The main philosophy for the O’Mega was to have the large spaces of a small cruise ship while retaining the feeling of a smaller sized luxury yacht. The spacious deck and interior areas on all three levels have been specifically designed to ensure that all guests comfortably enjoy their time onboard whether it be together or independently.

Yacht arrangement

The 82m O’Mega built to the highest SOLAS standards. The yacht was initially built in 1985 by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., and underwent a total re-construction in its hull and superstructure features in 2004 by Golden Yachts. In order to be able to guarantee the highest seaworthiness and safety, all of the machinery and auxiliaries were fully overhauled and all necessary inspections were approved by Bureau Veritas Classification Society. Moreover, the remaining technological equipment and machinery were also replaced in order to ensure that the yacht had nothing to envy from a total new building. This former passenger vessel was converted into a majestic mega yacht that has managed to set a class of its own guaranteeing guest safety without compromising comfort and elegance.

The O’Mega’s gracious interior by Giorgio Vafiadis is fitted with mahogany paneling, built-in furniture, custom made linens, carpets, and handmade fabrics; all of which are Italian made. All areas are distinctly decorated with the finest materials as well as highest quality marbles throughout. The main deck is comprised of a large exterior seating area, a spacious salon, dining area, conference room, gymnasium, and five double and five twin en-suite staterooms all equipped with LCD screens, DVD’s, and surround system entertainment. The upper deck features another outdoor dining area and bar, a salon and piano bar, a full width owner’s stateroom, and four VIP suites. The fifth VIP cabin with a panoramic view is located on the Bridge Deck. The sun deck of O’Mega, featuring two spacious sunbathing areas, a large jacuzzi, and a bar, is the place to be onboard.

Built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 2004 and refit to exacting standards in 2011, the 83m/271ft custom motor yacht ‘O’MEGA’ has remained one of the most refined superyachts available for charter. With an interior and exterior styled by the Italian design house Studio Vafiadis, O’MEGA exudes an effortless sophistication which makes her the perfect choice for a private yacht charter with up to thirty guests.

Accommodation

As such a highly voluminous vessel with accommodation for up to 30 guests, it should come as no surprise that motor yacht O’MEGA is complete with 14 exceptional staterooms. The most impressive of these suites is no doubt the master cabin situated forward on the upper deck. Captain: Dimitris Argirakis

Master - Dimitris Argirakis Dimitris was born in Greece in 1961. We are delighted to have Captain Dimitris as the master of our team. He started his career in 1979 as a youngster on board the cruise ship Pegasus of Royal Olympic Cruises. He remained with the company for 22a years having attained the position of Captain Class A in 1995. His experience on the high seas is extensive having travelled worldwide. In 2003 he joined the O’Mega and although we lost him for a few years to Royal Olympic, we are thrilled to have him back with us. His devotion to his work ensures the safety and happiness of our guests. His hobbies are diving and skiing. Chief Engineer - Makis Mandolas, Makis was born in 1958. He finished the Merchant Marine Accademy of Greece in 1980 and has ever since been on passenger vessels. He has been with us since the beginning of the major refit in 2009 and needless to say knows the yacht back to front. I asked him what his hobbies are and his responses was anything mechanical!!! 2nd Engineer - Alexandros Panagiotopoulos Alexandros was born in Greece and entered yachting in 2004. Having completed his marine studies, graduating from the Mercantile Marine Academy of Skaramaga (Greece) in 1976, he commenced his career as a third engineer in shipping in 1982, an industry where he remained for more than 20 years. Alexandros is highly experienced and hard working. He loves to read, listen to music and is a cinema enthusiast. Hotel Manager - Yiannis Giannelis, Yannis was born in Greece in 1966. Yiannis is considered amongst the best Hotel Managers in the world. He is now entering his fourth season with O’Mega. He brings with him tremendous experience having served as Hotel Manger for 3 years with the Privatsea Group aboard the 120m Turama and Alexander followed by 6 years on board the 72m RM Elegant. Those who have worked with him know that he is a perfectionist and always ensures the success of his charters. His motto is to make everything possible for the client. Executive Chef - Simone Simoncini Simone was born in Italy in 1962. He has been with O’Mega for four years now and in this time he has faced many challenges that he has overcome with great aplomb and professionalism. His experience comes from working in the industry for many years. He started and remained at the Grand Hotel la Pacce in Monte Catine for eight years prior to opening his own restaurant in Florence which he ran for 10 years. He specializes in Italian cuisine but is happy to cater to any of our clients’ culinary desires. His hobbies include football and fishing. Sous Chef - Charalambos Tasiopoulos Charalambos was born in Greece in 1977. He has been working in yachting since 2011 on board M/Y Sahab IV. He has long experience as a chef in restaurants and hotels. He is extremely hardworking and cooperative. Charalambos has proven himself to be a team player who is very efficient under demanding working conditions. Stewardess - Tetiana Zymenko Tetiana was born in Ukraine in 1986 and has been in yachting since 2013. Having worked at M/Y Delma and M/Y Topaz, she has gathered valuable experience, which makes her stand out for her professionalism and her impeccable work ethic. She is very pleasant, making sure that the guests are always enjoying themselves on board. Tetiana joined the O'Mega crew in 2016 and she is known to provide exceptional, friendly and fast service. STEWARDESS - Juaiyhmah Vitor Lalic Juaiyhmah was born in the Philippines. She joined the yachting industry in 2009, gaining experience onboard yachts like M/Y ALEXANDER, M/Y TURAMA and M/Y AL MIRQAB before joining the O’MEGA team in 2012. She enjoys each day and looks forward to new adventures. Juaiyhmah has a passion for what she does and will be happy to make your stay as relaxing and memorable as possible. STEWARDESS - Aneliya Toncheva Aneliya was born in Bulgaria in 1983. She entered the yachting industry as a laundry stewardess in 2014 on board M/Y Tueq. She then worked onboard M/Y The Jewel as a stewardess. She speaks fluent English and is very efficient. Aneliya is very hard-working, easy-learning and responsible. She is very positive and friendly towards the guests. ASSISTANT STEWARD - MichaelJeaneP.Rosario Michael was born in the Philippines and has been on board O’Mega since 2011 as assistant steward. He works very well with the rest of the crew and is always eager to be as helpful as possible. WIPER - Georgios Akritidis Georgios was born in Greece in 1976. He has been with us since 2013 and he has proved to be a reliable, hard working crew member. He shows excellent attention to detail, he loves cars and motorbikes as well as gardening. OILER - Manolo Mariquit Maghinay Manolo was born in Philippines in 1966. He has a diploma from Misamis Institute of Technology Associate in Marine Engineering. He has been in yachting since 1986. During these years, he gathered experience and he is very co- operative with the rest of the crew. Manolo is hardworking and always there to help as possible.

83m/271ft motor yacht O’MEGA has returned to the Eastern Mediterranean charter grounds after an extensive refit to her interiors. Built in 1987 by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, she underwent a refit in 2011 and 2015 for the very latest entertainment facilities on board.

O’MEGA – exterior profile

Since her latest refit luxury yacht O’MEGA sports a crisp and contemporary interior with furnishings in white and accents in charcoal grey from Giorgio Vafiadis . The deep wooden panelling and gloss finish further adds to the refinement. Spa massage and beauty facilities as well as an on board cinema/conference room ensure that every guest on board is pampered to the fullest whether cruising the topaz waters of the Cyclades or nestled amongst the sandy white bays of Cephalonia .

The majority of guests will be accommodated on the main deck forward and will be provided with a spacious and contemporary double or twin cabin. A conference room, massive formal dining area laid out with two long tables and a salon give guests ample places to spread out indoors, while the main deck aft is arranged for smaller group conversations as well as circulating at large events.

More accommodation is to be found above: The upper deck layout places the sumptuous Master suite forward and within there is a walk-through wardrobe to access the en-suite with bathtub, and the bedroom contains a deck and sofa beside the window for lounging late-night lounging without ever missing a moment of the destination’s beauty. Four other VIP stateroom are also to be found on this deck, each with en-suite facilities and broad windows. This leaves the aft section dedicated to the skylounge where there is extensive seating, a wet bar and a grand piano. Glass doors connect the glamorous lounge to the equally elegant alfresco dining area with multiple tables to seat all 40 guests for a special occasion or laid-back luncheon.

O’MEGA – interior

The bridge deck hosts one final VIP stateroom that leads straight out onto the bridge deck aft, where the tenders are stored along with two double sunpads and spacious armchairs near the balustrades.

For exceptional views and group entertainment outdoors there’s no beating the sundeck, where sunpads and sun loungers line the forward section and a circular Jacuzzi acts as the crowning feature. An alfresco dining area for six and gym equipment can be placed beneath the central hardtop for an alternative to the indoor setting on the main deck. For quiet relaxation with reading material or a fruity cocktail, the hammock on the sundeck aft is a comfortable place to while away the hours.

There is an excellent selection of water toys for guests of all ages, and the collection includes:

• 2 x Seabobs
• a floating pool
• snorkelling equipment
• Scuba diving equipment, and
• inflatable and towable toys

While underway, guests have a comprehensive gym with a widescreen TV and seating for maintaining a fitness regime followed by relaxation.

Altogether the accommodation sleeps up to 30 guests across 14 en-suite cabins: 1 Master suite, 5 VIP staterooms, 5 double cabins and 3 twin cabins. The professional crew of 28 has the experience to make your summer charter in Santorini or Rhoades a complete success.

A truly iconic superyacht, EMIR anticipates each and every need of those on board

Built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 2004 and refit to exacting standards in 2022, the 83m/271ft custom motor yacht ‘EMIR’ has remained one of the most refined superyachts available for charter.

With an interior and exterior styled by the Italian design house Studio Vafiadis, EMIR exudes an effortless sophistication which makes her the perfect choice for a private yacht charter with up to 28 guests.

Exterior Design

With harmonious lines and concave shapes defining the exterior of superyacht EMIR, it’s no surprise that she’s instantly recognisable when out on the water. Finished in arctic white, the outdoor living spaces are largely to be found towards the aft deck and on the upper deck. With comfortable furnishings abounding to provide numerous options for enjoying the climate whilst away on charter, there are also plenty of alfresco dining spaces conveniently situated underneath partial shading. Committed to providing a range of possibilities for such large charter parties, Studio Vafiadis have equipped the exterior of EMIR with a handful of lounge-like areas which can be easily serviced by the attentive. What’s more, with a retractable swim platform extending off the transom, charterers are also able to easily access the water to enjoy the tenders and toys on offer.

Interior Design

The stunning interior of EMIR is largely inspired by classic aesthetics, with a number of elegantly crafted soft furnishings allowing guests to unwind and socialise in the utmost comfort. With fabrics coming from the collections of Rubelli, Lelievre and Scardigli, charterers are sure to feel inspired by their surroundings in both the communal and guest spaces. Indeed, from the spacious main salon through to the dedicated dining room and the VIP salon, there is a sense of sophistication which helps to establish an appropriately luxurious ambience. As something of a counterpoint to such glamour, the home cinema which was integrated during the refit in 2022 is composed of modern fixtures and the latest in visual and audio systems. Getting between such impressive spaces is just as much of an awe-inspiring experience, with intricate marble flooring and engaging pieces lining the corridors. Other standout features which grace the interior of superyacht EMIR include fluted pillars, original oil paintings, and some of the most impressive dark mahogany joinery to be found on any superyacht.

Guest Accommodation

As such a highly voluminous vessel with accommodation for up to 28 guests, it should come as no surprise that motor yacht EMIR is complete with 14 exceptional staterooms. The most impressive of these suites is no doubt the master cabin situated forward on the upper deck. Offering panoramic views through semicircle windows which face forward, charterers occupying this cabin are able to wake up in only the most appropriate fashion Finished with yellow and white onyx, the bathroom adjacent to the suite forms the perfect complement to such an expertly designed stateroom. The 5 VIP cabins which are also available on EMIR are just as well-appointed. The VIP stateroom found on the bridge deck, for example, offers similarly outstanding views, and is only a little smaller than the master. The additional 4 doubles and 5 twins are superbly finished, with entertainment systems and comfortable fixtures populating the spaces.

Onboard Comfort & Entertainment

As a superyacht committed to entertaining larger charter parties, EMIR comes with a range of options for unwinding in style. The crowning achievement is perhaps the upper salon which is complete with a piano bar which is presided over by a resident pianist to allow guests the luxury of combining their cocktails with appropriate background music. The arrangement of furnishings only a short distance away also means that guests can keep themselves gathered together late into the night to enjoy one another’s company to the accompaniment of music of their own choosing. For those looking to catch up with the latest blockbusters, the home cinema is stocked with a generous range of movies to enjoy in a suitably cool area. Of course, for those who prefer their entertainment to take place out on the water, the easy access to the water and diverse collection of water toys and tenders ensures there’s never a dull moment with superyacht EMIR.

Omega’s Special-Edition Watch for the 37th America’s Cup Is a Seamaster Diver

In mid-2023, Omega gave an unveiling of a Seamaster Planet Ocean variant made in partnership with Emirates Team New Zealand for the 37th America’s Cup. The watch was a black and turquoise regatta timer, meaning it’s a chronograph with a running seconds subdial and another with a unique countdown timer in increments of five minutes to aid with the peculiarities of competitive sailing.

Seeing that the watch’s announcement came before a preliminary round — a year before the actual 2024 yacht race was even underway, which it will in October — the timepiece felt like it was jumping the gun, so to speak. With Omega announcing it will return as the Official Timekeeper of the yacht race, they’re now showcasing a new watch to honor the 37th America’s Cup as a whole. Conflict of interest aside, this is a pretty cool watch and may surprise most people to find out that it’s not actually a chronograph at all.

The America’s Cup

Competitive sailing in its own right dates back to the 17th century and requires a specific type of timer, called a regatta. For the uninitiated, the America’s Cup is one of the most prestigious trophy events in the world, offering the coveted Auld Cup to the winner. The longest-running sporting competition to date, it comprises two yachts, one of which is the Defender from the previous event and another of which is the Challenger, decided by several rounds of preliminaries. 

Held this year in Barcelona this October, the 37th America’s Cup will feature a Defender yacht from the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, defending its title from the 2021 race. The Challenger yacht this year will be from the U.K.’s Royal Yacht Squadron.

Omega Seamaster 300M Diver America’s Cup

As we said, the special-edition Seamaster 300m diver won’t be a chronograph of any sort but will have some design cues inspired by the yacht race. Housed in the standard 42mm stainless steel case boasting 300m of water resistance, the timepiece has a matte white ceramic dial with the classic wave pattern, surrounded by a pretty cool blue ceramic bezel with a regatta scale of sorts. 

With no standing start grid or quick accelerations, yachts must get as close to the starting line prior to race time without crossing it. Since starting is a little tricky in yacht racing, regattas usually feature a pair of pre-start sections separated by five-minute intervals before the start marker. And you’ll see those notches are implemented on the unidirectional bezel on this dive watch.

You’ll also notice the hands, which are “ skeletonized ” and have a unique gradient color scheme. As for the second hand, its counterweight is in the shape of the America’s Cup trophy. Like other Seamasters, the watch ticks by with the Master Chronometer-certified in-house Caliber 8806 automatic movement with 55 hours of power reserve. It’s visible (sort of) through the exhibition caseback. However, the crystal on the back is largely covered by a blue “B” for “Barcelona, as well as another silhouette of the trophy. It’s paired with either a stainless steel link bracelet or a blue rubber strap.
