

They might have saved the best for last. Our last meeting was with Goofy! Once we got over how tall(!) he was, we had a great time with him. Goofy is such a character and really knows how to start the party! After he chatted with us and took many photos, we saw him create a “surfing” party with the little ones. Music was cued, and seeing the young at heart showing off their imaginary surf skills was adorable!

Goofy at Disney World

We appreciated the constant but well-timed flow of meet and greets. In just about an hour, we met all the characters and enjoyed a great meal. We had about 10 minutes or so between each character interaction, so we also never felt that we needed to eat quickly. Considering that neither of the characters had cast members guiding them, we were impressed with the easy flow!

Cape May Café Review: Was it Worth it?

Crepes and desserts

This one is easy. We give this a firm yes! The Cape May Café character breakfast is definitely worth it. Not only do you get to enjoy a wonderful meal, but you cannot beat the opportunity to meet lots of your favorite Disney pals. This alone is so worth it, considering that you can sometimes wait hours in line to meet the fun pals. This is how we can easily see that this experience gives you lots of bang for your buck.

We also must say that if you happen to be staying at the resort, it's incredibly convenient to walk down into the lobby and enjoy a wonderful meal. While no one we saw was in pajamas, we definitely saw some hotel guests come down in their comfy outfits! It's also convenient not to travel far for a meal before hitting the park. In this case, given its proximity to EPCOT, it's the perfect meal.

Overall, we were incredibly pleased with our experience and recommend it!

Cape May Café Review: FAQ's

Cape May Café offers Minnie's Beach Bash Breakfast with characters, but the seafood dinner option does not include characters.

The buffet is finally back at Cape May Café! While it was closed for some time, you can now enjoy a full buffet at Cape May Café.

Yes! Cape May Café includes complimentary non-alcoholic drinks. Alcoholic drinks are available for purchase.

Cape May Café has Minnie, Daisy, Donald, and Goofy throughout the character breakfast.

While this is up to discretion, it is the norm that you tip your waiter at a buffet under the same standards as regular restaurants.

Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast Review

In this review, I will take you through my full experience at Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast at Disney’s Beach Club Resort . 🤩

We’ll talk about the location, what you need to know for reservations, the vibe and theming that set the scene, the characters that drop by your table, the wide array of tasty eats on the buffet, and, of course, the cost.

Let’s break down what makes this breakfast a must-do (or not) for your Disney day.

Kim taking a selfie with Daisy Duck, who is dressed in a blue dress adorned with a sash and a flower accent, at the Cape May Cafe character breakfast.

Cape May Cafe is perfectly positioned right off the lobby at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. Staying at one of the EPCOT area resorts? Planning to explore EPCOT and enjoy all its top rides for the day? Then you’re in luck.

The front entrance of Disney's Beach Club Resort featuring its iconic pale blue façade with white trim, expansive windows, and a classic, white-gabled portico. A beautifully manicured garden with vibrant pink flowers and well-kept shrubbery adds to the welcoming charm of the resort.

This restaurant is just a quick 5-6 minute walk from the International Gateway , the back entrance to EPCOT that drops you right into the World Showcase. It’s super convenient for a relaxed start to a day packed with Disney adventures. Imagine strolling over after a delicious breakfast with some of your favorite characters. Sounds like a great plan, right?

Reservation

If you’re eyeing the character breakfast at Cape May Cafe, you’ll be happy to know it’s one of the easiest reservations to snag at Walt Disney World. Reservations open up as early as 60 days in advance. The easiest way to book is through the My Disney Experience app .

And for those spontaneous moments, the restaurant often has availability on the Walk-Up List . This is a great way to get into a character meal without a reservation.

During my stay at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, I hopped on the Walk-Up List right at their opening time of 7:30 AM. As an early riser, I was pleased to get a table right away. It’s perfect for adding a bit of unplanned magic to your day.

Atmosphere/Theming

This wasn’t my first time at Cape May Cafe. I’ve dined here for breakfast previously when characters weren’t around. I had also dined here the night before for dinner, so I was quite familiar with the New England seaside theming . 🌊

The decor strikes a soothing note with soft muted tones on the walls, painted in gentle shades of pink and blue. Some of the floorings in the restaurant resemble sand with seashells scattered throughout, enhancing the beachy feel. 🐚

Also located in the dining area, you’ll find sandcastle displays . The decor also incorporates muted-colored beach umbrellas to enhance the seaside vibe.

Inside Cape May Cafe, a detailed sandcastle stands on display, adding a touch of seaside whimsy to the dining experience. Its intricate turrets and arches are reminiscent of a storybook beach scene.

Hanging on the walls are vintage children’s outfits and murals depicting nostalgic scenes of people and children playing on the beach.

Guests dining at Cape May Cafe with pastel-colored, beach-themed murals on the walls, creating a serene and playful dining environment that complements the New England seaside atmosphere of the restaurant.

Near my breakfast table were displays of croquet mallets . This brings to mind images of old-fashioned beachside recreation. 🏏

Each design element has been thoughtfully selected to transport you to a bygone era of leisurely seaside escapes. Cape May Cafe blends history with the relaxed, playful atmosphere of a beach getaway.

The characters at Cape May Cafe know how to dress for a beach party, and they’re the heart of the fun at Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast!

Minnie Mouse is dazzling in her striped dress with shades of pink, purple, and blue, topped with a chic hat that’s just right for the beach. She looks like she’s ready for a fun day hanging around the shore. 🌸

Goofy is impossible to miss in his bright orange T-shirt with a big sandcastle on the front. His blue swim trunks are just the thing you’d wear to jump in the waves and his blue hat? It’s pure Goofy—fun and ready for the sun. 🌞

Goofy in his beach attire, with a playful orange shirt featuring a sandcastle design, blue swim shorts, and a coordinating blue bucket hat, posing with a hand on his hip and the other on his hat at the Cape May Cafe character breakfast.

Donald Duck is decked out in his seaside best with a fun shirt that’s covered in shells, palm trees, and umbrellas with a striped shirt underneath. His straw hat adds the perfect beach touch to his look. 🐚

Daisy is charming in her light blue dress with beautiful embroidery. Her striped bow adds just the right splash of color, making her outfit as bright and cheerful as a day by the water. 🎀

Daisy Duck is striking a pose at Cape May Cafe, wearing a light blue dress with ornate embroidery and a colorful striped bow, bringing a dash of elegance to the character breakfast.

At Cape May Cafe, the characters bring the beach vibe to life! All of the characters were super friendly and ready to pose and give hugs! 🤗

Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy not only dress in their beachy best but also add to the fun with a little pretend surfing action during your meal. It’s fun to watch, and it’s moments like these that make the breakfast experience at Cape May Cafe something to remember. 🏄‍♂️

Menu Overview

At Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast, you’re in for an all-you-can-eat buffet extravaganza. Everything on the buffet is included, except for specialty drinks, which I’ll get into a little later.

To kick things off, your server will present a basket of the cafe’s famous Salted Caramel “Beach Buns,” served with a side of vanilla cream – they’re as delicious as they sound! (Take a peek at the postcard in the photo below. It’s a cute keepsake that you can take home, complete with signatures from all the characters on the back!) ✉️

Specialty Items

As you move along the buffet, you’ll also find a section that’s all about bright and savory flavors. Poached eggs are up for the taking, nestled on potato hash for a classic combination with a twist. 🍳

Then, there’s the vibrant tofu scramble with a mix of veggies for those looking for a plant-based option. 🌿

And for a touch of indulgence, drizzle some rich Hollandaise sauce over your eggs or asparagus. It’s these little luxuries that make the buffet at Cape May Cafe a standout. 🥄

Last but not least, the omelet station ! This is where you can go wild with your choice of fillings, or keep it simple—whatever floats your boat.

Now, let’s take a look at my plate, I loaded up on a bit of everything to kick off my breakfast feast. I started with a classic combo: creamy and delicious grits, alongside scrambled eggs and crispy bacon. Grits have this comforting, creamy texture that just pairs perfectly with the savory flavors of eggs and bacon. It’s a Southern staple that always hits the spot.

But the real star of the show? That was the steak and eggs on a flour tortilla . It was a recommendation from my waitress, and boy, was she right! I went back for seconds… It quickly became my favorite dish of the morning. 🥓🍳🥩🌯

Is Cape May Cafe Character Breakfast Worth It?

If you’re staying at Disney’s Beach or Yacht Club Resorts then without a doubt it is definitely worth it!!

If you are staying at any of the other EPCOT resorts like BoardWalk Resort or if EPCOT is on your agenda for the day, I think the Cape May Cafe character breakfast is definitely worth checking out! 🌟

The buffet is packed with a huge variety, from your beloved breakfast classics to special treats like the rare Minnie waffles. Plus, it’s one of the easier character dining reservations to snag last minute at Walt Disney World.

When it comes to cost, it’s actually a bit cheaper than Chef Mickey’s, another popular character breakfast spot. So, if you’re watching your vacation budget, Cape May Cafe offers a bit of a break without skimping on the fun or the food. 💰

Overall, between the tasty buffet, the ease of booking, and the slightly lower price tag, Cape May Cafe scores big points in my book. It’s especially appealing if you love the charm and convenience of its Beach Club Resort location—perfect for getting an early start at EPCOT or just enjoying a leisurely morning without the rush.✨

Got questions about dining at Cape May Cafe? You’re not alone!

Whether it’s your first time visiting or you’re a seasoned Disney diner, it’s always good to know the ins and outs before you go. Below, I’ve answered some of the most common questions about Cape May Cafe to help you plan your perfect breakfast or dinner experience.

No, there’s no strict dress code for dining at Cape May Cafe for breakfast. The atmosphere is quite casual, reflecting its seaside theme. You’ll be perfectly fine in comfortable, park-appropriate attire—think t-shirts, shorts, and sneakers, which are ideal for a day spent exploring Disney afterward. However, it’s always good to avoid clothing with offensive graphics or language, swimwear, and items that might be too revealing. Basically, wear what you’d feel comfortable in for a family-friendly environment!

Breakfast at Cape May Cafe is typically available from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM . This gives you a generous window of time to enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. It’s a great way to start your day, especially if you plan to head into EPCOT or explore other areas of Walt Disney World afterward. Plan to spend at least an hour to give you time to enjoy the food and for the characters to make their rounds.

No, you don’t need park tickets to dine at Cape May Cafe. It’s located inside Disney’s Beach Club Resort, not within a park, so anyone can book a reservation there regardless of whether they have park tickets. This makes it a convenient option for a character breakfast even on days when you’re not visiting the parks.

The Wrap-Up

Wrapping up, breakfast at Cape May Cafe isn’t just about filling up on good food—it’s about creating memorable moments right from the start of your day. 🌟 Set in the charming atmosphere of Disney’s Beach Club Resort, this spot offers you the chance to dine with Minnie and friends, making it a hit for both kids and adults. 🍴🎉

Located conveniently for those visiting EPCOT or staying at nearby resorts, it offers a menu that hits all the right notes, whether you’re in the mood for a hearty plate of steak and eggs or just some fresh fruit and yogurt. 🥓🍓

The unique combination of easy reservations, fun character interactions, and a diverse buffet makes it worth the splurge! So, if you’re looking to sprinkle a little extra magic on your Disney day, the Cape May Cafe character breakfast might just be the perfect spot to start. I know I will be back!! ✨

Disney Yacht Club from across the water

Dining at the Disney Yacht Club is the ideal blend of upscale and convenient, with plenty of options. Fitting with the feel of the resort, the dining locations have that county club vibe, even the quick service spots. All the while, the food is high quality and delicious!

The Disney Yacht Club also shares a few of our favorite dining locations with its sister, the Disney Beach Club . Get the best of both worlds with dining at this resort, Yacht Club providing class and Beach Club providing fun.

  • The Market at the Ale & Compass

Ale & compass restaurant, yachtsman steakhouse, shared dining with the disney beach club.

Beaches & Cream Soda Shop

The galley is always open – disney resorts room service.

Enjoy a meal in the quiet and privacy of your own room with the Disney Resorts Room Service, excellent food options delivered right to your door. Just press “Dining Options” on your in-room phone, place an order, and the food comes to you.

At the Yacht Club, you’ll find typical Disney food options along with some nautical favorites, fitting with the theme of the resort. A delicious lobster and corn chowder or yummy local baked fish are perfect for seafood-lovers, or splurge on a fabulous Maine lobster roll. If you prefer landlubber cuisine, a brick lemon-herb chicken or a bacon cheeseburger will match your tastes. Buffalo wings and fries are always a good choice too if you need something quick and simple. Kids have plenty of their favorite options as well, like chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers.

There are also some awesome dessert options on the menu! If you missed the chance to hit Beaches & Cream, you can order ice cream up to your room. You can even get an entire cake to share, which is nice for a special occasion.

An 18% gratuity, $5.00 delivery charge and 6.5% sales tax will apply to all delivery orders.

The Market at Ale & Compass

Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, The Market at Ale & Compass is the main quick service dining option at the Disney Yacht Club. Simply referred to as The Market , you can get a fast and filling meal any time of the day, and take a few minutes to peruse the souvenirs in the adjoining shop.

Especially if you’re in a hurry, The Market is a great place to take advantage of Mobile Order . This awesome service allows you to use the My Disney Experience app to order ahead at quick service locations. That means your food will be ready when you arrive! Pick up your food as you walk in, and head right back out, or stay and enjoy your meal. Either way, it will save you the time of waiting for the food to be prepared.

The Market at Ale & Compass

One of our go-to items at any quick service location is the Breakfast Bowl, with scrambled eggs, a Mickey waffle, bacon, and potato barrels (tater tots). I like to get these sorts of combo meals because they are easy to split, and definitely filling. A top tip is to avoid overeating, especially at breakfast, so splitting this meal is ideal. Also available, try different breakfast sandwiches and a healthier egg-white wrap if you want something of your own. Plain Mickey waffles are always a delicious option!

Snacks are well stocked at The Market, so pick up fruit, yogurt, or milk and cereal if you like to breakfast light. Plenty of yummy treats await you at the bakery as well, the chocolate-hazelnut croissant being one of my breakfast favorites.

Don’t forget to fill your mug with coffee, juice, tea, or milk!

Lunch and Dinner

For these times, a variety of hot or cold sandwiches and salads make for nice, light meals. The Cuban sandwich is one of the most popular hot items, with ham, slow-roasted pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, mayonnaise, and mustard all on a hoagie roll served with house-made chips. You can also grab a foot-long chili-cheese hotdog, similar to the gourmet hotdogs served at the Beach Club Marketplace.

Cold sandwiches are great to grab in the morning to take to the parks, or to bring out to eat by the pool. You could even pick one up before you leave, giving you a portable lunch if you’re driving home. Among these are the roast beef sandwich, slices of roast beef topped with horseradish cream, caramelized onions, and arugula all on multigrain bread. Vegetarians will love the roasted vegetable sandwich with roasted Portobello mushrooms, zucchini, red bell peppers, and cauliflower dressed with roasted red pepper hummus, topped with slices of fresh tomatoes and grilled onion served on herb Focaccia bread. Both sandwiches come with house-made chips.

Other Options

Kids have the additional options of grilled cheese, macaroni and cheese, a ham sandwich, and an Uncrustable. The children’s meals come with a choice of sides and beverage, making these items a great deal.

The bakery is open all day, so don’t forget to snag something sweet! Sticky buns, chocolate twists, and brownies are all amazing. The bakery also has seasonal cupcakes , each with their own amazing flavor profile and fun decoration!

In the evening, stop by The Market for a variety of beer and wines, which you can enjoy there or take back to your room. If you want something to go, I suggest getting a bottle of wine rather than wine by the glass. You’ll have it for your whole trip, and get more value for your dollar.

There are two main lounges at the Disney Yacht Club – the Ale & Compass Lounge and the Crew’s Cup Lounge. Both are excellent places to relax in the evening, and enjoy a delicious beverage. These are both full bars, so only overage guests are permitted.

The Ale & Compass Lounge

Grab a drink while you wait for your Ale & Compass reservation, or simply lounge in the relaxed atmosphere. The Ale & Compass Lounge is ideal for a relaxing evening or quick bite, all while enjoying a refreshing drink. Opening at 4:00pm and staying open until 10:00pm, this lounge is a great place for an evening hangout.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Monica Glenn (@ftjtravelbymonica)

Healthy-sized appetizers comprise the food options, giving you filling snacks or lighter meals, depending on your plans. Items like the Parker House rolls with assorted spreads – bacon jam, pub cheese, and citrus butter – are great if you just want something to nibble while you drink. Flatbreads and a bacon cheeseburger are perfect for dinner in the lounge, both options are full sized meals.

In addition to the full-bar offerings, the Ale & Compass Lounge has several original cocktails. A twist on a class, the Maple Old Fashioned will give you that New England feeling. Made with Jim Beam Black Extra-aged Bourbon, maple syrup, orange juice, and angostura bitters, this is a great way to change up your regular. For those in a spicy mood, try the Spicy Pomegranate Margarita. Mix Tequila, Ancho Reyes Chile liqueur, pomegranate juice, and simple syrup together to create a zesty and delicious cocktail! A squirt of fresh lime juice on the top adds a bit of tang and cuts the heat.

Enjoy nonalcoholic mixers as well, like a grapefruit spritzer and the No-Kick Mule, just with ginger beer and lime.

Crew’s Cup Lounge

Outside the Yachtsman Steakhouse, the Crew’s Cup Lounge is a nice alternative if you can’t get a reservation at the steakhouse. The Crew’s Cup is also a good place for one of those appetizer as dinner nights, when you’re up to your ears in delicious (but rich!) Disney food.

On the appetizer menu, share a savory and delightful charcuterie and cheese board, coming with different accompaniments depending on the season. For something a little more substantial, the prime rib sliders are perfect, topped with horseradish cream and served on house-made onion rolls. Jumbo shrimp cocktail are always a great option as well, a light snack with just enough protein to get you to your next meal. Have the shrimp with the Yachtsman signature bread to round out a meal.

Crew’s Cup also offers full entrees, so you can add this to your dinner spot list. After 5:00pm, you can get an amazing ten-ounce prime rib, served with mashed potatoes and horseradish cream. For something a little different, try the Twice-fried Green Circle Chicken. Smoked Feta spoon bread and chicken croquettes come with pickled rhubarb and fiddlehead ferns, an interesting take on fried chicken.

You’ll come for the food, but stay for the drinks! Along with an extensive beer, wine, and bourbon selection, Crew’s Cup offers a large variety of signature cocktails. Literally Walk the Plank with an amazing blend of rye whiskey, orange juice, almond liqueur, and lemon juice garnished with Maraschino cherries. Combine the elements of country and tropical vacation with a Whiskey Breeze – Jim Beam Black Extra-aged Bourbon, Cointreau, and lime juice shaken with guava and mango for that aloha vibe. You could also choose to drink your dessert with the Godiva Chocolate Martini. A divine concoction, this martini mixes Godiva chocolate liqueur, Stoli Vanil vodka, Bols White Crème de Cacao, and Frangelico. This sweet treat will warm you from the inside out!

Available for breakfast and dinner, the Ale & Compass Restaurant is a great option for a nice family meal. Especially if you’re looking for a quality table service breakfast, you have to try out the Ale & Compass!

Think breakfast favorites, with an upgrade. The American Breakfast has the right balance of breakfast foods – two eggs any-style, breakfast potatoes, and choice of breakfast meats. Eggs benedict get the added decadence of smoked pork loin, along with herbs and spices in the hollandaise sauce.

While these dishes are amazing, the quick bread breakfast items change the game. No plain French toast here, but instead, we see salted-caramel apple French toast. Two massive pieces of French toast, sliced horizontally, and stuffed with delicious caramel apples. A buttery brown sugar crumble and salted-caramel drizzle tops the slices, completing the picture. However, that isn’t the end. The Dark Chocolate Waffles are to die for! Three thick, circular waffles hold a dried cherry compote, on top of which sits huge dollops of espresso-mascarpone cream, finished with chocolate shavings. It’s a good thing these richly incredible waffles come with a side of breakfast meat to cut through the sweet deliciousness!

Kid’s Meals

For your kiddos, they can get their favorites Mickey waffles or blueberry pancakes if in the mood for something sweet. Scrambled eggs and a mini-breakfast sandwich are great options if they want a savory dish instead.

As always, I recommend splitting an adult meal between two kids. Especially if they want to try something like the chocolate waffles or the French toast, the split is perfect. It actually works out to be cheaper than a kid’s meal!

Ale & Compass does specialty brunches for Easter and Mother’s Day, a great way to treat yourself or Mom! Going to be dining at the Disney Yacht Club during these holidays? You might want to consider an Ale & Compass brunch.

A great mix of surf and turf, Ale & Compass has a dinner menu that will please everyone in your group. To start your meal, try the amazing lobster and corn chowder or roasted garlic shrimp, both coming with house-made items to dip. Smaller plates are available in the form of salads and flatbreads, both meat and vegetables options to fit all dietary needs.

Of the main plates, our favorites would have to be the New England Seafood Pot Pie, braised short ribs, and the brick lemon chicken. For the potpie, it is stuffed full of a plethora of different seafood – shrimp, scallops, lump crab, and the catch of the day. Mixed in are pearl onions, peas, and potatoes, all coated in a creamy seafood cream sauce. The flaky pastry on the outside completes this delectable dish. The short ribs are fall-apart tender, accompanied by a flavorful roasted vegetable mash and barbecue demi sauce for dipping. Alongside the lemon chicken, you’ll love the duck fat-roasted potatoes and veggie sauté. Add truffle fries with a house-made shallot mayo for extra decadence!

If that weren’t enough, the three dessert options will send you right over the edge. Completely plant-based, the mango torte layers mango mousse and spiced lemon pound cake, covered with fresh berries and a raspberry sauce. You could also try the warm apple cobbler served with frozen vanilla custard, or a rich flourless chocolate cake covered in chocolate ganache and offset by a coffee Chantilly cream. Basically, if you’re not rolling out of Ale & Compass, something went wrong with your meal!

Kids have the ability to build their own meals, choosing from a selection of main dishes and sides. Kids that are more adventurous might like the pasta Bolognese or catch of the day, while a cheeseburger is there to save the day for pickier eaters. Side options include sautéed broccolini, macaroni & cheese, corn, and red potatoes, and kid approved! The side menu includes two dessert options – mini ice cream sandwiches and honey-marshmallow s’mores. Kids can choose to get one savory side and one sweet, working their dessert into the price of their meal.

Open only for dinner, the Yachtsman Steakhouse is the signature dining experience at the Disney Yacht Club. Designed to be elegant, upscale, and a true yacht-country club experience, this steakhouse has high quality dishes and a fabulous atmosphere. Yachtsman Steakhouse even has a dress code, heightening the fancy feel of the restaurant.

I recommend making this a date night or adults-only meal. Of course, you can bring your kids, but they need to adhere to the dress code as well. Between that and the sophisticated style of the place, you need to decide if this is the best place to bring your kids.

First Course

Yes, they even refer to the stages of the meal as courses!

First course items include steakhouse staples like a wedge salad, Caesar salad, and French onion soup, all of which are perfect ways to start your evening. If you want to try something a little different, consider the Ahi tuna tartare with a poke vinaigrette and wasabi, or the creamy lobster bisque. You could also get a charcuterie or cheese board to share if you don’t want to fill up before the main meal.

Chef’s Signature Offerings

These three dishes come recommended by the Yachtsman’s chef, and designed to be truly delicious experience. The first is the Chilled Captain’s Tower, a combination of jumbo shrimp, mussels, oyster shooters, scallop ceviche, and charred octopus salad. As the name suggests, the tower is served cold, and is ideal for the true seafood lover. If you prefer your seafood hot, I recommend you try one of the Land and Sea entrees instead.

Both of the other signatures dishes are made to share between two people. The first is a 28-oz prime porterhouse steak, 21-Day dry-aged, with accompaniments of bone marrow, green onion brioche bread, garlic butter, and your choice of two sides. Second is the Chilled Admiral’s Tower, and upgraded version from the Captain’s Tower. In addition to the Captain’s Tower seafood, the Admiral’s Tower also has Maine lobster, snow crab, and tuna tartare. Again, this item is served cold.

Butcher’s Cuts

It is a steakhouse after all, and these steaks are the main event. Filet mignon, prime rib, rib-eye, and New York strip all come cooked to order, with their own incredible seasonings and sauces to bring out the flavor of the meat. Of these, the filet mignon is my personal pick, covered in a cognac-truffle butter that adds to the unctuous nature of the steak.

Each steak comes with your selection of mashed potatoes, potato-leek gratin, sweet potato casserole, house-made French fries, or broccolini. You can also choose to add to your meal one of the signature Steakhouse Sides – truffle macaroni & cheese, creamed spinach, loaded hasselback potato, house-made truffle fries, or braised mushrooms. I suggest getting the broccolini with your meal (you’ll be glad for a vegetable!) and then adding one of the richer steakhouse sides.

Yachtsman Steakhouse offers further enhancements if you want to add to the luxurious nature of your meal. Get your steak Oscar-style, with asparagus, lump crab meat, and a rich béarnaise sauce. You can also add a half lobster, bone marrow, or thick-cut bacon for a little extra richness.

Land and Sea Entrees

Here’s where the hot, succulent seafood pairs with the delicious steakhouse offerings. Whole Maine lobster and Georges Bank Scallops are paired with incredible sauces and accompaniments to bring out their delicate flavors. If you want something unique, you might enjoy the Cervena Elk from the land side, with a parsnip puree and blueberry sauce.

You can also add the bone marrow or half a lobster to the items, or get them Oscar-style.

Yachtsman has several amazing desserts, but my picks would be the chocolate lava cake and the banana bread pudding. Using high quality chocolate, this lava cake is unlike any you’ve ever had. In addition the cake itself, it comes with a refreshing coconut ice cream to cut through the richness and is topping with a raspberry-Chambord Sauce and gingersnap crumbs.

The banana bread pudding is warm, comforting, and delicious. Caramelized bananas have the right touch of sweetness, as does the caramel rum sauce on top. A side of butter pecan ice cream ties the whole dessert together.

Disney Yacht and Beach Club Dining

While two separate resorts, the Disney Yacht Club shares a few dining locations with the Disney Beach Club. Of course, if you’re staying at either, it is easy to pop over to the other resort to enjoy the dining options. After all, the resorts share a pool area, they’re that close together!

However, two dining spots are right in the middle of the Disney Yacht & Beach Club that you’ll want to check out!

Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill

Out by the pool, Hurricane Hanna’s is the main pool bar and eatery for Stormalong Bay. This is a great place for you to get a poolside lunch or refreshing beverage, especially if you don’t want to have to trek back to your room. Don’t let the fact that this is a pool bar fool you, Hurricane Hanna’s has some delicious options!

Much like other pool bars, Hurricane Hanna’s has lighter fare, which is what you want out of a meal by the pool. Grab a cool Greek or Caesar salad, perfect for a hot day and a light lunch. If you want to make your salad a bit more substantial, you can add chicken for that extra protein. The rest of the savory items are sandwiches, again ideal for poolside eating. The Italian Focaccia and turkey and Swiss sandwiches are both delicious, but our favorite is the seafood roll. Fresh seafood comes tossed in a citrusy mayo dressing, with just the right amount of zing. All three sandwiches come with house-made chips, which gives just the right touch to the meal.

What would a bar be without amazing drinks! Hurricane Hanna’s has two specialty cocktails you’re going to love – the Category 5 and Storm Chaser. Category 5 has that pirate feel that will have you singing Yo-ho, yo-ho, a pirate’s life for me! With Captain Morgan spiced rum, crème de banana, peach schnapps, you’ll be feeling the island vibes in no time; add in a mix of orange and pineapple juices and a splash of grenadine to balance out the drink. If that wasn’t enough, the Category 5 also comes with a float of Gosling’s 151 Rum.

Meanwhile, the Storm Chaser is made with vodka, Bacardi superior rum, blue curacao, and sweet-and sour. A splash of Sprite brings a touch of sweetness and effervesce for a tropical buzz. Between these drinks and the beaches of Stormalong Bay, you’ll forget you’re not on a cruise !

Aside from these drinks, enjoy plenty of other cocktails on the rocks or frozen, as well as a wide variety of beer and wines. We recommend the Sunshine Margarita, a Disney poolside staple, or the Frosé, a frozen concoction of rosé mixed with vodka. Both are refreshing, and perfect for a sunny day by the pool.

For the kids and nondrinkers in your group, there are sweet and cool smoothie options as well as some virgin version of your favorites.

Beaches & Cream Soda Shop has been one of my favorites for as long as I can remember, and it is still one of my favorite places to visit. I can’t tell you how many fond memories I have of sitting out in front of the quick service window, waiting for our No Way José to appear. And then watching it disappear in a matter of minutes! Our family is decided ice-cream lovers, and Beaches & Cream never disappoints.

Beaches & Cream opens every day at 11:30am, providing a place to get a fun and delicious diner meal for lunch or dinner. You can always skip straight to dessert…many people do! Beaches & Cream is also open until 9:00pm, making it a great place to stop after a day at Epcot or on a walk around the boardwalk. This is usually when we stop by, after touring through the other resorts in the area or playing a round of mini-golf. It’s a great way to finish an evening!

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Amanda Smolko (@a_bookish_baker)

Beaches & Cream has a reputation for fantastic and fanciful desserts, but that’s not all there is to this location. The menu features delicious savory foods as well, combining diner favorites with a touch of table service sophistication. A nostalgic, 1950s diner feel makes this bright and fun location just a great place to hang out. Especially with the recent remodel, the larger space and new décor adds something to the atmosphere.

Diner Delights

Start with a classic cheeseburger, grilled cheese, or French dip sandwich. You could also go for two of the most popular items, the cheddar bacon-ranch chicken sandwich or house-made Reuben. It wouldn’t be a diner if you couldn’t get French fries or onion rings on the side, but Beaches & Cream added tater tots to their menu with the reopening! All your favorite loaded fry options now come in tot form, so if you’re a tot lover, you have to check these out.

Even though they are not listed on the menu right now, in the past Beaches & Cream has had a variety of salads to balance out the sandwich options, as well as a few seafood dishes. What’s great about Disney dining is that they are always rotating your options to keep things fresh, so be on the lookout for new additions!

You can always swing by the pickup window and take your lunch back to the pool, or enjoy your meal at the limited outdoor seating. However, if you definitely want to sit inside for the whole experience, a reservation is a must. Beaches & Cream is quite popular!

Soda Shop Marvels

Alright Mom, I had my dinner, now can I have dessert?

These incredible sweet treats will have you feeling like a kid again, and cause the actual kids in your group to go bananas!

To begin, you can get a classic strawberry shortcake or brownie a la mode. While both are delicious, these items are definitely elsewhere around Disney World , so we suggest going for one of the unique options that makes Beaches & Cream special. You’ll find these delicious delights on the Sundaes on the Beach section of the menu, and you’re going to be overwhelmed by your choices!

As I mentioned before, we are partial to the No Way José, an out of this world peanut butter and hot fudge masterpiece that features both chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Not enough? How about some chocolate pieces and whipped cream on top? Perfect.

The Fudge Mud Slide and Snickers Sundae are both similar to the No Way José, with three scoops of ice cream each, covered in chocolate, and topped with cookie pieces and Snickers bars respectively. You can also go for classics like a banana split or three-scoop sundae, giving you the chance to build your own delicious dessert

Even with all these other choices, the real star of this show is the infamous Kitchen Sink . Getting its name from the phrase “everything but the kitchen sink,” you won’t believe it until you see it. With eight scoops of ice cream, all the toppings in the store , huge chunks of cake, and an entire can of whipped cream , this sundae is no joke. The menu says that it serves four, but it really feeds more like six or eight. Recently, Beaches & Cream has added a Chocolate Lovers and Neapolitan option as well, which focuses more on these flavors.

Grabbing something to go? You can get a plain scoop of hand-dipped ice cream on cone or in a cup, or slurp up a rich milkshake. These are great if you’re planning to eat or drink as you walk, while meeting the need for a sweet treat.

No matter what dining option you choose at the Disney Yacht Club, you’re going to leave satisfied…and wanting to come back for more!

Cape May Café Character Breakfast Review

Cape May Café is located just off the lobby of Disney’s Beach Club Resort.   This restaurant serves only breakfast and dinner, but both meals have unique elements not found in other restaurants around the World.  Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast takes place in the mornings with Minnie, Daisy, Donald, and Goofy dressed in vintage beach attire.   In the evenings, a special “seafood and more” buffet is offered.   Here in our Cape May Café character breakfast review, we’ll cover the décor of the restaurant, the character we met, and the food.  We’ll pepper in pictures throughout, as usual.

Cape May Café opened with the resort back in 1990.

Breakfast at Cape May Cafe will cost one table service credit on the Disney Dining plan.  As it is a character meal, there is a “premium” price attached to this meal, which almost always makes it a good use of a credit, especially for kids.  Breakfast will cost around $41 adult/$24 child.  Tables in Wonderland is accepted here.

Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast at Cape May Café Features Minnie and Friends

As this meal is called “Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast,” you probably figured out that Minnie is the hostess of this character breakfast at Cape May Café.  She recently created a new look for her beach attire.  The girls and I loved her new outfit with all of the blue, pink, and purple stripes, complete with a bow.  She also dons a beautiful matching sun hat.

Our favorite ducks, Donald and Daisy, also come to visit your table at this meal.   Donald sports a straw hat and Hawaiian-style shirt over a striped shirt.   Daisy also wears an adorable swim dress like Minnie in shades of blue with a purple daisy.

Goofy also attends this breakfast, dressed in a swim shirt and trunks and a sun hat.   His shirt has a picture of a sandcastle that looks similar to the sandcastles decorating the restaurant.

Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast Buffet Provides a Hearty Meal to Start Your Day

While the Cape May Café buffet area looks small, it is well organized and packed with a variety of offerings.  I liked the 4-sided layout; it made maneuvering fairly easy.   It did help to make a lap to see all the offerings and plan your strategy.

Tucked back over by the entrance is the omelet station.    A fresh, omelet is made for you while you wait.  There is the typical array of meats, cheese, and vegetables to build your omelet.  This is such a treat and something I almost always get a buffet.

Some specialty items not found in every Disney buffet included servings of eggs benedict, a mushroom frittata, breakfast vegetables and shrimp, potato and scallion cups.   We always appreciate seeing offerings that are outside of the usual suspects and feel like these add some flair and individuality to each buffet.

Beverages such as juice, coffee, and tea are included, and some specialty cocktails and mocktails are also offered for an additional cost.   We were delighted that our favorite – the passion, orange, guava juice blend (known as jungle juice at Tusker House, Lilloko’I Juice at the Polynesian Resort restaurants, and also available at the Garden Grill breakfast) is served here.

We are a “beach family” and enjoy all things beach-themed, so this meal really was our aesthetic.  You don’t have to love the beach to love this meal, though, but it is a perfect accompaniment to your stay in at any of the Crescent Lake area resorts.   Since it is a short 5-minute walk to Epcot from the Beach Club, this would also be a perfect way to start your Epcot day and visit the resort in the process if you aren’t staying here.

Cape May Café Character Breakfast Review

character breakfast at disney yacht club

Cape May Café is located in Disney’s Beach Club Resort at Walt Disney World. This post reviews the all-you-can-eat Minnie’s Beach Bash Character Breakfast, which features Goofy, Donald Duck, Daisy, and of course, Minnie Mouse. Here, we’ll share thoughts on whether this character meal is worth the money, and provide thoughts on food and character interactions. ( Last updated June 17, 2018 .)

As noted, Cape May Café serves all-you-care-to-eat buffet cuisine in an airy oceanside atmosphere at Beach Club Resort. Minnie’s Beach Bash Character Breakfast participates in the Disney Dining Plan . It also accepts the Tables in Wonderland card for a 20% discount . Like most character breakfasts, it’s not a good value on the Disney Dining Plan , but it’s not a terrible value, either, especially with kids.

Minnie Mouse and “and her friends” which are almost always Goofy, Donald, and Daisy Duck (although that’s advertised as being “subject to change”) meet and greet guests during this Disney Character Dining experience, which serves a variety of breakfast favorites, including Mickey Waffles, a fresh fruit and yogurt bar, fresh-baked pastries, breakfast pizza, biscuits and gravy, and other options.

We’ve visited Cape May Café a few times, including on our honeymoon when we stayed at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort . We first began dining here out of necessity, because we wanted to do a character meal but couldn’t grab reservations anywhere else.

Since, we’ve found that it’s one of the best character meals on Walt Disney World property, with great breakfast food variety, fun costumes for characters we like, and a lack of crowds as compared to more popular options like Chef Mickey’s or ‘Ohana (or literally anything in-park).

Like the rest of Disney’s Beach Club Resort, the ambiance and atmosphere at Cape May Café is nice. Pastel-colored umbrellas, beach chairs, and croquette clubs decorate the restaurant.

These really set the mood nicely for the meal, although some of the window-facing ones appeared a bit sun-faded. Obviously a very minor observation, but for the prices charged, Beach Club should always be in tip-top shape.

Another nice element of the ambiance (in a way) is that Cape May Café is tucked away and often is far less busy than popular locations like Chef Mickey’s.

Characters spend more time with guests, there are shorter waits to be seated, and the buffets in general aren’t as busy. At least on the occasions when we’ve gone. During the free dining promotion, it’s probably much busier.

When we first started dining at Cape May Café, the restaurant featured Minnie, Goofy, Chip, and Dale all dressed in very cool swimsuits. Unfortunately, Chip and Dale are no longer regulars–perhaps because it was ecologically-improbable to find chipmunks at the beach? (Then again, whatever kind of half-man, half-dog creature Goofy is is also illogical if you want to break it down!)

As of Summer 2018, Minnie’s Beach Bash Character Breakfast now features Goofy, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy. Donald’s costume is awesome (possibly the best of the bunch), and Daisy is likewise a solid addition, so it’s tough to get too worked up over the loss of Chip & Dale.

Luckily, the breakfast has remained as excellent-as-ever over the years. Cape May Cafe has quite possibly the most extensive character breakfast menu of all character breakfasts, with ~44 items on the menu!

The buffet is divided into a cold bar, hot bar, yogurt bar, and dessert bar. There truly are too many items to name, but some of my favorites include the Biscuits with Home-style Sausage Gravy, Bacon Gruyère Casserole, Mickey Waffles, Breakfast Potatoes, sausage, and bacon.

As you can tell, I don’t mess around at Cape May Café–I order mostly meats and other delicious (and unhealthy) hot-items. Let someone else have all the bananas and oatmeal!

character breakfast at disney yacht club

At various times, Cape May Café has also offered a breakfast pizza. I don’t want to fixate on this too long, because it’s not always available, but if it is there, make sure to try it. It’s incredible. A genius combination of cheese and egg and “other stuff” that is absolutely not to be missed. I know the description (and even the concept) may sound suspect, but few things in this world beat a good Cape May Cafe breakfast pizza.

The other breakfast items aren’t too shabby, either. There’s the Disney breakfast standby, the Mickey Waffles, along with some other more unique items like the Bacon Casserole and Breakfast Potatoes. These have always been great when we’ve tried them, never cold or “old” tasting, even when we’ve gone on days that Cape May Café hasn’t been overly-busy. I am not too high on breakfast at Disney regardless of where it is, but the options at Cape May Cafe are definitely solid.

character breakfast at disney yacht club

Overall, Cape May Café is a great option for breakfast, regardless of whether you have kids. At nearly $30, it’s rather pricey for breakfast (a dinner clambake is a non-character alternative), but this is par for the course with character meals. It’s difficult to ding it too much for the price since it is in line with other locations, but at the same time, we always do find ourselves with a bit of “sticker shock” when we receive the bill, and I think Disney typically does not do breakfast nearly as well as other meals (for comparison’s sake, we typically pay less when we dine at Beaches & Cream for dinner, even when we order decadent ice cream treats–and we usually leave both restaurants about equally full).

Luckily you can eat as much as you want, so make sure to stick around for a while so you get your money’s worth. That said, the food is excellent, the characters are fun, and it’s always nice to head over to Disney’s Beach Club Resort. It’s one of our favorite character breakfasts thanks to its mix of food, characters, and crowds. If a character breakfast with fab five characters in awesome costumes is what you want, this is the meal for you. Plus, it’s a short walk to Epcot, so you can easily hit the parks after your meal!

Your Thoughts…

What do you think of Cape May Cafe…is it a great, quiet character meal, or is it an inferior experience to the “big” options like Chef Mickey’s and Cinderella’s Royal Table? Any questions about the experience at Minnie’s Beach Bash Character Breakfast? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Review is still accurate. Pricey but good breakfast buffet with characters. 2 year old had a blast on 6 July 2023. Same four characters but different costumes from your pictures.

Does Cape May have a breakfast buffet without characters?

' src=

They don’t. There is a character free breakfast buffet at Ale & Compass next door at Yacht Club.

Cape May Cafe Breakfast Review (Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast Buffet)

This article provides a review of the character breakfast, Minnie’s Beach Bash, at Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort.

Walk through the lobby of Disney’s Beach Club anytime during breakfast hours, and you’ll likely find the lobby buzzing with guests. Most of those guests are waiting to check in or be seated at Cape May Cafe’s Minnie Beach Bash.

When I say buzzing, I mean lots of families with small children. Usually, everyone is hungry and eager to get their seat. But, even more so, later in the morning, you’ll find the guests who sacrificed eating breakfast earlier in exchange for a seat at Minnie’s Beach Bash.

This popular location offers a traditional breakfast buffet and the opportunity to meet several classic characters in fun beach attire. So grab a shovel and pail. We’re off to Cape May Cafe to enjoy Minnie’s Beach Bash.

Minnie Mouse poses for a photo at the table.

Earlier in the week, I had plans to set sail on the Disney Wish with a few of my friends from Firefly Travels. Anna Marie flew into town, and we rode to the port together. On our way to Cape Canaveral, we decided to have a late breakfast at Walt Disney World upon our return. So Anna checked the My Disney Experience app, and a character breakfast for two at Cape May Cafe came up after a few refreshes.

We decided it was a great option. She wanted to try the experience for her customers, and I had yet to review Cape May Cafe. When we arrived at the Beach Club, the lobby was bustling. The gingerbread carousel had been installed the day before, and a crowd had formed around it. We checked in for our reservation and spent a few minutes checking out the gingerbread display.

Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast Buffet Pricing

At the time of this update, Minnie’s Beach Bash costs $47.00 for adults and $30.00 for children ages 3-9 years old. You can check the current price of breakfast on Disney’s site . It’s important to note that a family of four with two adults and two children will spend more than $155.00 plus tax and tip for this meal.

Cape May Cafe only has characters at breakfast. In the evening, the buffet transitions to a seafood dinner. Lunch is not served at this location. However, breakfast reservations are available between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. So you could consider this meal for brunch.

Inside, you’ll find beach theming that includes umbrellas and sand castle displays. It’s a cheerful place to enjoy breakfast.

On our way to our seats, we noticed a few breakfast cocktails on a stand near the entrance. Several drinks were available to order at an additional cost, but coffee, tea, and soda were included in the meal’s price.

An omelet station is available in addition to the buffet.

Choices for omelets included:

  • Ham and Cheese
  • Western (Ham, Cheese, Onions, and Peppers)
  • Vegetables (Onions, Mushrooms, Peppers, and Spinach)
  • Custom (Your choice: Ham, Cheddar Cheese, Mushrooms, Onions, Pepper, and Spinach)

Like most buffets at Disney World, bread service is provided. Cape May Cafe is known for its Salted Caramel Beach Buns, which are soft and delicious. They are served with vanilla cream sauce on the side.

Regarding the buffet, I took photos of all the items so you could see what’s available. Like most character meals, the food is pretty generic. It’s not necessarily bad, but it’s not great either. Most of these items you could order at one of the value resort food courts. But at least there are Mickey Waffles!

a portion of the buffet with Mickey Waffles, pancakes, and biscuits

Speaking of Mickey, here are those Mickey-shaped waffles and chocolate chip pancakes.

Next, we see French Toast and biscuits.

a closeup of French Toast and biscuits

Those biscuits come with a side of gravy. Per the menu, they were cheddar biscuits and gravy.

Then we have roasted potatoes and sausages. Most of these items are pretty standard at character dining breakfasts.

Here’s bacon with scrambled eggs.

Parker House Rolls were also on the buffet. These were likely from nearby Ale and Compass, which is one of our favorite restaurants. They have a delicious breakfast minus the character interactions.

A carving station with ham was available.

Fruit selections included grapes, strawberries, and pineapple.

Then we have a marshmallow fruit salad and overnight oatmeal with fruit topping and granola.

If you prefer regular oatmeal, it’s available, along with brown sugar and dried cranberries.

On the back side of the buffet, we have shredded cheese and a sauce. You could combine these items with tortillas and eggs to make a breakfast wrap.

There was another section with bacon and sausage. But, unfortunately, there wasn’t any chicken or turkey sausage available.

Next, we have asparagus, more roasted potatoes, and a plant-based item. The asparagus reminds me of breakfast at Boma, which is the best breakfast at Disney World .

Plant based items on the buffet include asparagus and a tofu vegetable dish.

Most of the items on the buffet have a label that helps identify them.

For instance, I had no idea what this dish contained, but I could discern that it was tofu with vegetables.

These items that looked like yellow cupcakes with white icing were next to the plant-based items.

Surprisingly, they were poached eggs sitting on top of a potato hash.

On the back corner of the buffet was a kid’s section with Mickey-shaped waffles, pancakes, berry sauce, and whipped cream.

A kids' section that's lower than the rest of the buffet.

I guess it’s nice to have a few things at eye level for the kids.

Lastly, a selection of crepes with a drizzle of chocolate was available.

crepes on the buffet with chocolate sauce

For my first trip to the buffet, I got the basics. I felt all of the items on this plate were satisfactory. Unfortunately, I can’t eat a lot of eggs. So, I would have done better by removing the poached egg. After I dove into it, the egg yolk ran everywhere, which kept me from continuing.

A prepared plate with a roll, ham, asparagus, poached eggs, and potatoes.

For round two, I tried a cheddar biscuit with gravy, a chocolate chip pancake, and some fruit. The cheddar biscuit with gravy was one of my favorite bites of the meal.

A prepared plate with a biscuit and gravy, chocolate chip pancake, and fruit.

I grabbed overnight oats to sample but found them mostly flavorless.

And while the crepes looked fun, they were a letdown. I don’t know if this day was the norm, but there wasn’t any filling inside them. Instead, they were strictly crepes with a dash of confectioner’s sugar and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. It would have been nice if they had a lemon butter filling with maybe a blueberry drizzle.

Overall, the breakfast items we received were exactly as we anticipated. Our meal was filling, but the food wasn’t exceptional. But Anna quickly reminded me that we were there for the characters!

Characters at Cape May Cafe

You’ll have the opportunity to meet several classic characters in fun attire at Minnie’s Beach Bash. This was the fun part of the meal, and they didn’t disappoint.

First, Minnie Mouse came to the table wearing a beautiful striped summer dress with a matching hat. I love that bow on your dress, Minnie!

Minnie Mouse

Not long after, Donald Duck made an appearance. He reminded us that he was the number one character at breakfast.

Donald Duck at Cape May Cafe Breakfast

As the meal progressed, a song came on over the speaker system. During that time, the characters gathered the children in their immediate area and invited them to dance. This interaction reminded me of the Princess Processional at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall character breakfast and the Hawaiian Roller Coaster dance at the ‘Ohana Character Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch .

Eventually, Daisy Duck made an appearance at our table. She was as fashionable as ever.

Daisy Duck at Cape May Cafe

Goofy was the last character to come by our table. By the time Goofy had arrived, we were finishing up. Our meal lasted approximately one hour, and we met all the characters.

If you reserve this meal, I would plan for it to take an hour and a half. We waited about fifteen minutes to be seated after we checked in. Additionally, meeting the characters could take a little longer if they are running behind. So pace yourself during breakfast.

A server will likely mention this, but if a character is nearby when you’re initially seated, you can wait or feel free to go on and prepare your food. That character will come back through by the end of your meal.

Goofy at Cape May Cafe

To keep things flowing smoothly, the characters at Minnie’s Beach Bash do not sign autographs. An autograph card is presented to the table. One side of the card shows Minnie and her friends at the beach.

On the opposite side, you’ll find the character’s autographs.

Ultimately, the characters at Cape May Cafe made our experience enjoyable. I couldn’t help but notice that others around us seemed to be having a good time.

Cape May Character Breakfast Daisy Duck

Funny enough, the dad at the table next to us nearly croaked when he received the check. Anna couldn’t help but notice his “wow” expression when he opened the bill. So keep the price in mind when reserving a character meal. If you’re on a tight budget, you might opt to meet a few characters in the parks.

But if you want to experience a little bit of everything, plan a character breakfast on a morning when you don’t have a ton of other stuff planned. We like to do this kind of thing on a resort day, where we enjoy a late breakfast, spend the afternoon at the pool, and then have a casual dinner.

Hi, I'm Amber the owner of Resorts Gal . We have stayed at every single Disney Resort Hotel. Our philosophy? We believe you can have an incredible time at the resorts without ever setting foot in a theme park. We visit the resorts and parks regularly and would love for you to follow along!

I am in love with the character outfits. I wonder if you would recommend this restaurant over Topolino’s for breakfast? I like the idea of the buffet more then Top’s menu.. But the ambience might be better. Thanks for a great article!

Hi, I think that Topolino’s is the best character breakfast at Disney in regards to the food. It’s also nice to visit the Riviera and enjoy rooftop dining. With that said, Cape May Cafe is fun and there are more options on the buffet–but they are fairly generic buffet items.

What it's like staying at Disney's Beach Club Resort — and why it's now my favorite place to stay

Tarah Chieffi

  • Every hotel at Disney World has something special to offer, but it's hard to beat Disney's Beach Club, which is within walking distance of two theme parks and has what is essentially a miniature water park.
  • Stormalong Bay is shared with neighboring Yacht Club but easily comes in as the nicest pool at Disney World with waterslides, a sand bottom and a lazy river.
  • On top of all of that, it also has some of the most entertaining places to eat, including an on-site character meal experience and an ice cream shop with sundaes as big as the kitchen sink.

Walt Disney World Resort has more than 20 on-site hotels, and each one has its own brand of Disney magic. I've loved my stays at value resorts like Disney's Art of Animation Resort with its movie-themed rooms and massive "Finding Nemo"-themed pool. I've also equally loved staying at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort for its proximity to the Magic Kingdom and abundance of Dole Whip.

However, after my most recent Disney World vacation, you'd have a hard time convincing me to go back to any of those hotels rather than my new favorite Disney hotel: Disney's Beach Club Resort.

What is Disney's Beach Club Resort?

character breakfast at disney yacht club

Disney's Beach Club Resort is one of Disney World's top-tier Deluxe resorts. Disney Deluxe resorts are often in prime locations, have larger rooms and offer more activities and amenities than other Disney resorts. This resort is designed to resemble a classic coastal New England-style resort, with Colonial architecture, a muted color scheme and a nautical flair.

When you stay at Disney's Beach Club Resort, you also have access to the restaurants and amenities at Disney's Yacht Club Resort , which is just next door. The resort is also within walking distance of both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios, as well as the dining and nightlife along Disney's BoardWalk.

How to book Disney's Beach Club Resort

character breakfast at disney yacht club

As with other Disney World hotels , it's sometimes best to book direct through Disney. You can do this through Disney's website, over the phone or by using an authorized Disney vacation planner . Disney vacation planners can help you get the best price by searching for available discounts at the time of booking and up until your trip.

FOR NO-COST ASSISTANCE WITH PLANNING AND BOOKING YOUR NEXT DISNEY VACATION, CHECK OUT TPG'S DISNEY BOOKING PARTNER, MOUSE COUNSELORS .

In addition to booking through Disney or a vacation planner, you can also use miles from your Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card or the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card .

As a Walt Disney World annual passholder, I took advantage of a special offer of 30% off the regular room rate for a resort view room at Disney's Beach Club Resort. I paid $391 per night (plus taxes and fees) instead of the regular rate of about $660 per night (plus taxes and fees).

This is near the high end for a standard room at Disney World, and the rate can climb even higher during holidays or busy times of the year. Disney's Beach Club Resort also offers club-level rooms with lounge access.

But notably, it is also bookable for studios, one- and two-bedroom suites via Disney Vacation Club . Even if you aren't a DVC member, you can rent DVC points at a rate that can be much lower than what you'd pay in cash by booking through Disney. Studios here start at 14 DVC points per night, which would be $294 to $322 using points rented from David's Vacation Club, depending on how far in advance you book.

Easy access to Disney's theme parks and more

character breakfast at disney yacht club

Disney's Beach Club Resort is conveniently located between Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios. From the hotel lobby, you can walk to the Epcot International Gateway (near the back of the park) in about five minutes or head in the other direction and be at Hollywood Studios in 10 to 15 minutes.

With all the walking you do during a day at Disney, it's also worth noting Disney's Beach Club Resort offers complimentary boat transportation to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios, too, plus bus transportation to the Magic Kingdom, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs and Disney's water parks. There's also a Disney Skyliner station near the Epcot International Gateway, which can get you to Disney's Hollywood Studios or to four of Disney's other resort hotels if you want to sample the dining and amenities across Walt Disney World.

Spacious, upscale rooms

character breakfast at disney yacht club

I've stayed at every tier of Disney resorts, and you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to room size. Our room at Disney's Beach Club Resort was spacious enough for our family of five, with plenty of storage for our luggage and a sofa bed where we could relax during the day and one of our children could sleep at night.

Related: How Disney renovated more than 22,000 hotel rooms in 5 years

The Disney theming was limited to a few paintings on the wall that portrayed Disney characters enjoying the resort. Otherwise, the room had a "lived-in luxury" vibe with comfortable, understated furnishings. Outside, there was a wrought-iron patio set where we spent many mornings and evenings before or after a day of Disney fun.

The bathroom had a large double vanity with a door that separated the vanity area from the shower and tub combo and the toilet. In the entryway, there was a minifridge, a coffee and tea station and a closet with an iron and an ironing board. The flat-screen TV sat atop a large dresser with plenty of storage for our three-night stay.

A variety of dining options

character breakfast at disney yacht club

Disney's Beach Club Resort has dining options that range from character meals to poolside dining to the best ice cream shop at Disney World (and probably beyond). Character dining takes place during the breakfast buffet at Cape May Cafe ($45 per adult and $29 per child, plus tax and gratuity). Cape May Cafe also serves a seafood-forward, New England-inspired dinner buffet without character appearances.

The Beach Club Marketplace is a quick-service dining location with staples like eggs, bacon and Mickey waffles for breakfast and soup, salad, sandwiches and pasta for lunch and dinner. The marketplace also sells snacks and alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. It's adjacent to the hotel gift shop, where you can stock up on souvenirs or forgotten necessities like swimsuits, sunscreen and toiletries.

Outside by the Stormalong Bay pool, you can grab a drink at Hurricane Hanna's Waterside Bar and Grill or have your food and libations delivered to your pool chair. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with provolone and an avocado spread ($12.29) and a frozen pina colada ($15.50). It was just what I needed to energize myself for an afternoon of swimming.

The highlight of our many meals at Disney's Beach Club Resort was Beaches & Cream Soda Shop. This is the most popular ice cream spot at Disney World because of its unique ice cream creations and old-fashioned soda shop vibes.

At Beaches & Cream, I had the No Way José peanut butter and hot fudge sundae ($11.50), but for the ultimate Beaches & Cream experience, you must get the Kitchen Sink sundae ($36). It has eight scoops of ice cream, tons of toppings and a whole can of whipped cream. What's really fun about it, though, is the show the server puts on when you order it. I don't want to ruin the surprise, so just take my word for it and give it a try.

Take your pick of fitness and recreational activities

character breakfast at disney yacht club

Guests of Disney's Beach Club Resort can use the 24-hour fitness center next door at Disney's Yacht Club Resort. It's only about a five-minute walk from the Beach Club lobby and has a variety of fitness equipment, including strength machines, cardio machines, free weights, medicine balls and kettlebells.

Related: 8 Walt Disney World experiences that don't require a park ticket

Disney's Beach Club Resort has a lot of other fun fitness opportunities, too. There's a sand volleyball court, tennis courts (tennis and pickleball equipment is available at the front desk) and a nearly 1-mile-long running trail. Disney also recently added on-demand fitness videos for kids that you can watch on the TV in your room.

The best pool at Disney World

character breakfast at disney yacht club

Aside from a room that sleeps five, the 3-acre Stormalong Bay pool complex was the reason we stayed at Disney's Beach Club Resort.

Stormalong Bay is shared between the Beach Club and Yacht Club resorts and features a sandy beach area for kids, a lazy river, a hot tub, an activity pool with a volleyball net, swirling whirlpools, a 230-foot-long shipwreck-themed waterslide and two smaller waterslides for kids.

Related: Splash into fun: The 14 best hotel pools in Orlando

The hotel provides complimentary life jackets for kids to use at the pool and free tubes for the lazy river. The activities team also hosts daily poolside games and, in the evening, poolside movies under the stars. We spent an entire day swimming and playing in the water and went back for more after dinner. It's almost like having a small water park just for hotel guests.

During our visit, getting somewhere to sit in the shade wasn't a problem, thanks to the number of trees in the area to supplement the umbrellas. That said, getting there early is always a good strategy if you want first dibs on a good spot.

Family fun outside Disney's theme parks

character breakfast at disney yacht club

Another bonus of staying at Disney's Beach Club Resort — or any Deluxe resort — is the wide variety of activities you can enjoy during your time away from Disney's theme parks.

Pick up a monthly activities guide when you check in to see exactly what's on offer during your stay. Guests can make crafts, attend a painting class, make s'mores at the nightly campfire, rent a boat or fishing equipment (or both) and more.

From the resort, you can easily walk to Disney's BoardWalk, where you'll find restaurants, a dueling piano bar, bicycle rentals, carnival games and other downtime activities.

Accessibility

All Disney hotels strive to be accessible to guests with disabilities.

Disney's Beach Club Resort offers both wheelchair- and hearing-accessible rooms. Additionally, public areas of the hotel also have accessible paths between the lobby area and restaurants, shops, meeting rooms, pools, fitness centers and laundry facilities, and pools have wheelchair lifts.

Checking out

character breakfast at disney yacht club

After staying at Disney's Beach Club Resort, it moved to the top of my "favorite Disney hotels" list. I loved that my family had enough space to spread out in our room and that there was so much to keep us busy around the resort.

I have no problem staying in one of Disney's more budget-friendly hotels when we are going to go hard in the parks or water parks. However, if I want to splurge for a hotel that has just as much fun (and good food) to offer as Disney's theme parks, you'll find me booking another stay at Disney's Beach Club Resort.
