Yacht Club BREAKFAST Menu

Host Jazzbeau

This is the Yacht Club breakfast menu, which seems to be essentially the same in all Yacht Club restaurants.

In the separate threads for Yacht Club LUNCH and  DINNER menus you will note that after the main set of menus, which were given to @Beamafar  and declared complete by her YC MD, there are additional menus from other MSC ships and sailings that are at best variations on the main set.  So I am not giving any warranty that the menu posted here is the only breakfast menu.

@Beamafar  and  I have now done our part.  If you would like to contribute, please feel free to post additional menus (or variations) and 'food porn' pictures.  Just please remember that this thread is for Yacht Club BREAKFAST menus only.  See the separate threads for Yacht Club LUNCH and   DINNER  menus .

This is the dining room.

This may have been asked and buried in a different post somewhere but does anyone know if it is possible to order breakfast items via room service in YC that are not on the official room service menu? Such as those on the menu posted above?

I ask because on NCL (suite) they told us that we could order whatever we wanted for breakfast (within reason and if available, of course) even though not on the menu - just to manually write on the card what we wanted.

Not sure if that's something MSC will do.

Good question and something that I did not try to do.  Not sure if one could or not.

As a solo YC guest, something unusual in comparison to ordering Room Service on other ships, my Butler served my tray with one cup of coffee--not a pot of coffee--just one filled cop.  Most mornings I went to the YC Restaurant for breakfast.

On 10/20/2019 at 2:51 PM, Host Jazzbeau said: Breakfast:

If you enjoy a seated/served breakfast, you will love your YC breakfast!

Quiet with service (most mornings) as good as at lunch and dinner.  Usually, just one of the two Maitre d's was working, but their excellent, active service was just as good as at dinner.  Once, I ordered both the assorted cheese and cold cut plate:  delicious.  I preferred  the Ranchero Potatoes over the Hash Browns.  When I ordered poached eggs or Eggs Benedict, I was asked how I liked the eggs cooked.  (They were prepared as I requested.)   Coffee cup was kept filled, usually without having to request that.  One morning, I ordered their Stewed Apples and was served enough for 2-3 people:  very good, though.  Their breads that I ate were all very good; I love croissants and those were as good as any I have eaten.

One oddity:  while Grapefruit Juice was listed on the menu as being freshly squeezed, when I requested a half Grapefruit, it was not available.

Only once did I have breakfast at the YC Pool Grill and was pleased with the offerings.  Items, such as the potatoes or bacon that were self serve, cooled quickly in the open air and I was disappointed with the much fewer choices of the bread offerings.  There were three--as I recall:  hard rolls,  a variety of bread slices, or a small selection of danish type pastries.  A much greater selection was available in the YC Restaurant.

I enjoyed Breakfast on MSC Meraviglia!

That's odd. We've just come off Preziosa and I chose Fresh grapefruit 11 days out of fourteen...

Good for you.  I like the fact that the sections of the fruit were served as shown.  Makes it much easier than "digging" the fruit out of the skin.

Ah, after the second day I even had the peel removed.

That's how good the staff were. They witnessed me removing it on day two and obviously informed the chef.

Funnily enough, a few years ago on Seabourn a half grapefruit appeared that had just been sliced in half and the 'pulp' not separated.

Regardless of the ship on which I have sailed, I have never had the pulp not separated.  More of than not, the separations are large enough that I need to use fork and knife to do a bit more "dissecting".

Well done you.

Though that was the one reason that I remembered Seabourn can fall short.

I don't see either of the items I liked best at the non-Yacht Club breakfast: walnut sticky buns (cinnamon rolls), and breakfast pizzas.

Nor congee.  The toppings were very nice.

3 hours ago, shipgeeks said: I don't see either of the items I liked best at the non-Yacht Club breakfast: walnut sticky buns (cinnamon rolls), and breakfast pizzas.

I think the sticky buns were available.  I recall seeing them on the display as one entered the YC Restaurant for breakfast.  Breakfast pizzas?  No.  Not in the Dining Room nor at the Pool Grille that I recall.

2 hours ago, shipgeeks said: Nor congee.  The toppings were very nice.

I don't recall that either on MSC.  I had congee when I was in China.  In my opinion, it's one of those foods that one has to acquire a "taste for".

Next June will be my first Yacht Club experience. I've stayed in The Haven on NCl and they offer Steak and Eggs. Will I be able to get this on MSC?

Beamafar

Steak is not on the breakfast menu.  However, if you speak to the YC asst m’D he may be able to arrange it for you.

I enjoyed reading the menu again.  Thanks for posting it.  Seeing that Stewed Applies remain available reminds me of the morning when I ordered that along with juice and a regular full breakfast.  My Steward brought me a full bowl of the fruit!  Much more than I expected.  I saved it for a breakfast "dessert"; a first for me.  Delicious, but I needed to "waddle" out of the Dining Room that morning!

I searched for 15 minutes the current YC Bar List (+ Wine selection at the YC Restaurant), but I cannot find it. Does anyone have an idea? I plan to cruise in Mediterranean sea on the MSC Seaside.

And thanks a lot @elbarney for sharing the YC Lunch/Dinner lists. Great job!!

MSC Room Service Menus with Prices

Nothing speaks vacation mode like room service! Being able to lounge in your cabin and avoid the chaotic buffet lines is a real treat, but it often comes with a cost on MSC Cruises.

Many cruise lines have done away with free room service, but MSC has a unique approach to their room service pricing.

Key Points:

  • MSC Cruises offers room service at a cost, with Bella Experience guests paying $4.99 per order.
  • Fantastica, Aurea, and Yacht Club guests receive complimentary room service delivery.
  • The menu includes breakfast, all-day items, and dinner options with additional charges for hot meals.
  • Charges are per delivery per room, not per person or per item.
  • Yacht Club guests enjoy room service as part of the premium experience without additional charges.

MSC Room Service Menus

What is the Rooms Service Charge on MSC Cruises?

Based on your “experience” level that you booked for your MSC Cruise, you may qualify for free delivery for room service.

For the Bella”experience” guests (the most cost-effective rate), room service now costs $4.99 per order to deliver (not per person, but per delivery). The cost has risen from $3.50 just a year ago.

For all other guests in the Fantastica, Aurea, and Yacht Club, room service delivery is complimentary.

While the delivery fee may be complementary, there are still paid items on the room service menus.

Our Experience with Room Service

We booked the Fantastica experience on the Meraviglia and used room service (breakfast) on a couple of occasions. Just like you’d expect, a card is left in the cabin for you to fill out for the following morning along with a requested time. Each time we tried the room service, the order was forgotten or was delivered significantly later than expected.

The benefit of ordering breakfast was to avoid the crowds on days that we had excursions planned. Unfortunately, it would have been better to just visit the buffet and head straight out for the excursions than wait around for the room service delivery.

Just keep this in mind if you have an excursion booked. Otherwise waiting a bit wouldn’t be a big issue.

Room service breakfast menu

The breakfast menu available is basically a continental breakfast delivered between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Items include breads, muffins, cereals, fruit, jams and spreads. If you’re craving a hot meal for breakfast, you’ll be paying extra, unfortunately.

MSC room service breakfast menu

From 7 a.m. -10 a.m. you can have a hot meal delivered for a fee of $7.95. They don’t make it clear if it’s per person or per delivery for the fee. So we tried it! In our experience with 2 people in a cabin ordering hot meals, we were only charged a single $7.95 fee making this PER ORDER, not per person. However, we’ve been told of other passengers being charged PER PASSENGER when there are 2 people in the cabin both ordering hot breakfast items. Talking with an MSC Rep, they said this was likely a mistake and it should only be $7.95 per order placed regardless of the number of passengers and items ordered.

Room service all-day menu

MSC room service menu dinner and lunch

This menu is basically available any time of day, for a fee. For single items, the price is $3 or two items for $5. There is only a delivery/room service fee for Bella Experience guests ($4.99) – everyone else just pays for the times without a delivery fee.

Oddly they limit you to two items per order per person. I’m not sure why they care since you are paying for it.  It’s just another one of those headscratchers when it comes to MSC Cruises.

ALL Day Menu Items :

  • TUNA SALAD SANDWICH
  • HAM AND CHEESE SANDWICH
  • GRILLED CHICKEN BREAST SANDWICH
  • GARDEN SALAD
  • GARDEN SALAD WITH CHICKEN BREAST
  • MINESTRONE SOUP
  • CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

Dinner Room Service Menu

If you feel like skipping the Main dining room, order from the more limited room service menu for only $7.95. This magic price conjures up the same confusion as to whether it’s per person or per delivery. Officially it’s per order/delivery, so if you are charged per PERSON, definitely go to the guest services and have it removed. The items on the menu are complimentary and have no additional charge, unlike the all-day menu.

Again, if you are a Bella experience guest, you’ll pay an extra delivery fee of $4.99 on top of the $7.95

  • FRENCH ONION SOUP  – Jack Daniel’s splash, Gruyères cheese croûton

5 Simple Ideas for an Amazing Breakfast on a Boat

mini bagel and scrambled eggs topped with cheese and parsley on a white plate

Breakfast is a big part of living onboard. It’s a relaxing time at anchor and one of the most peaceful parts of the day.

Do you prefer starting your day on the dolphin seat, enjoying a warm bowl of oatmeal underway, or indulging in a plate of eggs in the cockpit with a good book?

Whether your day calls for something you can cook underway or an extra special meal, a few go-to options will make breakfast aboard stress-free. These options will also allow you to add variety when you have fresh ingredients or make something different to mix things up.

Here are a few of our favorite ideas for breakfast on a boat that work for life aboard.

Oatmeal is an excellent breakfast on board because all the ingredients have a long shelf life. Old-fashioned (or rolled) oats with the right fixings will provide everything you need for a delicious, filling bowl of oatmeal. Everything can be bought in bulk and stored long-term on a boat. Toss in some fresh fruit for an extra tasty bowl!

pile of dry oats with spoon on top

Oatmeal Fixing Ideas

Before serving, add any of the toppings below for a healthier, tastier bowl of oats.

  • ground flaxseed or flax meal
  • honey or brown sugar for sweetness
  • dried cranberries
  • chopped banana or apple (they last a long time and add a crisp bite to oatmeal)
  • chopped walnuts

PRO TIP:  Toast your rolled oats in a pan on medium heat for enhanced flavor before boiling. Add a splash of whole or non-dairy milk for a creamier bowl.

Granola and yogurt.

Granola doubles as a filling breakfast or snack. It’s also something you can make yourself as long as you have a few dry ingredients on hand. With a few basics, you can add what you like to change up the granola.

granola spread out on oven pan with someone holding a small bowl of granola

Combinations

Spices and oils you need for granola.

  • maple syrup or honey
  • extra-virgin olive oil or coconut oil
  • vanilla extract

Tips for Making Granola

  • Make sure you use old-fashioned or rolled oats since they will bake the best.
  • I use this basic granola recipe and change up the nuts, seeds, etc. for different granola combinations.
  • You can make yogurt onboard as well. If you don’t have an Instant Pot onboard, you can easily make it in a small Thermos . Check out The Boat Galley’s guide to homemade yogurt .

Tortillas are the boat breakfast champion. When bought in the U.S., they have a long shelf life and can be used in various breakfast meals.

Here are a few of our tortilla favorites for breakfast.

Sweet or Savory Tortilla

One of my quick and easy breakfast meals is granola and yogurt with a tortilla and cream cheese on the side. The basis for either a sweet or savory tortilla option is a tortilla heated in a pan with cream cheese.

granola and yogurt in a bowl with tortilla with cream cheese on the side

SWEET – Strawberry cream cheese, with honey and chia

SAVORY – plain or jalapeno cream cheese with scallions

Add your cream cheese of choice and appropriate toppings. fold over like a quesadilla. When it’s crispy on both sides, it’s ready. Enjoy!

Tortilla with Eggs

When we get eggs, we typically stock up. Eggs are super flexible when it comes to breakfast, and we love having various options.

Huevos Rancheros

Huevos rancheros are an excellent filling boat breakfast. Since a lot of the toppings are flexible, you’re free to mix it up. As long as you have cheese, beans, tortillas, and eggs, you’re good to go!

  • Start by warming a can of black or pinto beans in a pot. I like to add a little cumin, chili powder, and onion powder for flavor.
  • Fry your egg in a pan and set it aside.
  • Put a tortilla in the pan (with a bit of oil) and layer with beans, the cooked egg, and a mild cheese (Monterey jack is our favorite). Cook until cheese is melted.
  • Remove the tortilla and finish by adding any of the toppings below.

huevos rancheros with bean, eggs, veggies, and salsa on top

Options for Toppings

Scrambled Eggs with Tortilla Wedges

Another staple but simple breakfast meal on the boat is the perfect scrambled eggs with crispy tortilla wedges.

Top your eggs with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan for a tasty, fresh meal.

Tips for Amazing Scrambled Eggs

Bagels are some of my favorite boat breakfast meals, especially when they are homemade. They are fun to make and can be a real treat if you are off-grid for a bit.

toasted homemade bagel with eggs and veggies

Bagel Options

Tips for the best bagels.

  • Everything bagel seasoning is super easy to make, and we typically have it handy. If you keep the dry ingredients on board, you can whip some up or use them for other recipes. See recipe for Everything Bagel Seasoning .
  • For breakfast, all you need to do is warm the bagel up in the pan with a little oil or butter. As another option, you can heat them on a camping toaster similar to this one .
  • If you’ve tried your hand at pizza dough and are comfortable, you should have no problem with bagels. Here is the recipe I use for making bagels .

Pancakes are usually in rotation on the boat. Pancakes make a great boat breakfast because you can generally alter the batter recipe based on what you have.

homemade pancakes on plate with sliced banana on top

Pancake Substitutes

Pancake toppings.

  • maple syrup or butter
  • fresh fruit – berries or banana (or sliced apple when you need provisions to last longer)

Another bonus for pancakes is they are easy to reheat and enjoy the next day.

NOTE: If you buy real maple syrup as we do, it will need to be refrigerated. Repackage it in smaller containers that fit in your fridge, and keep the extras at the back.

This is one of our favorite whole wheat pancake recipes.

How to Enjoy Breakfast on a Boat

If you’re like us, food is a big part of the experience of living on a boat. It’s typical to plan a morning around the farmers’ market, take the time to plant and care for a herb garden or plan ahead to make bread or bagels.

I hope you found a few helpful ideas for tasty, fun breakfast meals you can make your own on your boat.

The Most Exciting Hotels in London Right Now

From big brands to quirky independents, the city’s newest accommodations are luxurious in ways both quiet and not.

In an alcove, a built-in curved bench with upholstered red fabric and white fringe at the base. Urns are stacked along the window.

By Kate Maxwell

London is in its global hotel brand era: In the last year, it’s added a Raffles, a Peninsula and a second Mandarin Oriental; a Waldorf Astoria, a St. Regis and a Six Senses are on their way. This new guard is taking over historical icons and throwing up gleaming towers, and it’s upping the ante on amenities, too. A posh afternoon tea is no longer enough, it seems; now, five-stars come with signature scents, subterranean spas, museum-worthy art and long-stay residences. Rooftop bars, a rarity here a decade ago, are now seemingly obligatory (the one at the Emory wins for views, with everything from Big Ben to Battersea Power Station in its sights). But there’s still room for the occasional independent hotel, like the Broadwick, a maximalist love letter to the owner Noel Hayden’s hotelier parents and the creative Soho of the ’90s in which he came of age. “It’s a bit of a sensory overload,” Hayden says. Naturally, there’s a rooftop bar there, too.

Grand Hotel Bellevue

Paddington, an area short on upscale hotels, is a smart choice for French brand Lignée Hotels’ first property outside France. A decades-long regeneration, the new Elizabeth Line, linking Paddington to Heathrow and East London, and nearby attractions like Kensington Gardens and Little Venice make it a good base for exploring the capital. Grand Hotel Bellevue , whose sister hotels include the soignée La Maison Favart and Le Narcisse Blanc Hotel & Spa in Paris, occupies a five-story Victorian townhouse on elegant Norfolk Square. The Paris-based, Milanese architect Fabrizio Casiraghi has combined a bold, earthy color palette with bespoke furniture and antiques for the interiors, and collaborated with the American fashion designer Emily Adams Bode Aujla to design the hotel’s reception and Pondicherry Bar. A tribute to the duo’s love of India, the bar has bold yellow walls hung with tapestries featuring elephants and tigers; its cocktail list includes Masala Chai Iced Tea, with spiced rum and crème de pêche. The smallest, single rooms are designed to feel like boat cabins, with dark wood walls and brass light fixtures, while the 375-square-foot Grand Norfolk Suite has a free-standing tub, high ceilings and views of Norfolk Square. Bathrooms are stocked with products by perfumer-to-the-royals, Floris, and there’s a fitness studio with Nohrd equipment. Rooms from about $345 a night.

Raffles London at the OWO

The 120-room Raffles London , which opened in fall 2023, is a spectacular revival of the Old War Offices, a turreted, Edwardian Baroque icon in the middle of the city’s royal and political landmarks. The 760,000-square-foot stone-clad building served as the offices for leading politicians, including Winston Churchill, and was the birthplace for the British intelligence services MI5 and MI6 — it inspired Ian Fleming’s James Bond series. Intricate mosaic floors, marble staircases, acres of oak paneling and eye-popping chandeliers have been meticulously restored, and a four-story, 27,000-square-foot subterranean Guerlain spa added. Near the entrance to the Whitehall Ballroom hangs the 1921 painting “Naval Officers of World War I” by Arthur Stockdale Cope, on loan from The National Portrait Gallery. Of the nine restaurants and bars, three overseen by the three-Michelin-star Argentine chef Mauro Colegreco, the must-visit is the Spy Bar, a speakeasy with the Aston Martin stunt car from “No Time to Die” (the OWO was featured in the 2021 film) as a centerpiece and Bond’s favorite cocktail, the Vesper Martini, on the menu. Rooms from about $1,440 a night.

A glass-and-steel box topped with sail-like structures on the edge of Hyde Park, Maybourne Group’s (Claridge’s, The Connaught, The Berkeley) first all-suite hotel, the Emory , unveiled earlier this summer, was designed by the late Richard Rogers, the architect of the Pompidou Center, and Ivan Harbour of the RSHP firm. The “quiet luxury” aesthetic is strong; the textured public spaces, with polished copper light fixtures, leather upholstery and Damien Hirst artworks, are by Remi Tessier, known for his private jet and yacht interiors, and include a trio of Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurants. The suites and 3,200-square-foot penthouse, by six additional designers, feature luxe materials like Calacatta viola marble and ash wood, and a palette of soft, neutral colors inspired by Hyde Park. The four-story, subterranean Surrenne spa hosts classes by Tracy Anderson. The Emory’s rate includes a private ride from the airport, a 24-hour personal assistant, breakfast and the contents of the not-so-mini bar, where you might find a jug of iced Pimm’s and English strawberries in summer. Rooms from about $2,100 a night.

Broadwick Soho

The passion project of the gaming entrepreneur Noel Hayden, who grew up making toast and performing magic tricks in his parents’ seaside hotel, Broadwick Soho is the wild card of London’s new hotel scene. Hayden’s brief to the interior designer Martin Brudnizki was “your eccentric godmother’s townhouse meets Studio 54.” The bell boys look circus-ready in leopard-print blazers; inside, there’s contemporary art everywhere, including works by Francis Bacon, Bridget Riley and Andy Warhol, many of them from Hayden’s personal collection. The hotel’s low-lit restaurant, Dear Jackie, named for Hayden’s mother, has red silk walls hung with hand-painted plates, patterned booths and refined Italian food — don’t miss the ricotta tortelloni with broad beans. The seventh-floor bar-restaurant, Flute, dials up the maximalism with cork walls and mirrored ceilings and has a wraparound terrace. Bedrooms are low-key in comparison, with a soothing palette of blues, greens and pinks, and Soho rooftop views from floor-to-ceiling windows — though bespoke brass cocktail bars in the shape of elephants bring a hint of kitsch to the suites. Rooms from about $790 a night .

Of the many pedigreed hotels that have landed in Chelsea in the past few years, none is as opulent as At Sloane, a sibling to Paris’s Hotel Costes, which opened in December. The hotel is a renovation of a 19th-century red-brick mansion designed by the architect Edwin Thomas Hall, who created the mock-Tudor Liberty department store. The interiors, by Francois-Joseph Graf, the designer of the toile de Jouy-decked La Mirande hotel in Avignon, France, mix monochrome hues with shades of crimson, graphic rugs, checkerboard tiles and textiles by Morris & Co and Pierre Frey. More than 1,000 black-and-white photographs of stars including the original Sloane Ranger, Princess Diana, line the stairs to the 30 guest rooms. There, timber paneling opens into secret walk-in wardrobes, minibars and exquisite bathrooms modeled on the ones Graf remembers from childhood stays at Claridge’s. On the building’s new sixth floor is a guests-only restaurant with turn-of-the-century furniture by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Edward William Godwin and Christopher Dresser, and shelves stacked with hundreds of Chinoiserie vases. Rooms from about $795 a night.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair , the brand’s second, smaller London hotel, opened in June in a new build with a contemporary, red-brick-clad townhouse exterior on Hanover Square, Mayfair’s first square when it debuted in the 1700s. An expanse of green Ming marble greets guests when they enter, a nod to the company’s heritage and nearby green spaces (Berkeley Square and Green Park are neighbors). The Asian influence continues in the 50 rooms and suites (there are also 77 private residences), with House of de Gournay hand-painted silk wallpaper; stone-colored furniture and rugs; and pops of emerald, maroon or turquoise on cushions and headboards. The Korea-born, Colorado-bred chef Akira Back has made his UK debut with a namesake restaurant — look out for his trademark ‘AB Tuna Pizza’, with umami aioli, tuna sashimi, micro shiso and truffle oil — and Dosa, a 14-seater, counter-style restaurant; a rooftop bar opens later this year. It wouldn’t be a Mandarin Oriental without a standout spa; this one has an 80-foot swimming pool and 22-minute treatments for guests short on time. Rooms from about $1,400 a night.

An earlier version of this article misidentified the bar on the roof of the Emory hotel in London; it is the Emory Rooftop Bar, not Bar 33.

Writing a well balanced 7 day yacht chef menu can seem daunting. But it doesn’t have to be. You already have all of the skills to write the meal plan, because you do it already.

With a yacht chef menu, you need to show your creative flair through words. You need to ensure your meal plan is cohesive enough, yet varied in ingredients and techniques to show your wide reaching abilities.

The Superyacht Chef covers both head chefs and crew chefs, so we have provided you with two examples. If you applying for a crew chef role, you must still submit a meal plan to show you understand the needs of a diverse crews palate and that you are capable of cooking a range of meal styles.

A 7 day Crew menu

A yacht chef menu for crew should be diverse and be peppered with plenty of comfort foods. Crew work long hours in a season and enjoy the comfort food of home. Meals that crew love still include pasta, pizza or sandwich days.

It can be helpful to know in advance if the yacht you are applying for has dietary requirements on board. You can then tailor your basic 7 day crew meal plan to include these options.

A current crew chef wrote the example yacht chef meal plan. It is written with the expectation of moving onto a boat with 20+ crew.

A 7 day Guest menu

Planning your menu for guests can be difficult without knowing what your guest’s tastes and preferences are. The best thing to do here is plan out your food using your best dishes. You want the menu to be cohesive, while still showcasing your talents.

You may be asked to submit a seperate buffet-style menu. Here is a very brief version of that as an example. It would depend on the size of the boat you are applying for, and also if the yacht charters or is private. Again, guest preferences would always come first, so you really just want to show off your skills and cooking vibe.

Do’s and Don’ts of writing your yacht chef menu.

  • Keep your yacht chef menu clean and simple to read.
  • Make sure it is written in English.
  • Not all captains are foodies or know too much of the chef jargon used, so do try to keep it minimal and use English words where you can. Creating half a menu in French to make it seem fancy, may just make your application look unapproachable.
  • Do ask for preferences when you apply for a boat, you can then amend your yacht chef meal plan to suit.

It’s important to note, many private yacht owners want nice food cooked well, but more often than not, they are looking for some simplicity too.

I can’t tell you how many menus are from years ago, everyone just keeps the same menu all the time. In those past years, you have evolved so much with your skills, techniques, passions, what and who has inspired you and developed your repertoire, and indeed your own palette has changed too. Your menu should reflect that, be current and reflect what you love and represent. Justine Murphy CEO of mymuybueno.com

Hopefully, you now have all of the correct yacht certificates in hand, and you are now ready to dockwalk and contact crew agents.
