All of these show the influences of Islamic art on Cartier’s designs. Another exhibition called Letters Of Light is also happening at the museum, which presents holy books of the three Abrahamic religions – the Christian bible, the Hebrew, and the Quran. Apart from taking a tour on a kayak around the Louvre Abu Dhabi , now you have the opportunity to learn about the museum’s impressive architecture via an electric catamaran cruise.
Operated by the Costa Azzurra company, catamaran tours take place every day of the week from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. A tour can last 30 minutes or an hour. The first option costs AED 350, and the second one costs AED 600, with up to two people per catamaran in both cases.
The minimum age of a participant is 18 years old. Those who are younger must be accompanied by an adult. Please note that the participants should arrive 15 minutes earlier to get ready.
Situated on Saadiyat Island and surrounded by water, the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum covers 24,000 sqm. It was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, a winner of the Pritzker Prize (an analogue of the Nobel Prize in architecture). In this project, the architect has combined oriental traditions and modern design.
The museum comprises more than 50 snow-white pavilions and covered passages separated by many water channels and boasts a huge openwork dome, which is a true architectural marvel. The dome is made of durable materials (steel, iron, and aluminium) and seems to be woven from white lace. It creates a shadow that resembles “the shadow of date palms in an oasis”, and visitors feel as if the museum is under the open sky on the high seas.
To get more information and book an electric catamaran ride, please visit the official website of Louvre Abu Dhabi .
Among the other exciting activities offered by the museum are a drawing class and the Art History Walks Series . You can also watch Mindful Art Moments (a series of videos of three artworks from the museum collection) and a webinar studying the role of art engagement in museums and galleries to improve one’s health and well-being.

The museum boat
The catamaran is the world's first museum boat. Designed by architects Axel de Beaufort and Guillaume Verdier , it is 47m long and 55m high . The boat was built at the Perini Navi shipyard in Italy. It can accommodate 2,000 people a day on board, and features an immersive exhibition designed with the exceptional collaboration of the Musée du Louvre, a sound experience developed with Ircam, and onboard artist residencies.
Onboard Experiences
Immersive exhibition "Présentes
Created in exceptional collaboration with the Musée du Louvre, this exhibition offers a reflection on the role and representation of female figures in the Mediterranean world, through an educational and sensory experience based on digital audiovisual technologies. The exhibition is divided into two parts:

Artist residencies
The Art Explora Festival is a project for exchange, dialogue and cultural cooperation on a Mediterranean scale. As part of its mission to support contemporary creation, the festival will develop a programme program of cross-regional residencies. The curators associated with the project are inviting artists, scientists and researchers from the various countries crossed by the Art Explora Festival to take part in residencies on board the ship, then in another Mediterranean city for a month. Over thirty artists from fifteen Mediterranean countries will have the opportunity to develop their project and travel to another country in the region. These residencies will enable artists to create a narrative around this Odyssey, and support mobility and contemporary Mediterranean creation through a vast network of residencies, institutions, curators and artists.
SAILING: A WORK IN ITS OWN RIGHT
At the invitation of the Foundation, French contemporary artist Laure Prouvost has designed a set of sails for the museum boat, evoking these aerial lands with sagacity and delicacy, taking us into spaces unencumbered by spatial and mental freedoms.

Calling all culture and art enthusiasts! Since its opening in 2017, the Louvre Abu Dhabi has become a shining light of cultural progression and openness. Located in Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island Cultural District, the Abu Dhabi Louvre Museum stands as a proud testament to connected humanity throughout the world.
Planning a visit to Louvre Abu Dhabi? From entry fees to exhibits, we’ve compiled everything you need to know about this coveted art museum in the country’s capital.
THE ARCHITECTURE
Located in Saadiyat Island , The Louvre Abu Dhabi is the first museum to bear the Louvre name outside France. It houses around 600 pieces in a modern light-filled structure designed to perfectly harmonise with its desert-island surroundings. The inspiration for Louvre Abu Dhabi is a traditional Arabic architectural culture.
The mastermind behind the Louvre Abu Dhabi is the 2008 Pritzker Prize winner Jan Nouvel. Among the many notable projects from the French architect are the Copenhagen Concert Hall, Philharmonie De Paris and the Doha Tower skyscraper.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi has been designed as a ‘museum city’ in the sea, with a contrasting series of white buildings inspired by the medina and low-lying Arab settlements. But here, it is a modern interpretation made of ultra-high performance concrete, otherwise known as UHPC. More than 55 buildings make up this museum city. The 180 metre-wide dome covers a large part of it and is also visible from surrounding areas.
