Bayesian, le accuse dell'armatore: "Catena infinita di errori", perché è affondato
Naufragio Bayesian, identificati i corpi di Bloomer, Morvillo e delle mogli
Quattro corpi recuperati, quelli del presidente della Morgan Stanley International, Jonathan Bloomer, e di sua moglie, Judy; dell’avvocato Chris Morvillo, dello studio legale Clifford Chance, e della moglie Neda. Un quinto individuato nel relitto. Mancherebbero all’appello, dunque, il magnate britannico dell’informatica Mike Lynch, che aveva voluto la festa galleggiante sul Bayesian, lo yacht superlusso affondato a largo di Palermo, per festeggiare la sua assoluzione, e la figlia 18enne Hannah. Poche ore dopo il naufragio era stato trovato, all’esterno del relitto, lo chef canadese-antiguano Recaldo Thomas.
Parallelamente alle operazioni di recupero, proseguono le indagini sulle cause. A puntare il dito contro le scelte fatte da chi era a bordo del veliero è Giovanni Costantino, ad di The italian sea group , la società proprietaria degli asset di Perini navi di Viareggio che costruì il Bayesian nel 2008. "Tutto ciò che è stato fatto rivela una sommatoria lunghissima di errori. Le persone non dovevano essere nelle cabine, la barca non doveva essere all’ancora. E poi perché l’equipaggio non sapeva della perturbazione in arrivo?", afferma l'imprenditore in un intervista al Corriere della sera.

Per Costantino è falso che la tempesta non era prevedibile: "Ho qui davanti a me le carte meteo. È arrivata all’improvviso un bel niente… Si chieda: perché nessun pescatore di Porticello era fuori quella notte? Un pescatore legge le condizioni meteo e una nave no? La perturbazione era leggibile appieno in tutte le carte meteo".
Definisce il veliero "inaffondabile", ma "salvo che non imbarchi acqua. Non c’è un’altra spiegazione", ipotizza fornendo una possibile ricostruzione dell'accaduto: "La nave era all’ancora. A un certo punto l’ancora perde la presa e lei si sposta trascinata dal vento che la spinge prendendola in pancia. La spinge per 4 minuti", continua, "la ruota e la pone nella posizione in cui è affondata. In questi 4 minuti — e mi assumo la responsabilità di quel che dico — la nave ha già preso acqua. Perché lo dico? Perché dalle immagini video che tutti avete pubblicato si vede l’albero in verticale prima tutto acceso e poi spento, tranne la lampadina in testa che prende energia da una batteria".

Costantino fa alcune ipotesi sul modo in cui lo scafo potrebbe aver imbarcato acqua: "Di sicuro il portellone di poppa era aperto", e "noi pensiamo che forse era aperto anche qualcos’altro". L'imprenditore afferma che con l'allerta meteo "era inopportuno fare, come ho letto, un party", ma "bisognava blindare lo scafo", "dopo aver messo gli ospiti nel punto di riunione della nave", "accendere i motori e tirare su l’ancora o sganciarla automaticamente, mettere la prua al vento e mandare giù la chiglia. La mattina dopo sarebbero ripartiti a danno zero". Invece "sono stati fatti degli errori".
